Chip’s as harmless as a kitten right now.
That’s a BS call, too. Geez. No way he’s out.
By the way — great rip there Chipper. But still, shoulda been a hit.
Chipper looks pathetic.
Slo-Mo on my Tivo shows that at BEST it was a tie.
Hakuna Matata(Wait 'Til next year)
he was safe!!
August 30th, 20099:16 pm
It looked like he just guessed.
August 30th, 20099:17 pm
Please explain something I’ve been wrong about so far this year.
…gonna go back for another slice of blackberry pie…
not football. I married a guy who doesn’t like either baseball or football. He’s watching a netflix movie.
The race is tightening
Blanton will be taken out next inning, hope we can capitalize on that.
“They actually had good points on Utley, going inside got JJ hurt last game and this game.” Jake W.
Bite your tongue! How in the world could a guy in the HOF have anything insightful to say? Especially a racist (eyes REALLY rolling) like Joe Morgan?
August 30th, 20099:18 pm
They show the 1-1 score, then highlight the Utley homerun and not the Prado. Unreal.
Cali – I was 17 when I met him and by the time I married him, I was blinded to the fact. Hey, I mean, he let me upgrade Dish and watch most of the games this past week. The art of compromise – at least until I get a 2nd TV to go upstairs.
August 30th, 20099:19 pm
bravesgrl4life – Didn’t know they made those
Come on JJ! No walks.
Rob from SC
That 2-1 pitch was a strike
if chipper has to beg for an infield hit forget the playoffs
When was the last time we were as close as 2.5GB from WC or division lead? Come on Braves,,,,,,,,,dont screw this one.
Gov Clinton Tyree…….Kelly Johnson went 5 for 6 when he first came back from the DL. Since then, he’s gone 4 for 36 with 3 errors in the field.
In other words, combined, he’s 9 for 42 for a .214 average…..the same .214 he was batting before he was put on the DL.
It was so funny to see the board light up after his first couple of games back from the DL. If I had a dollar for every posting that ripped me for how “wrong” I was about Kelly, I could afford to compensate the Braves for releasing Greg Norton early (wishful thinking).
Uh, those same bloggers have been “kind of quiet”.

lead-off walks are not good
Utley’s homer was the first off Jurrjens in four starts at this bandbox. But it was Utley’s third in 22 at-bats against Jurrjens
WTF was the ump looking at? BS.
nss—din’t confucius say that?
bravesgrl4life – compromise? nahhh make sure you get the bigger tv when it happens
August 30th, 20099:21 pm
ahhh, true love as long as he understands the obsession…
Chipper was safe……….even ESPN says so………….when they give us a call its only because it was more than obvious.
JJ is getting squeezed and he’s letting it get to him. Focus, man.
dob…phillips put the whammy on jurjjens in the pregame
this is the critical part of the game. Come on JJ.
N8 I appreciate any kind of relevant information, no matter who says it.
Chipper was way safe. Didn’t know from the earlier angle they had but I thought he was, bad break for the braves.
Mid Town Joe
August 30th, 20099:22 pm
Chipper will park one once the Braves have an 8-1 lead.
I didn’t even want to say it.
I went back and looked at it again and he looked out. I first I thought for sure he was safe but the second time he looked out.
He was clearly safe. What better view could you have?
Great call retard.
Come on JJ.
Im calling for a triple play here!!!!!!!!!
Geez, a man who doesn’t like football or baseball? That’s about as strange as Anders posing himself as a quintessential New Yorker even though he ain’t a fan of the Knicks, the Giants, or the Jets, doesn’t have a college basketball team, and doesn’t root for Notre Dame or a Big 10 team or one of the three powerhouse college football programs in Florida. Tells me Anders likely wasn’t raised in a borough, and is therefore not likely a real New Yorker. Maybe just a herb from the burbs who wishes he was a New Yorker
August 30th, 20099:23 pm
Come on Braves – we got gift this week courtesy of the Dodgers and Giants. Let’s not blow yet another chance make up some ground.
Mid Town Joe……….Francoeur would “pad” his stats when the Braves had an 8-1 lead.
Prado’s 5-for-9 with two homers off Blanton
Mid Town Joe,
Wow, 8-1………..so I can turn my TV off?
OK, Paul, Smoltz was 2-11 the first half in 1991, 11-1 the second half. My point wasn’t Kelly Johnson, it’s that Bobby’s patience cuts both ways. It’s frustrating but ultimately it gives good results.
Vazquez. Hmmm. I’m about a run off of my 4-ish ERA that I predicted for him. Which I’ve admitted for 2 months…..
(GASP!!!! Joe Morgan just said Chipper was safe???? World must be ending, huh?)
But my main “gripe” with Vazquez has ALWAYS been that we didn’t need him and we needed another bat instead.
Braves are 14-12 in his 26 starts, despite his stellar ERA. Which tells me that had Wren added a big bat (you know… to affect the OTHER 113 games?), the TEAM would have been better off.
So, while my personal “prediction” for Vazquez’s averageness (ERA) is off. He’s still barely a .500 pitcher and the team is 2 games over .500 in his 26 starts.
August 30th, 20099:24 pm
cabravesfan – he does. He’s that way about 68 Camaros and I support that. One of the most romantic things he ever did was back in the 90s when the Bravos were still at the old Atl-Ful Co stadium. Must have been 1992 or 1993. He got tickets to a game from a girl he worked with and took me to a Sunday afternoon game. I got to see David Justice, who at the time was my favorite Brave, hit a homer. And, if I remember, the Braves won.
“In the National League…Pitchers Bat,” – Jon Miller
Damn, damn, damn. Can we get out of this?
oh crap !
If I am Charlie Manuel…I tell my pitcher that he will be fined if the bat leaves his shoulder.
August 30th, 20099:25 pm
*#!^&*( give up hits after 0-2 counts to #8 hitters
OK- sounds like a keeper (and the ‘68 Camaro is a major plus in my book)
August 30th, 20099:26 pm
We’re in trouble…
cabravesfan – so, what is your experience with male-types sharing your obsessions?
August 30th, 20099:27 pm
Woohooo – that was sweet!
Niiiiiiiice. One mo’!
Could be a game changing play there
We’ll take it.
All right, JJ, bear down right here.
That was a HUGE double play there.
DP works just as good
haaaaahahahahaha. Lets go, JJ. Get Rollins and get out of this.
See….that is why I would have instructed him not to swing….at all.
awesome at bat right there. professional hitter maybe.
That was good.
August 30th, 2009
Im calling for a triple play here!!!!!!!!!
Ill take the DP
How is it possible that I forgot how good Roachy (who I have always been a big fan of) is with the glove?
Yes! Way to go JJ!
OH MY GOD
Wow. Way to go defense & JJ!
Wow JJ is amazing in pressure situations
Whew. Way to leave ‘em loaded, Phillies.
Wow. Just wow. Nice work JJ!
…good for us….but bad managing. GREAT way to get out of the jam by JJ.
Nice, nice, nice.
See, the Braves aren’t the only team that doesn’t score with the bases loaded and none out. It happens to other teams, too.
Wow – how did JJJ get out of that one…nicely done sir. Now we just need to find some offense and get a lead.
August 30th, 20099:28 pm
Thank-You Mr. Blanton
Big time Houdini job there by Jurrjens.
Now lets get the offense in gear. We need some freaking runs NOW.
Well, wasn’t pretty but i’ll take it, lets get some runs.
Pretty impressive escape. They’re booing here.
Ol’ Rochy makes those plays look like he’s reaching across the table for the butter or something. Just totally casual.
Nice job by JJJ.
Horrible job on the Phillies coaches to even allow Blanton to walk up to the plate with a bat, much less allow him to swing with bases loaded and 0 outs.
Thank you Charlie.
JJ’s the man!!!
Can we now take advantage of that “team leaves the bases loaded and does not score the other team usually does” situation now?
offense needs to put a crooked number up for JJ after that
August 30th, 20099:29 pm
N8, your rants sometimes remind me of the way Hitler rants about the Cowboys:
We are finally playing like we want it!!!!!!!!!!!
Come on Mc…………show some MUSCLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most are either impressed or totally scared by the fact that I can talk football or baseball (or basketball for that matter) with them and actually know what I am talking about…recently I have had to introduce certain male-folk to the glories of USC football and why I attend every home game
We need to score here.
August 30th, 20099:30 pm
I for one vote that the official song of philadelphia be boo. It sounds so great when all 44,000 do it together. I guess thats why its so important they get those sellouts up north.
Blanton is dealing tonight
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
