deep breaths girl…deep breaths!
Good D, Tim!
September 23rd, 20098:59 pm
That’s the Francoeur we’ve come tomknow and love!
Daniel Murphy is rackin’ up the LOBs.
September 23rd, 20099:01 pm
Yunnel really wants to play SS for the Marlins. The Braves could send Prado and Escobar to the Marlins for Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla.

September 23rd, 20099:04 pm
Come on guys, need a few more runs. Matty-D, it’s up to you, baby.
Are we gonna get another of those 2 out rallies here?
Great time for you to kill some mets here, chipper!
September 23rd, 20099:06 pm
McFann, if Chipper gets a walk here and then BMac flubs, I’m leaning toward Hanson on the jersey. Just sayin’
September 23rd, 20099:07 pm
Hello, where is everyone???
Gary Cohen just said Howard is climbing closer to Pujols for MVP. I mean, are you freaking kidding me? No Gary, not even close.
September 23rd, 20099:08 pm
bravesgrl4life – talking to yourself, eh?

glord1—Another good, well thought out post, at 4:47. Thanks.
Greg in TN
Thanks for all the coverage DOB, the masses do not understand, nor do they appreciate the fine line a beat writer has to walk in terms of how much off-the-record things can be hinted at and what has to just be filed away. Thanks for all you do from this denizen.
Braves are playing well of late, and it’s still an uphill struggle in terms of getting to October, but even so, good to see my favorite team playing good baseball.
I have some thoughts about the announcement today, but for now, baseball is front and center. Would love to see B-Mac do some damage here with the bases juiced.
MAC – You can do it – no, not a K, I was going to say you can GS this time. That would make up for the two Ks already.
September 23rd, 20099:09 pm
VJ, yeah, I guess so. Where the heck did everybody disappear to? Is there a party I wasn’t invited to?
September 23rd, 20099:11 pm
Attaboy Mac! Keep on on killin’ it son.
Franceour always wanted to have a batting average the same as Chipper’s
Damnit, son. I know the hand’s hurt and all, but please. Going to clean up the dinner dishes now. Can’t just sit here talkin’ to myself anymore. Ya’ll might think I’m crazy or something.
September 23rd, 20099:13 pm
That’s a bingo slot.
N8 (is it 2011 yet?)
September 23rd, 20099:15 pm
These quotes are from the “fan comments” section of the story on the Braves main page:
““I can guarantee that the Braves will spend 10 to 15 years before they find a replacement for Cox. You can count the really good managers on the fingers of one hand.” Commenter: Jerry
And nolie says that people don’t suggest how doomed we are destined to be without Cox. Let’s not forget about all the callers on Atlanta sports talk radio. That’ll be fun tomorrow, huh?
“There are 28 team owners who wish they would have had the success of the Braves under Bobby. And Bobby didn’t have Steinbrenner’s unlimited pockets to work with.” Commenter: Marc
This guy either just became a Braves fan, or he’s in his teens (no offense McFann). Because in the 90’s the Braves WERE the Yankees of MLB. The ironic side, is that once the Yankees started using the Boss’s open checkbook, their post-season dominance tailed off. It’s that kind of ignorance that floors me.
Think about it people. The Braves (with Ted) were able to afford, Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, John Smoltz, Chipper Jones, Fred McGriff, Ron Gant, David Justice, Javy Lopez, Andruw Jones, Denny Neagle, and many others in the PRIME of their career, and there was at least one team that had ALL of those guys on it at one time (1996 – actually Gant was already gone, but….)
And people want to whine about Bobby and the Braves not having Stienbrenner’s money. Nope. They just had Ted’s. Too bad for them.
September 23rd, 20099:16 pm
Yo Brian, I’m really happy for you and I’ll let you finish, but Mac is the best catcher in the whole wide world!
September 23rd, 20099:17 pm
Nice play, Roachy!
Professional D right thurr folks.
Sweet glove work by LaRoche.
Nice DP, and Nice Stad Roachy!
September 23rd, 20099:18 pm
Too bad his OBP, which is more important, isnt even close.
September 23rd, 20099:19 pm
Hey DOB, i understand what you mean by saying that the Braves would have to go 9-2 and the Rockies go 4-7, something like that, but if you think about it, all it takes is a 5 game winning streak for Braves and a losing streak from Rockies and we are right there tied, lol.
September 23rd, 20099:20 pm
I’ve changed my stance on LaRoche…I hope we resign him. Crappy first half or not
September 23rd, 20099:21 pm
Geeze….0-2 and an error I see. Way to make the most of your playing time, Kelly…
September 23rd, 20099:22 pm
Chipper still stinking it up tonight?….Yep. Why don’t we just give him the rest of the year off?
September 23rd, 20099:23 pm
Colorado losing big to SD………..
Well its only 2-0, but that looks big to me……..even 1-0 would
Big caveman brow…
I see they’re going to show Nate’s face everytime they plug Jessie James now.
September 23rd, 20099:24 pm
Maybe they should LaRoche to a winter league so he can go ahead and have his sucky first half there. And then he’d red hot once the real season started.
September 23rd, 20099:25 pm
I know I’m getting old, and I do have 2 teen-age daughters, but who in the heck is this Jessie James they keep talking about…Neither of my daughters knows much about her as well…….
3rd hit tonight by our #7 hitter………….
September 23rd, 20099:26 pm
Where is Vinings Jim?
bravesgrl4life – strange day – lots of comments on the news, then very sporadic during the game
September 23rd, 20099:27 pm
Nice Shot KJ!
That might sting later.
Geez, Kelly. Someone get the bat out of his hands – he’s dangerous today!
The blog will be confused to know that ESPN’s Jim Caple just stated that one of the biggest reasons the Braves won 14 straight division titles, but Cox was also a big part of that.
So… is ESPN still full of idiots when they make comments like that? God forbid that Joe Morgan and Jon Miller might say something nice about Bobby Cox, huh? The blog would turn into a bunch of rainman’s when he didn’t get his maple syrup.
All this time, I thought ESPN hated the Braves. The Cox news is actually at the top of their headline list….. on the main page, not just the baseball page.
September 23rd, 20099:28 pm
KJ – shin hunter expert.
That’s my boy!
Did Boog just say “Jerry Manuel with the clap…”?
September 23rd, 20099:29 pm
Jesse James is the “Road Dogg”, “Oh You Didn’t Know!”
P. W. Hjort
You see, that bat is too useful at 2B to get rid of for nothing.
It feels like if we have been all season long 3-6 GB either from the phillies and/or the WC leader.
September 23rd, 20099:30 pm
September 23rd, 20099:31 pm
Colorado’s down 2-0 in third
Brian the Brain
Yes he did. I almost fell out of my chair laughing.
chilidog75, I like your idea about winter ball for LaRoce. LOL
Another option, would be to hit him over the head, knocking him unconscious in spring training, then make an elaborate scheme, to make him think it’s July when he wakes up. All calendars and DVR menus would need to be set forward. There would need to be many people in on it. Like the Truman Show. I think I saw that on Days of our Lives in the 80’s, and then at least 4 or 5 times on ALIAS. So you know it can work, right?
… and Florida is down 6-4 in the eighth
September 23rd, 20099:32 pm
One thing I’ve noticed about espn, is that the baseball tonight crew has always been high on the Braves, especially Kruk and Steve Phillips.
It’s the sportscenter anchors and play-by-play men who are forced to talk about the big-city teams. Also, the programming executives are the ones who force-feed the yankees and red sox on us……….
Just checking. I’m sure it was unintentional. As was having a brown eye race in the G-Braves’ Eye Race.
September 23rd, 20099:33 pm
I’m thinking about making sure I have tickets for the final home game for next year. And it would be fitting if Bobby got thrown out during it.
The New Age Outlaws….I remember them all to well.
September 23rd, 20099:34 pm
Infante got robbed there on that – it shoulda been ball 4.
Come on, Nate! Jessie’s watching.
September 23rd, 20099:35 pm
Three quality starts for Hudson in his past four games (after going 5-1/3 innings in his first start back)
Soph just proved that HE IS JOE SIMPSON!!!!!!!!!
And the battle for her heart depends on this one AB
September 23rd, 20099:36 pm
As Jessie shuts off her TV in disgust.
With Tim Hudson looking alot like Tim Hudson it would be awful tough to not pick up that option.
One thing I’ve noticed about ESPN is that they devote airtime to Braves games, just like they do for every other team in the league.
Who gives a sh!t that some teams get more airtime than others.
Damn, cat’s outta the bag.
September 23rd, 20099:37 pm
Soph’s a dude??
September 23rd, 20099:38 pm
Hey… that Nate guy is kinda cute! Is he any good at baseball? Not that it matters because I’m not much of a singer, but just curious anyway.
Petey-Pablo is in, Yes,Sir!!!
Moylan isn't a closer
September 23rd, 20099:40 pm
He just isn’t.
My guess on Hudson. Two years at 19 mil signed this early November.
cabravesfan deep breaths girl…deep breaths!
I would if I could, but I can’t.
Petey-Pabb, Whats going on here, I don’t like this…!
Yeah, Soph’s short for…ok, I can’t think of any guys names that start or have Soph in them.
Don’t worry Nate – you deserve better. We still love you.
TnBrian)Vazquez ace 2010)
When Chipper retires he’s gonna come out with Chipper-Gay. This man aches more than my granny.
September 23rd, 20099:41 pm
2 years 19 mil for Huddy…?
Not a bad proposition to bank on, I like that proposal
Rob from SC
September 23rd, 20099:42 pm
Had to pick the wife up from school. What did Frank Wren have to say.
And Moylan isn’t a closer wins the out of left field award tonight.
Moylan has great command lately. He really sharp.
September 23rd, 20099:43 pm
Soph has gotten aggressive
I don’t want to see her have a BF…
That would not be good…
McFann, what was your last one for me about? I’ve been off for a little bit and don’t remember what I posted to get that response.
I don’t know if Soph’s a boy or girl. All I know is at the exact same time Soph posted the 9:34 post, Joe Simpson said the exact same thing
X-rays negative on Prado’s leg. Negative being positive, of course
cabravesfan – any plans for the second game of the World Series?
Had to pick the wife up from school.
That makes it sound like you’re married to someone really young.
September 23rd, 20099:44 pm
“prattvillenolzfan, Agreed. Kruk and Phillips have always praised the Braves (so have Morgan and Miller), and even though Gammons probably bleeds Curt Schilling’s blood, he’s never had anything overly negative (that wasn’t deserved) about the Braves. ESPN will cover, and over saturate their coverage of winning teams.
Even though we are “close” and have been playing good ball for a while, they have zero reason to cover the 2nd or 3rd place team in the WC race in late September. NO REASON. I bet had we took 2 of 3 from SD and handled ourselved better against Cincy, ESPN would be ALL over the Braves right now. So, the Braves are to blame for their “lack” of coverage.
My favorite ESPN personality, is Doug Gotlieb (sp?) on ESPN radio in the afternoons. He’s about as honest as it comes. I think he’s a SD Chargers fan, and he gripes about having to talk about the Patriots and Yankees and Red Sox, etc…. He often openly admits, that with ESPN being in the upper East Coast, their is a certain bias to those teams. Yet, also disputes that they would still talk about them if they didn’t continue to win.
I hardly ever watch sportcenter anymore. Between the Braves official site, or ESPN’s online game stories (that usually come with video clips), why sit through and hour of sportscenter, when you can click to the 2 or 3 stories you want to read and be done with it.
I’m pretty sure Soph’s a boy, prattville.
She is in Grad School
Maybe Cox shouldnt bring Moylan in here? Lord knows he is overworked
September 23rd, 20099:45 pm
I am going to give you a little inside Huddy info. He does not want to leave. Really integrated into his community and if he gets a fair offer to extend he will take it. The Braves just have to be fair and I bet they get a bit of a discount.
September 23rd, 20099:46 pm
Oh, T’Hawkin, I don’t have b’fests or fits, whatever they are. I’m a happy person.
pratvillenolzfan – I’m psychic. Actually, I clicked submit on my comment a few seconds before Joe actually said it. Eh, so I beat him.
Glad Marteen’s okay.
Petey-Pabb, Come On!!! WTF
September 23rd, 20099:47 pm
Shut up, jeffrey. I’m pretty sure you’re a butt.
