Chippie really needs to go with Bobby. He is reduced to 3 infield hits in 3 days. He has more errors that homers. He needs to go back to school and learn how to talk. He's pitiful.

The best deals are the ones that are not made, i.e. Bonds, Peavey, Burnett, Tex (oops that one was made). If the Brave trade or fail to sign Vasquez, and LaRoche, they are fools.
If our starters can average 7 innings, our bullpen problems will be solved. That would be worth 2 arms in the pen! To average 7 innings we just have to change BC's penchant for yanking his starters to early, These guys are good let them pitch! quit micro managing. Would a 112 pitch count average kill these guys. According to Dr. Mike Marshall it is mechanics not innings that kill elbows and shoulders. What is wrong with 6 starters, the competition for the five positions will be fun to watch. I like having the insurance of the extra arm on hand. Can we really expect to have no injuries to the rotation again! Pencil in Kwakami for 12 to 15 starts next summer, keep everybody fresh with 25 to 27 starts.
As it stands or only real holes to fill next year are 2nd base and 3rd base. For the rest if it ain't broke don't fix it! The outfield will be OK, Diaz is hitting .320! McClouth makes everybody better with his plate discipline and energy. Heyward, G.Anderson, Goerky, or Church will do fine. The grass isn't any greener in the other guys outfield.

House of Cards...I think this teams second half resurgence speaks much more to the fact that they are getting much more production out of 2b, RF, and 1b than they were in the first 3 months of the season. I am not sure how you measure fire or spirit or any of those things. How you identify that in a player? You win baseball games by scoring more runs than the other teams not be a certain look in the eye. Right now the Braves are getting great pitching to go along with some timely hitting thus we win 7 games in a row. It is fun to watch. Hopefully we can keep it up against a good team in the Phils.

As far as the Vazquez discussion goes, I am in the sell high club. Chances are he doesn't pitch like this again next year, and he definitely will be a free agent at the end of next year.

Why not keep all 6 pitchers? KK has shown that he can be effective out of the bullpen, and history has shown you can NEVER have enough starting pitching. I think it's important for the Braves to protect themselves from giving up games if a starter goes down, and in my mind the best way to do that is have a good starting pitcher in reserve. Assuming the money can also be found to resign LaRoche and that Heyward is ready next season, I think your best shot at winning in 2010 is to add a bullpen arm or two, and push forward with what you've got.

White Blood Cells, 3:23 pm ... "abwright, My late father and I attended #13, it was brillant."

That has to be a memory of memories for you. I've attended many baseball games, but never anything quite as amazing as the games in that streak. Plus, you got to go with your dad, even better!

Mitchell, you were wondering how 53% of fans wanted Cox to come back. The answer to that is we are not ranters who get angry over every move made and hindsight 20/20 everything that is done. The majority of fans know being a manager is a crap-shoot with the decisions and you could take every manager in baseball and criticise some moves they make. Go on any other major league blog and read what they are saying about their manager,it is everywhere. Blogging is not for the logical, mostly for others.
