Gov Clinton Tyree………Smoltz was a young pitcher back in 1991 with GREAT stuff. A lot of his problem back then was “mental”. He’d be cruising along for 4 or 5 innings, pitching lights out, and then have a BLOW-UP inning.
It got to the point where he had to go and see a shrink in order to get his head on straight. Smoltz’s problem wasnt lacking talent. It was mental. Whatever he did with that shrink, it helped turn his second half around.
Kelly Johnson has NO WHERE near the talent that Smoltz did.
Frenchy? Y’all know he’s gonna stink coming out of ST next year. Why the continued fascination? He’s on a trade high. It’ll wear off this winter. Specially after he buys a few more toys in NY; then he’d rather eat fricasseed horse sh_t than swing a bat…
My g/f is aggrevating as hell with her lack of knowledge…. Just as an example, she asks me all the time (seems that way anyway): “Are they playing at home?” I have explained it to her with looking at the jerseys, looking at who is listed first on the scoreboard…. drived me bonkers.
N8, don’t forget that Vazquez was traded for BEFORE the Braves signed Kawakami. To me, KAWAKAMI was the one we didn’t need. We should have spent his 3 year, $23 million contract on that bat we so sorely need.
Anyhow, I’m not really ranting. I just think it’s funny that people would rather gripe about the coverage and/or respect that the Braves get from ESPN or other media outlets. Cracks me up.
The people griping about it are either too young to remember the way ESPN gushed over the Braves for year (though Morgan has always questioned them winning only 1 WS under Bobby – who hasn’t?), or they are those kind of people who are too selfish and aren’t willing to accept that the Braves are no longer the “hot ticket” of MLB and that other cities have good players too.
I don’t particularily like that ESPN is all about the Yanks/Red Sox either. But I remember how much coverage the Braves got for a decade, so I “get it”.
N8,
Not only that but they just replayed the Furcal triple play and Miller almost had a coronary when he was calling it! Guess, for that one night at least, he was ok with the Braves. He didn’t hate them.
One question and then we will file that topic away for a slow November day…who is your team? (just out of curiosity are you a famale? OK that was 2 questions…)
“N8, don’t forget that Vazquez was traded for BEFORE the Braves signed Kawakami. To me, KAWAKAMI was the one we didn’t need. We should have spent his 3 year, $23 million contract on that bat we so sorely need.”
And then we would be saying once we had to rely on Kris Medlen or Jojo Reyes as our 5th starter and rush up Tommy Hanson that we should have gotten another pitcher. Kris Medlen has been better since he’s been in the bullpen. With Campillo going down and Carlyle being hurt don’t know who would have done better in their than Medlen. Down one serviceable starter and still having to deal with the struggles of Frenchy, KJ and Schafer who would have been here regardless, don’t know if one hitter would have made that big a difference when you take all those things into consideration.
My bad. That was wrong Thirst. That was some cheese flick. Here’s the one I’m talking about. This trailor isn’t nearly as intense as the trailor we saw for it last week at Midtown Art Cinema. Movie looks terrific, and trippy.

bases loaded, no outs. pitcher lined out to Roachy who then stepped on first for double play. no runs scored
