Is it really though? I would give those drafting most of the credit. Their scouts are getting them some real good talent. Doesn’t matter the price, if you got good talent you will usually find yourself winning.

I would say that in spite of how badly he lost it in the 6th inning of his last start, Kawakami is still a pretty damn good pitcher.
But you know what? It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if Huddy comes back and is the second coming of Christy Mathewson (he was a pitcher, right?). These guys can’t hit.
They may hit a couple of homeruns here and there and they may even beat a guy like Cliff Lee every once in a while but if you can’t put together a winning streak together with Lowe, Jurrjens, Vasquez, Hanson and Kawakami or just win consistently… you suck.

This goes back to an earlier post I had. Braves had their number 5 on the mound and the marlins their ace who was dealing. They scored 1 run for him. They are the ones who should have been mad that they didn’t score more for their ace. If you are the marlins this is a game you have to win, if you are the braves this is a game you could steal. Great job by KK tonight. Once again the starting pitching getting it done. I mean imagine if we had a true number 5 guy. Don’t think we would have even been in this game at this point.

How many more times are we going to have to watch Norton hit again? I mean, dangit, does Norton have some compromising photos of Cox or something that he is threatening to release?
It is time for this man to go! Let’s face it, folks, Norton is a modern day Charlie Liebrandt…of Dan Kolb…or a HOST of other players that shouldn’t even have been in the major leagues that this idiot keeps turning to TIME AFTER TIME AFTER TIME when the game is on the line.
Oh, and is it just me, but hasn’t Cox usually already signed his extension by this time every year? Maybe Frank Wren is going to show him the door too. We can only hope!

With “Ice Cold”s” surgery on his wrist, and no winter ball, I think we can assume he’s off the radar for ‘10 – which means that Church might be signed. McLouth already under contract. GA will likley go someplace else – AL as a DH. So, B’s will be shopping for a GA-replacement since JH will likely not be called up until mid-season. In this regard, they might consider someone who can actually run.
Infante needs to be offered at least a 3-year deal. He’s earned it.

Thats the point i’m trying to make. He’s been a number 5 most of the year on this team not because he is bad but because our rotation is just that deep. Yet people still complain about the guy. Got to be the best number 5 pitcher in the league, better than a lot of teams 3 and 4 pitchers.
