Was listening in the car as it took me 2+ hours to get home tonight. Hubby working to 9, so I’m now watching. I love this, but I’m sorry I missed seeing GA make a sliding catch. Did anybody wonder if hell had frozen over?
LaRoche, what a b@stard. He has the nerve–the nerve–to hit not one but two solo homers in one game!? He can’t hit ‘em with men on base? Selfish punk. Doesn’t he know we need grand slams and complete games just to ease my delicate psyche?
Don’t even get me started on how the second homer was in a 5-run game…
keylargo – New low for NMB at 8:00; just pitiful taste.
I am in no way saying I wish one of our Braves would die in a horrific accident like the Angels had to go through this season. What I meant is that if something like that happened then Bobby would most likely say how our team just could not overcome all the setbacks like losing a team member.
I applaud Mike Scioscia for being able to lead his players in such a sad situation instead of throwing in the towel.
I never explain myself so you should be honored keylargo.
I’m watching the Mets’ broadcast and I will have to say that Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling are gushing the praise for Tommy Hanson. Hernandez especially is talking about how great his breaking stuff is.
I was trying to think of who Hanson reminds me of, in his delivery and demeanor. Closest I can come up with is Jack Morris.
Listening to the radio, you can hear in the press box PA guy give Misch’s line. Sounded a lot like Mike Stamus. Moose!
Sure, might as well bring in Gonzo in a 5-0 game. Can’t imagine why Bobby gets blasted and if you listen closely to Joe S. and even Chip Carey, they are starting to hint around as to Cox’s questionable bp moves.
Oh man, thats just unfair that Pope’s band gets to do that. We’d never get to do anything like that in my band (another cobb band), instead we had rehersal tonight. In the rain.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. If you think Frank Wren has the authority to fire Bobby Cox you are extremely misguided. Wren is the GM, but they didn’t hand him the keys to the castle. It isn’t Wren’s decision.
In most instances I would say that taking Hanson out after 7 innings with 90+ pitches is completely understandable but wouldn’t you have to say that Tommy is a bit of a special case. He’s not just any young pitcher.
I mean, if Kris Medlen was still starting and performing above expectations that would be one thing but for crying out loud, make an exception.
There’s just no reason to go to the bullpen… and Mike Gonzalez for God’s sake! You’re killing me.
Thank you for all your submission to our Home Depot know-how “you e-mail this to us, which means you were using a computer and could have looked this up yourself” question of the game.
i’m less disturbed by removing Hanson up 5-0 than I was up 1-0. But, that’s just me.
He has thrown 95, or so pitches, and it seems unlikely that he’d go 9, even if he went 8.
I always love the deals for “cash considerations.” It’s probably just a “hey, you give me this sucky player and I’ll buy you lunch at the winter meetings.” “Wait, you’ll take this guy off my hands and buy me lunch? Sold!”
richbrave, hardly ever. Nothing comes easy with The Cobra. He gets the job done most of the time, but not closer material, if you ask me. If a good set up/closer is hard to come by for Atlanta this offseason, I’d give the closer job to Moylan… he’s earned it.
“When the Braves weren’t able to get Norton, they opted to roll the dice on Scott Spiezio. Once Spiezio was unable to control his substance abuse problems, Wren continued his search, renewing his attention back on Norton after he became a roster casualty in Seattle last week.”
I see the Braves are playing some solid ball now that the season is a wash. If we had those 10 or more losses back that the jacka$$ Cox cost us, we’d be sitting pretty. On another note, if the front office trades Vazquez, that will be proof they have no intention of improving this team. If a pitcher has to go, it should be Lowe. He’s not worth the money.
Please do not remind us of what Hanson did in Houston last week…it may add a little more fuel on the Bobby Cox roasting goin’ on around here. Brilliant again this start…could easily have 13 + wins after tonight. Anyone missin’ Glavine about now?
He and J.J. are two studs that any team in Baseball would like to build a starting rotation around.
On another note, if the front office trades Vazquez, that will be proof they have no intention of improving this team. If a pitcher has to go, it should be Lowe. He’s not worth the money.
Don’t you thinks, considering years, contract length and performance this season, that the reason Vasquez might be ahead of Lowe in the trade department is the return?
