Bobby Cox, fails yet again in a big game situation. Same thing every year.
September 18th, 20099:19 pm
A couple of extremely bad pitches to Howard, but it’s still good to have Huddy back. Now let’s get some f’in runs!
Jurrigens 4 NL Cy Young
Funniest show of all time is Martin…That show still cracks me up
Boy Hudson has pitched REALLY well…
Go to the mound? C’mon. Maybe with a rookie, but Tim Hudson knows he doesn’t need to throw him a fat one where he can get his hands extended. He was just missing with his pitches.
September 18th, 20099:20 pm
Tip of the cap to Howard. It doesn’t matter which Braves pitcher is on the mound, he just lights them up.
What happened with Escobar?
if Escobar is not as hurt I am just as surprised at Cox benching Escobar’s bat in a crucial game as I am in Escobar not hustling. If Escobar was not hurt and was not hustling that is inexcusable but Cox should have dealt with that later – not punishing the whole Braves team by taking his bat out of the game.

Deep thoughts by Tomahawk:
Why do I keep letting the Braves pull me back in? There I was after the Reds series in dismay, and also with a sense that what I espected of this Braves team had come to be, though a bit earlier than expected. Mentally I was in offseason mode, still checking the score from time to time, unemotional of the events good or bad, but thinking of Chipper and Roach hunting on the ranch, Vazquez chllin in Puerto Rico, and Loaf, well, loafing somewhere in the greater 48. Then it happened, the biggest winning streak in three years, a glimmer of hope, and a sense that they may never lose again. I sit on my couch as if this is opening night again, living and dying on every pitch, and watching that son of a bitch Ryan Howard punching my hopes in the face two more times like he has done so often before. Go Braves…
Sons of Saban
Nick Saban would NOT bench Escobar. FAHR Bobby Cox !!
Ha! And the Braves have more hits than the Fillies, too! This is sad…Timmy’s not pitching that bad. Oh, but I know…
who sang ‘take me out to the ballgame? the count from sesame street?
September 18th, 20099:22 pm
RHR – difference- you HATE Frenchy – I like Yunel
Howard Hitting solo shots off us doesn’t bother me…The fact that the AWFense failed to show up yet again does…
Dan Akroyd, Mike.
September 18th, 20099:23 pm
I wish we could take Jeff Francouers D and Matts O and combine them into a super player…
I hate top-spinners.
Marc from FL
Here it goes again, we’re triyng to knock the cover off the ball every swing and won’t get a hit the rest of the game as a result
September 18th, 20099:24 pm
Come on offense!!
We have no offense because our genius manager put the best hitter on the bench. Cox is a loser!
shocked it’s not norton. guess it’s not a critical enough situation.
September 18th, 20099:25 pm
I happen to like your name very much. I really do. I was just acting out I guess.
Not sure why I would know what an anxiolytic is but I’ll have you know my blood pressure kicks ass.
But am I really supposed to be chilled out about this game?
Can we walk Howard once. Umpires are a joke worst in any sport. How the hell can they miss a play at first that bad.Why at home do they stay behind the catcher where they miss more calls.Cant stand watching Manaul chew that darn gum with his mouth open.FIRE COX
God Damn It!
Why are the braves swinging for the fences…? I just don’t get it…
Maybe I need to Change My name to Bobby and TP must go!
September 18th, 20099:26 pm
this game has been frustrating as hell. really does remind me of a standard braves playoff game.
If Escobar was not hustling in this crucial game, you have to wonder when Escobar will wear out his welcome with Bobby and the Braves. I think Escobar has been our MVP, along with our starting pitchers, but if there was no hustle you can add Escobar to Frank Wren’s decisions this offseason. I want Escobar to stay a Brave but if he has a toxic personality (not saying that he does) do the Braves trade him while his value is high.
I can only imagine the suitors for Escobar would be numerous if he was made available in the offseason. He will not bring us our big bat but he could bring a big return freeing us to make other moves. Boston (Buchholz or Bard, and Lowrie for Escobar) in particular would be a big suitor as LA Dodgers may be (moving Furcal to 2B when Hudson leaves – would they trade an OF such as Kemp or Ethier for Escobar).
September 18th, 20099:28 pm
CJ back = slumping offense. 6 more outs to go, but it isn’t looking so good.
Reading my mind . . .
Enter your comments hereBring on the Med’s! Medlen is in…
He may be the most underrated pitcher on the staff
September 18th, 20099:29 pm
Bobby and his league of coaches are awesome. Since July 28th Howard has 14 HRs and guess what 7 are against the Braves.Since July 28th in 25 ABs Howard has hit 7 HRs against the braves. The other 7 HRs took 161 ABs against nine different teams. Yeah Bobby is the best. LOL
bravesgrl4life – thanks. i just heard a bit of it over the tv and had no idea.
Where did our offense go?
Top of the order in the 8th.
Then hopefully, we’ll get to our best hitters by the 9th.
September 18th, 20099:30 pm
Which Friends episode will cheer me up after tonights game….
Has anyone ever seen 3 relievers warm up in the bullpen simultaneously?
I think Turner Field is the only place in the bigs that has 3 slabs of rubber in the bullpen mound…
Not until irrefutable statistics prove we’re out of it will you have to to pry my cold, dead fingers off my tomahawak for the 2009 season.
Not until you hear Bobby shouting at you, “easy, easy” will you slow down your run to 1st on a sure out dribbler toward second. (make Esco sit in a room and watch that sure 9th-inning, 3rd-out, game-eding liner to 1st during the Mets series…..that went under his glove, giving us the win……over and over and over and over…)
Not until he’s not in the lineup do you not worry about pitching to Hayward.
September 18th, 20099:31 pm
UM NO he is not…
Oh goodie goodie, Esco messes up for the first time since June and brian is already coming up with more trade scenerio’s. You just can’t wait to get rid of this guy for some reason. Frank Wren if you hadn’t noticed is a seperate entity from Bobby Cox, thus the reason we don’t have Smoltz and many other places. Frank Wren and Yunel Escobar will be here for a while. Can’t say the same about Bobby and neither can he himself. Frank Wren is building us a solid team, he is not about to mess that up.
I don’t know why everyone is all up in arms, you knew this would happen when you read the blog today. The Yunel stuff was just an added bonus.
Fire Escobar.MaYbe we cAn get a deSceNt middle reliever f0r hiM.
Rehire bOOby for as l0ng as he wANts. This bOred won’t be n0 fUN at all if bOOby bOOger leaves.
September 18th, 20099:32 pm
Bill Welke Has been screwing us on the calls at first all night long…
that freakin first base umpire is screwing us.
Where did our offense go? It got benched by that idiot manager, Bobby Cox.
September 18th, 20099:33 pm
Last post its suppose to be players not places.

Listen up, I’ve been a fan for a mighty long time. I understand where we stand now – no fool here…but, dang it, I thought not pitching to Howard was the ‘Nicene Creed’ of our current ethos. What went wrong? Is there something I don’t understand?
Jim – hate is a strong word. I didn’t like him with the braves at all but i’m indifferent about him now…just saying, he never would’ve been treated like Yunel.
Medlen had Rollins picked off…
He has the best pick-off move on the team, I think.
1.5 years of Lee > 1 year of Vazquez, in my opinion. But who knows. Efrim
True. I have to think that if the Braves decide to trade Javy, it won’t happen until late in the off-season because of Roy Halladay.
I have to think that the reason the Indians accepted that deal was for a salary dump because I don’t doubt they could’ve gotten more for him. Or maybe it was like the Santana trade where they waited too long.
September 18th, 20099:35 pm
He definitely does, McFann.
Medlen will never amount to anything on this level.
If Howard played all of his games against the Braves he would probably hit 130 in a season. I know he is a big slugger but something is wrong when one of the best staffs in baseball cannot figure how to pitch to him. Could it be the manager and coaching staff???
You can’t just walk power guys everytime they come up, no one would watch this game if you did. And typically you don’t walk guys on if there’s no one on unless it’s late and close. Regardless, the Phils have 3 runs and that shouldn’t be enough to win, it will be because our offense is in denial and think we have sluggers on our team. What a shame
September 18th, 20099:36 pm
It got benched by that idiot manager, Bobby Cox. (Braves 70)
who Yunel? He’s 12 for his last 44, ain’t exactly burning it up lately.
September 18th, 20099:37 pm
No bobby, it’s not the coaching staff, it’s called Tim Hudson missed his location twice with below average pitches and Howard crushed them just like any other half-decent hitter would.
Walk Howard NOW!!!
September 18th, 20099:38 pm
I don’t care who Bobby puts in there, darn it, WALK HOWARD!!!! It loads the bases, but maybe, just maybe we can get out of this.
One way to keep Howard in the ballpark is to intentionally walk him…
WTF Medlen can’t pitch an intentional walk? My god how dumb. Lefty lefty matchup my ass. How bout a walky walky matchup?
Medlen made 13 throws to the plate — and nine to first base.
September 18th, 20099:39 pm
“Medlen will never amount to anything on this level.”
Dumbest statement ever!!!
Just Pat: I really enjoyed the Top Plays during the rain delay also. I especially liked the 8.5 Richter Scale slide of BMac’s on that triple – and Chipper’s reaction to it..
Bobby’s #2000th win was a big suprise too ’cause they showed me and my sign “Skipper, congrats on #2000″ that I took to the game that night. My sign and I were in the AJC the next day after the big win. Guess I’ll be a part of Braves lore down thru the ages. Cool.
September 18th, 20099:40 pm
RHR – Frenchy never dogged it in a game – Yunel does over and freakin’ over – Frenchy is a dimwit, Yunel apparently does not understand how not to look like you are losing concentration…
“I didn’t like him with the braves at all but i’m indifferent about him now…just saying, he never would’ve been treated like Yunel.”
Completely agree with you RHR. Whats so wrong about asking a manager to treat and expect the same kind of behavior from all his players. Lets not play favorites here. These are all big boys, if you’re going to punish one for something do it to them all. Hard to respect someone who isn’t preaching the same message to all players but just some. I don’t care who the manager is and who the player is. Got to be consistent with the message.
ummmm, why bring in Logan to intentionally walk Howard?
Lmao Boone Logan vs Ryan Howard.
Very well rested is one way to put it…
Rob from SC AKA - Derek Lowe sucks and Bobby Cox has it out for Escobar
Logan is still on our team
Braves and Ryan Howard: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 40 times, shame on me. When will the Braves learn?
Whaddya Know…I give Props to Meds and he comes out flat…
Rollins was out! That missed call will hurt, “Bank On It!: There should be just a runner on first and 2 outs
Come On Booney!
Walk Howard do the unintentional intentional walk…
How about: “The one where the entire cast of Friends is overpaid, and the only thing that makes this show watchable is when paul rudd guest stars.”
How about that episode?
September 18th, 20099:41 pm
You people are crazy. Howard at best, and I mean like God-mode best, will get a hit 4 out of 10 at-bats against us and a homer 1-2 times every 10 at-bats. Putting him on to load the bases gives the Phils even more leverage against our pitchers; not a good move.

Where’s the bulldog mentality y’all always claim for Medlen? Right now he just looks middlin’. Guysa bum
Calling all cars: cancel the missing person alert on Boone Logan. We’ve found him.
September 18th, 20099:42 pm
WTF bench LaRoche
DOB – how was the new Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ CD???
Gawd Our Defense Sucks!
about FU@@@@@ time
Thats What I like to see…! Way to drill him…! Nice!
September 18th, 20099:43 pm
utley was out of the baseline.. thats three calls theyve missed tonight… bout time they hit howard
“Frenchy never dogged it in a game” – Vinings Jim
Recall the game against the Boston Sox when Varitek turned a single into a double because Frenchy decided not to hustle to a ball and Varitek took advantage of it and turned it into a double. There you go, thats at least one. I’m sure others can come up with more.
Is It too early to call “Game Over”?
Go to 1st base you ugly ass MF!
Atta baby Boone!
You guys got what you wanted, he walked, now the bases are loaded. Our guys have to be perfect now to keep the Phils from adding on. This is bad.
September 18th, 20099:44 pm
Acosta, are we trying to win this game.
C. Medlen is a bit of a nervous Nelly on the mound.
Acosta? No Moylan?
Wow. Logan to Acosta. I guess Bobby has some golf outings set up for October huh?
Manny “I Cost Ya” is in…This is not good! I have a bad feeling about this move
way to burn out Gonzo, Moylan, and Soriano against those scary mets
Hayward, Howard………….you guys know who I mean. The big guy with the big bat in this game.
September 18th, 20099:45 pm
On a side note, it looked like Howard was going to body slam Logan for a minute, lol
