Again, I’ll ask the question…
What did I say? WALK that man.
Dang McFann, that ain’t a cute little turtle. More like a Godzilla nemesis…
Nova Scotia Steve
So we’re going to let Ryan Howard beat us again???
Do we ever….EVER learn
I say he only gets two dongs tonight…..what say you?
Rob from SC
I am really beginning to hate Ryan Howard
The pitch was absolutely horrible. The last thing you do to Howard is pitch away.
DOB all over it, as usual
I hate this park. The LLWS field is bigger. geez
Tommy Hanson guaranteeing himself the loss with that early homer.
Or throw the damn ball inside…jesus
August 28th, 20097:31 pm
Pathetic Hanson even gives him anything remotely hittable-root for hard rain now!
Pitch Howard inside. This away thing is not working
He sure ain’t a cute one…and he’s gonna be let lose in somebody’s clubhouse if this keeps up…
I mean the Fillies’ clubhouse.
Is Werth related to Lerch?
August 28th, 20097:32 pm
Already a rain delay.
Someone needs to be tested for roids me thinks.
Maybe they’ll call the game and save the rest of our Friday night. Braves lose, please call it now.
Is it really raining that hard?
DOB or Shamus can answer?
Well, Hanson and Pedro are done for the night.
August 28th, 20097:33 pm
Happy Birthday Tommy.
Howard’s dinger would have been just a noisy out at the Ted.
Well that plan didn’t work out well. 6-7 innings?
And, Joe…MartinEZ! MartinEZ! Sheesh…
its pouring at the game here. they just wasted a start of one of our best pitchers. they can throw moyer with no problem. i want to know whose decision it was to start this game at all!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 28th, 20097:35 pm
Yay, spotlight brian mccann
The split in the rain is moving toward the park, but impossible to tell if it’ll make it…
Doesn’t the first delay have to last at least an hour, or something crazy like that?
McFann – Mac Spotlight is on again.
Maybe it will rain for 8 hours and Pedro will rust.
August 28th, 20097:36 pm
Let’s start Derek Lowe after the rain delay, that way we can get his loss out of the way, and have a chance at winning 2.
OMG the McCann special,AGAIN? lol
BravesFanInPA: its pouring at the game here. they just wasted a start of one of our best pitchers. they can throw moyer with no problem. i want to know whose decision it was to start this game at all!!!!!!!!!!!!”"
Somebody without access to radar evidently… lol
August 28th, 20097:37 pm
don’t complain, at least its not spotlight francoeur
” they just wasted a start of one of our best pitchers”
That was the plan, that’s home field advantage for ya.
Happy Bday Hanson, yikes.
If Hanson is out by the time it starts back, that’s probably a W for Philly. Medlen can only save the day so many times and you know Bobby would love to throw Buddy out there for a few innings. We will score off their pen but not enough, I’m afraid. Somebody just doesn’t want us to win this year.
SD over Florida 3-1 early…8O
August 28th, 20097:38 pm
Fans should be pelting umps with egg sacs for starting this one on time…
August 28th, 20097:39 pm
Has any manager ever been intelligent enough not to start their starter when rain is going to be around in 15-30 mins? That’d be cool if they started their game with the bullpen and then brought their starter in after the delay.
Shamus you got a radar in your room or something???
Does Howard ever hit an inside pitch out? Seems like if he does, it is far less often that when he hits outside pitches out of the park. Why don’t they pitch him inside more?
August 28th, 20097:40 pm
screwy! I can’t believe this…their goes Hanson for tonight…ugh! Philly definitely has the edge now with moyer if they start the game again…braves might use medlen i guess
N Nine: ” they just wasted a start of one of our best pitchers”
That was the plan, that’s home field advantage for ya.”"
N Nine, you know I never thought of that, but I’ll bet you’re right!!
August 28th, 20097:41 pm
OK I’ll ask the question….How long we looking at here DOB???
I know you are probably waiting for word just like the rest of us…
Why is it that the braves think they can pitch to HOWARD, MANNY, PUJOLS, H. RAMIREZ, DUNN, ETC ETC ETC………..they just dont know how to take care of the big guys………..why not pitch around them?
Eh, nobody pitches anybody inside anymore.
TnBrian- you can’t say anything about Buddy on here, people will rip you for that. Even if facts are facts. He had a 8+ ERA before he came back, and he somehow managed raised it with this first performance back. Of course, Bobby would want to get him into the game. Gotta get that 8+ ERA down….
Steve from OH
So…is Charlie Manuel and idiot too? He started his starter…
August 28th, 20097:42 pm
i talked to the guy who took my ticket and he told me not to lose it so i can use it sunday for the day night doubleheader!!!!!!!!!!! they new it wasnt going to happen tonight. maybe huddy goes on sunday instead and hanson goes on monday
August 28th, 20097:43 pm
Yep! And I got the remote this time! Love the story about him being the bat boy…and about his grandpa.
Hmm. Rain delays aren’t so bad…
Just as I was thinking, “It’s 3-1, Padres; might be 4-1 in a minute.”, it turns 4-1, and now the Padres might get a fifth run–and do (spontaneous)!
The Padres are looking awfully good right now. Good! Maybe they’ll take care of Florida and proceed to take care of Colorado and San Fran.
Of course, the Braves have to take care of their own business.
Charlie Manuel is definitely an idiot….Another ol fool.
1. Because he started Pedro tonight…
2. Brad Lidge is STILL his closer
My vote is hinged on the latter
August 28th, 20097:44 pm
Nova Scotia Steve: Shamus you got a radar in your room or something???
Got it on another IE tab…
Has anyone ever held back their starter because of rain?
Shamus Thacker Maybe well get this rained out and start over. I would hate for this to start and have the ‘pen blow this away and give Hanson the big L.
August 28th, 20097:45 pm
And Joe says, you can’t let him get his arms extended. Next pitch, out and away. POW–ZOOM. Away to the moon Alice! Tommy, son, son, don’t do that again. Singin’ in the rain!
We can always throw medlen………maybe Cox can do some adjustments since huddy will be here by monday.
On the other hand…………if it was obvious it was going to rain, why not send Medlen in to start the game?
August 28th, 20097:46 pm
“Prado since the All Star break:
Still better than KJ’s numbers prior to his benching so if thats him struggling, I guess i’ll take it.
These rain delays, this same crap happen in philly last year where a good starter got knocked out and philly picked on the weakest part of our bullpen which was Jojo Reyes that game. Needless to say it got ugly. One of two things to hope, 1. Its a short one or 2.Game just gets rained out since its not official.
August 28th, 20097:47 pm
Volstad out in the second inning against Padres, Fish trailing 5-1.
SD is kicking floridas rear end…………
hoot hoot why not send out Huddy!!! Suprise!!!
August 28th, 20097:48 pm
Medlen vs Moyer? I like it
They wouldn’t want to deprive poor Ryan Howard of his homerun, I’m sure someone in the league won’t let that happen, lol.
August 28th, 20097:49 pm
Way it’s looking, this game ain’t gonna be played. Heavier stuff gonna hit in around 10-min, then steady for a while..
They HAD to know this was gonna happen. WTF?
August 28th, 20097:51 pm
When was the last time Huddy threw? Possible he goes Sun and KK throws Mon?
I’m pretty sure that Tony LaRussa started a reliever earlier this year.
Who is more important to his team’s success: Tommy Hanson, or Pedro Martinez?
August 28th, 20097:52 pm
Medlen. No question ’bout it. Now IF(!) someone can get Bull-Head Blobby not to put in Carlyle!
August 28th, 20097:53 pm
What’s up with the Pads the last few games?
6-1 now and still got bases loaded.
Tony LaRussa – leave it to him to do something completely out of the book, like not waste your starter for an inning of a game, or hit a pitcher before a position player. Braves should have had their pitchers batting 7th for the first few months of the season, lol.
August 28th, 20097:58 pm
I hate rain delays. *Yawn*
August 28th, 20097:59 pm
Eye of the Tiger. They smell blood. They know they’re toast. They be relaxed. Have fun and be Jack The Giant Killer!

If this game is rained out, and tomorrow more rain follows during the day only enabling them to play 1 game on saturday, if all of this takes place could Tommy Hanson come back and pitch one of the 2 games on sunday as a part of a double header that day or not?
I guess the Braves can always have Kris Medlen spot start?
Hee hee! Sorry Cubbies!!
August 28th, 20098:04 pm
Radar doesn’t look good on weather.com.
I would imagine you could throw Hanson on Sunday or Monday considering he only threw 16 pitches tonight.
August 28th, 20098:06 pm
could activate Huddy early …. he was scheduled to pitch on Saturday anyway
Brandon from Warner Robins
at least there’s preseason football on cbs.
August 28th, 20098:08 pm
Yeah just doesn’t make sense why this game even got started. Two starting pitchers out of the game. Happened a lot to the Braves this year.
August 28th, 20098:10 pm
Padres are putting in on the Fish…kinda like they did to us.
August 28th, 20098:11 pm
Who is more important to his team’s success: Tommy Hanson, or Pedro Martinez?
Hanson. So what?
August 28th, 20098:12 pm
“nova”–Charlie Manuel was the best manager in the game last season and has been one of the best for the last four years or so, and the guy you alluded to isn’t a fool, either, buddy.
Feel free to answer my question from earlier regarding what you were referring to.
Maybe they’ll put in Lidge for the rest of the game.
August 28th, 20098:18 pm
I’m surprised there would be a whole lot of anti-Manuel sentiments on this blog…. He seemed to do a good job in Cleveland and is donig a good job in Philadelphia. The negative comments I’ve heard heard people mention is when people are defending him, saying that some people think he dumb because of his southern accent. Surely us good southerners (and even our Califonia friends, who are often accused of being just a little off-center) wouldn’t hold that against him.
August 28th, 20098:21 pm
Approx. restart 8:30 p.m.
August 28th, 20098:22 pm
Good. Bad Knee. Stuck at home. Need something to entertain. Go Braves!
MFin04, talking about Buddy’s tendensy to give up homers, especially against a HR hitting team in that LL park, is different than talking about his insulin shots, which I wasn’t.
Heath–A lot of Northerners think the South is still 80% rural and are shocked to see how developed it is—though I’m not saying in any way that a rural area needs to be adjusted, just pointing out how many Northerners show their vast ignorance by their stereotypes.
Who’s that lady with McCann’s parents? Her glasses make it look like his debut was in 1990.
August 28th, 20098:23 pm
Restart? Really? Radar does not look good…
August 28th, 20098:25 pm
If they do start back here in about ten minutes then I don’t see why Hanson can’t go back out there. Obviously I don’t want to see him get injured, but it just seems it would be ok since it hasn’t been that long of a delay.
August 28th, 20098:26 pm
Feel free to answer my question from earlier regarding what you were referring to. Ronald M
he was probably referring to your claim last night that Adam was a good first half hitter. I know that I wouldn’t have wanted to miss such revisionist history and the subsequent chuckle I got, for the world
August 28th, 20098:27 pm
Brandon at least there’s preseason football on cbs.
Why would you watch football when you cann watch Spotlight: Brian McCann?
Oh man…this is like, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen…gettin’ choked up over here…
THE REDO OF THE LASIK BETTER WORK!!
August 28th, 20098:28 pm
No…don’t start at 8:30…we gotta finish this Spotlight! I just gotta see how it ends!
I’ll be damned… Hanson’s back out there.
August 28th, 20098:29 pm
is Hanson coming back?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
