I’m hoping that Chipper’s line-out to left means he has gotten his swing back. That swing was one of his best in a while. I’m glad we have the meat of the order coming up in the eighth, and I hope batters remember it’s perfectly okay to take a walk most of the time. One of the best ways to kill an inning is to try to blast a 2-0 pitch when you maybe aren’t seeing the ball so well.
I guess Bud Selig is planning to do absolutely nothing against the umpire who gave Florida’s catcher a fist bump. Never mind the fact that that sort of thing attacks the credibility of the game infinitely more than individuals taking steroids.

I’m still baffled as to why Matt Diaz hasnt been benched. After all, didnt Bobby bench Diaz earlier this year (despite being in a 13 for 26 stretch) so Jeff Francoeur could “get some at-bats”?
Doesnt Bobby realize that Kelly Johnson also “needs some at-bats”?
Meanwhile, another hit, 3 doubles for tonight. Diaz is absolutely raking. 16 for his last 24. 21 for his last 40. Dude is simply ON FIRE.

I think Chipper winning that batting title was the worst thing that could’ve happend to the Braves last offseason. People thought, “yeah, he’s older now, but he just won a batting title”. Well, look at him now, declining, and FAST!

Steve, I forgot to answer your “whom plays….” questions. My answer is that I don’t know. That is why I said explore all options, see what other teams are willing to deal and put together something. To say that id Chipper isn’t playing third (which is frequently the case, or seems like it) that there’s no 0ne else that could play there just doesn’t ring logical to me. I like a GM like Kenny Williams because he doesn’t stand pat and always seems to be able to make moves. Of course he can spend more which helps too.Bottom line is if you never ask other teams and just say “oh it’ll never happen”, then you’ll never know if that was true or not and that is a bad way to run any franchise.

Weird.
The Phillies’ no. 4 hitter takes a slap swing to left and hits into the fifth row. The Braves’ no. 4 hitter actually squares up a pitch pretty well to the opposite field – and it ends up in the middle of the track.
