I don’t think I’ve seen a luckier 3 months in my baseball watching life than Prado’s 3 hot months.
Yay negative nolie’s here!
It’s early yet, DOB
Rob from SC
Be careful, there are a lot of Chipper lovers on this board. I am not one of them however

I have to agree with you hugh jazz he is a little girl he is just awful these days.
I’m watching the Cowboys at the Vikes.
Don’t like either of those teams, but at least I’m watching a bunch of guys giving it their all trying to make their respective teams before tomorrow’s final cut. Nobody throwin’ in the towel here.
Real sports in it’s most primal form! Yea baby!
Here’s a positive…this game’s getting along in a hurry. Love games like that.
September 4th, 20098:21 pm
DOB – that Hugh guy @ 8:18? Really?
September 4th, 20098:22 pm
Love seeing an empty Turner Field. They deserve it. Well, not really but kind of. – Mitchell
Actually, it’s not a bad crowd. Don’t know what camera angle you saw, but it’s not nearly as small as I expected for game against the Reds on high school football night and eve of college football’s first Saturday. I’m gonna guess close to 30,000 in seats, maybe even a little more.
Or about 10 times what there were for each game in Florida, in terms of bodies in the ballpark, not tickets distributed.
Mike Lowell or Troy Glaus
AROD too many games as SS
hopefully the braves can take the lead and pull away here soon…gonna go catch district 9 tonight…hope it is as good as everyone says
September 4th, 20098:23 pm
I like negative nolie

I’ve never seen so many bored faces in my life from that crowd shot at Turner.
September 4th, 20098:24 pm
Im tired of watching Chipper Jones hitting a groundball to second everytime he swings at a down and away pitch… Chipper sux (lately and almost this entire season), it would be better for him to retire after this season even if that means the Braves would have not a lot of options for his replacement…
Definitely Adrian Beltre.
Brian has the worst arm among all MLB catchers.
2010 where are you?
A mediocre throw gets him not a good one. He must have gotten a bad jump.
September 4th, 20098:25 pm
Rob – glad to see you are proud of hating the most consistent Braves player of the decade…
September 4th, 20098:26 pm
Hugh Jazz = Heap Hater = Paul Lentz
Some of you people are insane…Chipper should retire? He’s still been well above average this year offensively and has been the Braves’ second best hitter this year, behind Diaz.
Lowe has pretty good movement tonight.
September 4th, 20098:27 pm
We should lose the rest of the games on purpose and play for a higher draft pick, lol.
glord1, what are you talking about? Lowe is getting hammered. He’s got a 2.25 ERA tonight. The game is over.
September 4th, 20098:28 pm
Second best hitter? So… where do we put Escobar then…???
Easy 1-2-3 inning here.
I stand corrected DOB. It’s hard to tell, I’m watching on my computer again so I can blog, which I promised myself I wouldn’t do after last night.
I’m an addict man. I can’t help it. But hey, I wouldn’t want to deprive you all of whatever it is that I would be depriving you of if I wasn’t on here.
Mixxo- dont the vikings have a website? I know the yankees do.
Jalb3rt – are you being held captive by braves fans who wont change the channel?
Rob – you dont like chipper? Youre kidding!? Wow i am completely shocked. Next you’ll tell me the pope is catholic.
September 4th, 20098:29 pm
Sounds like a couple of you would love to hear — or have convinced yourselves already — that the fans in the ballpark are as unhappy watching the game as you are. Hate to disappoint, but I can assure you that’s not the case. For better or worse, just not the case. it’s a gorgeous night and these folks appear to be having a great time. I mean, if you’ve been to a game here, you know they do a pretty good job of keeping everyone occupied start to finish with all the stuff on the video board, the between-innings entertainment, the music, etc. I’m continually amazed at how much these people seem to be into all that stuff. They get into it, especially on a nice night with no school or work for most of them tomorrow. They’re throwing back brews and hanging out. There are a lot worse ways to spend an evening.
Yeah, I agree with Hugh Jazz. McCann has a poor arm, but he is also immobile behind homeplate. Many times he just looks lazy behind the plate. To me he is the worst receiver in the league.
In OPS+: Diaz 138, Chipper 125, McCann 122, Escobar 118, Prado 111. LaRoche has a 175, but without a lot of at-bats.
September 4th, 20098:30 pm
I don’t even know who Adrian Beltre is. Sounds familiar. Have no idea who he plays for.
Bronson throws like the sister in twilight. I cant remember her name but its true.
I\’m embarrassed to be a Braves fan and you all should be too.
September 4th, 20098:31 pm
Boog gets so upset when he doesn’t get the trivia question. I think he needs therapy.
This team has no balls.
It is a beautiful night. I wish I had gone. Maybe tomorrow.
If that was Greg Norton, the official scorer would have scored that a hit, instead of giving Votto an error.
September 4th, 20098:32 pm
Anyone else hate when the announcers spend the whole inning trying to guess the trivia question? Let the fans do it. Give the question and get back to the game.
that had to hurt Arroyo, we are the only team that gets called on
Escobar hit Arroyo, so he pegged him back. Vigilante baseball.
BS call that has gone against us all season and our best hitter is hurt.
September 4th, 20098:33 pm
I think we just got screwed on that one.
Bobby is gonna get tossed.
Theyre having a braves-esque inning. Oh wait. We got jealous and wanted to share it with them.
There you go.
September 4th, 20098:34 pm
Cox gets standing O coming off field after another ejection.
They need to put a bag in foul territory
He was in fair territory.
September 4th, 20098:35 pm
Escobar got hit in the head just before hitting the bag and hyperextended his knee it looks like.
Ump got the call right. Never liked the rule, but you have to make the call if it’s the rule.
September 4th, 20098:36 pm
ok who does lowe bean? I couldnt tell you the reds best hitter.
Yeah, it looked like he hit the bag funny.
That ruling changed the complexion of the inning. It needs to be addressed in the off season.
I knew McCaan would hit a fly ball to lead off the 4th because we cant a sac fly
Hmmm, no. I just promised myself to not take the Braves seriously anymore, being a frustrated Braves fan is ridiculous. As long as Cox is the manager this team is going nowhere. I decided i will just have fun watching them lose games and being mediocre every single night, just like their manager showed’em to be. Im one of those fans who’s waiting for 2010 and meanwhile, having fun watching this circus of idiots trying to ”play” baseball and ‘’stay” in ”contention”.
September 4th, 20098:37 pm
DOB – do you guys in the press box ever play along in the Tool Race?
McLouth’s in game in center field, Infante to short, Diaz to left field, Church to right
It is dumb. If you follow the rule you cant touch the base. What got Esco in trouble was being in fair territory all the way down the line. Still dumb rule and very unlucky.
DOB wins the Tool Race every night. Heyoooo!!!
Just kidding DOB…
September 4th, 20098:38 pm
We are having a Dykes on Bikes Marathon this weekend and all are welcome. We are starting at 10:00am tomorrow and the proceeds are for the Gay Mens and Womans Coalition.
Paul Lentz needs to be addressed in the offseason.
This game has been a load of cr–– so far…
Esco is done for the season.
Esco out another week probably. Not good.
I’m pretty sure I recall a couple of games this year where we pegged a player in the back that was running in fair territory and that call wasn’t made. Umps are horribly inconsistent with that call.
September 4th, 20098:39 pm
Roman Gal, is SportSouth going to have someone in the booth to promote the event next inning?
You have many things to be embarrassed about, Hugh.
Sounds like a couple of you would love to hear that the fans in the ballpark are as unhappy watching the game as you are… I’m continually amazed at how much these people seem to be into all that stuff, especially on a nice night with no school or work for most of them tomorrow
Who’s the jaded one now DOB?
September 4th, 20098:40 pm
speaking of the Cowboys-Vikings game – seems to me that the Vikings have several aggressive cornerbacks fighting for just a few roster spots – maybe the Falcons can pick one up after the cuts to help out that often burnt group they have now.
TM To me he is the worst receiver in the league.
Right. To you, and nobody else but you. Try saying that to some of our pitchers, duuuude!
Well I didn’t mean dress in the tool suits and run around. I meant like we do with our friends.
“I pick hammer!”
September 4th, 20098:41 pm
It’s probably either Votto or Phillips. That reminds me, didn’t Hanson plunk someone yesterday? If so, was it retaliation?
Didn’t we have that very same call not get called against the team we were playing earlier this year and cost us the game?
“that had to hurt Arroyo, we are the only team that gets called on”
Thats the only problem I have with it. It seems to be to the umpires discretion because I can think of two times this year we didn’t get the call but it is what it is. But the ball didn’t get there till Escobar was reaching to touch the bag and according to the rule I thought you could be in fair territory when going for the bag. I don’t know, its such a stupid rule.
sTooPid bURro bOOby sWitchEd thE whOle Team on tHe fIeld? What A Bozo . Now wE R gOnna Loose For shUr!! Fire bOOby !!!

Gotta be Corky
September 4th, 20098:42 pm
Speaking of which, I went to a Gwinnett Braves game earlier this year, and they had an eye race. A good idea because it’s something everyone can easily pick a side.
Except the PA guy obviously didn’t know that “brown eye” has a different meaning. “Brown eye takes the lead, brown eye goes around the stretch, AND BROWN EYE IS YOUR WINNER!”
With Bobby thrown out of the game, I bet Norton’s sitting in the cornor sweating it out that he might not get to hit!
Hammer always wins and saw always takes out the drill. Sorry to spoil it for everyone.
September 4th, 20098:43 pm
I’m gonna start my streching execises, need to loosen up. People are depending on me tonight.
Send in Mahoney!
so the important question is – if Bobby gets ejected – can someone else PH instead of Norton ?
Kelly Johnson Fan Club
The Braves would be winning this game if Kelly Johnson were in the line-up.
Roman Gal @ 8:38:
Cool name! Did you think of that all by yourself?
September 4th, 20098:44 pm
Sorry McFann Ô, I was venting some steam, he’s alright behind the plate, but there are better catchers in the league.
Have it your way, Mr. Cox.
September 4th, 20098:45 pm
Kelly Johnson for President!
I’m gonna start my streching execises, need to loosen up. People are depending on me tonight.
Yeah, the Reds
September 4th, 20098:46 pm
jeffi’s d………….addressing your lack of intelligence is impossible.
Kelly Johnson’s too young to be president. I’d vote for Senator Kelly, though.
September 4th, 20098:47 pm
You’re like a Cy Young poster with all those great (and so accurate) things you say. This team is done, is a joke, the manager has no clue, the players have no heart, no offense, the pitching keeps getting 0 support most of the time, and that must have them tired by now. Say hello to 2010 (a la Tony Montana).
MattE!!! (sorry – I know I should be hateful)
But they want us to hit corky.
Was that a caveman swing or what? Lol
September 4th, 20098:48 pm
The Escobar injury doesn’t look good at all. It looked like his knee locked up when he lunged for the bag and at the very least hyper extended it badly. Let’s hope he can get back in there in a few days.
Meanwhile, as predicted…Derek Lowe has to win this game himself, what does he do…gets a single to start the inning but then goes and gets himself thrown out!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
