How dare you hit our Matty D. MFIKY will take your face off for that.
jeffrey d And by “we all” I mean me and someone else.
I had to chuckle at the mention of Charlie Liebrandt. “AND WE’LL SEE YOU TOMORROW NIGHT!!!”
…Sorry, my true loyalties just showed But I’ll still cheer for the Braves for as long as they have Kenshin.

Way to get the bunt down Marteeeen!
RHR…I assure you I am no romance novelist reader, although if that’s what you or anyone else likes, it is okay with me.
To be honest with you, I googled that quote minutes before I wrote it, and 4 out of 5 sites attributed it to Einstein…although there is obviously some debate as to who said it.
Whatever the case may be, Cox is an idiot at the least. Greg Norton? C’mon!
Braves Fan in N.Y.
Good post Jackets 77.
One of the AJC scribes should ask Cox about Norton.
He does have an affection for journeymen with marginal talent (Keith Lockhart comes to mind) but at least Lockhart’s SP was over the Mendoza Line.
The braves are winning this game, and I’m still pissed about seeing Norton up there batting earlier…damn..haven’t had something piss me off this badly in a looong time…
Diaz’s left side must be polka dotted with baseball bruises. How many times is that in the last week or so? 3 I can remember.
Marlins fans really need to work on their taunting skills. They’re lacking.
August 31st, 20099:16 pm
I Agree completely
Moylan’s getting tired, in his last few outings he hasn’t exactly been lights out. Jeremy Hermida maybe a non tender candidate, he is a good player, plays good defense, is still young, has a good arm has a high OBP, and has 20 homer potential. Maybe he could replace Garret Anderson next year and play right field and have Diaz be the every day Left fielder.
And get a power hitting first baseman from the right side.
August 31st, 20099:17 pm
And while I am on the subject…no wonder so many MLB players voted Cox as a manager they would like to play for. Heck, I wish he was my boss too! Fail, fail, fail, and what does his boss do? Rewards him with opportunity after opportunity. Must be nice to work in an envirnoment where being the weakest link means essentially nothing.
wow unreal go escobar and chipper. ross helped out.. and THEN OF COURSE our piece of a joke greg norton strikes out again. why the freak is cox obsessed with him.. norton needs to get losty
NO MORE BOBBY
I love the fan that just yelled YOU WALKED A 40 YEAR OLD TO GET TO A 46 YEAR OLD.
I don’t believe Boobis eligible for the Presidency. One has to be a US resident, which would imply you have to be a resident of Earth. With his basic decision process one would have to think he is a native of some out of space alien nation.
Imagine Boobie as Presidnet and Ricky Escobar on the Supreme Court.
Loaf could do double duty. Secretary of Defense and Secretary of Energy.
Mike Hampton Health and Human Services
Should I go on!!!!
August 31st, 20099:18 pm
HaHa Somebody don’t believe Chipper is done
Gov Clinton Tyree
Well, at least those who fixate on the problems are worried about Norton, the last guy on the bench.
The quality of our problems has improved.
Hugh Jazz, with your “Johnson will no hit the Braves” shows how ignorant you really are. Make it obvious next time, will you?
August 31st, 20099:19 pm
Blackbird, “I don’t know what you mean by URGENCY, and Jake, new draftees still need coaching. How many games can we win with a lineup laced with .150 hitters, getting 1 hit in 6 innings. Tonight MAY turn out to be the exception!”
Its easier to coach and manage good talent than someone who doesn’t have it. Willie Harris, great guy but you’re not going to coach him up to be a Hanley Ramirez or a Miguel Cabrera. Give the people getting this talent some credit. I’m not saying coaching doesn’t play a part, just saying it starts with first finding talented players.
This will be a good win over a good starting pitcher.
3 games back? Wow.
August 31st, 20099:20 pm
Norton is a shining example of Bobby’s newfound mega-idiocy…
Interestingly enough, I remember reading on here recently where DOB was trying to find a way to ask Cox a question. What is that all about? Is he royal or something? His job is to manage the team, and he should have to give an account to the stock holders (ticket buyers) for how he choses to do so. Cox would never make it in most cities. Can you see him at a press conference in New York? Or Philadelphia?
Gov….you obviously havent been watching the Braves lately…Norton is NOT the last guy on the bench….he’s been the FIRST GUY OFF THE BENCH in any pinch hitting situation….
Speaking of urgency, where’s Paul tonight? Scoring those easy San Francisco chicks, playing poker or did his mom’s internet go out?
August 31st, 20099:21 pm
Loaf has been studying Norton
August 31st, 20099:22 pm
LaRoche was happy to see Johnson gone
If they asked Cox, he would say he’s trying to get Norton going. Its just like KJ and Frenchy and everyone else Cox gave more than enough opportunities to succeed. Only this time, its a pinch hitter, so this stretches out over a season. Maybe they don’t ask him because they already know the answer.
Not saying I like it, or agree with it, but thats probably what he’d say.
We’re rollin now!
Roachy! Great hustle MattE too.
Yeah, jackets, and he sucks. But we’re seven deep in the rotation, playing .640 ball since they inserted Prado and jettisoned Francoeur and we’re about to beat Josh Johnson, which is like cutting a diamond with your teeth.
Every time i see Norton go swinging i remember the lines from the movie My Cousin Vinny. “There goes the quintessential Norton”
RC….wow…u read my mind…my next comment was going to be that Cox could never pull this Norton shit in a bigger media market….or in any media market where the manager is held accountable by the media for his foolish ridiculous decisions…..and I don’t remeber reading DOB say that…maybe its on e of his columns I missed…i don’t miss many braves columns..

Speaking of urgency, where’s Paul tonight? Scoring those easy San Francisco chicks…dude looks like a lady. There T fixed it.
I REALLY like Diaz at leadoff. He hits everything and since he’s lost the weight he’s actually fast.
Rob from SC
Great job Yuni, where was LaRoche going there
August 31st, 20099:24 pm
Good hit Esco. Geez, out by a mile. It’s all good, I guess.
Thanks, Chong. You’re a pal.
I’ve heard insanity described as one repeating the same failed behavior, over-and-over, and continuing to repeat that behavior expecting a different result.
Good game. Let’s close this out and do it again tomorrow.
Oh well…fun inning, though! Nice to get some insurance.
Jake, I don’t really disagree with you. Some of what I said goes back to when we had great talent and won 1 WS, FL had mediocre talent (at least according to the paychecks) and did as good or better. And would you say FL has better talent than us this year? TP and Cox need to share their retirement party, and I’m only sending one gift they’ll have to share.
LaRoche getting greedy. Oh well. Lets wrap this up, bullpen.
Firearm, that was a terrible moment for the Braves nation. But, a memorable quote from Jack Buck!
To continue my point, the next year in the WS, it was Liebrandt pitching to Dave Winfield in the same situation. Except, Sean McDonough didn’t say ’see you tomorrow night.’ There was no tomorrow night. Toronto won the series in six.
And speaking of announcers tho were once pared with Buck and McDonough, anyone else agree that Tim McCarver should join Greg Norton on that island that nobody has ever seen or heard of???
August 31st, 20099:25 pm
Cmon Gonzo, dust ‘em.
August 31st, 20099:26 pm
My guy, Gonzy!
August 31st, 20099:28 pm
Gov Clinton Tyree,
You’re welcome dude. props to your Mama.
I’ve lost the satellite. There must be severe weather in the area.
Nice inning by Gonzo.
Good job Gonzo!
Well that was quick.
Geez, Gonzo has been unbelievable
August 31st, 20099:29 pm
Gov Clinton Tyree. Bingo
Matt is looking better in right lately……and really looking good leading off.
August 31st, 20099:30 pm
KK’s getting a raw deal with this Huddy thing. He’s been too solid. Huddy should take Lowe’s spot or go to the pen..
What is a DUX Bed. Must be something yoiu Georgia people do. Is it filled with Kudzuuu of something?
August 31st, 20099:31 pm
so now it is all joy and fun in the dugout…
every time I see Chipper and Laroche together I think of Brokeback Mountain
Love the way they show the establishing shot of Biscayne Bay in Miami. That stadium, perhaps the worst in the league, is 12 miles inland on the banks of the dredged C-17 canal in the middle of a tired piece of festering, humid, reclaimed swamp.
August 31st, 2009
I’ve lost the satellite. There must be severe weather in the area.”"
Or the satellite reentered and burned to a crisp.
What is a DUX Bed? It is a bed filled with Aflac DUX.
I wish to he!! some of you would praise some of the 24 guys playing .600 ball instead of harping constantly about the 25th man on the team who bats about 2 times a week..
August 31st, 20099:32 pm
Diaz isn’t a Crawford that’ll steal a ton of bases, but damn, the guy hustles like nobody else and he can flat-out-hit. I’d like to see McLouth bat 7th and bat LaRoche 5th or 6th. I think that gives the team more RBI guys where they need to be.
Something like this… Diaz/Prado/CJ/Mac/Roachy/Yunel/McLouth/GA. You’d have Yunel to break up the lefties and McLouth is seems more like a run producer to me anyways. And NO WAY is CJ going anywhere in that lineup with Bobby still managing, forget it. Hitting 3rd is where he’s staying.
August 31st, 20099:33 pm
With KK pitching more innings than ever in his career and our young future ACE pitching his first year in the bigs ,i kinda like the 6 man rotation idea
August 31st, 20099:34 pm
is it norton for gonzo
Wow, ssoR almost beat out that DP…
nope kj gets the nod!
August 31st, 20099:35 pm
keylargo…seriously?? twice a week??? Norton gets more AB’s than ANYONE except the starters…and they’re in KEY pinch hit situations..
“How much longer do we have to continue watching the so-called PH specialist????????”
Interesting observation BravesFan1984.
May I ask a follow-up question? If Norton turly is a PH specialist – in which we’ve all heard him referred to – what if he had a real job as a specialist? After that at-bat he is now hitting a robust .136! Man, if my ENT ’specialist’ failed with 86.9% of his patients, bet he wouldn’t have a job for very long. Bobby seems to like doing plumbing commercials. Wonder if he uses a plummer that is batting .136?
Shamus, none of them deserves to lose their slot. They’ve all done the job.
Anybody else wonder about Kawakami as a closer (next year)? He’s awfully good first time through the order.
Joe is making excuses for KJ again. Johnson sucks and thats that!!
August 31st, 20099:36 pm
Is the six-man a done deal?
August 31st, 20099:37 pm
Since Paul’s not here tonight, I’ll do the honors:
Hey, its about time for Bobby to replace Prado with KJ to “get him some at-bats”. Who wants to bet he puts Carlyle in to close to “get him some innings”?
And now I will repeat this same joke 328 more times before 10 oclock.
The only point i’m trying to make is that talent to me is not entirely tied to how much a player is making. Marlins have taken advantage of a lot of the young years of some really good players. Those also happen to be the cheapest most of the time. Josh Beckett was as good for them in winning a world series as he was for Boston. Boston paid more for him to do that. At the end of the day what was even was the talent, not the money spent. Talent helped him win, not the money each team payed for him. Thats the only point i’m making.
August 31st, 20099:38 pm
Our bench used to be good when it had Omar and Martin on it but that was when the team was bad.
Now the bench is bad because it has Norton and KJ on it but the team is somewhat not god awful… so at one point it was good so technically Joe is right.
I’m going to assume that’s what he meant.
Come on MFIKY! 1-2-3.
Paul Lentz pulled a DJ AM
Norton has 65 ab’s for the YEAR. I’ve heard you personally YellowJacket77, b!tch more times than that about Norton.
August 31st, 20099:39 pm
0′fer for Hanley. Wow.
August 31st, 20099:40 pm
man hanley batting 354 at the start of this and get the big 0!
Hat trick for Hanley.
lol @ brokeback braves Roach/Chipper
Norton is a pro
August 31st, 20099:41 pm
Glad to see the Braves are winning…we’re all in better moods I see.
norton is a pro….
One interesting note. The three bullpen amigos are still cranking in the GP department. After tonight Moylan 1st in GP, Gonzo tied for third and OFlarety tied for fourth. Gonzo and Eric need to pick up the pace if they are going to go 1-3 with Moylan this years MLB bullpen ironman contest
Mitchell, we still have a good bench. We’ve got two starters out.
August 31st, 20099:42 pm
except for seeing Norton and KJ pinch hit, I have loved how this game played out: great starting pitching by kawakami, great relief and solid clutch hitting after the 6th
Settle down Rafael. Time to get serious.
Aint over yet folks (just got home from work)
soriano in a non-saver? uh oh lol
Loaf would’ve leaped and caught that.
I don’t like Soriano in this ballpark. I’m still recovering from last time.
August 31st, 20099:43 pm
Eww. Bear down, MFIKY.
M Diaz .400
H Ramirez .395
The security guard ran out on the field to protect the Marlins from MFIKY, Joe.
Loaf on blackberry getting massage on back and shoulder because of tough hit to wall after professional catch in the bottom of the 7th
These walls ain’t very padded here in Land Shark Stadium. Damn.
Norton is now batting at the “Norton Line.” There’s no other frame of reference for such futility. Mendoza was Rod Carew compared to Ed Norton.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
