Greg Norton will pad a lead with an RBI hit in the 5th of a rain delayed game, thus chasing Happ. The Phightens will be forced into the pen, further exhausting their pitching. When they do need it to salvage on Sunday, it’ll be entirely to late. They will then have one day off before playing a makeup double header on Tuesday in Miami, further exhausting the pitching staff, The Phightens will then hobble home to face Houston for 4 and Milwaukee for 4 losing 6 of those games because Berkman, Lee, Fielder and Braun will terrorize the shoebox in which they play.

How bout those Angels? They’re still complaining about those umps in the Red Sox series and it’s still making headlines.

Bill Hohn was absolutely ridiculous against the Braves. But we didn’t say much after that night. Well, we did, but the Braves didn’t.

David –

Was your flooding problem mentioned a day or so ago caused by the gutter pull away and clogged gutters or something else?

I’ve got some downspout parts in my car right now to hopefully fix clogging downspouts… gonna install soon and get the fall leaf and spring pollen test.

Just make sure you use those powers for good, JJ. That’s a mighty powerful responsibility you have.

By the by, On Monday your keys will be in your right pocket on your Levi’s with that little rip over the thigh, and your sunglasses will be on your head. I just saved you 35 minutes on your way to work. Your welcome, oh and watch out for side-swipes at intersections (Thats all I’ll say about that…)

Dave,

I did not realize the other day when I getting on Chipper for quiting on the team that we were only 5 back, now 4 1/2, I assumed once it hit 9 we were done.

I’m still mad at Chipper and if we end up missing the playoffs by a game or 2, I’ll be even madder at CJ.
Even though he is hurt, I still say taking himself out out of the lineup contributed to that 1 – 6 week.

But if we can some how take 2 of 3 from Phillie and win 12-13 of the last 16 we got a shot,Go Braves!!!

So, I was about to explain to Coach, that, you know, I kind of strained my Johnson Tendon while picking my nose and I needed a couple more days off, when he started talking about “Aw go ahead, Scrotum-head, we’re doing just fine WITHOUT your overpaid underperforming pudgy white ass!” So I figure, maybe I should “re-insert” myself and take a swing or two, you know, just until huntin’ season starts…I mean, shoot, I can buy YOUR house with the pay I get for each game, so what the hell…

If BC had any gumption he’d tell CJ to sit his “you know what” on the bench until he’s good and healed and won’t hurt the team, but NO!!!! Hope he plays well but you just know that groin didn’t heal magically overnight! Good grief! The arrogance! This is why I don’t buy what Chipper said about walking away from the game if he couldn’t be a good player.”Not wanting to hurt the club.” You could have fooled me!

Let me explain the basis of that joke at risk of compromising its hilarity…

You listed three things: 2 tragic, 1 non so much. I wrote, “Thats HORRIBLE!!!…”.
That would leave you to believe I wish to further discuss the tragic events (i. e. McFann moving away, Soph’s skydiving accident). I however, and this is the joke, proceed to talk about the aforementioned College Football game… As such, I need to write a lewd opinion on the game (i. e. “South Carolina totally should have won that game…”)

Two things,
1). Is Gonzalez available?
2). Since he had already admitted to holding out on the training staff when he couldn’t feel the ball coming out of his hand in Colorado, shouldn’t the Braves be keeping a close eye on Gonzalez and not trusting him to tell them when he’s hurt? I suppose they don’t care since he’s a free agent after the season and likely won’t return, but still. I really hope someone gives Bobby and Roger a lesson or two over how to manage a bullpen this off-season. I’m not usually bashing the coaching staff, but this is a pet peeve of mine and the Braves are so bad at it. It’s frustrating.

It’s probably been posted, but the updated lineup with Chipper in (and Prado moves to 2B):

1. McLouth
2. Prado
3. Chipper
4. McCann
5. Escobar
6. Anderson
7. Diaz
8. LaRoche
9. Hudson

Chipper went out early in afternoon, took grounders and ran in outfield, felt good, so he was put in there.

When I asked Bobby about any reluctancy to change lineup when going so well: “He’s ready to go. When Chipper gets hot, he’s been known to carry a team.”

Just talked to Heyward at the batting cage. All the Braves’ minor league players of the year from each level (he got the overall award, with Kimbrel the top pitcher) are here, in jackets and ties. Heyward, as we’ve said many times, is almost as impressive in interviews as he is on the field. Very mature.

They’ve got a Venezuelan 3B, Edison Sanchez, who’s about 6-foot-4 and was their DSL player of year. Big kid, hit .283 with a .447 OBP and .900 OPS, four triples, four homers and nine stolen bases in 159 at-bats and 49 games.

Enter your comments here Why doesn’t Atlanta support this team? Especially with the inexpensive
seats and the nice ballpark. In Boston we have an old crummy ballpark with many partially obstructed
seats and the cheapest tickets are about $60 and they have sold out every game for the last 5 years.
Traffic and parking is horrific also (Parking fees near the ballpark are in the $50 range). If I lived near
Atlanta, I would attend many, many games. And by the way, my Patriots tickets cost $169 each.

As a Braves fan residing in Pa., I see far more of the Phillies than i do the Braves. Phillies starting pitching is just as good recently as the Braves starters have been. Their bullpen while shaky. is still getting it done for the most part. That said, I don’t think the Braves can overhaul the Phils even if they sweep this series. The Phils aren’t the Mets, I don’t think they can play that poorly the next 2 wks to to lose the division. IMO that race is over.

I also don’t believe that the Braves can climb over both Frisco and Colorado to win the WC.

The early season when Cox put 4 or 5 automatic outs in the lineup every night has been what has killed this team. Games you win in April and May are just as important as games you win in September, but our bonehead manager doesn’t seem to agree with the rest of us.
