Why is Chipper batting third?
I don’t care about the homerun. Why not Diaz, LaRoche, then McCann and so on?
He should be batting 8th. Mix it up Bobby.
September 22nd, 20097:21 pm
Good evening, Braves fans. Lets see if we can take game 2, why don’t we?
WTF was that pitch?
September 22nd, 20097:23 pm
Let’s get some runs.
September 22nd, 20097:24 pm
I’ll never forget the start Jurrjens made last year at Shea where he really showed what he was made of. He walked in 3 runs in one inning, kept his cool, and was perfect every other inning he pitched and got the win.
Gov Clinton Tyree
dogsbrekky, I wouldn’t move Jurrjens for anybody in the league. Except…maybe…Braun.
Very interesting idea. Might make sense for the Brewers, too.
September 22nd, 20097:26 pm
No new suggestions, Poopy Pants. Just a regurgitation of the column. That’s what we ESPN Insiders pay the big bucks for.
UN FRIGGIN BELIEVABLE!!!!
Its been 1.1 inning and the Braves STILL have not scored!!
September 22nd, 20097:27 pm
Roachie is going to be more than $7m. And he wants at least three years. Although I’m not keen on the third year, I might do it…or I might do a mutual option for the third year, see if he’ll bite…and I think he’ll cost more like 8 or 9mil.
He’s a perfect fit for the club, if we get a RH cleanup hitting leftfielder.
Between scoring all those runs last night and the way we usually gave JJ little support, will we get shut out tonight??
September 22nd, 20097:28 pm
1.2 INNINGS!!! AND NO RUNS!!!
Oh, and whoever said Jason Bay $11m is on crack. I think it’ll take $15m, maybe more. I could stand either him or Holliday.
Nova Scotia Steve -
“Good evening, Braves fans. Lets see if we can take game 2, why don’t we?
WTF was that pitch?”
Tied his career-high… (Sorry, nolie.)
September 22nd, 20097:29 pm
2 INNINGS AND NO RUNS!
This is boring!!
September 22nd, 20097:33 pm
Agreed, McFann. Come on guys, get some runs behind JJ.
September 22nd, 20097:34 pm
Uh oh, McFann – you gonna go kick some Murphy behind over that one?
September 22nd, 20097:35 pm
Jammed wrist Fanny!
September 22nd, 20097:36 pm
Good play Loaf!
September 22nd, 20097:37 pm
Eight straight innings without a hit?
Welp, Matty D gonna go 0′fer tonight.
September 22nd, 20097:38 pm
I got a good mind to! BMac appears to be OK, though…But as you cann see, it did scare Rally.
Yeah… Hopefully it’s nothing…
September 22nd, 20097:39 pm
RHR, are you trying reverse psychology?
September 22nd, 20097:40 pm
3.1 INNINGS WITHOUT A RUN!!
Wayne in Utah
Don’t worry. Mac ain’t as fragile as some other Braves!
September 22nd, 20097:41 pm
I mean 2.2…
September 22nd, 20097:42 pm
Mac laughs at 71 mph curveballs to his body parts!
Wow, Joe Simpson just said: “benevolent.”
Those night classes must really be paying off.
September 22nd, 20097:43 pm
JJ broke up the Mets perfect game…
September 22nd, 20097:44 pm
This is ridiculous! NO RUNS!?!
September 22nd, 20097:45 pm
That’s for sure! Just ask JJ…
September 22nd, 20097:47 pm
Why I nevah……
September 22nd, 20097:48 pm
Gotta run. Go Braves!!!
September 22nd, 20097:55 pm
I’m mad that Sheffield is not in the Lineup!
I don’t get to hear my “Hear I Go!” by Mystikal Blasting on the P.A…One of the Best Rap songs of the 90’s!
This Game Bores me, I’m gonna watch some old “Salute Your Shorts” On Youtube
September 22nd, 20097:57 pm
Get Kawakami back up!
JJ ain’t got it, go get him Bobby!
TnBrian(Vazquez ace 2010)
September 22nd, 20097:59 pm
Alright, just give that Figueroa the Cy Young already! He is some kinda pitcher, huh?
September 22nd, 20098:01 pm
September 22nd, 20098:02 pm
COME ON BMAC!!! I’m calling for a 3-fer
September 22nd, 20098:03 pm
Okay, we’ll take it.
P. W. Hjort
Anyone know the answer to the trivia question? Driving me nuts. It’s not Dave Kingman, he only did it with 3 teams.
I remember back in ‘97 when he threw back to back to back to back perfect games…
What the heck? I wanted a double!!
I don’t want you to leave this series without hitting at least one double.
September 22nd, 20098:04 pm
McCann making a productive out?
Thats new to me…
September 22nd, 20098:05 pm
The Cuban Assasin drives ‘em in
I thought it was Kingman too until I went and looked it up.
3.2 INNINGS WITH OUT A RUN!!
September 22nd, 20098:07 pm
Once again, there’s the guy who should’ve been hitting 4th all along
Escobar’s still hitting .388 in 121 at-bats with RISP. Wow.
PWHjort, what was the question?
September 22nd, 20098:08 pm
What is the Triva Question?
It is always someone in the ballpark, folks…
September 22nd, 20098:09 pm
McCann left game with contusion of left wrist
Thank goodness for Escobar.
September 22nd, 20098:10 pm
cricket, what, you want a guy hitting near .400 with RISP batting cleanup? How come Bobby hadn’t thought of that.
Damn, Murphy. No doubles for BMAC tonight, I guess. Ready for that flight to NY, McFann?
September 22nd, 20098:11 pm
Why, the guy with 30 HRs with five different teams was Fred McGriff, of course.
The Crime Dog.
I’d rather have Yunel hit 5th or 6th…
JJ, if you keep this up I’m going to start calling you Walk A Day JJ.
September 22nd, 20098:12 pm
By the way, speaking of hitting with runners in scoring position (we were, or I was, about Escobar), hitting with RISP is something that Francoeur is doing a little better this year, but still not well at all.
He was a horrendous 34-for-177 (.192) with RISP last season, which was a whole lot of at-bats with RISP for a guy with such a low average in those spot. But that’s because he stayed in the middle of the order most of the season.
He’s hit .235 (40-for-170) with RISP this season.
Do their jerseys say “Los Mets”??
NOOOO!! No! No! No! Nooooo!!
September 22nd, 20098:13 pm
Yeah! Gotta get me a ticket.
September 22nd, 20098:14 pm
Anyone still believe? I do.
It is McGriff. Toronto, SD, Atl, Tampa, and one nice season for the Cubs.
I’ll go as your chaperone, McFann. I’d like a piece of Murphy myself.
September 22nd, 20098:15 pm
Don’t worry McFann, McCann is tougher than others, I’m sure he’ll be back playing real soon.
Way to go Jeff.
September 22nd, 20098:16 pm
Yes. Its Spanish History Month… I think thats why, I have no idea though…
Maybe they’ve started a mutiny from within their organization…
No wait. Their Manager and GM are Mexican right?
On that question, Dave Justice might not be a bad answer. But I think he played with 4 teams, so.
September 22nd, 20098:17 pm
Well, Francoeur seems better. Hopefully he resurrects his career there. .822 OPS now.
He sure was pitiful here.
No, Brian, I am certain it is McGriff.
September 22nd, 20098:18 pm
My favorite monikers are “Bobby’s Cox” “Kelly’s Johnson” and “Tiger’s Wodd”
September 22nd, 20098:19 pm
Thanks, Jurrjens4. I thought maybe Omar had really gone around the bend on his Latino love…maybe we can get David Wright for cheap.
September 22nd, 20098:20 pm
I’d have never thought McGriff hit 30 HR with TB/Chi. Wasn’t he like old then?
That was a trick question
Doesn’t Figueroa look like Posada’s younger brother?
September 22nd, 20098:21 pm
How about Sheffield? How many teams did he hit 30 home runs for?
It was who player other than Gary Sheffield has 30+ homers with 5 different teams. The answer is Fred McGriff. I’m embarrassed I didn’t get it.
September 22nd, 20098:22 pm
Hearing all the jets flying over the field………..I hate landing (and taking off) from LaGuardia……. Scares the shike outta me.
Brian, he had a bit of a resurgence when he left. His last year here, he didn’t hit 20 and we let him go. Actually had three or four more 30 HR seasons, one of which he was traded midseason to the Cubs, I believe.
I was surprised he surged, ’cause he looked finished when he left here.
September 22nd, 20098:23 pm
They had an assembly at my school for Mexican Heritage… whatever, and They had this “bilingual rapper” And he goes, “Can we turn the music off during this song? I want the audience to be able to understand me…”
And then he raps the entire song in Spanish…
September 22nd, 20098:24 pm
Mcgriff was old but it was the steroid era, I’m not accusing The Crime dog of roids but he hit a gang of his homeruns off pitchers that were on PED’s, which supports my theory that pitchers used PED’s a hella lot more than position players
DOB's blog in the offseason
Enter your commeGreat grammar….. I’m not even drunk….. Yetnts here
September 22nd, 20098:25 pm
September 22nd, 20098:26 pm
I think McGriff should go to the Hall because he hit almost 500 HRs clean. And the pitchers weren’t clean.
September 22nd, 20098:28 pm
Alrighty, then! Sounds like a plan…
Yeah, he is tough…he plays through a lot of bruises.
I’m sure he’ll be back playing real soon.
I hope so–’cause Pelfrey is pitching tomorrow! He has to be able to go against Pelfrey!
Gov, according to Wikipedia, McGriff was 7 shy of 500.
No Offense dude and this isn’t directed at you, but It is a Pet Peeve of mine when Mainstream/The Pop American Mantra to assume any dude who looks Hispanic to assume that they are Mexican…
Not Every person who is hispanic is from Mexico…Go to S. Florida and you will lose that stereotype that floods mainstream/pop culture America in todays society…
I’m not sure you’d pass a breathalizer
September 22nd, 20098:29 pm
Thanks PW! didn’t here the whole question.
September 22nd, 20098:32 pm
DOB – Just saw on my email list-serve from The Bowery Ballroom in NYC that James McMurtry’s playing there tomorrow night.
I know. And I’m not like that, but I live in a state where politically correctness is shoved down your throat, and I wanted to vent a little…
I but do think Manuel and Omaya are mexican…
Nothing like a hitting coach to help an ex-Brave — any ex-Brave.
