Braves are winning 3-1 (two-run single for Escobar in the 4th, RBI for LaRoche in the 9th) and BMac left the game a couple innings after getting a ball fouled off the bottom of his left wrist. He’s day-to-day with a bone bruise.

Tomorrow’s game is very important. If the Braves can finish off the sweep against the Mets by beating Pelfrey, then if the Braves are indeed worthy of putting pressure on the Rockies……then it should be a given that we should sweep the 7 remaining games against the Nationals. Their pitching sucks. Our pitching is superior to theirs.
Normally it’s hard to assume that a team is going to win 7 in a row against any team in baseball. However, I can actually see the Braves winning 7 in a row against the Nationals.
That would leave the 3 games next week against the Marlins as toughies.
I’d be happy if the Padres win one of these 3 games against the Rockies.

With Hudson (as with Glavine as with Smoltz) it is clearly not what you have done but what will you most likely be able to contribute. DOB… thanks for the notes on the state of the Braves’ white shirts. (I’m always wondering what their thoughts are on the state of the team.) And a great article on Matty D! aka… the best kept secret in baseball.
Don’t know how the Braves fuzzies see it… but in ‘10 Matty D’s in my outfield fulltime. I ask you “what does a man have to do to prove his worth?”
And for whoever earlier stated that they would hate to see Matt at the plate in a meaningful at bat in the 7th game of the WS… well, for my $$$ I can name only one or two who I would rather see in that situation. He can look so bad on one pitch only to look so good on the next one… as good as anybody I’ve ever seen in that position… and the man’s never seen a pitch that he didn’t like.
Putting it simply… Matty D can rake! And kudos to him for going against the grain… on this blog anyway… and saying some very good and positive things about the best manager to ever don player’s cleats and a catcher’s mitt in the dugout!!

Thanks for the great story on Matt… do you think his defense has improved too? I recall Huddy teasingly called him Magellan a few years ago for the routes he takes to catch a ball… I know he has dropped a few, but my sense is he is pretty solid, not a defensive liability, pretty good arm, really hustles, improving. Did he really do the P90X in the off-season? As you probably recall, I am a fan… he asked me if I got my Diaz t-shirt at Good Will… a year later, I got him to sign it for me.
