I’m convinced — aliens have taken over G. Anderson’s body.
August 29th, 20099:01 pm
Any word on Roache?
I like the homer cycle
So we did almost nothing against the combo of past-his-prime Pedro Martinez and waaaaaaaayyy-past-his-prime Jamie Moyer… and now we’re knocking around Cliff Lee.
AND, lest we forget, Derek Lowe got through the 4th inning without a colossal meltdown.
Baseball’s a funny game.
Can’t see game. Has it been announced what happened with LaRoche?
cabravesfan – look what you’ve done to me – why am I watching the Falcons when I’m a Giants’ fan (not that either has anything to do with your ‘Niners)?
No, you weren’t being funny…you were trying to be funny. Big difference.
And I know exactly what “joke” you’re trying to make, its just so lame and tired when you post the same “joke” several times a night for a week. I know you really don’t want Bobby to bench Diaz, I get it. I’m not too sensitive to understand it…whatever that means…
Yet again, the point of someone’s post was beyond you….
Also watching the Red Sox and Buchholz has given up one hit through six and that one hit was a bad call by the ump. But they ain’t gonna take it back so he has no shot at a second career no-no.
August 29th, 20099:02 pm
And suddenly: …Rain Delay!
How bout the granny from Gaorecki off Lidge
Anderson is now 10-for-20 against Lee.
And needs just 22 hits to reach 2,500, by the way.
August 29th, 20099:03 pm
How long had it been since Escobar hit a home run?
Smartest thing I have read on here for a while. Good idea sir.
Soph, by the by, I called Braves winning by 3+ runs, and if they do, I win for the next 3 days…
August 29th, 20099:04 pm
rico43: No, nothing yet on LaRoche. Clubhouse hasn’t called PR man yet
N Nine (Norton 2010)
That Granny ain’t happin’ (unless you know who pinch hits)
Hmmm. Not quite sure how your second baseman can’t make that play. It was a foot to his right
you are watching because it’s football season (and I suppose I will forgive you for being a Giants (or Falcons) fan )
August 29th, 20099:05 pm
Man are the Falcons getting some respect now! I have NEVER seen them on network TV down here unless they were playing the Dolphins. I didn’t even bother to look to see if they were on – just noticed it when looking at the TV Schedule. Go Falcons!
Padres tie it up in Florida…4-4.
Here they come…
Padres tie the Marlins again 4-4.
But, don’t tell Lou Vales, he might accuse us of caring.
Nice. Nice. Nice.
That helps. Quite a lot.
HUGE double play there. Saw big inning coming. CHOP CHOP!
The Yunibomber strikes again.
It’s first time Lee has given up three homers this season. In fact, he’d only given up two in one game before tonight.
there they go
August 29th, 20099:06 pm
cabravesfan – just shoot me if I ever mention your Trojans (as opposed to my Tribe)
Paul I will agree with you on one thing. We definitely all hit or all struggle it seems. We either win big (everyone rakes) or lose close ones (nobody does).
Look at plus/minus in runs scored. We are only 6 games over .500 and are +58 runs scored. St Louis is 20 games over .500 and is +66, LA Angles 25 games over and + 77. We either win big or lose small.
Strong thunderstorms heading into Philly, but it may be twenty minutes or so and should last fairly short time
August 29th, 20099:07 pm
And there they go…
Flipping back and forth between the Braves game and the Dallas-49ers preseason game. Normally, I’m not big on preseason. However it’s good to get a sneak preview of how the Cowboys will be without T.O.
thin ice, dear…very thin ice
August 29th, 20099:08 pm
I know you get a lot of idiotic comments on this blog about something to ask Cox or the players (”ask Chipper why he sucks,” or “ask Bobby how Francoeur is blackmailing him,” etc.), but I really would love to know, honestly, why McCann and McDowell feel setting up outside is the best way to pitch to Howard.
Is that the book? Their own plan? And why not come inside?
a. Just say by the way! Are you doing that just to annoy me?
b. I don’t know about the next 3 days. I’ll give you the win for today though.
c. Come to think of it…no I won’t give you the win.
August 29th, 20099:09 pm
I could be wrong, but seems like up and in would be the best place to pitch Howard…he dives over the plate when he closes up….
August 29th, 20099:10 pm
Ok Lowe, do not put the ball there again.
It would seem that a large number of things cause me a great deal of displeasure, though I would argue not as many as you all think, but if there’s one thing that has bothered over the years as a Braves fans is how everytime we’re about to face a tough pitcher, all the announcers act like we have no shot of winning.
It’s like, “well, the Braves have been playing well lately but it’s going to be impossible to beat this guy tonight.”
Anybody can be beaten on any night. I don’t care who it is. It doesn’t have to take an act of God but the Braves announces always act like they shouldn’t even bother to play the damn game.
F Cliff Lee. F the Phillies.
I’ll stop if you give we the win…
Put him on! Don’t pitch to him!
Heath. You’re not wrong. At all. Which is why pitching him outside — into his power zone — doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.
So I’d like to know what the thinking is there.
August 29th, 20099:11 pm
I think Lowe was still shocked that the ball Howard hit was not a home run.
Come on Derek!
Intentional Walk to Howard
Yeah, D Lowe!
Howard looks like a douche. He did his little HR pose and it was a foul ball….loser. Now sit down yo
August 29th, 20099:12 pm
Unless you can strike him out!
glord1…..major props with your 9:06pm posting. We should have a far better record then we do.
The offense is capable of scoring runs. It has shown that in a number of games.
However, being consistent is something that only the good teams can do. I feel that the Braves have the talent to be a good team. However, we are not always managed properly.
On some nights, you can tell by the way the Braves are playing that they arent “mentally prepared” to play with a sense of urgency.
Meanwhile, Derek Lowe is stepping it up tonight.
That’s what I’m talking about!
Sit your ass down.
Ha, ok it’s safe to say it now.
Nana nana boo boo, Howard.
So thats how you get Howard out huh? Don’t throw the man strikes!
ok now it can start raining and rain all night.
I still would have put him on.
And that pitch was inside. Under his hands. And a ball, of course. But hey, we’ll take it.
Seems like Lowe was just going to pitch it where he wanted and sort of ignore where the catcher was set up.
Before tonight, Diaz, LaRoche, and McCann had 18 of Braves’ 29 homers and 54 of their 118 RBI in August.

“Flipping back and forth between the Braves game and the Dallas-49ers preseason game. Normally, I’m not big on preseason. However it’s good to get a sneak preview of how the Cowboys will be without T.O. – Lentz
Wow, that’s awesome man. Really cool. Glad to hear it, happy you could share it with all of us. Really. Totally cool, dude.
Please be sure to let us know what else you decide to watch as the night progresses, ok? Blog is on pins and needles.
Who would have thought the Bravos would put up a 6 spot of Cliff Lee. If they hang on, they will have a win against Lee, Halladay, Lincecum, and Santana but they can’t beat Mat Latos, Micah Owings, or Anibal Sanchez to name a few. Puzzling.
Aggravated right hamstring for LaRoche.
(We didn’t even know he had a hurt hamstring)
August 29th, 20099:14 pm
Atlanta is just whipping Howard now…
…Wait, thats probably not sensitively correct, my apologies…
Does Lowe come out again in the 6th? I say yes.
Cliff Lee thought the NL was a bunch of light-hitting, offensively-challenged teams.
Then he went up against Matt Diaz. Sucker.
(”By the by”, I don’t give wins to anyone.)
August 29th, 20099:15 pm
I would like to comment that in spite of some of my occasional enraged rantings, I think D-Lowe has been doing a good job tonight.
I really meant to say it earlier. I’m not just saying it now because we have a lead or because he struck Howard out.
I was hoping he would come through for us tonight and so he has.
He walked Gorecki? HAHA!
August 29th, 20099:16 pm
Hate to hear that about LaRoche..hope its only a few days thing..
Felt a freaking disaster inning coming, glad i was wrong…
Dlowe may have tro go a little further than normal tonight, but with Huddy coming back he can have an extra day off.
Get em on, Get em over, now get em in.
Albert Diaz up
Rob from SC
Mike Hampton has opted to undergo season-ending operations on his left shoulder and both knees.
Hampton, 37, hopes to return to baseball at some point down the road. “I’m going to have this surgery with every intent of continuing to play,” he said. “During the off-season I’ll pick up a ball and start throwing. I’ll rehab and see if it’s going to be doable to be capable of playing.” Hampton was 7-10 with a 5.30 ERA over 21 starts this season.
August 29th, 20099:17 pm
Mitchell, I’m proud of you for your 9:15. Very, very proud.
7-1 after diaz gets done.
Ok, well, I still deserve the win for today, and I’m going to get it…
Damn, Dob. You be bringin bad news too much.
Steve from OH
Whoever described this offense as bi-polar the other night was friggin’ spot on…
Rob – “They called him Mr. Glass”.
August 29th, 20099:18 pm
good stuff SoonerBrave lol
My boy Kelly…wants a piece of these Phillies…get my boy in there Bobby !!…tia
I just went through Cliff Lee’s day-by-days and last time he gave up three homers was June 8, 2007 at Cincy — 70 games (66 starts) ago.
“Who would have thought the Bravos would put up a 6 spot of Cliff Lee. If they hang on, they will have a win against Lee, Halladay, Lincecum, and Santana but they can’t beat Mat Latos, Micah Owings, or Anibal Sanchez to name a few. Puzzling.”
The Marlins can’t touch Jamie Moyer. Sometimes teams just don’t do well against certain guys. Happ is another guy we really struggle to beat. However, I would say Latos and Sanchez are pretty good pitchers, who can be great on any given night. I’m actually glad we got to face Lee instead of Happ.
I would suspect Mike Hampton has some investments in the medical fields. I would hate to be his health insurance company
Shocker of the year- Reynolds, M (40).
Matt struggles against rightys, but thats a Matt Diaz struggle… Keep that in mind
August 29th, 20099:19 pm
Diaz always busts it down the line. One of the few Braves that does.
anybody know if matty d is under contract for next season?
Cody Johnson hit two homers tonight…32 on the season.
Even if we Heyward made the team out of ST next year, hasn’t Diaz all but earned a starting job in the OF next year (LF)?
August 29th, 20099:20 pm
Marteeeeeeeeeen! Woop woop.
Welcome back, Marteeen.
And that’s in 416 total AB.
a good job tonight.
I screwed up again. Great job, you have to say he’s been pretty great.
Martin, you are my hero.
woo! Pour it on! I like our chances tomorrow. We normally hit Blanton pretty well.
Keep adding on. I need a 10 run lead to feel comfortable against this team.
August 29th, 20099:21 pm
3 for 42? And I’m not gonna lie, Im having a hard time remembering the 3.
3-42. That’s horrible…
He is pulling a Francouer.
Insurance is always good in Philly.
August 29th, 20099:22 pm
