Glad McCann came through for us and tied the game up!! Wait, what? Nevermind….
The Abs Man
a 3-1 deficient. Me bad. But not as bad as Cox.
philly fan doc
You people really think you can beat us????
“THen putting in Logan and Acosta instead of EOF and Soriano.”
Gonzo is hurt and EOF worked two straight days. Third day probably would have meant not as much control. Logan for a lefty looked like the only choice. Not saying Bobby is perfect. Just saying the lefty situation was a little shaky to begin the game. I unlike most posters don’t fall into one of the two categories where you either hate Bobby or love him. I take it the way I see it, he’s not God but he ain’t satan either.
Nunez – good chance to start earning your spot in the bullpen next year
Enter your comments here. We can do this. Let’s win. It beats losin’.
September 18th, 200910:12 pm
Remember how nice the blog was when the band wagon jumpers had jumped off? Well, they’re back, pissing and moaning again.
Ahhh, memories. You’re right though.
September 18th, 200910:13 pm
I have to admit, it’ll make me very happy when the Rangers are eliminated.
Jake – maybe EOF should not have been used in the bigger wins over the Muts and just used in the 6-5 game. Cox wastes pitchers in blow out games then they are not available when you need them.
Fans, avid fans, long-time knowledgeable patrons know when Cox screws up.
As in bringing in the bottom of the bullpen in a must-win game.
richbrave – hey, buddy, you need to delete ‘enter your comments here’ before you type your post – not working as usual
Way to go BMac!!!
Think they can pull off a 9th inning win tonight if they can hold the Phils to a 2 run lead right here?
Ummm, Moylan last pitched 2 days ago, so I am sure he was available today, Bobby should have definitely used him with that bases loaded situation instead of Acostus.
I f***ing hate this guy.
Come on Braves reliever.
September 18th, 200910:14 pm
I have less problems with Boone logan than I do with Acosta.
Not going to happen this weekend. Your team isn’t the teams of the 90’s…………………… On a good note. Skynyrds new album will be out in 11 days.
Just got home…and I want it noted that between the bottom of the 8th and now I shaved my beard. So if the Braves rally, we’ll know why.
How old is Stairs? He looks old enough to be my uncle and I’m 37 for cryin out loud.
September 18th, 200910:15 pm
thanks OJ – I agree – The acosta move was suspect. Acosta has been terrible this year
Enter your comments here. Alright VLAD the IMPALER. CUBANO, let’s get that DP.
Good thing Soriano had some work last night beating Mets, 7-2.
Not as if you MIGHT NEED HIM THIS weekend.
Since I like all of you, 25 cents a pop. For jeffrey, $1.00.
Ugh, Dacoooola won. jeffrey must be celebrating.
Well I’m sure feeling the love tonight.
September 18th, 200910:16 pm
jeffrey D – what do you have to shave to stop the walks?
Dangit!!!!! Back to back freakin’ walks??!?!!
Nunez, Come On!!!
Vladmir Nunez into 5-3 game.
What not Vladimir Putin?
Would be just as effective.
Great, top of the lineup is back in there. Can this get any worse?
September 18th, 200910:17 pm
Beards/turtles only affect offense
F U Bobby!!!
Send in Mahoney
Son of a b*tch!!!!!!!!
Now I know how the fans of other teams feel when their pitchers walk Greg Norton.
Our bullpen sucks.
2 walks and a HR after the Braves cut it to 2 with Lidge coming in. Unbelievable. Bullpen has been awful today.
great job bobby.
September 18th, 200910:18 pm
Nope, it’s over. Well, guys, it’s been fun most of the time. Good night, all.
Nail in the coffin….
Can this team and more importantly that lard a$$ of a manager be any more pathetic?
I despise the Fillies with a very deep passion…
We ain’t playin the Mets anymore.
FIRE COX and throw Chip Carey out of the booth Fire COX
Well, this was a meaningless, throwaway game anyway with no importance to the Braves. At least that’s the way the HOF manager saw it. Let’s give our JV guys some work, right Donk?
Defending World champs…meet the 2009 Atlanta Braves
This is Pathetic!!!
Now we are Getting Clowned!!!
Guess they figure they are done now, so why not give up a couple more homers?!?
WTF IS BOBBY DOING…IS HE ASLEEP?
well Manny – I guess the position in the bullpen is still open – Nunez not exactly claiming his spot today
September 18th, 200910:19 pm
We really need to find out what Terry Forster is doing these days.
Nevermind…looks like Mahoney’s already in.
Now Bobby won’t have Norton to use with two on in case it was 5-3 game.
this calls for drinking.. over and out everybody have fun tonight and
I do believe someone just let the air out of my balloon
Guess we won’t be winning our final 23 games after all…
Long Drive Jimmy Rollins ….. that balls outta here!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to bed Braves fans. Just go Saturday take the little woman out to your favorite watering hole. Cause we got Pedro Martinez tomorrow……….. Long Drive Fransico………. That balls …………..Outta here!!!!!!!!
Where have we been hiding this Nunez guy? So…HOF manager doesn’t throw him against the Mets and Reds…we save him for the Phils. No wonder Donk is headed to Cooperstown!
September 18th, 200910:20 pm
SouthernBelleBrave Think they can pull off a 9th inning win tonight if they can hold the Phils to a 2 run lead right here?
I need a Mountain Dew.
WTF, I am sure there are other pitchers in the pen that could do a better job than these clowns.
Well, the big CUBAN’s second and last chance of making the club is over.
Hey we’re still in this one: HOF manager has the ghost of Buddy Carlyle warming up!
I wonder if Bobby is taking notes from the Phillies. Closer up in the pen. Lead is extended to where it is not a save situation. Sit closer down to not waste him.
Can’t wait for college football tomorrow…its bound to better than this crap! Goodnight all.
Watch Philly sign Gonzo and/or Soriano this off-season.
And we’ll be left with Nunez, Acosta, Bang & Ohlufsen, My Little Pony.
September 18th, 200910:21 pm
Pft…Norton could hit a 7 run homer.
nothing to see here…everybody go home…
soph – I would need something in that Mountain Dew
Can anyone honestly watching this parade of bottom feeders of bullpen rationalize Bobby Cox deserves a mental exam?
Well, now i am done, going to go play MLB 2K9, maybe then the Braves will beat the stupid Phaggies for once.
Why couldn’t Chipper just get one may daus rest….to keep the winning streak going!!
@BravesgirlNC……. Meet your world Series Champion’s the Philadelphia Phillies.
Looks like I shaved for no reason.
That, and I’d like to not stay single forever.
This is not going to be the perfect sports weekend for me.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like that.
Souvenirs for everyone tonight. Left and right.
What goes through Bobby’s head? Maybe he’s not eating right.
How about one more Mr. Howard?
So let me get this right, Bobby is right when he decides to bench Esco for something that everyone on this team outside of Matt Diaz does but he is wrong when he uses EOF and others in the bullpen because it obvious you can’t trust anyone else outside of the people named Gonzo, Soriano, EOF, and Moylan. You related to Bobby because you may not agree with him this time but your mode of thinking is just like him. Two peas in a pod.
Thank you all for coming. Cox the amazing is happy to have disappointed us all yet again as he snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. Com again, Cox the amazing is always here….. unfortunately.
That OR MAYBE BECAUSE I’d like to not stay single forever**
September 18th, 200910:22 pm
The team is resilient. The manager operates on cruise control.
odds of Braves coming back from a 6 run deficit in the bottom of the 9th knowing that Norton will be coming to bat???
I have always been a Cox supporter, but this year he has changed my mind. He has lost it and is now hurting this team instead of helping. He no longer knows how to properly motivate players and our lack of top talent makes his misuse of the bullpen and poor in game decisions debilitating.
Jeffrey D – think hockey. No more shaving until the Braves are officially eliminated
September 18th, 200910:23 pm
Hey, that Miami game was good last night.
I got an idea. Put blindfolds on Chipper, Manny Acosta, the HOF manager and Chip Caray. Spin ‘em around a few times, drop ‘em off in the ‘hood about a half-mile from the Ted, and make them find their way back.
September 18th, 200910:24 pm
Too late for that, brian.
The beard saw a 5 game losing streak and a 7 game winning streak, so I don’t think it had any mystical powers. Unless we rally in the 9th. Then I’ll keep talking about it until you guys kick me out.
philly fan doc
OMG, philly fan way to beat up on the Gwinnett Braves. Unfortunatly for you they will not be making an appearance in this years playoffs. Seriously man, we are no threat to you at this point in the season. Get a life. I bet you boo’d that little girl in Philly for throwing the ball back. Just par for the course for your kind.
September 18th, 200910:25 pm
Yeah, this board is just FULL of Tech fans. Way to get our goats, doc.
Meanwhile, we may have found a use for Nunez.
does he try to be stupid. He will throw Moylan, Gonzo, and Soriano out there night after night. Even on nights that we are either getting blown out or winning by many runs. Yet when it really counts and can matter, he chooses Nunez, Acosta, and Logan? What a dumba$$.
I’m out, we won/winning. see you saturday.
September 18th, 200910:26 pm
philly fan doc,
How many wins do you have against us now? 6?
No, I think we’re looking at 7 now… so techincally 6.
We have 9.
A serious question….Will Escobar be with the Braves next year?…The mere fact that I can ask that question SERIOUSLY…about such a talented, young, inexpensive player…is indeed a sad situation.
I heart Loaf. I really do.
@Jake. Having a school holiday??????
September 18th, 200910:27 pm
By the way, Gonzo not telling the team about his bad back, may have contributed to tonight’s collapse.
He sits that night, gets his two days, and maybe he’s available tonight.
Instead, we get some Newnez guy.
I mean look at that hustle.
Money off the board next year:
Kotchman 2.885M – his $ and not Laroche are being paid now
Norton 800k – there’s no way! Right?
That’s $34,310,000 off the books.
I don’t know what built in raises are coming up but here’s a guess for replacements.
Konerko 12M (the following yr, Freeman 400k)
Figgins 9M (3 yrs, 27M)
Kevin Gregg RP 2.5M?
Gonzalez or Joe Beimel or Scott Eyre
Other FA decent bullpen options:
Will Ohman (again)
Chad Cordero (can he be healthy again?)
September 18th, 200910:28 pm
Chipper Jones looks more and more like “Johnny Drama” on Entourage. Although Drama can still catch up with the fastball.
nice try to get a personal shot in there Jake. I said that Escobar deserves to be disciplined but I disagreed with benching him in this game because it punishes the team in addition to Escobar (and that it adds to Wren’s decisions in the offseason if Escobar’s attitude has become that bad).
I also said that Cox was wrong to use EOF, Soriano, etc in games where the Braves are well ahead – such as a 7-3 win or other blow outs because it could keep them from being available when they are needed the most.
That is nothing similar to your attempted slam and misstatements above.
If the only way you can make arguments is trying to slam someone personally, you need to work on your debating skills
September 18th, 200910:29 pm
It’s gonna be fun on here tonight.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
