I would rather listen to Joe Morgan than have a rabid badger go after my junk…maybe that’s just me.
and the ryan howard ass-kissing continues. ZOMG he can hit teh ball super far lol.
Gorecki couldn’t carry Ryan Howards nose plugs
Yeah, but who could?
Where is infante…what does cox see in gorecki???
Hakuna Matata(Wait 'Til next year)
Can you say..useless..
Of course a homer against the braves at turner field.
Nate McLouth is average.
Really, really average.
Gorecki is horrible. God get him out of here
August 30th, 20099:02 pm
Haha!! That’s terrible…
ESPN proudly presents “Ryan Howard’s All or Nothing Hitting Approach”
I think Ron Darling is pretty good on Mets broadcasts, but that’s because he has good chemistry with Keith Hernandez. I don’t watch the TBS games because I have a really hard time watching any game the Braves aren’t playing, so I don’t know what he sounds like over there. Chemistry is important in announcing. Could be Darling and Chip don’t have any. Not too surprising. Chip really hasn’t had chemistry with anyone other than his father since he left the Cubs.
Larry, it’s not relevant. Just pointing out that Jared from Subway (in one of his “before” photos), would have a hard time getting a badger in his pants. LOL
If I were the opposing pitcher and I knew some rookie like Gorecki were batting behind LaRoche, there’s no way I’d let LaRoche beat me
August 30th, 20099:03 pm
I hope TP is talking to Gorecki because he needs help.
Oh come on!
Give me a break.
Damn. I hate Utley.
Guess he thought they were going to try to get him to swing at a ball again so he just took it. Not that suprised though. A guy that old thats just now getting called up, there is a reason why. Was just hoping he could hit something early in the count or Blanton make a mistake.
Utley just owns JJ.
Infante in that spot would have been a hell of alot better , Goreki looks so overmatched, Utley hits a dinger……….
August 30th, 20099:04 pm
Kashmir is Utley’s intro song? I was impressed until he just hit that HR.
Did Joe Morgan just say “sharter”?
Now I just hate him and his gross hair.
Batting average .256
Home runs 321
Nothin to brag about…but just lettin you playas know…I had some pop
Man. Chase Utley is good.
That was a rocket.
Damn it! This had to happen since everyone brought up how JJ has never given up a HR in this park.
they jinx us on every ESPN game the whole time they saying JJ hasnt allowed a homer to the Phils all season and blah blah blah
Utley is good.
Boy, Miller sure is happy now…
Nova Scotia Steve
Sharter – lol
Rob from SC
August 30th, 20099:05 pm
Settle down JJ
N8 you are crazy. I listen to every broadcast team at some point in the season and I have to say The Mets are actually one of the better ones. Watch a White Sox game sometime. And Darling is a million times better than Morgan. Actually gives decent insight at times. Appears to do some homework (which it’s a known fact Morgan never does) Why do you think ESPN added Phillips in the booth this year? It’s becuse they needed a color guy in the booth who actually pays attention to what’s going on in the league.
equal hate of Utley and Eithier…
Anybody gonna call for the ballgame yet?
Our offense better get it going soon. There is no way Joe Blanton should make our hitters look stupid.
Thank God that wasnt out of here…
No More Bobby 2.
Same old crap. Whenever the Braves blow a chance to score, the other team is able to do so the very next inning. Thanks Bobby for playing the non-playing SOB Gorecki.
Are they going to do that every time Howard bats?
August 30th, 20099:06 pm
meh, I was hoping for a game free from Philly homeruns .. at least 1 game in the series without them would have been nice
That’s 29 homers for Utley. Between them, he, Ibanez and Howard have 93 homers and 274 RBI.
Good work, boys. Go get it back.
TP should not waste his time; Gorecki is a waste of a roster space. You mean Brandon Jones is only a corner outfield? Hell, I’ll bet Gregor Blanco could do a better job up here, no matter how much he stinks in Gwinnett (awesome DP).
Offense Wake Up
August 30th, 2009
They’ll probably hold off for now…now if we were trailing…
I was just thinking double play.
Reading my mind there JJ.
It’s likely the same folks who are b!tching about Howard and Utley getting so much love had little complaint when CBS would have an endless love fest every Saturday in the fall earlier this decade with the story of the two Davids – Pollack and Greene. They love the men who sell.
What do they suck Phillies off? Showing Futlys homerun and not Prados
August 30th, 20099:07 pm
You were the f’n man back in 1990 and 1991. 2 of the 4 Braves 30/30 seasons. And a personal favorite of mine.
I agree about Ron Darling. He is a solid broadcaster. Funny story – everyone thinks he is from Hawaii – when really he was my Dad’s next door neighbor in Millbury Massachusetts. I mean I know he was born in Hawaii, but he grew up in Millbury.
August 30th, 20099:08 pm
We have 2 hits
Oh well, come on bats – do something!
Well, you kinda knew 1 run wasn’t going to stand up in this ballpark. Come on braves, need more runs.
Gov Clinton Tyree
Paul (and many others), while I share your frustration with Bobby’s willingness to go too long with a guy that any halfway intelligent baseball person can see doesn’t have it – and is probably never getting it back – keep in mind that does give guys confidence and time to work things out.
Think Smoltz, Glavine, Burkett, Gant, Lemke, Estrada, Anderson, Klesko, Roachy, on and on. All guys that went through miserable times and Bobby let them play through it. Another reason guys want to play for him.
So I share your frustration, but who’s to say, for instance, Kelly Johnson, doesn’t go on to have another ten years where he averages .280/.360/.480 as a starting 2B in the league? He’s certainly shown long glimpses in between the ragged times.
I could care less what “insight” the announcers have on TV. When on TV I watch the game and make my own “insight”. Insight is more important on radio when you can’t see the action.
I’d rather listen to Joe Morgan read the Webster’s Dictionary, than listen to an innng or two of Ron Darling’s nasily, New York accent. I’ve watched plenty of White Sox games. They too are horrible.
Before you think I’m a Braves announcer homer, I can’t stand Chip or Joe Simpson anymore either.
But thanks for calling me crazy.
August 30th, 20099:09 pm
Were we supposed to see a big difference in that split screen love fest?
Those “This is Beyond Baseball” commercials are starting to annoy me. That Phillies one made me want to throw something at the tv…
I’m not bitter.
I couldn’t get tickets tonight…
Giving the TV over to hubby. Keep me posted on the game, if you don’t mind.
There you go, JJ. At least make him work a little.
August 30th, 20099:10 pm
So Hudson will now pitch Tuesday then Hanson on Wednesday. Kawakami will go against Josh Johnson tomorrow. 6 man rotation for the week
And now Joe says “so to sweak”
“That’s 29 homers for Utley. Between them, he, Ibanez and Howard have 93 homers and 274 RBI.” DOB
Watch yourself DOB, you wouldn’t want to gush over those numbers. You’ll get lumped in with the biased ESPN guys.
That’s BS…….. That ball was low.
Either way, nice AB JJ. But crap. Would love to have Diaz up with someone on. That was a big call.
August 30th, 20099:11 pm
Blackberry pie has cooled down…eating some now. Mmmmmmmmm.
Because he is a lot better?
N8 we’ve all read your ‘insight’ you might wanna start listening more closely to Ron Darling
Meant to say “couldn’t” care less at 9:08. Wouldn’t want the grammar police to be on the hunt.
He’s still doing better than Brian Jordan would.
The rest of the nation must be REALLY impressed with this Braves’ offense. Three Sunday night games in a row where it’s been pretty awful.
Javy is pitching on Wednesday- they just moved everyone back a day
August 30th, 20099:12 pm
We’re not spending much time..in the dugout tonight
No thank you.
The article title is “Sizzling Diaz”, it’s only natural Matty would struggle tonight
Wish I had tickets…
This is just typical of the Braves this season. Last night we score 6 runs off the hottest pitcher in baseball and tonight we are getting carved up by Joe ‘The very definition average’ Blanton.
August 30th, 20099:13 pm
bravesgrl4life – just tell him preseason football doesn’t count
Man after watching that Utley HR and the inning ending double play…………there is no doubt in my mind that John “fat” miller hates the braves…………he called that HR with so much energy and the DP was called nothing but with frustration……….as if he was a philly fan………freakin old fart zux.
Come on Chipper – snap out of it!
Let’s do something with it. Cmon, Larreee!
Banana Shaped Arch to Left – Nice
nice hit Prado..cmon Chippah!.
My man crush is starting to hit again, it would appear. Atta boy Marteeen.
I’ll take a walk and a homerun, Joe.
As is my 3 year old niece…jordan is terrible
Your right, my bad.
rick flair to left… i miss boog and joe already.
park one Chipper…
They actually had good points on Utley, going inside got JJ hurt last game and this game.
2nd basemen with the solo homeruns tonight so I guess were pretty even right now.
August 30th, 20099:14 pm
“we’ve all read your ‘insight’ you might wanna start listening more closely to Ron Darling”
Really? You mean like me noticing a couple of weeks ago that we win more without McLouth in the lineup, which DOB had in his lead in to the blog today? Is that the kind of insight you’re talking about?
Please explain something I’ve been wrong about so far this year.
Chipper looks so uncomfortable
Calichopper – not football. I married a guy who doesn’t like either baseball or football. He’s watching a netflix movie.
August 30th, 20099:15 pm
he was safe
Chipper hustled – too bad.
Looked safe to me
Can I see that again?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
