Raul Ibanez looks like a giant praying mantis!
August 28th, 200911:15 pm
Well, outside didn’t work the other homerun times, but I tells ya; this time setting up outside to Ryan Howard will work!
N Nine (Norton 2010)
I’m all for it. I agree with Cox, Norton makes us better. I think he’s our emergency catcher. I’ll pay to see that.
If Howard could play all 162 games against the Braves, he’d win the triple crown hands down.
Bring on Lidge.
If there was any justice in this world he would have ten blown saves against us. He is the luckiest mother f***er on the planet.
Come on Braves!
RHR – if we lose you have to post that link for that kid dancing. The one from the other night.
August 28th, 200911:16 pm
Lidge blew the save last night. Can he do it again?
it means i spelled it wrong cuz i had to catch that ric flair
Oh. I thought it meant you were doing something original for a change.
“Gonzo got lucky with that pitch over the middle of the plate to Howard”
Don’t know if its lucky, maybe he got his timing off or that pitch did look more inside than the others that he hit for homers. Whatever the reason, with no one on base i’ll gladly take the double. Gonzo was very successful in his attempt to not give up a Ryan Howard homer.
Please tell me this ninth inning is where the Braves begin the march back toward contention….
Lets see…this team needs for 2010
e) a decent pinch hitter that could hit at least the Mendoza Line
f) a closer
g) possibly a 3B
August 28th, 200911:17 pm
Hey Jim……missed your posting on the last page. Hey! And thanks for the props! LOL
Oscar Myers has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A
Come on, Kelly! Pretend you’re in L.A.!
c’mon Kelly….make me look smart for staying on your bandwagon
Jeffrey d 2.
Sorry. I left Kelly Johnson out.
Rob from SC
August 28th, 200911:18 pm
Let it hit you
That was NO strike!
KJ is almost as worthless as Norton.
Steve from OH
Either way, what you propose is not revenue-neutral so where you going to get the money from?
That was the caveat of my post…not gonna take the time to do that tonight. In the future, I might. Remind me later sometime.
Now if you could get Qualls, Konerko, and a leadoff guy then I’d be happy.
Ok, I should know who you are with that Qualls comment, but I don’t. Anyway, that would not be revenue-neutral either if you keep Soriano/Gonzo, and if it’s Soriano or Qualls I want Raffy. And I don’t think a leadoff guy is gonna help this team appreciably. We need HR pop. We need a big-time cleanup hitter (no knock on Mac). That will get us much farther than a speed threat.
I don’t trade KK and Vazquez. Leaves us no pitching depth whatsoever, unless we want to rush Minor.
starting the KJ 2010 fan club tonight
Watch Lidge make the Braves look like little leaguers, excep Matty Ice
Kelly Johnson is just a mother f’n spark! Atta boy, KJ. Nothing quite as soul-sucking as seeing him lead off an inning
August 28th, 200911:19 pm
LET IT HIT YOU KJ…WE NEED BASERUNNERS… and of course he grounds out the next pitch. Braves just don’t take pitches. Lost art.
Yes! I’m not the only one who uses the Price is Right fail horn in non Price is Right situations
let it hit you
Nice hit Kelly. Nice move Bobby Cox. Don’t think this game is important or anything Bobby.
Bobby, WTF? Who do you manage for anyway? You’re killing us!
Always great to start off the inning with an out.
Kelly muthaf%$ing Johnson
“No one knows what its like…. To be a Braves fan.”
This team is bad folks, really bad.
Anyone else think this lineup could use more lefties (yawn)?
you would never know Lidge has a 7+ era
August 28th, 200911:20 pm
god i hate kelly johnson. i hate him very much.
THIS IS A F***ING RIP-OFF!
you cant pitch him outside Or breaking balls or off speed pitches.
Why do we keep pitching to Ryan Howard?…can anyone give a reason?? and what does our HOF manager do..he keeps letting them pitch to him…more proof that Cox seriously needs to retire…
Come on Diaz, keep it going
Hit it right back at his face Matt.
Steve from OH We need a big-time cleanup hitter
Yeah…BMac’s just been too streaky this year. Hard to figure…
August 28th, 200911:21 pm
I’m glad the Medlen-Moyer match-up worked out so well.
Matty is killing this team!!!!! Get him out of there!
Here ya go, Soph – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTBdqs5wipo
Well, it was fun in the 90’s. Even through 2005. This is painful.
Eff it. What a sucky game.
Hakuna Matata Norton can help part “E”
Jurrjens4NLCY Think of the potential, we can’t give up now. Seriously, I think he can find is ‘8 bat back.
Ballgame Norton 0-1
Not surprised. Not at all.
When Kelly Johnson went on the DL, he was hitting .214.
After getting off to that hot 5 for 6 start…….damn, he’s still batting .215. I thought that out would drop his A$$ back down to .214.
Anyway, we made Lidge look like Mariano Rivera tonight. We are the medicine for any struggling pitcher who needs some medicine to cure them.
We get to watch a no-hitter tomorrow!
Diaz hits a homer!
Lidge starts pitching like that they will win it all
If next year Frank can tackle the offense, wouldn’t hurt if it was with same shrewdness as this offseason, we should be in good shape. “Maybe next year”- the comforting words of a lifelong Braves fan.
-signing off folks -
That looked like an Andruw swing!
Infante now at .315 and sinking faster than this team’s playoff hopes.
No More Bobby 2.
Hannah Louisiana. The only OUT that we would like to see is Bobby Cox.
August 28th, 200911:22 pm
wow…..he made that look easy.
2010 ……here we come.
Good job Lidge, you shutdown 3 bench players. Got to be inspiring.
That was cr…uddy.
Looks like the Brave’s bats got left in Atlanta with your luggage!
please oh please Philly … sweep this sickening team. KILL THEM OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS!!!!
August 28th, 200911:23 pm
Obviously you weren’t around in the ’70’s and 80’s if you think this team sucks!
McFann How about you, we always agree….Bring back Norton? He cann backup Mac.
August 28th, 200911:24 pm
LETS GO CARDINALS!
You can sure as hell bet I’m not watching the next two games, sorry Jurrjens, This will be the first time I missed on of your starts….
Can we just please fast-forward to the PHI vs. NYY World Series?
Hopefully Chipper has one of his famous tweaks so we can actually have players with fire and passion out on the field.
DOB, if you talk to Chipper, be sure to pass on to him that he’s really hated by the majority of your bloggers. Like he’d care, but still… it’d be very much appreciated.
THe 2 pitches Howard hit out weren’t even strikes. WHy keep pitching him away or even at all. He has single handedly won 3 of the last 4 games. Whatever “book” we have on him needs to be thrown away.
August 28th, 200911:25 pm
EVEN IF FRANK GETS A BIG BAT IN THE OFFSEASON, IT JUST MEANS THE PITCHING IS GOING TO SUCK.
Ugh, Cardinals JJ?
This kind of reminds me of the 2000 – 2005 Braves that managed to lose the first game in six of seven play-off series.
Baghdad Bobby Cox
We were just unlucky. A few bad breaks. A ball or two an inch to the left or right and we’d have scored ten runs easy tonight. Howard’s homerun was cheap. This ballpark stinks. Medlan is a future ace. Greg Norton look good again. The playoffs are very much in reach.
August 28th, 200911:26 pm
Don Sutton is the best.
Said if Diaz gets a slider he was going to hammer it. No sooner than the words were out of his mouth, Jim said, slider strike 3 swinging!
Don, just shut up, and tell us what happened after it happens.
I surely hope this is all a joke.
Sad when a 46 year old who can’t break 80 whoops you! I guess we should have kept Glavine, he’s only what 42?
Moyer and Howard get the nod for players of the game tonight.
Hakuna Matata(Wait 'Til next year)
difference between the Phillies and the Braves. Phillies are CLUTCH…the Braves are the exact opposite..Thats why they are in 1st place and cruisin to the playoffs..Braves get to watch them from home…
I haven’t heard any follow-up to the Bill Hohn disaster from the game against the Marlins back in July. Has MLB investigated it? If so, were there any repercussions? If not, why the crap not?
I work for Liberty Media, I think we’re leaning towards resigning our free agent Norty! Anyway to keep Cox happy.
Norton for 2010
August 28th, 200911:27 pm
lol thanks for the link RHR. People, click on it if you want to laugh.
Sorry To Say But...
August 28th, 200911:28 pm
Steve, yeah, I thought the Quall’s comment would give me away..lol! But again, until you put the bait out you’ll never know what possibilities exist. I don’t want to foreclose on much as there are way too many variables involved with not only our team, but other teams as well. I could see 9other teams looking to deal this offseaon. For example, what will the Brewers do? I’ve already mentioned the Red Sox, and the White Sox are never a static team. What will the Tigers do? Who will be Free agents, who will resign, there are so many variables unknown at this time that it’s tough to say that this or that isn’t going to happen, or that there will be no deal available to the Braves.
I can’t believe a swath of us–myself included–are still coming at this as though the Braves have a chance to make the playoffs. It has been nothing but self delusion for 3 weeks now. Can you imagine if we still had the old two division per league system when there were real pennant races that seperated the men from the boys? We would have accepted that our team is a collection of boys in June. The fans would have stopped going to the games weeks a- oh wait, they did anyway.
Until Bobby Cox is gone, this team will never perform to the level they are capable. If we get rid of Cox, then the rest will take care of itself, i.e. Pendleton will be gone, Norton, Acosta, and Chipper will be gone.
August 28th, 200911:29 pm
Joe Simpson letting the excuses flow… listen to this man.
Jurrjens4NLCY Huh? I’m sure both of us agree this season is all but done, we need to look ahead. I like Norton. He will come cheap, why not?
“THe 2 pitches Howard hit out weren’t even strikes. WHy keep pitching him away or even at all. He has single handedly won 3 of the last 4 games. Whatever “book” we have on him needs to be thrown away.”
To be fair he only won them because our offense has failed to showup these last two series against the phils. Say what you want about Howard hurting us, their lineup in general can put up some runs. Scoring 1,2, or 3 runs against this team just usually isn’t going to do it. Even with his heroics the phillies only scored 4 runs this game. They aren’t beating us down or something. Offense has just decided to go m.i.a the last few series.
August 28th, 200911:31 pm
DOB, if you talk to Chipper, be sure to pass on to him that he’s really hated by the majority of your bloggers
And when you do, please don’t fail to mention that the majority of your bloggers are complete idiots.
Baghdad Bobby Cox,
You forgot your best one: “anybody can beat anybody”…lol what a manager we have..
Doesn’t really seem fair for Hanson to get the loss.
He allows one run – the Braves get 2 runs -
Medlin allows 3 runs (which is th losing difference!)
This sucks for Hanson!
August 28th, 200911:32 pm
I’m just gonna be bold N say it, Norton will get A hit this series, you just watch.
I think even the eternal optimist would have to say the season has run it’s course. Just not enough bats. You have to give Wren a lot of credit for filling holes thoughout the season, but it was too late in coming. Of course, if Chipper & McCann had turned in the years you would have thought they would, it might have been different. Hard to believe that their suppar years cost us, but I think that might be the case.
But again, until you put the bait out you’ll never know what possibilities exist.
Right! And I noted that in my original comment. I’m not in the business so I don’t know what the people in the business are doing with their players. And yes, if I’m a GM, I’m exploring every angle, inquiring on every player. That goes without saying. I’m not sure what kind of argument you’re trying to make?
August 28th, 200911:33 pm
lol jeffrey – Meadowcreek lost 47-0 tonight. Brings back memories.
He oughta just mention that you’re at the top of the list of Chipper haters.
“difference between the Phillies and the Braves. Phillies are CLUTCH…the Braves are the exact opposite..Thats why they are in 1st place and cruisin to the playoffs..Braves get to watch them from home…”
Or it could be that their hitters are just better than ours, just a thought.
The Phils may be cruising to the playoffs but they ain’t exactly the powerhouse they were last year. The back of their bullpen is sketchy and if not for the trade for Lee their rotation would be relying on some duo of Moyer and Pedro.
Now why don’t you come out and tell me who you are? Why so afraid that you must hide behind a fake name?
Because Norton sucks, he is a liability in the field and an automatic out in the box.
August 28th, 200911:34 pm
Night all!! I will now sleep and think about my mann. I hope he proves himself worthy this last month.
What the F happened to my F-ing post?!
I wanted to say F one last time.
F. F this F-ing BULLS***!
F the umps. F***ing rain delay BULLSH*. F Ryan Howards BULLS*** homerun.
F Brad Lidge. Only a pitcher as bad as Brad Lidge can have a season like ‘08.
How many game winning homeruns has he given up in the playoffs? One to Furcal in ‘04. One to Edmonds in ‘04 NLCS. One to Pujols in ‘05. 2008 was a complete anomoly. He’s a lucky MFer.
F these F***ing Phillies. Howard gets a solo homerun that would have been an out in Turner Field. We hit FIVE flyballs at home in that Friday that would have been bombs in this cheap little field.
Ryan Howard is going to hit a thousand homeruns if he stays a Phillie his whole career and a third of them will be second row bloops to left field.
August 28th, 200911:35 pm
I am going to write to Bud “Jack off” Selig and tell him that if you need a minimum of inning pitched to win you need the same to lose.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
