So we did almost nothing against the combo of past-his-prime Pedro Martinez and waaaaaaaayyy-past-his-prime Jamie Moyer… and now we’re knocking around Cliff Lee.

AND, lest we forget, Derek Lowe got through the 4th inning without a colossal meltdown.

Baseball’s a funny game.

No, you weren’t being funny…you were trying to be funny. Big difference.

And I know exactly what “joke” you’re trying to make, its just so lame and tired when you post the same “joke” several times a night for a week. I know you really don’t want Bobby to bench Diaz, I get it. I’m not too sensitive to understand it…whatever that means…
Yet again, the point of someone’s post was beyond you….

Also watching the Red Sox and Buchholz has given up one hit through six and that one hit was a bad call by the ump. But they ain’t gonna take it back so he has no shot at a second career no-no.

Paul I will agree with you on one thing. We definitely all hit or all struggle it seems. We either win big (everyone rakes) or lose close ones (nobody does).

Look at plus/minus in runs scored. We are only 6 games over .500 and are +58 runs scored. St Louis is 20 games over .500 and is +66, LA Angles 25 games over and + 77. We either win big or lose small.

DOB,
I know you get a lot of idiotic comments on this blog about something to ask Cox or the players (”ask Chipper why he sucks,” or “ask Bobby how Francoeur is blackmailing him,” etc.), but I really would love to know, honestly, why McCann and McDowell feel setting up outside is the best way to pitch to Howard.
Is that the book? Their own plan? And why not come inside?

It would seem that a large number of things cause me a great deal of displeasure, though I would argue not as many as you all think, but if there’s one thing that has bothered over the years as a Braves fans is how everytime we’re about to face a tough pitcher, all the announcers act like we have no shot of winning.

It’s like, “well, the Braves have been playing well lately but it’s going to be impossible to beat this guy tonight.”

Anybody can be beaten on any night. I don’t care who it is. It doesn’t have to take an act of God but the Braves announces always act like they shouldn’t even bother to play the damn game.

glord1…..major props with your 9:06pm posting. We should have a far better record then we do.

The offense is capable of scoring runs. It has shown that in a number of games.

However, being consistent is something that only the good teams can do. I feel that the Braves have the talent to be a good team. However, we are not always managed properly.

On some nights, you can tell by the way the Braves are playing that they arent “mentally prepared” to play with a sense of urgency.

Meanwhile, Derek Lowe is stepping it up tonight.

Mike Hampton has opted to undergo season-ending operations on his left shoulder and both knees.

Hampton, 37, hopes to return to baseball at some point down the road. “I’m going to have this surgery with every intent of continuing to play,” he said. “During the off-season I’ll pick up a ball and start throwing. I’ll rehab and see if it’s going to be doable to be capable of playing.” Hampton was 7-10 with a 5.30 ERA over 21 starts this season.

The Marlins can’t touch Jamie Moyer. Sometimes teams just don’t do well against certain guys. Happ is another guy we really struggle to beat. However, I would say Latos and Sanchez are pretty good pitchers, who can be great on any given night. I’m actually glad we got to face Lee instead of Happ.
