I blogged some last year, but under different monikers, so I had my cup of coffee, then.
This is my 1st season under a more permanent moniker. So, I think I should have some creative props here.
Dang, I sound a little like, Lentz, there…
Just joking…I’m not that conceited!

I believe I’m correct in this, but outside of the opener of the two-game series vs. the Nats earlier this month (or August) the Braves just won a series opener for the first time since July 24 against Milwaukee (yes, I was covering that series too. Hm. My last road trip.) Otherwise the Braves had lost the openers of nine series of three or four games. That’s one of the reasons Chipper was feeling so Chipper afterward:
“This is a big boost especially against their ace,” Jones said. “It’s a huge win. Probably the biggest win of the year. Especially sitting back and watching how the first six innings went. To come back, get off the mat, put enough runs on the board to win and then some off of that guy is a tremendous boost for us. Now we’ve got to carry it through the last three games.”
You’ve had Madre Padre, Darlin Marlin, Anders, Lou Valdes, Nationals Capitals, and some Phillies fans. I’ll go with Anders for tomorrow. There was a guy that went as Metropolitans that was on here for just a couple of nights. He was fantastic and I wish he stayed. He gave great insight to baseball and a lot of us here on the blog about why we shouldn’t be whining about different stuff. I wish I could remember when and go back for some quotes.

Awards Show -
If it pleases a few on here… I can give up my spot for Comeback Blogger of the Year. I got on here, with this handle, about 4 years or so ago…did well…disappeared until this baseball season and cameback real strong. Of course, if you want to put me on the 40-man roster tomorrow AND give me the Comeback Player of the Year award… I won’t complain!
if the braves could just get average to above average production from the 3 and 4 hole down the stretch they defintely will have a punchers chance.
August 31st, 200911:16 pm
Im the best blogger on this sorry A$$ blog only a braves fans would give out awards before the seasons finished. That be like given an oscar to a movie before its finished, thats WaCk.
All rise the honorable Willieg is leaving the chat room.
Carroll: Nope, not RHR. If you do use your secret methods, just don’t make it public.
August 31st, 200911:17 pm
WILLIEG! YOU THE MAN!
I would have expected a few more players to be called up. I like the players that were called up, but i would like to see burke, and at the very least one more outfeilder. We have 4 outfeilders that are active and church doesn’t play much anymore, hes always hurt these last couple weeks, i know infante can play out there but one more outfeilder would not hurt it would be a little smarter.
I always enjoyed Kenny Powers post!
August 31st, 200911:18 pm
Last but not least….KK.
Kawakami, on the last-minute adjustment to the rotation:
“I’d like to know when I’m pitching a little earlier, but the results were good,” Kawakami said through his interpreter. “We can’t really lose right now and I knew that. In those terms, it was easier to pitch.”
He also brought up the three-run homer Johnson got off him, which I think gave KK a little added motivation tonight:
“Last outing I faced him also and I gave up a home run off him,” Kawakami said. “I really wanted to win tonight against him.”
And Chipper on Kawakami’s prowess against the aces:
“He’s done it time and time again when we’re needed it,” Jones said. “When we’ve been up against a high profile pitcher, he’s done a great job for us, kept us in the game. That’s all you can really ask for. You just hope you start seeing it on a more consistent basis against some of the lesser guys on lesser teams, but he’s certainly given us some huge starts this year, none bigger than tonight.”
Is there anyword on if the Braves will pursue Cameron from the Brewers? He would be great in CF for us and also give us a RH bat to place between Chip and Mac. If McLouth returns we can just put Cameron in RF.
Also any possibility of us getting any of the White Sox Vets that they deemed available? Dotel or Dye?
August 31st, 200911:19 pm
I’m not even gonna use my secret backway methods…and go out on a limb and say RHR authored the awards?! Love it.
Lord no, LOL. Please, please use your secret backway methods – it wasn’t me this time!
I gave my list afterwards, don’t want to say who of the original list I wouldn’t award but I added the ones that should’ve been on there before me. Wayne, Gil, Thrillhouse, DAP, I mean, I missed a lot that I was reminded of when other people started naming names.
August 31st, 200911:20 pm
No batter in the history of organized baseball has had a worse ninth-inning agerage than Ed Norton. That’s a cold, hard, fact. The only reason his average ain’t even lower is because baseball doesn’t delve into negative numbers. He’s batting a ninth-inning negative 1.000, BTW…
August 31st, 200911:21 pm
Ah, intrigue, Awards Show, and my apologies RHR. Ok, when I figure it out, I’ll never tell…..depending on what you give me? Ah, guess I shouldn’t bribe the bloggers. Not good blog etiquette.
Wayne has been good this year, Just more of a reason for me to expand it. I haven’t seen enough of Thrillhouse, or Gil lately.
I believe I’m correct in this, but outside of the opener of the two-game series vs. the Nats earlier this month (or August) the Braves just won a series opener for the first time since July 24 against Milwaukee
You are correct. Joe and Boog mentioned that on the broadcast.
(yes, I was covering that series too. Hm. My last road trip.)
You know what that means….
(Hit it, Homer)
The Bird and Indian
August 31st, 200911:23 pm
Great game tonight! Interesting awards show?
August 31st, 200911:24 pm
My personel feeling is the braves feel obligated to Garrett Anderson. They have already had a bitter break up with 2 hall of famers dont think they want to make it 3. Thats why I think Frank and the boys wont make any OF moves. Thats just like my opinion man.
Nite Carroll, and as always, thanks for the quotes!
August 31st, 200911:26 pm
Well I thought it was RHR
What I miss? I see the Braves won… Is Soph here?
August 31st, 200911:27 pm
Hey Homer just chimed in as “Most Annoying Blogger”
The A Bomb
August 31st, 200911:28 pm
“Johnson is one of the top guys in baseball,” Cox said. “You have to put him in the top five anyway, for me, in all of baseball. He’s that good.”
Good to know Norton has company.
I miss Soph…
Yunel's Frosted Tips
Why wouldn’t the f*cking idiots call up Brandon Jones at least for defensive substitutions in the outfield with all the injuries we have?. Cheap bast*rds
Y’all really think I would do that? I mean, did you SEE some of those names?
August 31st, 200911:29 pm
a643dp: It’s different with Loaf. He won’t be wearing a Braves cap so that shouldn’t be any factor in determining moves in the outfield.
Speaking of annoying bloggers, I wonder whatever happened to Marietta Derek? The Double Pits to Chesty dude?
RHR – a little. Plus you were gone for awhile.
JJ – haven’t seen Soph, but you won an award back on page 10…check it out.
August 31st, 200911:30 pm
Don’t know why the call ups. Blobby will keep them on the bench and play his love child Nerd-ton anyway!
August 31st, 200911:31 pm
Dang…now you are hatin’ on me too?
RHR: Hey I did my best. I’ll try to include some older names in the expanded roster tomorrow night but I did this off of the top of my head for no reason. I’ll think it out a bit and all. Again, I won’t include names that have only been seen once or twice this season. Someone else can make an ALL TIME AJC blog awards show.
August 31st, 200911:32 pm
jeffrey d: I don’t think he’s gonna like it.
They shouldnt feel obligated to him in anyway. If they dont wanna get rid of him just platoon him with Diaz so they both get some rest.
August 31st, 200911:33 pm
Well I still thought he should know.
So are we going to be getting physical award for this?
Diaz on phone on MLBN
Oh I’m not ripping the awards, they were great. Props to you for doing them and especially for giving me so many props lol. Heath? No? Mostly I meant PL!
August 31st, 200911:35 pm
I think Gregor Blanco should have been called up. Not for his bat but he has good speed, he is a very very good bunter, and also he can cover alot of ground in the outfeild. I think he could be very useful in later innings running the bases. Does anyone remember the Padre game last week when we went to extra innings and Laroche hit a single to right field and Anderson was at 2nd and was too slow to score, well folks if that was Blanco we win the game right there. By the way we went on to loose that game later in extras. All im saying is if we give Norton a roster spot i belive there are alot more players that could help out but blanco has speed, bunting, and better defense than Anderson that could play big in the later innings.
August 31st, 200911:37 pm
Plus RHR won like, 19 awards. I figured she had an inside scoop or something
August 31st, 200911:38 pm
How is Soph a top blogger and I’m not? As far as heading in the wrong direction, I agree, my life has been heading in the wrong direction lately but I didn’t know it showed here, I’m a mess…
jeffrey d, reigning Heading in the Right Direction winner
August 31st, 200911:39 pm
Don’t worry, JJ. I’ll take you under my wing
August 31st, 200911:40 pm
cabravesfan and Vinings Jim are two complete losers. F’ing tools.
VININGS JIM LIKES MEN!
jeffreyd: Maybe I’ll get y’all a link and you can print it out on the printer or something.
RHR: Well this year I think you’ve been top notch, to me at least. I usually get a few chuckles from your stuff and I believe you created the name calling of Loaf and MFIKY on here. Also the Loaf on blackberry thing. I’ll have to edit the PL awards but he does attempt to put the most insight on here even if it’s not great.
August 31st, 200911:41 pm
VININGS JIM SUCKS!
August 31st, 200911:42 pm
why did’nt I get an award
You know what, I agree. You have beaten me to the punch on a few jokes here… Like Chipper playing 3rd Left field, and its not my wits thats slow, its my computer…
That’d be nice, Awards Show. Just make it password protected so these non-award winners can’t print out faux certificates.
Jurrjens4NLCY: Don’t take it that hard buddy. At least you were one of the better ones but some insane trade proposals and ideas in the last week have sent you the wrong way. That doesn’t mean you can’t find your way back up.
Great big Herschel is back.
August 31st, 200911:43 pm
The Bird and Indian likes Lucky Pierre
How did fork not get an award?
August 31st, 200911:44 pm
bravebob: You get best grammar expert.
Don’t take it that hard buddy. At least you were one of the better ones but some insane trade proposals and ideas in the last week have sent you the wrong way. That doesn’t mean you can’t find your way back up
Find me one flaw in that trade… Grr!
Alright well here’s my first advice, kid: first, get off dial up. Next, it’s ALWAYS safe to slam Paul Lentz. In fact, you can never slam hard enough.
Third, you need a catch phrase. Something like “Slamalamadingdong” or “Well, that’s my mama!”
August 31st, 200911:45 pm
I didn’t know CAB was a man…
Seriously though, Bobby Cox is a clown.
August 31st, 200911:46 pm
wow , cool for my 2nd blog comment
August 31st, 200911:48 pm
You know what, scratch that…I like “That’s my mama.” I think I’ll make that my catch phrase.
August 31st, 200911:49 pm
Third, you need a catch phrase. Something like “Slamalamadingdong” or “Well, that’s my mama!”</i.
I have high speed wi fi internet, its just that mlb.tv makes everything run sloooow. Check on Lentz, and I end everyone of my blogs with Thats all for me folks, does that count? I don’t like to quote FamGuy, I wanna be original…
CAB isn’t a man. So what? Vinings Jim still likes men.
August 31st, 200911:51 pm
Paul Lentz sucks! Who is with me??
JJ – “That’s My Mama” isn’t from family guy. It’s from “That’s My Mama”
Where in the hell did you dig that up?
I didn’t even know there was a show called that…
bravebob: You’re just that good.
August 31st, 200911:53 pm
“Well, thats my mamma” is FamGuy, “Thats my mamma” isn’t
Jurrjens4NLCY – Paul Lentz sucks! Who is with me??
Starting on that comeback kid?
August 31st, 200911:54 pm
Someone needs to start saying Slamalamadingdong haha
August 31st, 200911:55 pm
Whats the general expectations for Huddy tomorrow?
Yep. Although I don’t need to. I’m a God on Bowman’s Blog…
Jurrjens – I’m with you! Vinings Jim also sucks!
August 31st, 200911:57 pm
5 – 6 innings. 2 – 3 runs… 1 Loss, unless the Braves decided to start hitting…
Yeah and Jojo Reyes was good in Gwinnett. This is the big leagues here.
August 31st, 200911:58 pm
Jurrjens4NLCY – Ya pick who’s shadow you want to be in, the one or the many and in this case Bowmans shadow is as big as the many lol.
August 31st, 200911:59 pm
Jesus, its not like I’m Paul Lentz (who sucks) or NO MORE BOBBY, I have friends, I’m well liked… I came up with “DOBFF”
September 1st, 200912:00 am
jeffrey d – Yeah and Jojo Reyes was good in Gwinnett. This is the big leagues here.
Its always cool though…
September 1st, 200912:01 am
Welp, I think I need to go to bed.
JJ – In the meantime, try to keep it dry and witty. I suggest watching some of the Naked Gun movies. And if you ever get in a jam, just think “What would Jeff D do?” When all else fails, slam Paul Lentz. Don’t worry, kid…you’ll be an All Star some day soon.
Brandon from Warner Robins
September 1st, 200912:03 am
Did i miss Bash Paul Lentz day on the ole blog?
September 1st, 200912:04 am
Brandon, – Nah, actualy it was kinda quiet on that front
Day? It’s been like, bash Paul Lentz season.
September 1st, 200912:05 am
*Thinking about jeffrey d:*
Uhh, I mean Paul Lentz sucks!
September 1st, 200912:06 am
Theres no wrong way to bash Paul Lentz.
I think Paul Lentz finally got the hint that he isn’t well-liked…
September 1st, 200912:16 am
Good night all!
September 1st, 200912:17 am
I’m going to head out. School in the morning. ;(
Just got home. Have to say I’m pleasently surprised at tonight’s outcome. Fish always play us tough, and I wasn’t expecting much with Johnson on the mound.
Well done boys. I had to laugh at the ESPN “poll” tonight on Sportscenter. It asked “Who will win the NL Wild Card?”
Like I said. Made me chuckle. Too many on here want all the recognition and predictions to go in our favor. Hogwash. Never let em’ see you coming, I say. Not saying we’re going to win (still don’t think we’ll pull it off – sweep the Marlins and we’ll start talking – otherwise, both the Braves and Marlins will have just treaded water), but this club reminds me of the the 91 Braves.
Right down to the very end, nobody seemed to factor them in. Including the Daryl Strawberry, Eric Davis and the Dodgers. Besides, we all saw how this team reacted last year when many pundits predicted they’d get to the WS (Gammons picked them to win it or was it somebody else?).
Somebody last night made a good suggestion. Focus on gaining one game per week. Nothing more. Just win series and good things should happen. Unfortunately, the pessimist in me thinks that won’t be the case. But for it to be September 1st and we’re 3 games out of the playoff race, and Hudson hasn’t pitched yet?
Pretty cool, depspite our weaknesses.
September 1st, 200912:19 am
Dodgers snag Garland & Thome.
Rockies snag Jose Contreras.
September 1st, 200912:21 am
Whire Sox upload … Dodger got Thome and Rockies got Contreras
September 1st, 200912:26 am
Just saw those trades on MLBTV….hopefully Contreras doesn’t help the Rockies too much.
September 1st, 200912:27 am
Chan Gailey got fired.
Sorry I’m so late. Actually had the opportunity to bash marlins’ ownership on the radio tonight and could not pass up the opportunity.
Want to congratulate you on the win tonight and as I said last night, this was only game the marlins could win in this series. Still will be hard for the bravos to catch the Rockies and giants when you look at their schedules.
I can pull for the Braves because I pull for the name on the back of the uniform before I can pull for the name on the front, and from observation the Braves are a nice group of people. can’t stand you know who, BUT he is only 1 of 25.
Good Luck Rest of the Season. The Marlins are out and i’m out. I’d be a 3rd wheel at this point.
September 1st, 200912:28 am
Blaine Boyer went to school with BC’s daughter and told her, he was going to play for her dad… Here is how that went.
Boyer: Hey. I hear you’re Bobby’s daughter.
BC’s D: Yeah.
Boyer: You know, I am going to play for him.
BS’s D: Sure. Whatever.
Boyer: Sometimes I tickle his belly and lick his ears
BC’s D: What??
Boyer: Yeah, well, I’m not talented so I decided to sleep with him.
BC’s D: That is gross.
Boyer: Your dad is a tender lover…
September 1st, 200912:29 am
HAHAHAHAHA! That’s hilarious!
September 1st, 200912:30 am
Dodgers got some help though. Garland and Thome.
September 1st, 200912:45 am
Who cares we will sweep the Dodgers in the first round of the playoffs……….
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
