Where is the Infamous Paul Lentz…?
Did he get Bozo’d again…?

this blog will explode. (faninva)
oh goody, that’s always a lot of fun
nolie – what is your most underrated tv show? just curious.
hereI’m gonna put The Office right up there just behind Mad Men as most overrated show on TV.
Nope. Definitely not. I think it gets the praise it deserves, not overrated, not underrated…

Since I like all of you, 25 cents a pop. For jeffrey, $1.00.
most left last season. Pushing Daisies, Boston Legal and Life. Brotherhood is still around.but Saving Grace is winding down
the real Andy
forgive me if this has already been pointed out, but Pedro Martinez has thrown 249 pitches in his last two starts. 249! that’s a lot of pitches for an old man
September 18th, 20096:41 pm
For jeffrey, $1.00.
Nope. Definitely not. I think it gets the praise it deserves, not overrated, not underrated…(JJ)
bah, I don’t ever get more than a chuckle or two per episode. WAYYYY overrated.
Great….it’s on Peachtree TV again which for some odd reason it was dropped from Cox cable’s lineup.
You’d think they’d at least notify somebody.
September 18th, 20096:43 pm
“I would think either Houston or Texas, since both are hitters’ parks, both in his home state, and the AL has the DH, which might be his (KJ’s) best ‘position.’” DOB
Perhaps he should just go straight to Round Rock and let Momma cook him dinner.
September 18th, 20096:44 pm
DOB – didn’t know you listened to the Bonnie Prince. if you’ve never seen him live, do yourself a favor and make it a point to do so. one of the best live performers i’ve ever seen.
That sucks Mixxo. Did you call them?

I think 30 Rock is an under-rated show
September 18th, 20096:46 pm
Too bad about Chipper being in the starting lineup…and Lowe not skipping his turn Monday!.
Bobby and I are going to have a serious talk after the game. I told Chipper he would have to sit until the current winning streak is over or until the regular season ends…whichever came first!
Now look what Bobby has done. Inferior third base defense tonight along with the ‘current’…weakest bat we have…in the 3 hole…again.
Bobby…you have some serious explaining to do, my friend, if this all backfires!!!

The real question is, if the Braves play themselves back into this thing will the pressure cause them to fold like a wet sandwich? The Braves claim they are playing this good because the pressure is off. Guess what? Teams that play well under pressure end up winning. Hope their mental makeup has changed. And right when the team has forgotten Chipper he is back in the lineup. Guess Chipper for the good of the team couldn’t stay out a few more games.
September 18th, 20096:49 pm
I think it’s too little, too late. What would a productive Chipper Jones and a real slugger have meant to this team? Getting closer though!
September 18th, 20096:50 pm
DOB: In answer to the blog question, I believe the Braves can at least win the wild card. I’ve been a Braves fan since they came to Atlanta, and I have never stopped believing.
While I’d rather see them win than lose, of course, I just love to watch the game.
I want you to know how much I have enjoyed you and Carroll writing the almost daily blogs and articles. Watching baseball and reading the articles on the computer is one thing I can do. I check the AJC site all during the night and day. THANKS.
Despite all the folks on the blog who have a different opinion, I think Bobby Cox has been a great manager and I’ll be sad to see him retire. I appreciate what he has done this year to keep his players in the chase this long.
I also appreciate Chipper putting himself back in the lineup. He can be a difference maker. While he has been having his problems recently, I think the Braves need him during this push. Not saying the Braves can’t get it done without him, just that there’s always the chance he gets hot.
Well no one mention it Jurrjens!
September 18th, 20096:51 pm
Believe it or not, blue skies over Turner Field … for now, at least.
Naw, I tried the other night and just got their automated crap.
Peachtree TV Hurts
September 18th, 20096:54 pm
Oh no! Peachtree TV again tonight! It’s the up and down volume thing again all night!
Blue skies…just in time~! Let’s Go Braves!!!!
It’s good to see spirited, relevant talk about a possible Braves playoff run this late in the year again. I remember thinking, probably only two-thirds of the way through their incredible run of divisional dominance, when they seemed to be getting eliminated earlier and earlier in the playoffs each post-season, that maybe in the long run it would be good for the team and its fans to go through a few years of lean times. Not because I was a fair-weather fan, but because I saw an uber-talented ballclub with a model, professional atmosphere who breezed through each regular season, only to be out-hustled and beaten by on-paper lesser teams who simply came out in that series with more passion and fire. I think the fans here sensed that too, so I’m careful before passing judgment on our diminishing crowds then or now.
Well, we’ve had those few years of lean times now, and let’s face it, it hasn’t been fun. Going to the ballpark isn’t quite as nice when the main attractions for fans are visiting superstars who are outshining anybody on your current hometown squad (just ask the Hawks whenever the Lakers, Cavs, or a half-dozen other teams come to town). We got used to excellence and came to take it for granted during the Braves’ big run, and yet we began to criticize them when we saw that window begin to close. Easy to do, I guess; it’s human nature. Smoltz, Glavine, Maddux, Lopez, McGriff, Galarraga, all the rest…they’re all gone now, and while we may only have a single World Championship banner hanging at Turner Field, I would happily state the case for the Braves’ induction into Cooperstown, if there were a place for excellence over a given period by a team as well as individual players. But reality folks, as Bobby Cox once said in an interview, is that playoff baseball more than any other pro sport is a crapshoot; definitely moreso than in the NFL (the 2008 Arizona Cardinals are an aberration, an example of a team that got hot and had a WHOLE LOT go wrong for the other teams facing them last year) and certainly in the NBA, where the more physically talented team almost always wins. Baseball has a 162-game schedule, far more than any other sport, but is a game of inches, of miracles and heartbreaks, and often seemingly random chance which defy the odds; they can come down to a single at-bat (I give you Francisco Cabrera) or mistake (Bill Buckner, anyone?).
So let’s appreciate the success we had with the understanding that the page is about to turn once again. Soon Bobby Cox and Chipper Jones, the last two links to those storied teams, will likely no longer be in the dugout at the Ted. It’s called change; it happens, and is inevitable. But for now, we still have THIS year, and it is still relevant. The math says the Braves have little hope of maintaining their current run of wins and sneaking into the playoffs, but who knows? Maybe this is OUR year to get in by the skin of our teeth, catch a couple of better-on-paper teams napping, and bring home a World Series trophy none of us ever saw coming.
Stranger things have happened, so dust off those tomahawks and let’s party like it’s 1991!
September 18th, 20096:55 pm
jeffrey d – I think we have had an interesting divergence of opinions today between people making fun of Chipper because he’s a wimp who won’t play when he has the tiniest ailment, and those who hate him for pretending that he’s well enough to play tonight
(to those in the second camp – I am ambivalent on whether he plays tonight – I’ll let you know my official opinion after the game – much easier that way to decide, after I see how he’s done)
September 18th, 20096:58 pm
No one mentioned 30 Rock as being a good/bad or over/under-rated show…I think its kind of a sleeper show…
Just thought I’d throw it out there…that’s all man

yeah great show. Tina rules!!!

“Mr Blue you’ll get it right, but soon comes Mr Night, creeping over, now his hand is on your shoulder, tell the man I remember you Mr…I remember you Mr Blue Sky”..
September 18th, 20097:10 pm
30 Rock is the best comedy in many years (of course, that is not as critically important a comment as to which pitcher I think should be jettisoned for next year, but I try to avoid conflict when possible)
September 18th, 20097:12 pm
One might nominate Javy Vazquez for that under-the-radar award in the NL. Only 167 hits allowed to go with a 216-40 strikeout-walk ratio in 197 1/3 innings? Ridiculous. ESPN Stats & Information has Vazquez second to Verlander with 393 swings and misses for the season. If the Braves, as suggested, have to move his contract this winter, he will be one of the most sought-after free agents
Pretty funny — the Geico “caveman” is doing the T-shirt shoot thing with the tomahawk girls, walking around the warning track with his full caveman makeup and hair and a Braves jersey.

JJ4NLCY Say what you will about DOBlog, but we have an astonishing ability to get off track…
That’s for sure!
But that makes it all the more fun!
September 18th, 20097:21 pm
My 5 all time favorite comedies:
3. Arrested Development
4. The Office
5. Will and Grace
Oh NO! Chipper is back? BALLGAME!!!
Sorry loser, I already called BALLGAME!!! back on page 1 after reading DOB’s blog title and theme of the day.
Hilarious: Medlen just went out to catch the ceremonial first pitch from some rich guy or another, and Medlen did so wearing his My Little Pony backpack, the thing he’s had to wear most of the season.
September 18th, 20097:24 pm
I’m gunna leave this one alone
HA, I hope they show a replay of Medlen.
September 18th, 20097:26 pm
Dang…didn’t know the Reaper was ill. Well this is no fun…
DOB Medlen just went out to catch the ceremonial first pitch…wearing his My Little Pony backpack
I love that.
Just asked Lowe about his blister and he said he’s fine and is going to make his start Monday at NY
September 18th, 20097:27 pm
Jurrjens4NLCY, how do you not have Mad TV on that list? Funnier than SNL. Stuart makes me laugh and his mom in that sketch looks, acts and talks juts like my girlfriends mom.
Me, too. They should have a photo of it in the game wrap-up as well.
September 18th, 20097:28 pm
DOB – its been sunny here since shortly after lunch, maybe you’ll stay dry over that way.
September 18th, 20097:29 pm
Calling Ballgame! on a game before the date of the actual game has arrived is akin to calling shotgun before you see the car.
September 18th, 20097:30 pm
FRIENDS OVER SNL? WHAT? Where is Seinfeld? The Chappelle Show? South Park even?
Thats a joke right? MADtv is like the minor leagues, not a single one of them can do a good impersonation, nor do they have any funny sketches, and if they do… They overkill them.
I have never laughed at an episode of MADtv or The George Lopez show…
September 18th, 20097:31 pm
I’m a trendsetter, Danga. Yes, I wear Wolf shirts. My favorite is the wolf with the american flag background.
Whoa! Nice shirt Chip.
Where is Seinfeld? The Chappelle Show? South Park even?
Seinfeld is 7th, and South Park is 10th, no Chappelle show, although I did like that skit where he was a blind KKK member…
September 18th, 20097:32 pm
RHR…You better believe I saw that one. I have both in my shopping car for next time I decide to order something from Amazon.
MADTV was excellent when Will Sasso was on the show with his Kenny Rogers and Steven Segal performances.
Not to mention Aries Spears, Mike MacDonald,
September 18th, 20097:33 pm
What kind of crowd tonight?
September 18th, 20097:35 pm
I like Hogan’s Heroes and Leave It To Beaver, but that’s another story…
What was with the golf balls they were hitting? Do they do that before every game?
September 18th, 20097:37 pm
No Victorino…Good for Braves
September 18th, 20097:38 pm
jeffrey d… may be a little over reaction to Chipper being in the lineup, but not completely. You know that Chipper has been a routine out regularly for the past 2+ months. Again, not to say that he won’t go 4 for 4 tonight, but honestly, I’d be really surprised. As for defense, if you’ve watched any of the recent games, I think that you’d have to agree that we lose nothing with Prado at 3B, and maybe gain a little. Just my $.02… YMMV
Nice Mac REAL nice!
I’ve had it with your D!!
And the list goes on and on…
September 18th, 20097:39 pm
There’s no one at the park tonight – Are you kidding me???
Hmm…that was embarrassing.
I think I hear Paul L coming.
September 18th, 20097:40 pm
Just not listed on their on-screen guide. Talked to a Cox guy (in Cleveland)….he didn’t have a clue.
Really? You don’t like his D? Why don’t you tell people that?
atta boy Timmy
September 18th, 20097:41 pm
Huddy bails out Mac……phew!
Wheres Soph, she is supposed to be back!
What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
Chip did it! “JAY” Happ…here comes McFang…
Anyone else having problem with MLB Extra Innings? Picture’s all screwed up though other games look ok.
nfieldr: I agree on Prado’s defense at 3rd. Dude is solid over there, really is.
September 18th, 20097:42 pm
Way to go, Huddy (this in no way implies an endorsement of which pitcher to jettison)!
Enter your comments here. Come on MARTIN, HR.
September 18th, 20097:43 pm
McFann :Ô: -
C’mon…the ball almost hit him on top of his coconut for cryin’ out loud.
Lets keep this in mind: The Phillies have not seen Hudson for over a year…
Joe: “Adam LaRoche with 25 home runs batting eighth…gotta love that.”
Clout gets caught slipping…
September 18th, 20097:44 pm
So I guess in Nova Scotia, MadTV was funnier than SNL down through the years, huh? OK.
By the way, how can anyone put Friends and Arrested Development on the same top-comedies list, and actually have Friends ahead of it? You’re serious about that list? Friends No. 1?
I know. I saw the d…arn play.
McFann at least it wasn’t as bad as Kelly Johnson’s famous misplay.
September 18th, 20097:46 pm
No no DOB….I’m just sayin MADTV had its moments and some good ones.
SNL blows it out of the water….or past tense blew it out of the water.
September 18th, 20097:47 pm
Did anyone watch Community last night? Any good?
I don’t care for either show right now
Fairchild’s a Phillies fan?
Brandon from Warner Robins
Good swing from Chipper.
September 18th, 20097:49 pm
Yes. I have Friends and SNL over AD…
Must be specific age group thing with the guy listing Friends no. 1 comedy, like 13 yr old girls nominating Miley whatshername no. 1 singer. There can’t be any other explanation.
Damn, MLB Extra all games except this one look ok. This game has become audio only, which is a really horrible considering the guys commenting.
September 18th, 20097:50 pm
Good job Chipper on the hit – unless of course you screw up after this, in which case you are so worthless!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
