Braves need a power bat, for certain, but it would be nice to add a legit leadoff hitter. I think that’s less likely and less doable. McLoth is serviceable leading off, but not the best in the role.

The poll says a two year deal and trade if FREEMAN’s ready after next year. I can’t see it. The wheels fell off his hitting machine after he was promoted to MISSISSIPPI and the word got around the league. He batted .161 in 62 August AB’s with a .431 OPS only one extra-base hit (2B) and his SO-BB ratio skyrocketed to 12 to 6 from July’s 7 SO-5 BB. Ugly numbers everywhere. Was he playing hurt, or did the opposition finally get a solid book on his weaknesses as a hitter? Maybe a regular here who saw him in PEARL or around the league could clue us in. FREDDIE’s last month’s stats do not bode well for Mr. FREEMAN’s early audition in ATLANTA. Should The Braves Concoct A Milton Bradley Experiment?
Short answer: no with a but, long answer: yes with an if…
IF the Cubs release Milton, and IF he is open to coming to Atlanta, then yes. Do it. Sign him to a one year deal for 5 – 6 Million and a one year mutual option for 13 million.
I don’t want to hear Clubhouse cancer… Have Bobby straighten him out, since he is such a players manager. I would be pissed too if I had to play for the Chicago Cubs. He doesn’t like the Chicago media, and all Atlanta has is David O’Brien and Mark Bowman… If his attitude scares you (Although, I don’t mad watching an Atlanta Brave play with some attitude) include some kind of clause in his contract that allows them to void the contract, if necessary.
Also, Heyward ISN’T coming up at the start of next year, and I don’t want to see him up at all next year. He is a kid, not “a man amongst boys”. A 20 year old kid…
It is never football season in my house. It is baseball season 24/7 365. Once the season is over, it is time to keep track of the AFL or as I call it the Jason Heyward finsihing school.
richbrave, he probably just slumped real bad, most minor league players do, hence the reason they’re in the minors.
I have no doubts Freeman will be a capable major league 1B for somoene. I don’t think he’ll be a big power bat though, so it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if we got a power bat.
To be honest I would really like to see Derek Lee in a Braves uni next year, he’d be a great right-handed bat to compliment this line-up.
Garret’s been tearin some ump’s butt these last few games. Wonder why he’s all the sudden doing this?
PWHjort, yeah, I’m sure this is the real Diaz. He lost weight and has always been a good hitter. I just think he’s stronger and quicker. I won’t complain a bit to see him as our starting LF/RF in 2010.

Also, Heyward ISN’T coming up at the start of next year, and I don’t want to see him up at all next year. He is a kid, not “a man amongst boys”. A 20 year old kid…
What do “yall” think?

AAAAHHG!! No!! You’re practically always the guy who goes 0-fer in these fun, high-scoring games! And your hitting streak is on the line, here…

Man am I glad I wasn’t there to see that.
I saw some team made their rookies dress up like superheroes. I thought that was pretty lame. That’s what I thought.
