Ok, lets break this last post down from you Marc, 1st you said:

“What the hell are you talking about? Diaz runs harder down the line than anyone on this team, what are you smoking?”

I could have swore I said that but silly me, over estimating some of our bloggers reading skills. Next statement:

“And I’m not going to complain on the blog everytime someone jogs down the line – my fingers would fall off in a week’s time. ”

Yet you feel the need to do it for Esco, I wonder why? What makes him different Marc if so many others do it? Next Part:

“My statement is that Escobar was wrong to not hussle, not that he’s the only one on the team that doesn’t hussle. Bobby picks on Esco more than anyone, that doesn’t make their lack of hussle any more acceptable, and doesn’t make Esco’s lack of hussle anymore acceptable. His injury can’t be that bad cause he floors it just fine when he wants to.”

Sounds a little hypocrytical to me Marc and i’m glad you from your tv screen at home could tell me how hurt the guy is or anyone else on this team. You say you would say it when anyone else does it in one post then you say in the next post you are not going to type everytime someone does it. Yeah, you make a lot of since to me. Don’t get mad because I called you on your crap.

Joe Maddon benched B.J. Upton twice in September last year for not hustling. Upton pulled his head out of his butt and realized he needed to step up. And the Rays still won the AL Pennant.

nycbravesfan, I agree that you don’t pull a key player in an important. He is embarassed, but you lose his skills. Call him into the office, dress him down, fine him … but why hurt the rest of the team? It seems self-defeating.

I was at that game when, early in his career, Andruw Jones didn’t move on a deep liner in the gap. Bobby replaced him immediately, and it worked –Jones played great, hustling center field for us for the rest of his stay here. Some OTHER approach is needed with Escobar.

Good night, all. On a church league softball team I understood that you run all out on every play, because every year or two a fielder makes a mistake. In 1969, Gil Hodges walked out halfway to left field and pulled his best hitter, Cleon Jones, for failing to hustle after a fly ball. Bobby has tried to get that message across to Yunel all year. Maybe it’s okay to not hustle because we like to shift blame to Chipper, or because we hate Bobby, but that is not the way I learned baseball.

That is absolutely false. Bobby pulled him out of a game in like 1997 for dropping a ball or doing a basket catch, basically not hustling in the outfield.

His last three years here he never even ran out a ball hit to third. Bobby did s*** about it.

Roman Gal, I remember some folks saying that it was a good trade for both teams, but I am still trying to understand how the Indians did well there. The Phillies managed to keep 5 of their best 6 prospects(including Happ in there). I understand that the Phillies had a deep system, but don’t you have to get at least one of the big outfielders or Happ or Drabek there? Heck, how about Travis D’Arnaud instead of Lou Marson? Most things I have read about the two have said D’Arnaud has the higher ceiling. Plus, Carlos Santana is real close. The Lee trade was probably for salary reasons, but I still expected a better haul. Kind of discourages me about the Braves ability to get a big prospect package for Vazquez, if they choose to put him out there. 1.5 years of Lee > 1 year of Vazquez, in my opinion. But who knows.

Mitchell, I don’t remember the game you cite with the basket catch, but I have to say that in CF, Andruw played as hard (and as well if not better) than any centerfielder I ever saw in fifty years watching the game. Man, one year he almost broke 500 put-outs — and if I remember my idol Mickey Mantle never broke 400, and even Willie didn’t get close to 500 (I just checked — 448 was his high) during a period with fewer strikeouts. Andruw did the job in CF.
