If Hanson is out by the time it starts back, that’s probably a W for Philly. Medlen can only save the day so many times and you know Bobby would love to throw Buddy out there for a few innings. We will score off their pen but not enough, I’m afraid. Somebody just doesn’t want us to win this year.

Has any manager ever been intelligent enough not to start their starter when rain is going to be around in 15-30 mins? That’d be cool if they started their game with the bullpen and then brought their starter in after the delay.

Does Howard ever hit an inside pitch out? Seems like if he does, it is far less often that when he hits outside pitches out of the park. Why don’t they pitch him inside more?

TnBrian- you can’t say anything about Buddy on here, people will rip you for that. Even if facts are facts. He had a 8+ ERA before he came back, and he somehow managed raised it with this first performance back. Of course, Bobby would want to get him into the game. Gotta get that 8+ ERA down….

Just as I was thinking, “It’s 3-1, Padres; might be 4-1 in a minute.”, it turns 4-1, and now the Padres might get a fifth run–and do (spontaneous)!
The Padres are looking awfully good right now. Good! Maybe they’ll take care of Florida and proceed to take care of Colorado and San Fran.
Of course, the Braves have to take care of their own business.

Still better than KJ’s numbers prior to his benching so if thats him struggling, I guess i’ll take it.
These rain delays, this same crap happen in philly last year where a good starter got knocked out and philly picked on the weakest part of our bullpen which was Jojo Reyes that game. Needless to say it got ugly. One of two things to hope, 1. Its a short one or 2.Game just gets rained out since its not official.

If this game is rained out, and tomorrow more rain follows during the day only enabling them to play 1 game on saturday, if all of this takes place could Tommy Hanson come back and pitch one of the 2 games on sunday as a part of a double header that day or not?
I guess the Braves can always have Kris Medlen spot start?

I’m surprised there would be a whole lot of anti-Manuel sentiments on this blog…. He seemed to do a good job in Cleveland and is donig a good job in Philadelphia. The negative comments I’ve heard heard people mention is when people are defending him, saying that some people think he dumb because of his southern accent. Surely us good southerners (and even our Califonia friends, who are often accused of being just a little off-center) wouldn’t hold that against him.
