Even if we wanted to trade Chipper and he would accept, there wouldn’t be enough of a market for him to get the kind of return we’d need. Unless he started hitting .350 again. But then, why would we trade him?

Are you serious? I’m thinking we’d get two or three marginal prospects at best for Chipper. We’d have to trade someone like Escobar or Jurrjens to get Lester from Boston. I know fans tend to overvalue their players, but come on…

Nope, they’re from the North, automatically makes them smart. Good start by the little righty though. Philly has the definate advantage now. they have the better lineup and they usuaully eat up subpar pitching. Hopefully the braves will give the bullpen some run support.

Chipper isn’t done he’s just not worth the payroll space anymore and he isn’t likely to get any better. Boston needs a Chipper Jones as does other contenders. But that’s getting way ahead, I’m just saying it should no longer be off the table for discussion.

Yes, if I were Wren I’d explore trading Lowe too. The Braves would have to eat a big chunk of his salary, but then they might get a player that helps them too. It’s not as if he isn’t expendable. I’m ok with Huddy and Javy leading the staff next year.

Again, realistically, it just won’t happen. Nobody trades for pitchers with that much money left on their contract, no matter how good they are. If by “eat a big chunk of his salary”, you mean pay about 50 of the 60 million, then maybe. If not, we would have to be the one to throw in prospects to make the deal.

People, both pitches Howard hit out were off-speed pitches, which means they were mis-executed. They surely didn’t mean to throw them in the strike zone. Now if they were throwing fastballs out there, you’d have a point.

i just don’t get it. I mean, every pitch is down to Howard. The best place to get him out is under his hands or above them. You’ve got him looking down in the zone….CHANGE THE F’ING PATH THE PITCH IS THROWN INTO. I’m sure this stuff was covered in the pre-series meetings. Damn it I’m pissed. When I was younger I would have smashed the remote after a pitch like that.

Brian, I think it depends on the team, their payroll, and their needs. Lowe hasn’t pitched in the southern heat before and I think he has been worn out…and it’s been a cool Summer! I don’t hate these guys and it’s ok not to trade them too, but if I’m Wren I’m exploring it because I need some payroll flexibility to fix the offense (Heyward is not enough) and build a deeper pen. I love KK too, but I sure would call Seattle and LA and see if they have any interest.

Yeah i have to say going away against this guy isn’t working. Might want to trying going in against him. Can’t hurt since he seems to only hit homeruns against us if we pitch against him. Need the braves to make some adjustments against Jamie Moyer. You are finally in the ballpark where those flyouts at turner would be homeruns and now you’re striking out.
