Oh wait! Here comes Norty! We got this now!
Are we the Marlins? Why is this happening?
..oh good he’s gone
changing pitcher for Norton?
August 28th, 200910:37 pm
They were scared of Norton lol
i said 9th straight earlier. I think it’s the 8th straight series (minimum 3 games) in which the Braves will lose Game 1.
LOL, taking Moyer out because Norton is coming? LOL, funniest thing I have ever seen at a baseball game? At least that’s what the Phillies announcers said…
Yunel's Frosted Tips
You people wanting to trade Chipper, just who do you think is stupid enough to take on that contract the way he is playing, that ship has sailed, we would have had to trade him after he won the batting title last year before he signed the new deal. We are stuck with him like a fat ugly wife who has a rich daddy.
The mere sight of Norton approaching the on deck circle scared the Phillies so bad they decided to go to the pen to get a fresh arm to pitch to him.
Moyer goes 4.1
Medlen goes 2
August 28th, 200910:38 pm
Moyer is Manual is afraid of Norton, I’m the one laughing…
Yeah, well, I wouldn’t want them taking out any of our guys.
Huh, considering which position player is the easiest to take out…
Just keep it close for when Lidge comes in…
Jamie Moyer is 50 and he just threw 4 + Innings and allowed only 1 run
August 28th, 200910:39 pm
I guess Charlie Manuel thought that Norton would be able to catch up to Moyer’s fastball.
Steve from OH
Of course not, but Chipper is going nowhere, like it or not. Neither is Lowe. If a team wanted Lowe, they’d have signed him in the offseason. They’re not going to take him now (at the price of the highest bidder) and give up pieces to get him.
Secondly, the team’s bullpen is really good. Of our 5 bullpen stalwarts (Raffy, Gonzo, OF, Moylan and Medlen) the highest FIP is 3.36. That’s good. Luis Valdez and Craig Kimbrel figure to be in the bullpen mix next year as well, and they should provide cheap back-of-the-pen depth. In addition, we’ll likely re-sign one of Soriano and Gonzo. But keep in mind that teams with a “payroll ceiling” like us are usually not wise to invest large sums in the bullpen.
Thirdly, if we get rid of Chipper, who plays third? (Don’t say Infante). We likely won’t replace that production.
Lowe wouldn’t be a bad option to move, but it’s not happening. Pick your reason, but it ain’t happening. Besides, his peripherals suggest an ERA below 4.00, and in that case I doubt many (he says, only half joking) would be complaining.
just missed it
Norton’s up? Oh wait too late.
What a waste of a pinch hit batter. Great Job NORTON!!!
lol and they were scared of Norton …. the joke batter
These pretzels are making me thirsty.
Another great at bat by Norton-see Braves pitchers-what happens when you pitch INSIDE?
August 28th, 200910:40 pm
Norton on this team still amazes me…WOW
Bringing in a righty to face the Braves? Pretty bad, for them
Pathetic. Are there 2 worse pitchers that we can make look like Cy Young (Moyer and Park).
I’m guessing you’re Chop Chop, btw. I know you’re a regular, anyway. Why not use your real name?
Owned…. by Cy Park.
August 28th, 200910:41 pm
Norton had a good cut at the ball
Somewhere in Gwinnett, Brooks Conrad and his .345 average is wondering why he’s not on the team and Greg Norton and his .141 average is.
Can’t say I blame him.
Asians should NOT grow facial hair, Park is proof.
Jurjjens, I’m pretty sure someone will come along and tell you that the Braves hit lefties better than righties.
Greg Norton got to go
Infante is looking terrible
This is irritating. I want to break something.
.141, we can’t find a pinch hitter that can hit .142 or higher for cheap?
August 28th, 200910:42 pm
norton is conveniently useless… might as well have had oflarety bat for himself.
could be leading if the Braves kept a scouting report on Howard
Greg Norton’s gotta pad his stats too.
August 28th, 200910:43 pm
Oh goody, Omar Infante.
Meaning: an out or a single.
What’s this guy up to now? 2 whole homeruns and 7 XBHs?
Padres just fried the Fish. Too bad they can only beat the Braves and Fish. Sure would help if they played the Giants, Rox and Dodgers as tough.
I think Delta lost the Braves egg sac along with DOBs luggage.
August 28th, 200910:44 pm
Cliff Lee’s gotta be licking his chops to face us tomorrow.
Hey Bobby, put me in against Moyer. I have his fastball timed. OH, Oh, NO, they changed pitchers on me. Dammitt!! Hey Bobby, what do you think? Maybe I can get walked.
This means Hanson is going to get the lose, perfect.
DOB, I hope you can get some post-game quotes from Greg Norton about what it was like to have to face Chan Ho Park after he stood on deck and mentally prepared himself to face Jamie Moyer.
greg norton’s slugging % gotta be the worst in the league for someone with 50 or more ABs right?
(not counting pitchers obviously)
When McLouth comes back…why not leave Diaz in the lead-off spot. If it were me, I’d try something like this -
3. McLouth (where he had his most success in Pitt)
No More Bobby 2.
August 28th, 200910:45 pm
FU== you Bobby Cox. You are an absolute MORON.
Ibanez was actually out, shin came off the bag and Chipper had the tag on him, but that’s alright, no need to pay attention to details…
There are only about 220 NL position players that can outhit Norton. You think we could find a GM dumb enough to take him?
Time to get that ERA back up to where it’s accustomed to being for Moylan. If anyone is due to “fall back to earth” is Peter Moylan.
When you lose 9 series openers in a row, isn’t it time to start evaluating game preparation by Cox?
Retro night? That explains it!
Im going to be your worst nightmare…worse than Tim Lincecum..bwahhh bwaahhh
matty deeaz gotta have the worst arm for someone not named Juan Pierre
August 28th, 200910:46 pm
wonder why MLB.com, BSPN and all those crap sport media sites and channels never pay attention to the Braves… oh wait…. now i get it…
Wow, talk about a cheap hit. But you know what? It counts.
Ah, and to top it off, there’s the token Paul Lentz bash on Moylan, substantiated or not.
Prove it, Paul. What about his numbers suggest he’ll regress?
Ump missed that one..
Is Cox coming back in 2010? He has announced retirement or a contract extension from what I know yet.
Way to go for that one Loaf.
That’s a Buddy Landell to left.
Oh well, he was due to give up a run.
At least do it in a game we had no chance of winning anyway.
August 28th, 200910:47 pm
“He has announced retirement or a contract extension from what I know yet.”
FU== you Bobby Cox. You are an absolute MORON. No More Bobby 2 (original name, btw)
Please explain to me what Bobby has done.
Marteen listens to Bob Marley? Nice.
August 28th, 200910:48 pm
Wren needs to really look into getting 2 power bats next year. The Braves need fear in this lineup and Diaz/Anderson/Chipper and gang aren’t scaring a freakin fly. This is getting very hard to watch anymore. So depressing.
Stairs is 0 for his last 25 and yet he’s still out-hitting Norton by 60 points.
Matt Stairs looks older than my Dad-my Dad is 72
Sounds like Stairs is their Norton.
Please RETIRE!!.. Please we beg you Cox…RE-TI-RE!!…For the love of God.
The only reason why I watch this team is because I paid $110 to do so…
Norton did a wonderful job last season, let’s keep him next season. He deserves a 2 year extension.
Hey we lose another game 1.
August 28th, 200910:49 pm
Instead of trying to get things done for themselves, look like we’re back to relying on on other teams to lose to keep us in the race
Who would win a foot race between Chipper and Stairs?
Did Matt Stairs catch the Greg Norton virus?
Cox will never leave unless made to leave. Where else could he go to sit on the bench, pick his nose, eat like a hog, make stupid, stupid decisions, and look like a fool.
Phils felt sorry for Petey and hit Stairs who is 0 for July and August
August 28th, 200910:50 pm
Anyone else see Raul come off the base? The wonders of a DVR…
August 28th, 200910:51 pm
Thankfully Moylan is faster than Anderson
How many 8 or 9 inning comebacks do the Braves have compered to other teams? They have to be near the bottom of the league but that’s just a guess made in anger
like OMG this team stinks
they’re under performing their pythagorean record AGAIN this year
Sorry To Say But...
Yeah, I’m a regular Steve, But <strong Chop Chop? Nope, fraid not. I’m also afraid, respectfully, that you don’t have a crystal ball and don’t know what teams are going to conduct their business this offseason. I understand what you are saying, it makes sense, but to state something we disagree with as a metaphysical certainty is a bit much. Lot can happen in the next 2-5 months. That said, I’d sure like to hear other ideas, that’s is why I said this should be open for discussion, I didn’t say “Chipper should be trade”, or “Lowe should be traded”. I’d like to see just how other bloggers think we’re going to fix things because all I’ve read is trading Javy and I really don’t see how that is sufficient to address all our needs. Even if you bring up Heyward, that isn’t enough. Are we keeping Adam? I’d like to, I’d also like to keep Gonzo and Soriano too. So I’m open to hearing just how you and others would approach the offseason given that you have needs and your payroll isn’t likely to increase much, if at all?
. . . the pregnant lady . . .
Well, Moylan can’t always be perfect but hey, if the braves actaully scored more than 1 run against the phils they would have a chance. 1 run against this team ain’t gonna get it done most of the time. I mean Howard gets to bat at least 3 times most games so thats at least 3 runs right there the way he’s going against us.
They call that a “Norton”
Hey Joe Simpson, of course that wasn’t a Ric Flair to left. In this little league park a Ric Flair to left (or right) ends up in the hands of a milf in the cheap seats…Woooooooooooo
Ole Norty will turn it around, give it some time guys.
You too are a moron Jeffrey D. What have you been watching the last 4 years now?
This game is a bunch of mother f***ing bulls***.
F*** the Phillies. F*** Moyer and these stupid mf-ing umps and Ryan Howard’s cheap solo homerun.
This whole thing is a rip-off.
August 28th, 200910:52 pm
Roachy is a “power bat”…. does he count?
i still say play esco 2 steps deeper and place a py;lon out in left we havent had a left fielder all year anyways maybe if loaf stays in the dugout he can give us more of those proffesional at bats lol also thier stars hit home runs ours strike out and pop up theres the difference in first and byre bye season lol
August 28th, 200910:53 pm
Does Boog ever shut the phuck up! Holy sh**… breath fat boy, BREATH!
Oh boy, Madson…
Steve – Who do you think is Chop Chop? Apparently I’ve missed some stuff?
Anyone else wish they were Cardinals fans?
norton is 0 fer Season…
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
