Oh no! No! This can’t be happening. It’s our worst nightmare!
PUll Pete. Don’t need Howard hitting a granny.
Yikes. This is eerily familiar.
August 29th, 20099:57 pm
None of those hits were cheapies.
I can’t believe its just the 7th inning.
Blow ‘em away Gonzo.
Ladies and Gentlemen… prepare for the heart breaking inning right here…
chris from md
Was this the inning we fell apart in Game Three? How big was our lead then?

Probably not, Efrim. It won’t hold unless he starts making more contact.
According to fangraphs, he’s either walked or struck out 45% of the time. On top of that, about 30%(!) of his hits are HR, and another 20% are doubles.
Flashback to game 3 of the season. Moylan comes in, gets no one out, 4 earned runs.
Well, he did get the last out of the 6th. However, he’ll need Gonzo to pull a Houdini in order for his ERA to not go up.
Actually, it’s my fault that Moylan SUCKED tonight. I should have kept calling him a BUM and he would have pitched to prove me wrong. It figures on a night that I give him props, he ends up SUCKING.
Giants extending the lead…2-0
August 29th, 20099:59 pm
Alright Gonzy, do your thing!
walk howard,give them a run…..
I guess I can’t argue with changing pitchers after three consecutive singles but Bobby, please don’t plow through the bullpen as you are want to do.
Gonzo, just give him something to hit. We don’t need any damn walks or hit batters. A run for an out.
I don’t care about the past. It’s not gonna happen again.
Just give your players a chance to make a play.
boy, and Moylan had just gotten the Paul Lentz seal of approval . . .
What do you think of Garrett Jones from Pittsburg and how he has been brought along. He’s 28 I think and came up in 07 for 80 ab’s and did not come back up until 09. He is tearing it up now for the Pirates.
August 29th, 200910:00 pm
Yeah Paul, it’s all because of you.
Was this the inning we fell apart in Game Three? How big was our lead then?
Boyer was pitching then, no need to worry…
Sweeeeeeeeet. Go ahead Gonzo!
Sit yo butt down big man.
Paul – nice self-deprecation
Go – Gonzo!
Beautiful,Gonzo. Love ya baby
Kelly Johnson in the game at 2B now, you know what that means…
YOU CAN’T HIT HIM HOWARD!
Sit your big butt down. Wow. That was impressive.
Made him look silly. Gonzo has good success against him.
Moylan’s opp. line vs. lefties this year: .289/.415/.368. 17 BB’s to 10 K’s in 96 PA’s.
Ohh my Gonzo has got brass balls!
August 29th, 200910:01 pm
WOW! Gonzo is a stud!
Sit down big nose!!!
hink what you wish. But I’m telling you what somebody with direct knowledge of the situation said. (Stinger)
no dude think what you wish, I’m not talking about what some friend said, I’m talking about what I experienced working there.I have no idea what your A-AAA, AA-MLB googoo means because very few players do either.
Just go look at the player’s stats at BaseballReference.com and see how few don’t play AAA ball.
And you still haven’t told me just how many of the Sox players skipped AAA and played well in MLB. I can tell you it mas next to none without even looking. Go look it up yourself unless you’re just too scared to see
How many Braves players have jumped from AA to MLB and been successful over the last 15 years? The answer right there ought to be instructive to you.
lol Mitchell. I like your positive attitude today, seriously.

Is Gonzo AWESOME or what???
YOU GOT NOTHIN’
Lookin’ like a guy that used to close ball games.
Wow. Gonzy. WOW.
Sit down overrated Werth!!!
Gonzo looking sharp!
GonZo should learn to pitch with the right hand too, that way, he can set himself up…..
Seriously. I know he likes acting like a rattle snake when he starts an inning, but Mike Gonzalez is TWICE the pitcher out of the stretch that he is in the windup. It’s not close.
So just start every inning from the stretch, big guy.
Gonzo is slinging BBs tonight
August 29th, 200910:03 pm
Ryan Howard vs. lefties for career: .225/.308/.446 in 1,018 plate appearances.
Ryan Howard vs. righties for career: .306/.409/.662 in 1,978 plate appearances.
McLouth went 0-for-1 with a walk tonight, played four innings again. They’re getting killed 10-0 in the sixth (sorry, M-Braves fans)
Mizuno is badarse!
aww.. Boog he isnt working that fast…
August 29th, 200910:04 pm
Boog and Joe like quickies
Stike is ass out.
August 29th, 200910:05 pm
Most men do.
Nice job, GA
GA hitin on the ballgirl…
GA coppin’ a feel?
Gonzo player of game
GA there got caught in a compromising position…
Great job, Gonzo!
That was acceptable
Gonzo is effin awesome. You the man!
Nice job Mikey
August 29th, 200910:06 pm
wow, great work by Mike!
That was good work for Mike….really good work.
That’s how we do, Gonzo. That’s how we do.
And Moylan’s ERA goes down.
You may have a point Chilly Dog but he’s still the Cobra.
Nice pitching by Gonzo.
Call me immature but that slow motion of GA behind the Philly ballgirl was classic
Mitchell……..this is a MUST WIN GAME. It it takes him blowing through the bullpen to win this game, then so be it. No use in saving guys for tomorrow if we blow this game today.
Earlier in the season, you let Moylan try and pitch his way out of it. But we dug ourselves too much of a hole to “save pitchers for tomorrow”.
The last person I want to see is Buddy Carlyle, especially in this ballpark. Due is guarantee to give up at least 2 bombs against this line-up.
Meanwhile if Gonzo gets this last out without giving up a run. Moylan needs to buy Gonzo a keg tonight for saving his ERA.
Moylan comes in tonight, gives up 3 hits in only 1/3 of an inning tonight……and his ERA actually goes down. Kind of like how he blew the last game of the San Francisco series where he SUCKED and his ERA went down.
such a jeykll and hyde team this year.. get man handled by the padres and then man handle the most dominant pitcher in the league right now.
no wonder were bi polar fans this year.
Gonzo looked pretty good, huh?
Well, Gonzo, that’s what we pay you those big bucks for… Great inning!!!
That was an impressive half-inning by Mr. Gonzalez.
Moylan needs to buy Gonzo the porterhouse! WOW, Just WOW
Bobby Cox is a MORON! This team plays with no fire!!!
Wait, what’s the score again?
August 29th, 200910:07 pm
I always liked Mike Gonzalez!
August 29th, 2009
Most men do
I know I do
August 29th, 2009
Props to me! I’m the greatest! I know everything! I have said REPEATEDLY that Gonzo is the man. Thanks in advance for all the props I’m about to get. I’ll probably tell you all thanks individually just to draw more attention to myself but thanks!
Katie ahh, there’s boog’s b-mac story for the day
Yeah, funny stuff…
Oh! But BMac has not looked good at the plate tonight.
Great job by Gonzo there. Whew!
I like to watch!
Just flipped over to the game. What was Garret trying to do with the ball girl?
Bobby and Petey Poo had to make it interesting, tho’
August 29th, 200910:08 pm
Mike needs to go right after guy’s ,just like that when it is a close game.
Don’t try to be perfect just blow them away!
nolie–his OBP is around .350 or so last I checked. He is really a “three true outcomes” guy. (STEVE)
sorry Steve, I don’t trust that yet, his OBP last season was .307. Let me see another year of .348 and I’ll start to agree with you.
0 for his last 17?
Perfect spot for KJ to break out of it.
August 29th, 200910:09 pm
Maybe next inning.
I apologize if you have already answered this question, but do you know who the Braves are planning on bringing up when rosters expand Tuesday?
Come on Kelly, do something useful.
Sorry. Now 0 for his last 18. That’s all right, KJ. We got you for your glove anyway.
Matty, how about a triple to complete the 2-day cycle??
August 29th, 200910:10 pm
lexbrave, I know, dude. They might be the reason I may have to go one BP meds. I swear, when they get into an inning like that last one, before PM came out, I felt my BP go up about 10 points.
Oh, I don’t trust it either nolie, but I am encouraged that he improved his power and his walk rate so much while advancing a level. Definitely need to see it move forward though.
Well, RHR I was going to give you props but your 10:09 negated it out. Sorry.
Stay hot MattE.
Matty D is a SUPERNOVA!!
August 29th, 200910:11 pm
There really is no way to describe what Diaz is doing right now.
Gotta love how Matty D is hitting right now.
Only 3 hits tonight for Matty? Unacceptable. he better get some URGENCY and get it now.
Can anyone remember another stretch like this for any Braves’ player?
I’m having a tough time thinking of one.
I guess KJ had that great month back in 2005. That’s the only one I can really remember that approaches what Matty’s doing right now.
Matty D has three straight games with three hits.
August 29th, 200910:12 pm
Eleven LOB for Philly. Gotta love our bullpen right now. Turning point of the game was Lowe getting out of the bottom of the 3rd mess.
Like I’ve been saying– let’s evaluate this team week by week, not game by game or pitch by pitch. We may actually gain ground on the WC chase after today.
Kelly before DL, batting .214. Kelly’s average now, .214.
What happened? What happened to the Kelly that went 5 for 6 with 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 homer when he first got back?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
