From SI.COM tonight – “White Sox GM Kenny Williams called teams this afternoon to let them know a large part of their roster is available in trade, including sluggers Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko and Jim Thome and veteran relievers Scott Linebrink and Octavio Dotel.” Not sure the Braves would do something like this, and I think the deadline is today for any players on the postseason roster, but it’s interesting……

Why do you do this to us Kawakami? why??? if you would pitch like this every time the braves might have an actual conflict wwith who to play.

New plan of action: Have Tim Hudson pitch as the #5 guy. Every time the braves play against a top pitcher tell Kawakami to get ready. he can pitch greatly against all of the top guys and maybe does well on short notice after watching tonight.

Jim- The only White Sox vet that would be of any use to the Braves is Konerko. And thats not for this year. That would be incase Laroche doesn’t stick around. Dye has been horrible over the past month, and there wouldn’t be room as soon Church and McLouth become healthy

Norton is now 5 for 52 against RH pitching. That is .096 folks. It gets better he is slugging .115 with one double in 52 abs.

Wow just wow that BC keeps rolling him out there in big spots as his PH of choice. It is obvious that he would rather prove that he is right than to win games.

Kawakami getting it going and he has not been bad all season, just had the odd poor inning, but often little run support, which makes the win/loss numbers look bad.

If Hudson gets back anywhere near it makes Vazquez our main trade piece for a bat in the off season, don’t want to see him go, but he will be at the top of his value and could generate a really good return.

Hopefully the Braves avoid their crushing loss in South Florida this series. It seems like there is always one in a series down there & has been one nearly every series for the past 3-4 years.

With the Yankees probably winning it all again…SALARY CAP discussions have to come up, as last year they missed the playoffs..and now have an entire pitching staff plus Teixeira because of money..Lets all form websites, tell our papers and teams baseball needs a SALARY CAP. now.

TO WHICH Bravesfan54 replied:

Roman Gal at 7:11 – you are so right about the salary cap! The last time the owners tried to impose one, baseball lost a season. This is the “54/40 or fight”, “give me liberty or give me death” of the union.
My question to you is this: should the owners hang tough knowing that the union will absolutely not cave in, and a strike would last more than one season only to have the president (which ever a Republican president would eventually do, too) appoint first, a baseball czar (we seem to like “czar” don’t we, has an imperial ring to, even if they don’t win drug wars, ecomomic wars, trade wars…but, I digressed) then, when the baseball czar fails (as they all do, being creatures of the executive, with no budget, no power), the president appoints a mediator, and the rabble finding rope for the few, turn the tide against ownership.

Now, I understand, as a southern boy does, that I poked a stick into the hornets nest. So Carroll needs to impose MARTIAL BLOG LAW (a la’ Cesar Chavez) and FORBID discussion of this issue.

Hey, I really and truly am a 63 year old man who followed this team since a year after they moved to Milwaukee. I swear I could ace a test on the 50/60’s teams and pass one on the 70’s, before I lost a decade to decadence.

Just bloggin’, mind you!

BUT THEN: Roman Gal answered my post:

Roman Gal at 7:11 – My question to you is this… Bravesfan54
Was that you? I didn’t write that. As for a “baseball czar”…no. Czar’s make me think of Russia and Russia creeps me out.

If Hudson is fit and back to anything near then a 6 man rotation during September seems possible, especially bearing in mind we have JJJ and Hanson who are pitching more than they have in the past and KK who has some soreness issues (he pitched in a 6 man rotation in Japan), Hudson might also appreciate the extra day to recover during his comeback.

The usual complaint about a 6 man rotation is that your aces lose starts (besides losing a bench player which is not an issue in September), but in this line up we have six guys who are very good, without an obvious ace and so it might make a lot of sense in those circumstances.
