Thinking positive this team has been somewhat resilient this year. Someway, somehow they need to win the first game of this series(or amy series) tomorrow. I think it’s happen before, maybe in July. 3 games back heading into September is somewhat manageable. 4 games out, dunno.

Philly fan, you’re the kind of fan that packs that LL ballpark and pouts with tears in your eyes when your team trails in a game, yet gets as arrogant as you can when they win. I say you are a COWARD that tucks his/her tail between your legs and runs away like a bi**! Philly is a VERY disgusting, low down sh** hole from just about everything I’ve heard so it makes sense that you losers act the way you do.
P.S. The Phils are gonna sweep you in Atl to even up the season series at 9-9. Book it. The Braves actually have a nice little squad…. But my Phillies are just way too good… And Ba-Ba Bobby Pet- my-Cox is dumber than umm,umm Charlie Manuel.. Good nite..
I’m not sure about the over/under, but I’m going to go out on a “limb” that at some point tonight, I’m going to REPEATEDLY state the URGENCY to get rid of Bobby.
On July 13th, Kelly Johnson was called back up from his rehab assignment in Triple A, resulting in Brooks Conrad being sent down.
I stated at the time that Greg Norton should have been released instead of Conrad being sent down. I was bombarded with “it doesnt matter who the 25th guy on the roster is” and “Greg Norton is a proven Major League pinch hitter while Brooks Conrad is a career Minor Leaguer”.
Well, since Brooks Conrad was sent down, Greg Norton is 4 for 19 with 2 RBIs and ZERO extra base hits. For the month of August, Norton is 2 for 12.
Brooks Conrad is a pinch hitter with a little pop in his bat. I find it hard to believe that he wouldnt have better stats than Greg Norton if Norton had been released instead of Conrad being sent down.

I just want to sweep FL so we don’t have to see Lou Vales talking about Chipper, hooters, batting cages, and 4 star hotel mattresses 15 times per page. I don’t believe in playoffs. I just want them to sweep the marlins because of him.
What exactly comes across to you that this team is not playing with urgency? Kawakami and company let one get away in the Pads series or else we take 2 of 3. McCann rips one right at Utley or else we tie the game and still are batting in the eighth. I don’t understand how quickly some are to judge this team, when they have played so well over the past 2 months. And with the pitching being as it has all year and the bats much improved since the break, I’m not willing to give up on this team until all the games have been played and we’ve been mathematically eliminated. Just doesn’t make sense to root for a team that has been playing good ball and still well in striking distance to a playoff spot. Not that kind of fan, maybe some of you are, but I like to think we still have a shot at this and continue rooting for this club til my heart sinks because there is no more Braves baseball til next year.
njbraves, he can’t catch up to a 88-89 MPH fastball right down the gut. If the man isn’t injured, and apparantly he’s not, any person would think something isn’t right. Yeah, I hope Chipper proves me and others wrong, but I’m worried.
Or just wait it out man. Hopefully, one day soon Tommy Hanson and Jair Jurrjens will have that good offense behind them. Cain and Lincecum had to suffer through it last year, Cain more than Lincecum. The Patriots just released Kevin O’Connel (the order of the waiver wire is Detroit, St. Louis and KC), so there is a good chance the Chiefs make a claim on O’Connel.
Meaning that with the trade for Matt Cassell, Guitierrez already on the roster and O’Connel possibly on the way, (ready for this….?), if the Chiefs were to dump Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen, there is a chance that they have all three of the guys that backed up Brady on their roster to start the season.
Not likely (dumping both Brodie and Thigpen), yet a little odd to say the least.
Good lord I can’t believe I’m about to defend Greg Stinkin Norton but….
Just because norton got the 27th out doesn’t mean he lost the game. Damn. Yunel and Roachy, who we would all agree don’t suck (or would we?) didn’t do anything in their ABs either. And we had an opportunity in the 8th and we couldn’t do it. Got within 1 point with no outs and an infield full of base runners and we couldn’t do anything with that…I mean, that’s Bobby’s fault? Whatever makes it easier to swallow, I guess….
game 1. 2 – 4 loss
game 2. 9 – 1 win
game 3. 2 – 3 loss. this is opposite to what our Bravos did for 15 years. You’ve GOT TO WIN more close ones than you lose.
It’s the close/ could have gone either way games where the manager earns (or doesn’t) his pay.
Jurrjens, Jordan Schafer, Bradon Hicks, Jo Jo (just to get him off the team) for Carlos Quintin, Chris Getz, Josh Fields and Dayan Viciedo…
This way I get to see JJ pitch more often, Braves get OF power now,and 3B power, an above average future back up for Chipper, and a nice/ok 2nd baseman…
Hmm, it’s actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be on here. Or, is it still early?
Soph – I think it’s usually worst right after the last out (or right after the second out if Norton comes up). I usually walk away for a few minutes to avoid the immediate doom and gloom
I literally think I would throw a batting helmet at Bobby Cox right now if I could.
We’re like Brad Lidge’s slump buster. He doesn’t even have to try. Everybody else, it’s a blown save. We just don’t even bother.
That was pathetic. We are to him what the Mets are to us. Anytime we need to regain our focus and start winning again, the Mets are always there.
My prediction before the series was that the Braves would score 20 runs. I just don’t get how it’s either all or nothing. Nine runs last night and then… WTF?!
You can’t win @#$% if you play like that. And we lost on a f***ing error. That’s just sickening.
Yet another game against the Phillies we should have won.
At first I was happy to just be deflated and say the better team won but this just isn’t acceptable.
I’m sure Greg Norton isn’t happy with the way this year is going but he sure as hell should be. He should be grateful he gets a paycheck and gets to travel and stay in frist class hotels. He’s a ****ing tourist. It’s like he won a contest. I’d love to win a contest where I could hang out with the Braves and do nothing to help them win.
I’m not blaming him for the entire game, actually I’m kind of disappointed in McCann but it’s one thing for the everyday players to miss opportunities… which they did… it’s another thing for guys who have no right being on a baseball field to be given every chance and continue to fail and nothing happens.
We’re in a wild card race. Are we really doing everything possible to win baseball games?
Buddy Carlyle should be our starting pitcher tomorrow, along with Greg Norton starting at 1st, Kelly Johnson at 2nd, Reid Gorecki in centerfield, and David Ross at catcher.
Getting them some at-bats should “get them going”.
1.Best hitter putting together some other kind of career numbers
2.No McLouth
3.McCann and Escobar slow down and have some struggles
4.Prado has health scare, misses time
5.Some guy named Gorecki called up
6.Church has back cramps
7.Some guy named Gorecki starting
8.Soriano struggles
9.Closer to a playoff spot than Philly was the last to years
10.How is this possible?
Maybe we are more fortunate than we thinks guys, 3 1/2 back with a little over a month to go.
How much better could they be if BC starts the runners in obvious DP situations, i.e. Escobar, Chipper, McCann, The Loaf @ bat man on first. Will Chipper hit third until his injury? Would he get mad at BC if he’s “rested” for a few games? Would Infante be more productive the Gorecki? Will Norton spill the beans on BC when he’s released?
Answers, I NEEED answers.
The stiffs on ESPN even mentioned the game Lidge blew against us a few weeks ago. You don’t pay enough attention. You’re not obsessing enough on the details, dude. You need to step your game up.
But there have been numerous times when we could have had a MUCH better chance at winning if someone else had gotten the key pinch-hit appearance instead of Norton! I can remember ONE game this year where Norton got a game-winning hit, but there have been so many more (like tonight) where he just flat-out choked! You never know; had that at-bat gone to someone like Infante or Ross, we could still be playing right now! There was certainly a better chance for that with one of them! Maybe if Norton had been released and Conrad kept up, Brooks could have won a game or two for us. And how sweet would it be to have two less games to make up in the Wild Card race? I’m not saying that would definitely have happened; we’ll never know. But don’t you think we would have had a better shot?
Mitchell: Brad Lidge against the Braves in 2009–8.10 ERA. 1.800 WHIP, 2 HR against.
Try again. Good effort though. You’re blaming the entire game on a guy that went 0 for 1 and got the last out with nobody on base. Whatever works.
nananana, nananana, hayhayhay, good bye!!!
nananana, nananana, hayhayhay good bye!!!
Stick a fork in your Braves….it is over. No Division Championship, no Wild Card. Chipper and the boys will be watching baseball at home in their den this October.
Plus…when does a 50 year old man stop using their middle school nickname? Come on Larry….you have gray in your goatee, let’s drop the “Chipper”. You limp around the bases.
Can I get an explanation on how this one is on Bobby?
Well, the decision to go with Norton over KJ and Infante. But I guess that’s it. I’m seeing a lot of people thought bunting expert Brian McCann should lay one down.
And I dunno….maybe he had something to do with Garret dropping the ball?
Bird/Indian: I’m not blaming Norton for anything. Here’s a team fighting for a playoff spot, and they trot this stiff out there like he’s Chuck Nevitt in a blowout basketball game. . .
It’s hilarious. Sadly hilarious. I mean, even Nevitt would get a bucket during garbage time. Damn, the man never gets a hit.
“Can I get an explanation on how this one is on Bobby?”
Give me one good reason, besides anything before this season, that Chipper should be getting the AB’s in the 3-hole. Add to that…. Greg Norton. While he’s (Bobby) not responsible for him being on the 25 man roster, he IS responsible for using him before KJ and Infante with only one out to spare in the game.
People often talk about a good bullpen turning games into 6 inning games. Well, when Greg Norton is the first option off the bench, Bobby turns the game from a 27 out contest into a 26 out game. Period.
But in the end, Chipper and Loaf’s defense cost us this game.
Look at that Philly lineup… go on their roster and check out their HR/RBI totals this year and it really sinks in how great Jurrjens is. Some of you are suggesting trading this kid? Y’all are NUTS! He has carved those hitters to shreds all year and he gets rewarded with shi*** D and no run support.
And yes, McCann had a shi*** at bat in the 8th. Terrible at bat from so many perspectives that he should be ashamed. Hitting that rocket saved him from getting torched on here, but he acted as if he was batting in front of Chris Woodward in a tie game with 2 outs and nobody on. PATHETIC!
Why is everyone giving up already? 3 1/2 games with Norton leading the bench is not that big of a hole. I like our chances if we fry the fish. I will pry tonight for Norty.
RHR Don’t take it personal! McFann has her hero, I have mine. He’s “due” for better luck next time around.
TnBrian… I’m far from a coward…But you are with out a doubt are a TN redeck… Question: Who’s more racist TN or GA? Judges says: It’s a country gravy tie.
So you think KJ would’ve done something besides make an out there? I don’t. Not the way he’s looked lately. Infante? Maybe. But there’s something wrong with him (injury) or else he would be playing CF over that Reid guy, right? Ok probably not a great example but yeah, the ballgame was …. DOB writing about Matty D thereby jinxing him to go hitless (LOL), JJ walking Ibanez followed by Chipper’s error followed by, I guess, Loaf not having the speed of a 19 year old. I still think Loaf did all he could possibly do to get it. Anywho, I don’t see how Bobby could have helped any of that.
Good, thank you for asking…
I went out with my aunt, grandma, cousin and her fiancee to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the Harry Potter exhibit. I had fun. And I’m still having fun watch people tear each other apart…
Got to win tomorrow though. And the day after, and after, etc.
After watching tonight this was the exact type game that a Heyward could help with. The Braves royally screw up(read:Chipper) but find themselves needing a big bat to provide some heroics but instead send in Norton. I rest my case. Bring up Heyward and the arb issue be damned.
I applaud Steve Phillips for saying we may be seeing the end is getting near for Chipper. He looks old and his defense is not good. Chipper’s contract will be a problem for Atlanta come 2011. it is extremely doubtful we can keep Chipper as the everyday 3rd baseman after 2010. It will be interesting to see what happens. Meanwhile can we move Chipper out of the 3 hole? Nah that would make too much sense.
Good to see Garret’s error changed. Clearly a double but without a doubt many many outfielders would have made that catch. Another quality start and tough loss for JJ.
the Braves (Bobby) are not doing everything they can to win. Why does Infante not even play and Norton does. This is why there is such dissatisfaction with Cox. Simple, there is a power struggle in the organization between Cox and Wren and if Cox wins the organization will lose. Wren has given Bobby the rope he needs this year and hopefully Bobby will bow out gracefully. There are plenty of organizations who would want Wren. How many would want Bobby?
Hey all you Conrad bashers. How bout that Norton! I’m sure glad we didn’t have that career minor leaguer Conrad up. He probaly would have gone down on three straight strikes. Hey you Conrad bashers, ain’t you glad we didn’t have that career minor leaguer Conrad up here to screw things up. Yea, he’d probaly made 2 outs with 3 strikes, a first in major league baseball. You know how those career minor leaguers are. Yea, I’m talking about Conrad. You Conrad bashers, yall remember him. I believe I’ve got it now, he’s a career minor leaguer.
Please excuse my grammar. But it’s the only way I feel equal to you swamp retards… One World Series and all those consecutive division titles. Don’t get me wrong, it was impressive. It had to be the curse of the Toma Hawk.. Why? Who did the Braves beat to win the WS? You guessed it. The Cleveland Indians. I rest my case. Racists -astards. bye,bye losers.
Jake W., post more often. You tell it better than myself and a lot on here can. I agree, we are fortunate to not be 8 out in the WC with that list of guys missing in action. 3 1/2 back with 32 games to go is plenty of time. Never an easy pill to swallow losing to that Philly team in their place, but it is what it is.
I know Norton will get out of it. You fans need to calm down. I have everything under control. I know it doesnt looks that way, but need to have faith on our boys, they will get all their act together. We need Norton to get his timing back cause if we get any closer to the rockies Im planning on playing him at 1B for that final push. This is the best team I have ever managed. Guys are so tough minded you just wouldnt believe it (not even I believe it, as a matter of fact). We are bringing you the WS rings this season, thats a fact. Count on it.

No we’re not!

Would he get mad at BC if he’s “rested” for a few games? Would Infante be more productive the Gorecki? Will Norton spill the beans on BC when he’s released?

PATHETIC!
