Good job MFIKY!
Offense, seriously – do something!
Time to continue being the only team in baseball who “does not” beat up on Brad Lidge.
Gov Clinton Tyree
Soph – ahh, didn’t think so. I think the bunt talk is insane.
Neight @ 10:24–
Bobby! HELLO!! Get that poor guy outta the cleanup spot, DO YOU HEAR ME?????
August 30th, 200910:29 pm
Watch. Next start, Blanton gets bombed. Of course, we could not do it.
Yeah, you bunt your cleanup hitter who’s got about 3 career sacrifices. There’s brilliant strategy.
Regardless of whether you think he’s a good cleanup hitter or not, McCann doesn’t bunt. He hit the ball solidly too. Just right at Rollins.
So MFIKY gets the two leftys but not the righty??
Its not like McCann struck out though. 3 feet either way and he has a base hit and we score and everyone is happy. Chill out peeps got unlucky. Defense has beaten us tonight. BUT, if we can just get Norton an at bat we will win!!! CHOP CHOP!!!
Let’s get the bats out!
I didn’t know that about Soriano retiring 31 straight RH batters…
Lidge faced Kelly, Infante, and Matty on Friday and got 2 ground outs and a strikeout
August 30th, 200910:30 pm
It all comes down to this………… Will I be back to rub it in? Or will I be back to offer my congrats? Stay tuned
soph–yes. of course. mccann bunting? right. sometimes the breaks just go against you. still cant figure why soriano was out there instead of gonzo
How appropriate for us to lose the game on a play kind of similar to the one down in atlanta when lidge threw the ball away.
You people know that Mac used to bunt against the shift right?
You don’t get an Escobar at-bat.
You get a LaRoche at-bat with the bases loaded, cause they wouldve intentionally walked Yunel.
Either way though, nothing was automatic even if McCann bunts. But if his linedrive is hit in a better spot, well, the Braves might have broken things open. Risk vs. Reward, I guess.
well here we go esky gets on and Roachy hits a two run bomb
Jurrjens4NLCY, I wouldn’t trade Jurrjens for Pence.
2009 Atlanta Braves— feast or famine offense at it’s finest
August 30th, 200910:31 pm
There were people on here saying he should’ve bunted but I think you gotta let your cleanup hitter swing. Bad luck happens, what can you do?
N8, McFann: I agree, ‘cept for one thing. . .
LMAO – who hits cleanup?
If Gorecki bats, we riot!!!
We probably should already be winning at this point and definitely should have tied it. It’s bad enough the Jurrjens is at risk of recording yet another loss without getting any runs support but if we can’t come back on Brad Lidge, I will be sick.
How hard is a run?
Even the greatest hitters fail 7 out of 10 times….McCann included. You bunt to stay out of the DP…having runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. With that situation, you don’t need a double or HR to take the lead. Heck, you don’t even need a hit to tie the game. If it were the 2nd inning, OK, I agree…but it was the 8th inning.
I agree Gov Clinton Tyree. Can’t have your cleanup hitter bunting in that situation – gotta let him swing.
Season’s hanging on this inning.
August 30th, 200910:32 pm
Well, Escobar went into the first pitch swinging no matter what.
Nothing wrong with walking Escobar and getting LaRoche up either. The more hitters that come to the plate, the better your chances.
Friday night, we make LIdge look like the old Brad Lidge. Why not do it again?
Correction: He has 7 career bunts.
I can tell you this much. Brad Lidge does NOT want to face Reid Gorecki with a runner on base.
HR on the 3rd pitch.
Maybe not because of Heyward, but for a good 2B, I can’t think of any right now…
Ha, McFann. Or, scream like a maniac at the tv.
Oh the season’s been hanging about 50 innings by now
August 30th, 200910:33 pm
Damn. Why can’t we get some nice video of the two OF’s running into each other?
Great start. Just perfect.
Last chance Laroche. Good luck sir.
need a Roach homer
I know…I’m stupid. Heck, though, he’s been hitting pretty dang good since we got him…BMac’s been cold-and-warm.
Need a homer here.

August 30th, 2009
Season’s hanging on this inning.
Only because the Braves do juuuuuuust enough to keep us watching.. I fear only to be disappointed. I hope they do what they need to…
are we PH for Adam?
3-2, man, sadly, I called this before the game started. This lineup is a disgrace to this excellent starting pitching. Like putting fine gravy on a turd.
Steve from OH
Brad Lidge against the Braves in 2009–8.10 ERA. 1.800 WHIP, 2 HR against.
How can you say these things? How can you constantly be this inaccurate?
The Bird and Indian
I was close. Goodnight all.
Ugh… warning track power
Warning track power there. sigh.
Bad, bad luck tonight.
Yes NORTON!!!! Tie game here!!!!
August 30th, 200910:35 pm
oh crap – Norton
Wrong part of the bandbox to hit it LaRoche.
Perfect ending. Norton.
LaRoche was close… the Braves have really wasted such an opportunity this week…Colorado loses a ton, and the Braves do the same.
Ump wants to go home. That was outside.
Norty’s up. The SportsCenter guys are clearing their throats.
Soph Or, scream like a maniac at the tv.
Ha! I’da gotten in trouble for that…Dad’s tryin’ to sleep; Brother’s most likely reading.
Besides, I can’t even whisper when I’m crying like that…
Oh good Lord, Bobby….Norton? I would literally rather have a pair of pants batting than Greg Norton.
Man. How bad must Gorecki feel right now?
Pinch hit for by Greg Norton?
Season right here folks…………………….bank on it!!
Just pathetic. This is our “best hope” off the bench.
“Hasn’t he been one of our best hitters over the past 2-3 years? “ pryguy
Sure. Chipper won the batting title last year too. What’s that have to do with NOW?
Don’t let these silly little facts get in your way.
In the month of August, the Braves have played 26 games. McCann and Chipper have combined to bat .260 (41 for 171) with 8 HR and 29 RBI between them.
Not really the production you are looking for form the 3 and 4 spots in the order during the stretch drive, huh?
In the mean time, LaRoche has batted .375 (33 for 88) with 8 HR and 18 RBI himself during those same 26 games. Why not bat him 3rd or 4th?
ROTFLMAO – Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere’s Greggy!!! King Turd himself!
lol I didn’t even notice it was Norton. This will make people happy on here.
Oh Hell. Norton?
August 30th, 200910:36 pm
Anybody who seriously believes JJ should be traded…how to put this..is plain, bat-turd crazy.
As if on cue…
Why is Norty up? Did Infante die?
Man, what’s even more annoying about this series loss is the Philly fans are just d-bags.
2010 here we come!
Horribly weak bench, easy out, game over
I think I called it – Norton strike out to end it
Brian the Brain
Maybe Norton will punch the clubhouse door really hard.
Spotlight… Greg Nawton.
Seriously. Give us a fing chance Bobby. Geez.
Hey. Just don’t get cheated up there, Greg.
Norton must give bobby real good hummers
There has GOT to be a better hitter than Norton in our system. Seriously.
I hope your luggage gets lost on the way to Miami, bum.
Now the blogging REALLY begins!!!
Count de Monet
August 30th, 200910:37 pm
and they go out with a whimper.
“Bad, bad luck tonight.”
Really? I’d file tonight’s game under bad defense. Not bad luck.
If Norton is your best option off the bench, then the other available guys should retire from baseball.
N Nine (Norton 2010)
That was not DP to C Norton, but we still love you.
Well lets go sweep the Marlins. Only 3.5 back still we ok. HUGE week upcoming though. We fail this week we are done.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
