Well Marc I suggest you hold that standard to all players because if you watched this game or our team you would realize probably the only guy that hustles 100 percent of the time is Diaz. Don’t mind the message just make sure you are preaching it to everyone. Could be that he’s injured though and that why he didn’t run hard, I don’t know.

Wrong. Looked to be a routine out at 1st, Yunel ran down the line at the same speed everyone not named Matt Diaz does, the throw was high, Yunel woulda been safe if he had ran harder. Next batter gets out to end the inning anyway. It was a real difference maker, I tell ya.
I hope the reason he’s out is because he’s hurting..well, I don’t want him hurt but YKWIM, but the thing is, DOB and the tv/radio guys usually have word on it by now if a guy comes out with an injury…

If Chipper wasn’t in the lineup yesterday, why didn’t Nate bat 3rd?
I know that only reason he isn’t batting third is because of Chipper’s pride…. So?

I do hold that standard to all players, but I can’t make Bobby sit them, lol, I would be saying the same thing if Chipper or Laroche or any of them were sat for no hustling. And if Esco can’t run then he should be on the bench anyways.

Where is the lack of effort?
I don’t recall Bobby sitting Andruw the last three years in Atlanta for not even running out balls hit to the third base corner.
Maybe if it was me at second base he would have a reason to run it out but last time I checked I never won an MVP or Gold Glove award or a single All Star selection. Utley had about a 20 foot throw.
Of course, Chipper gets to take it “EASY” but one our best hitters… and fielders… got taken out for not lunging to first base. Yeah, cause we want that to happen again.
Give me a mother f***ing break. Bobby Cox. You are an idiot.
Why not just replace him with Greg Norton while your at it?

You don’t say it though Marc. I haven’t heard anyone on here complaining about someone not busting it down the line lately when it happens every night on this team. I’ll say it once again, Diaz is the only one who does it all the time. Esco has injuries too, the end of the year, guy has a bad hip, Chipper is hurt, Church has a bad back. If any of these guys were in the game and didn’t bust it its because being in the lineup is more important that trying to beat out an easy groundout at this point of the season. Some of you guys don’t think about that. Its just that the guy is lazy or this and that.

The ball looked to be a straight fastball in the middle of the plate. Why our pitchers insist on putting it on a tee for this guy. D Lowe seems to be the only guy who knows how to consistently get this guy out.

What the hell are you talking about? Diaz runs harder down the line than anyone on this team, what are you smoking?
And I’m not going to complain on the blog everytime someone jogs down the line – my fingers would fall off in a week’s time.
My statement is that Escobar was wrong to not hussle, not that he’s the only one on the team that doesn’t hussle. Bobby picks on Esco more than anyone, that doesn’t make their lack of hussle any more acceptable, and doesn’t make Esco’s lack of hussle anymore acceptable. His injury can’t be that bad cause he floors it just fine when he wants to.
Prado and Diaz are the only two I know of that haul ass down the line every play. If you don’t agree with me you can be like 99.9% of the rest of the world and be wrong!

We can talk about slow starts, 5 game losing streaks, poor managerial decisions, Derek Lowe’s blisters, etc., but what may end up costing this team a play-off spot, is the continual decision to throw fat pitches to Ryan Howard.

pretty amazing how the phillies can lead the league in runs and only have 3 guys in the lineup with better than a .270 average.. (the braves’ entire lineup tonight is hitting .270 or better) oh thats right they score all of their runs off homers.

That was a pretty lazy play by Yunel and maybe he does beat it if he runs hard down the line but, I don’t know if that was the best time to teach him a lesson. The Braves can’t afford to lose many more games and they need Yunel in the game.

It certainly does appear that Yunel was replaced for not hustling to first base on that groundout. No announcement of any injury, and replay on Peachtree TV had the audio of Cox yelling “Hey” when he saw the throw was going to be a wide and Yunel wasn’t running hard.

The Braves seriously have to have the most hits with runners in scoring position without scoring a run this year.
We can get shutout for two games and then the first time we get a hit with a runner at second it’s a bullet to the right fielder.
Or in Tim Hudson’s case, the left fielder.
