Brave in WV……absolutely GREAT post!
White Blood Cells
September 18th, 20095:32 pm
Greg Norton will pad a lead with an RBI hit in the 5th of a rain delayed game, thus chasing Happ. The Phightens will be forced into the pen, further exhausting their pitching. When they do need it to salvage on Sunday, it’ll be entirely to late. They will then have one day off before playing a makeup double header on Tuesday in Miami, further exhausting the pitching staff, The Phightens will then hobble home to face Houston for 4 and Milwaukee for 4 losing 6 of those games because Berkman, Lee, Fielder and Braun will terrorize the shoebox in which they play.
September 18th, 20095:33 pm
I was really feelin’ the lineup minus Chipper!
How bout those Angels? They’re still complaining about those umps in the Red Sox series and it’s still making headlines.
Bill Hohn was absolutely ridiculous against the Braves. But we didn’t say much after that night. Well, we did, but the Braves didn’t.
Was your flooding problem mentioned a day or so ago caused by the gutter pull away and clogged gutters or something else?
I’ve got some downspout parts in my car right now to hopefully fix clogging downspouts… gonna install soon and get the fall leaf and spring pollen test.
September 18th, 20095:35 pm
Just make sure you use those powers for good, JJ. That’s a mighty powerful responsibility you have.
You got it…
By the by, On Monday your keys will be in your right pocket on your Levi’s with that little rip over the thigh, and your sunglasses will be on your head. I just saved you 35 minutes on your way to work. Your welcome, oh and watch out for side-swipes at intersections (Thats all I’ll say about that…)
September 18th, 20095:37 pm
I did not realize the other day when I getting on Chipper for quiting on the team that we were only 5 back, now 4 1/2, I assumed once it hit 9 we were done.
I’m still mad at Chipper and if we end up missing the playoffs by a game or 2, I’ll be even madder at CJ.
Even though he is hurt, I still say taking himself out out of the lineup contributed to that 1 – 6 week.
But if we can some how take 2 of 3 from Phillie and win 12-13 of the last 16 we got a shot,Go Braves!!!
September 18th, 20095:38 pm
Well I meant more for fighting crime, but thanks…I can never find my keys.
So, I was about to explain to Coach, that, you know, I kind of strained my Johnson Tendon while picking my nose and I needed a couple more days off, when he started talking about “Aw go ahead, Scrotum-head, we’re doing just fine WITHOUT your overpaid underperforming pudgy white ass!” So I figure, maybe I should “re-insert” myself and take a swing or two, you know, just until huntin’ season starts…I mean, shoot, I can buy YOUR house with the pay I get for each game, so what the hell…
September 18th, 20095:39 pm
Outta here for the whole weekend……GO BRAVES!!!!!!!
September 18th, 20095:40 pm
AJ Happ – torn intercoastal muscle (whatever that is), No JC Romero, No Chan Ho Park, Madsen can’t close, Lidge can’t close. It’s still ours for the taking.
September 18th, 20095:42 pm
Crime? F that! I’m going to invest in the stock market…
*Checks “Future App”*
Where is McFann and Soph and Rob from SC??
I miss them!
If BC had any gumption he’d tell CJ to sit his “you know what” on the bench until he’s good and healed and won’t hurt the team, but NO!!!! Hope he plays well but you just know that groin didn’t heal magically overnight! Good grief! The arrogance! This is why I don’t buy what Chipper said about walking away from the game if he couldn’t be a good player.”Not wanting to hurt the club.” You could have fooled me!
RIP Jimi Hendrix
40 years today I was lost to the world but the Braves are not done yet !
September 18th, 20095:45 pm
McFann’s family moved to Bolivia and they have limited internet access. Rob was so distraught over the UGA/USC game last weekend that he’s been in counseling all week.
And Soph, well….I hate to break it to you, but she went skydiving on Tuesday and accidentally brought an umbrella instead of a parachute. It was briefly hilarious before turning tragic.
September 18th, 20095:46 pm
Her last words were
“Tell JJ that —”
Bless her soul.
September 18th, 20095:47 pm
I bet the Braves are playing well enough now to give Cox the energy to come back next year for 1 more year. No playoffs but 1 more year of Cox.
Now if the Braves take 2 of 3 from the Phils or sweep them and can gain a game on the Rockies this weekend….
I thought Hendrix died in 1970?
September 18th, 20095:49 pm
Dear Braves’ pitching,
PLEASE don’t throw anything to Ryan Howard that would let him get his arms fully extended. Heck, don’t throw him anything that he could swing at and hit.
September 18th, 20095:50 pm
My bad, yes, Sep 18, 1970… oops… err 39 years
This series really comes down to one thing: has Donk learned his lesson and will walk Howard?
Or does he have to see the man singlehandedly beat us a few more times before deciding that taking the bat out of his hands is the best strategy?
South Carolina totally should have won that game…
So sad, so very sad…
September 18th, 20095:51 pm
Still, I didn’t realize today was the anniversary of his death. The man was a musical genius. Great voice too
Is that a question or a statement…
September 18th, 20095:52 pm
And before you get smart, that was a question…
South Carolina totally should have won that game…
No. They shouldn’t have.
Soph's Ghostly Spirit
September 18th, 20095:54 pm
Who should I haunt first?
September 18th, 20095:55 pm
Ryan Howard ranks 3rd in strikeouts this year.
Jayson Werth ranks 5th in strikeouts this year.
Raul Ibanez ranks 8th in strikeouts this year.
Don’t be afraid, we are not playing in their shoebox.
September 18th, 20095:56 pm
He’s scarier than me!
September 18th, 20095:57 pm
I’ll bet Schafer’s still in the top 10
Steve from OH
September 18th, 20095:58 pm
I’m glad I took the time to read through all the comments, because scoots’ 4:41 (ish) was hilarious. Tip o’ the cap, sir.
Oh, and I don’t know if it has been noted, but BA named Heyward the Braves’ minor league POY (duh) and Craig Kimbrel pitcher of the year. Christian Bethancourt was their man to keep an eye on.
Let me explain the basis of that joke at risk of compromising its hilarity…
You listed three things: 2 tragic, 1 non so much. I wrote, “Thats HORRIBLE!!!…”.
That would leave you to believe I wish to further discuss the tragic events (i. e. McFann moving away, Soph’s skydiving accident). I however, and this is the joke, proceed to talk about the aforementioned College Football game… As such, I need to write a lewd opinion on the game (i. e. “South Carolina totally should have won that game…”)
Rob from SC AKA - Derek Lowe sucks
September 18th, 20095:59 pm
Welcome back buddy. You’ve been missed.
September 18th, 20096:01 pm
Oh I gotcha. I thought you were one of the anti-Georgia people (like Lentz) who were rooting for us to lose and got real excited in the first quarter. Sorry for spoiling the joke.
P. W. Hjort
1). Is Gonzalez available?
2). Since he had already admitted to holding out on the training staff when he couldn’t feel the ball coming out of his hand in Colorado, shouldn’t the Braves be keeping a close eye on Gonzalez and not trusting him to tell them when he’s hurt? I suppose they don’t care since he’s a free agent after the season and likely won’t return, but still. I really hope someone gives Bobby and Roger a lesson or two over how to manage a bullpen this off-season. I’m not usually bashing the coaching staff, but this is a pet peeve of mine and the Braves are so bad at it. It’s frustrating.
September 18th, 20096:02 pm
Welcome back buddy. You’ve been missed.
A lot has happened since I’ve left…
The Braves lost postseason hopes
Chipper got injuried
I auditioned for the MEHS’s production of “The Musical Comedy Murders of the 1940s” and made it
The Braves regained postseason hopes
Chipper came back
The Braves lost their postseason hopes (again)
September 18th, 20096:03 pm
Musical Comedy Murders of the 1940’s?
September 18th, 20096:04 pm
Sorry for spoiling the joke.
I couldn’t care less about College Football, or Football in that matter, all I know is Michael Vick is… well, Michael Vick, Falcon we’re good last year and had a good QB, and the Bears suck…
Go Falcons! (BUT WAIT YOUR TURN!)
September 18th, 20096:05 pm
Are we singing again?
wb, JJ. By the way, I got your joke. jeffrey’s been slow this week.
Train Wreck Bystander
September 18th, 20096:06 pm
According to ESPN (ref: http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings), our Braves have a 7.4% chance of making the post-season. It was about 3% last Monday. Things are looking up.
Its real, I promise
Soph! You’re alive!
jeffrey’s been slow this week.
September 18th, 20096:07 pm
stopped watching the braves on the weekends in favor of College Football so therefore I haven’t had a BF in 2 weeks knowing that the braves are eliminated… Tomahawkin
That’s great news. keep it up.
It’s probably been posted, but the updated lineup with Chipper in (and Prado moves to 2B):
Chipper went out early in afternoon, took grounders and ran in outfield, felt good, so he was put in there.
When I asked Bobby about any reluctancy to change lineup when going so well: “He’s ready to go. When Chipper gets hot, he’s been known to carry a team.”
I believed it was real, I just wasn’t sure what it was, since there’s 4 different topics in the title.
September 18th, 20096:08 pm
Lets crush Happ and get this 7 game winning streak to 8.
I actually hope Huddo is a little tired and gets that sinker working from Inning 1
We have a chance
September 18th, 20096:09 pm
My day isn’t complete until you tell me to shut up. It’s become tradition.
I can tell, I think its about time me and him switched awards…
I sure hope Quitter Jones hangs ‘em up after this season. I can’t take any more errors or excuses from his defenders!
September 18th, 20096:10 pm
abwright Only thing not “loosey-goosey” …McCann still has to hold down the four spot.
Yeah, dagnabbit…and against J.A. Happ, no less…
faninva Where’s Rally McTurtle?
jeffrey d, Jurrjens4NLCY–
Hi from Bolivia!
Oh NO! Chipper is back? BALLGAME!!!
Oops…thought that arrow was gonna be pointing the other way…
September 18th, 20096:11 pm
And like day follows night, McFann, Soph, and Rob are all back
September 18th, 20096:13 pm
Just talked to Heyward at the batting cage. All the Braves’ minor league players of the year from each level (he got the overall award, with Kimbrel the top pitcher) are here, in jackets and ties. Heyward, as we’ve said many times, is almost as impressive in interviews as he is on the field. Very mature.
They’ve got a Venezuelan 3B, Edison Sanchez, who’s about 6-foot-4 and was their DSL player of year. Big kid, hit .283 with a .447 OBP and .900 OPS, four triples, four homers and nine stolen bases in 159 at-bats and 49 games.
September 18th, 20096:14 pm
Lol, Its a parody of 1940’s mystery movies, its like “Clue: The Play”
61 year Braves Fan
Enter your comments here Why doesn’t Atlanta support this team? Especially with the inexpensive
seats and the nice ballpark. In Boston we have an old crummy ballpark with many partially obstructed
seats and the cheapest tickets are about $60 and they have sold out every game for the last 5 years.
Traffic and parking is horrific also (Parking fees near the ballpark are in the $50 range). If I lived near
Atlanta, I would attend many, many games. And by the way, my Patriots tickets cost $169 each.

As a Braves fan residing in Pa., I see far more of the Phillies than i do the Braves. Phillies starting pitching is just as good recently as the Braves starters have been. Their bullpen while shaky. is still getting it done for the most part. That said, I don’t think the Braves can overhaul the Phils even if they sweep this series. The Phils aren’t the Mets, I don’t think they can play that poorly the next 2 wks to to lose the division. IMO that race is over.
I also don’t believe that the Braves can climb over both Frisco and Colorado to win the WC.
The early season when Cox put 4 or 5 automatic outs in the lineup every night has been what has killed this team. Games you win in April and May are just as important as games you win in September, but our bonehead manager doesn’t seem to agree with the rest of us.
Soph! You’re here!
He is so mean to you.
September 18th, 20096:15 pm
After reading this: When I asked Bobby about any reluctancy to change lineup when going so well: “He’s ready to go. When Chipper gets hot, he’s been known to carry a team.”
I will be very dissappointed if Chipper has a bad game, but somehow, I think Bobby is right.
September 18th, 20096:16 pm
jeffrey d And like day follows night, McFann, Soph, and Rob are all back
Naturally. I cann tell when I’m needed.
PS–Thanks for the new lineup, Chief.
I do like Clue

September 18th, 20096:17 pm
Hey…I’ve said before that those shut ups are out of endearment.
MAN! This laptop has given me powers!
I say! Where is Chipper Jone’s power production??
I’m a nervous wreck.
its like being a Red Sox fan pre 2006….ugh…..
Just asked Lowe about his blister and he said he’s fine and is going to make his start Monday at NY
BMac is 1-10 with a double, 2 K’s, and a walk against J.A. Happ.
And the first broadcaster to call him “JAY” Happ is gonna get it from McFang…
September 18th, 20096:18 pm
In the flesh, McFann.
My ghostly spirit was around earlier but she left.
He is so mean to you.
That he is. What can you do? I’m used to it now.
September 18th, 20096:19 pm
Hope it’s Chip…
Clue? The board game? Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with the candlestick.
September 18th, 20096:20 pm
jeffrey d Hey…I’ve said before that those shut ups are out of endearment.
I was only messin’ with ya. Geez, you are slow today.
Fine. Next time I want to say shut up I’ll just say something nice about you.
September 18th, 2009
its like being a Red Sox fan pre 2006….ugh…..
Fun ain’t it?
The Real Don Steele
Current line-up is much weaker than the first one posted. Will we get the steady diet of pop-ups, bouncing grounders, weak fly balls and strikeouts from Chipper or something different? This could signal the end of the winning streak. Should know after the bottom of the first.
September 18th, 20096:21 pm
Your hair looks nice Soph. It was Professor Plum, duh.
Nova Scotia Steve - Is Worried about the Perverbial Elephant in the Room
September 18th, 20096:22 pm
Lowe+Mets = DISASTER
But thanks for the info DOB
My goodness, people…we swapped Chipper Jones for Omar Infante. You’re acting like Babe Ruth was pulled for Raf Belliard.
September 18th, 20096:23 pm
HA! Like Colonel Mustard could commit murder with a candlestick at his age, with his arthritis…
Don’t be silly Soph…
Good! I saw your spirit…maybe she left to go haunt the Fillies.
Yeah…ya know, just one of those things you have to learn to live with, I guess.
I like the board game “Clue”, too. We have the Disney World Haunted Mansion version, though.
jeffrey d Hope it’s Chip…
I’m sure it will be…
Ugh, stick with the shut ups please, jeffrey. And, duh is my word.
September 18th, 20096:24 pm
September 18th, 20096:25 pm
Speaking of Chip, there’s a good vent about him today…
Does Chip Caray get paid extra for every cliche he uses?
Fine, Ms. Scarlett in the study with the rope.
September 18th, 20096:26 pm
And, duh is my word.
I thought it was “by the by”
No wait that’s me…
“Paul Lentz sucks!”?
No, thats jeffrey d’s…

September 18th, 20096:30 pm
Oooh sure, and Julia Roberts DOESN’T have lips the size of Baboons behind…
Say what you will about DOBlog, but we have an astonishing ability to get off track…
61 year Brave Fan – sell the Patriots tickets and buy some advance airfares to Atlanta and then you can enjoy our games….. I figure they probably have a $300 special return airfare so with hotel you could come to 1 Braves game for every 3-4 Patriots games…. save freezing your butt off up there in MASS as well
September 18th, 20096:31 pm
DOB what did you think about the opening to The Office last night? Probably the best in a long time?
still not sure about changing the lineup with the streak we’re on. god help this blog tonight if chipper comes to the plate with 2 on and 1 out in the ninth with a chance to win the game and he grounds into a double play. this blog will explode.
