Nate McLouth has been “saving his arm” all season long to make that throw today!

It’s the only explanation for him not attempting throwing home for the past 2 months that he’s been a Brave.

Jake, let’s hope that’s the case. As for KK? I wasn’t sold on him early, but at 6.6 million next year, I think you have to keep him. He’ll give us what we’ll get out of Vazquez or D-Lowe (with in a half run ERA wise, imo), and going to cost half as much as Vazquez and less than half of Lowe.

So, he’s gotta stay, IMO. Of course, in terms of trade value, that salary makes him more tradable and might net us more in return. Where if somebody is going to take Lowe’s salary on, they might not give up as much. Just my guess.

WOW!! A strong throw and a catcher that blocks the plate AND hangs onto the ball?? Amazing.

Chop Chop, thanks for the clarification. That actually makes it a worse contract than I originally thought. :-)

“He’s 0-3 what kinda proof is that may I ask?”

He’s hit 2 balls that very well could have been homeruns. And both would have been sac flys, something Greg Norton has consistently failed to do in HUGE situations where we only needed one run. That’s the proof. Not to mention his 3-run homer earlier this year.

That is the funny to me.

Chipper Jones: “Oh he sucks. Worst season on his career, he’s done. Trade him. Waive him. Release him. Fire him.”

Martin Prado: “Oh he’s amazing! Marteeeeen! So scrappy. Breakout year. Amazing. Replace Chipper with him.”

“Prado is making 400,000 and Chipper is making 10-12 million? Obviously Chipper is a better player than Martin, but looking at offensive and defensive production this year and including salary…you have to laugh at Chipper’s numbers, they are just terrible in comparison. And Chipper has played the worst third base I have ever seen”

We are trying to improve our offense. How is putting Prado at third going to do that next year? The truth of the matter is that neither Chipper nor Prado should be seen as stars in our offense, they should be seen as supporting cast members especially at this stage in Chipper’s career. If we are trying to improve this offense its by addition and not rearranging at this point. We know where we need improvements.

And the discrepancy between Chipper and Prado’s defense at 3B is the reason Chipper should play 1B and Prado 3B next year

A) I don’t think Chipper’s defense this year has been representative of his defensive ability
B) 1B would be very hard on Chipper’s knees
C) The discrepancy between their offensive levels as I perceive them over a full season is bigger than the current value. I don’t think Prado is any more than a .775 OPS hitter over 600 PA, whereas Chipper is at least an .850 OPS hitter, with the ability to be a .900 OPS hitter. We need offense, and, like Jake said, rearranging our current offensive pieces will do nothing for us. We’ve gotta stick with our best offensive pieces and build around them. Chipper is a better piece than Prado, no question.

I disagree. Is one year of age enough to take Chipper from a +7.5 UZR/150 to a -15.8? I don’t think so. I think it’s due to the fact that he’s just having a really bad year. He’s made a lot of errors on easy balls that I don’t think are indicative of a decline in skill…they’re just that–errors. I think he’ll rebound nicely across the board next year. Besides, 3B isn’t as important of a defensive position compared to 2B or CF or RF/LF IMO.
