Actually, it’s not a bad crowd. Don’t know what camera angle you saw, but it’s not nearly as small as I expected for game against the Reds on high school football night and eve of college football’s first Saturday. I’m gonna guess close to 30,000 in seats, maybe even a little more.
Or about 10 times what there were for each game in Florida, in terms of bodies in the ballpark, not tickets distributed.
Im tired of watching Chipper Jones hitting a groundball to second everytime he swings at a down and away pitch… Chipper sux (lately and almost this entire season), it would be better for him to retire after this season even if that means the Braves would have not a lot of options for his replacement…
Some of you people are insane…Chipper should retire? He’s still been well above average this year offensively and has been the Braves’ second best hitter this year, behind Diaz.
I stand corrected DOB. It’s hard to tell, I’m watching on my computer again so I can blog, which I promised myself I wouldn’t do after last night.
I’m an addict man. I can’t help it. But hey, I wouldn’t want to deprive you all of whatever it is that I would be depriving you of if I wasn’t on here.
Sounds like a couple of you would love to hear — or have convinced yourselves already — that the fans in the ballpark are as unhappy watching the game as you are. Hate to disappoint, but I can assure you that’s not the case. For better or worse, just not the case. it’s a gorgeous night and these folks appear to be having a great time. I mean, if you’ve been to a game here, you know they do a pretty good job of keeping everyone occupied start to finish with all the stuff on the video board, the between-innings entertainment, the music, etc. I’m continually amazed at how much these people seem to be into all that stuff. They get into it, especially on a nice night with no school or work for most of them tomorrow. They’re throwing back brews and hanging out. There are a lot worse ways to spend an evening.
Yeah, I agree with Hugh Jazz. McCann has a poor arm, but he is also immobile behind homeplate. Many times he just looks lazy behind the plate. To me he is the worst receiver in the league.
Anyone else hate when the announcers spend the whole inning trying to guess the trivia question? Let the fans do it. Give the question and get back to the game.
Hmmm, no. I just promised myself to not take the Braves seriously anymore, being a frustrated Braves fan is ridiculous. As long as Cox is the manager this team is going nowhere. I decided i will just have fun watching them lose games and being mediocre every single night, just like their manager showed’em to be. Im one of those fans who’s waiting for 2010 and meanwhile, having fun watching this circus of idiots trying to ”play” baseball and ‘’stay” in ”contention”.
It is dumb. If you follow the rule you cant touch the base. What got Esco in trouble was being in fair territory all the way down the line. Still dumb rule and very unlucky.
We are having a Dykes on Bikes Marathon this weekend and all are welcome. We are starting at 10:00am tomorrow and the proceeds are for the Gay Mens and Womans Coalition.
I’m pretty sure I recall a couple of games this year where we pegged a player in the back that was running in fair territory and that call wasn’t made. Umps are horribly inconsistent with that call.
Sounds like a couple of you would love to hear that the fans in the ballpark are as unhappy watching the game as you are… I’m continually amazed at how much these people seem to be into all that stuff, especially on a nice night with no school or work for most of them tomorrow
speaking of the Cowboys-Vikings game – seems to me that the Vikings have several aggressive cornerbacks fighting for just a few roster spots – maybe the Falcons can pick one up after the cuts to help out that often burnt group they have now.
“that had to hurt Arroyo, we are the only team that gets called on”
Thats the only problem I have with it. It seems to be to the umpires discretion because I can think of two times this year we didn’t get the call but it is what it is. But the ball didn’t get there till Escobar was reaching to touch the bag and according to the rule I thought you could be in fair territory when going for the bag. I don’t know, its such a stupid rule.
Speaking of which, I went to a Gwinnett Braves game earlier this year, and they had an eye race. A good idea because it’s something everyone can easily pick a side.
Except the PA guy obviously didn’t know that “brown eye” has a different meaning. “Brown eye takes the lead, brown eye goes around the stretch, AND BROWN EYE IS YOUR WINNER!”
You’re like a Cy Young poster with all those great (and so accurate) things you say.
