Shamus – spiking Norton’s Gatorade with ‘roids would be the story of the century. Can you imagine the talking heads and their storylines:
Career .125 hitter caught with PHD’s. Bonds and McGuire would welcome the story!

Norton has a total of 9 hits this season. I am stunned. Stunned we keep using him as the primary bat off the bench.
Do you think he will reach 10 hits by the end of the year?
DOB: Please, please use that idea for your next blog!!

F.Wren…also it was a legit post dude. So I am wrong, sue me. Don’t see you lighting into Lew because he was wondering if Hudson was available for the 40-man. Glad you have chosen me as your blog whipping boy. Man, get a life, please.
It’s four letters
oh well in that case, it has to be “LOVE”

Hillbilly: Good catch. It was a mistake on my part. Hanson is starting the fourth game of the series, not Lowe. Just read by chicken-scratch handwriting too fast when I was doing the preview box, since it wasn’t on Braves game notes yesterday due to the late changes.

You all are Cox apologists –
I “defend” Bobby because people like you accuse him of the craziest things:
Chipper threw the ball away? Bobby’s fault! Loaf dropped a catch? Bobby’s fault! He should’ve practiced running basket catches before the game! Jurrjens can’t pitch because of a torn nail? Bobby’s fault! He should keep the pitchers manicured! McCann K’ed? Bobby’s fault! He clearly slipped laxitives in the Gatorade!
The power of the blog curse is so immense,
Unless you’re Chipper or MFIKY. Chipper and MFIKY scoff at your silly little jinx attempts.

DOB…watch out for those mistakes. Better for Hillbilly to catch you than F.Wren. Hee hee.
Finally! There it goes
McCann – what’s your idea for “Loaf at work”? Keeping in mind there’s a good chance they’re not talking about Garret Anderson

Who the hell cares, Chinese, Japanese… they’re all the same, and they all suck at baseball.
Now there’s an open-minded approach
Yeah, that Ichiro guy in Seattle has ZERO tools. What a disgrace he is.

jeffrey d – I think it’s ‘idle’
That’s setting the bar high…. Fraternities and Dockers-wearers everywhere thank you.
I’ve been party to both, and lived to tell about it, LOL.

DOB – if you wrote a blog on how awesome reality TV is and how you hope the shows stay on the air forever, that’d be just fine.
I also wouldn’t be offended if you went to cover the Rockies for the rest of the season (but came back here in time for the playoffs)
“Idle” was my thought, too.
(Nobody asked you, V. Jim! )

Sorry, McFann – I couldn’t help myself – I picked up my trusty newspaper and found the clue, then got a couple of the across words

nevermind Reeeeed. He’s a Cubs fan. miserable existence
Good deal. So Hanson-Thursday, Lowe-Friday, Jurrjens-Saturday, and Hudson or Kawakami-Sunday.

What about Hideo Nomo? He’s got Cy Young written on him for years to come.
Welp, I’m off to get a Caesar haircut and see Forrest Gump.

If Anyone other than me was seriously P’d after after that fiasco in Philly then “Give me a Hell Yeah”!!!
I’m conceeding the season. Our AWFense is just Wayyy Too Inconsistant to last even the first round of the Playoffs if we even get there…
Most would be good to know that I was nowhere near a computer when I had a(n) hour-long BF last night after watching us get Clowned in Philly
“I picked up my trusty newspaper and found the clue, then got a couple of the across words”

cab! Where ya been? How’s the wildfires treating ya?
August 31st, 20093:02 pm
CAB – I’m not ashamed…even if that does make me a geek
I was mocking him because I obviously hadn’t gotten any of the across words and then he’s all of a sudden “oh, I just picked up the ol’ newspaper and figured it all out.”
Just when you think we’re making progress as a society…..

new blog should be up! sorry for delay!
And for the blog music: Self-Destructive Zones is Cooley at his very best. One of my favorite lines of all time is “Caught between a generation dying from its habits and another thinking rock and roll is new.”
Some other good ones : (to the evil empire that is called American Idol) –The young ‘uns all turn to karaoke, hanging all their wishes up on disregarded stars.
– “Dead (Cobain), fat (Noveselic), or rich (Grohl). Nobody’s left to bitch…”

This is sheer speculation (not that it’s stopped me before), but I wonder if Norton’s lack of production as a pinch hitter in 2009 has anything to do with his lack of playing time in the field. This year he’s logged only two games at 1B. In 2008, he played 11 games at 1B, 25 in LF, 2 in RF, and 8 as a DH. Granted, when he wasn’t pinch-hitting last season, his offensive output was terrible (OPS in the .600s and .700s), but perhaps getting some time in the field kept him from rusting on the bench.
Before 2007, playing defense didn’t seem to help his hitting. But maybe he’s at an age where sitting on the bench all the time hurts him. Hard to believe such an effective pinch hitter could be overmatched so quickly.
Crazy Trades McGee
Man the craziness of the crazies on here at crazy times of night is just too crazily crazy for me to even get crazy about.

Bobby’s theme song, lyrics by the late great Warren Zevon
Well, I went to the Doctor
I said “I’m feeling kinda rough”
He said, “I’ll break it to you son
Your sh#t’s f##ked up.”
I said, “my sh#t”s f##ked up?”
Well, I don’t see how—”
He said, “The sh#t that used to work—
It won’t work now.”

gLAD TO HEAR CHIPPER DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY MEDIOCRE BASEBALL. NOW IF BOBBY WOULD REALIZE THAT AND MOVE HIM WAY DOWN IN THE LINE UP, WE COULD GET SOME WINS, BUT BOBBY IS “THE PLAYERS BUDDY”, NOT A GOOD MANAGER. PERHAPS IT IS TIME CHIPPER RETIRED TO THE HEAD OFFICE AND LET AN UP AND COMING STAR (PRADO) BECOME THE 3RD BASEMAN WE SO DESPERATELY NEED. WE DO NOT NEED A LEADER THAT CAN NOT LEAD. HIS BODY HAS GOTTEN OLDER BEFORE IT’S TIME, FOR WHATEVER REASON, AND HE HAS NOT BEEN “MENTALLY” IN THE GAME FOR SOME TIME. MOSTLY BECAUSE HE HAS WORRIED MORE ABOUT HIS OWN IMAGE INSTEAD OF THE TEAM. AND FOR ALL YOU CHIPPER LOVERS OUT THERE (AND I HAVE BEEN ONE FOR YEARS) IT IS TIME TO LET GO.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
