I think the past two games have awoken Braves. Mainly the embarrassment probably ~_~
Diaz for cleanup!
Game is still too close. I want more!
I REALLY like Matty leading off!
Too late, already distracted.
Though, it does make me curious about ya.
tiem for Martin to get a sac clearing extra base hit
Matty D is my hero
Kate: what’s with all the egg sac talk tonight?”"
Kate, apparently the bags beneath Bobby’s eyes aren’t bags at all, but Bot-Fly egg sacs. Really sad…
August 27th, 20098:34 pm
Thats not really a question, Cali.
Georgia ahead 1-0 in the LLWS
moving on so soon? I’m wounded! I would add a crying emoticon if I knew how to make one…
August 27th, 20098:36 pm
A little bromance brewing between Matty and Huddy ???
I’m not moving on…just adding to our love triange…errrr square….errrr pentagon….whatever we’re at now.
Rob from SC
I understand we can’t score like this all the time, but why can’t we do it more often.
cabravesfan – poor girl – do you feel ignored?
August 27th, 20098:37 pm
I would add a crying emoticon if I knew how to make one…
Most people refer to that as a Mets logo
Wasn’t a question because it was an answer. Whoops.
I would like to see Carlyle pitch tonight. With the way things are going, he might get that chance.
Kurdt Kobain – I was answering a 8:29 post
August 27th, 20098:38 pm
almost the 1st GS
let’s see…well, Tom’s been away all summer so it’s currently at…a pentagon (i think )
(I’m sure my boy VJ will have something to say here in a minute )
Dang. No GS
Everybody clap your hands!
August 27th, 20098:39 pm
Now i have egg on my face.
Chipper sucks – easy pop out
Chipper can shut up everyone right here!
Have to give TG props there.
Holy smokes what a catch!
Kurdt Kobain – no worries, egg sac’s for everyone
August 27th, 20098:40 pm
You all can’t ignore me
That was a great catch by T. Gwynn, Jr. there
Wow… didn’t think he had a chance at that one.
Or TG can shut Chipper up…
think Tjr will need to check his eggsac
August 27th, 20098:41 pm
wow … that was a great catch that saved 3 runs …
dah nah nah … da nah nah (Sportscenter theme music)
Steve from OH
August 27th, 20098:42 pm
Great catch by Gwynn.
I wanna see them play “Everybody clap your hands” mid pitch with someone on base
Jurrjens listens to Lil’ Wayne ~_~
Kate (Katie) may not want any part of us, so, as of now, nothing for you to worry about.
Frak you Tony Gwinn Jr. Stole a 2B from Chipper right there, it would have blown this game wide open.
Looks like Chipper is “getting it” figured out tonight, he should be 3-3.
August 27th, 20098:43 pm
Really Jair? REALLY? LIL WAYNE? I lost a little respect for you…
August 27th, 20098:44 pm
I hope not…I kinda like being the only girl
not sure how I feel about joining the love pentagon yet, no offense
August 27th, 20098:45 pm
I was thinking Hernandez too….now the other?
Good to see Vazquez K Headley with a perfectly hearted chemistryball there.
August 27th, 20098:46 pm
I work on my own too.
I’ll go with Livan H. and Pettite as the answer to the trivia question.
i see you asked Kieth Law a Q on his chats
Yeah, I did. And I was embarrassed when he answered it because I accidentally put my email address rather than my location in the location box. I did it without thinking, repeating a habit from this ole blog. Hopefully I won’t get signed up for too much random sh!t.
August 27th, 20098:47 pm
I thought the smoke was coming off of Matty D.
heath – tmi
Wow. 6-0? Yay!
Wayne in Utah
August 27th, 20098:48 pm
This should be interesting? Braves lose two to lowly Padres, end of world as we know it is near! Braves score 6 runs in 3 innings, blog is quiet? For now…..
Me too little JJ, me too.
Gotta agree with CaliChopper there- we did not need to know that
August 27th, 20098:49 pm
You are screwed now, you know that, right?
August 27th, 20098:50 pm
Wayne in Utah – shhhh you will get them all eggcited
Tell It Like It Is
After watching Gwynn lay out for that catch, I am even more convinced that the Braves need to do the following:
1.Keep the pitching staff in place as much as possible. Fill any voids that may be created with departures. Do not exercise the $12 million on Hudson for one year with the questionable arm. Use the money elsewhere. Be smart and not sentimental.
2.Get a speedy centerfielder(remember Nixon,Lofton,Grissom,Garr, etc.) who can patrol the outfield gaps and put him in the lead off spot to steal bases with reckless abandon. Move McLouth to left and put him in the third spot in the batting order permanently. Put Heyward in right field and let him play and learn like all young players must do.
3. Find a young third baseman with some pop for an understudy for Chipper. Chipper cannot play everyday at his age.
4. Sign LaRoache for 2010 and make way for Freeman in 2011 if not sooner.
5. Put Prado at second permanently and hit him in the second spot
6. Fix McCann’s eye sight. He is misplaying too many balls behind the plate. Something is not right.
7.Keep Diaz,Infante,Conrad, Church, Anderson(maybe) in the utility roles and pinch hitting. Say bye bye to Norton.
8. Sign a super star if possible to help with the attendance. The team is very lacking in star appeal.
9.Get more spending capital from Liberty Mutual if possible
It IS what it IS.
August 27th, 20098:51 pm
Somebody is listening to my music? I didn’t want to let the word out, but it is true……I am Lil Wayne! I am a rappin’ fool!
Braves for 2010 and beyond
Players to build around:
C – McCann
3B – Jones
SS – Escobar
RF – Heyward
SP – Hanson
SP – Jurrjens
Players contracts who automatically make them apart of that core:
SP – Lowe
Players who are kind of close to that core, but not “untouchable”(including minor leaguers that are close):
CF – McLouth
CF – Schafer
2B – Prado
1B – Freeman
Players that can be used as trade pieces this winter:
SP – Vasquez
SP – Kawakami)
SP – Hudson(his option can be declined and his money can be used to sign a player(s)
2B – Johnson
Players who should be offered arbitration so that we can recoup draft picks to fortify a baron farm system that lacks impact positon players:
RP – Soriano
RP – Gonzalez
1B – Laroche
Minor leaguers to keep an eye on as trade chips or potential future Braves:
P – Hoover
P – Teheran
P – R. Delgado
P – Spruill
P – DeVall
P – Minor
P – Kimbrel
P – D. Delgado
LF – Milligan
LF – Johnson
I done fooled around ang got liquored-up.
I could hold the Padres record for strikeouts!
August 27th, 20098:52 pm
CaliChopper, you got me.
Clayton Richard? What was all my fuss about? Nine hits and six runs in 2 1/3 innings
Im still on the floor, those 2 Ls felt like 2 mike tysons jabs to my jaw. I hope we win but not in the mood for more disappointment by our guys.
If Hudson is pitching on monday, whats the word? 6 man rotation?
August 27th, 20098:53 pm
Nice hit, Esco.
Pettite, typo obviously.
Ah dang, BMac…well, that double is coming! I know it is!
I didn’t say nothin’…..sssshhhhhh…….
August 27th, 20098:54 pm
You don’t understand….
Never even thought of Buerhle either….Hernandez was way too easy.
Braves 2010 and beyond–not bad!
I’d say Prado is part of the core too, just because he’s it as far as our middle infield depth goes. I agree that I’d trade McLouth for the right package, but he’s a good player, and probably part of our core next year.
Why? The Georgia Tech spam filter is rather robust and my account goes through GMail as well, which also has a very good spam filter. I’ll probably be alright. It’s not like hundreds of thousands of people are checking a Keith Law chat to see who they can sign up for spam.
August 27th, 20098:55 pm
Buehrle is the sound I make while yapping-up groceries…
Okay the Padres D was amazing the first two games. I’m assuming this is the real Padres. In which case I can see why they suck
Sir Loafsalot got lucky there
August 27th, 20098:56 pm
LaRoche walking up in BIB? I love it!
Sorry…I have no idea what I’m saying right now. Kate got me discombobulated thinking of KB…
August 27th, 20098:57 pm
Some of you may appreciate this. Probably the smartest individual in minor league baseball.
August 27th, 20098:58 pm
OK, you called my bluff. I don’t anything to say, I just wanted to talk to someone pretty..
Braves for 2010
What are you gonna do about Diaz, Church, Infante, Medlen and Moylan? Did we miss any others?
GA sportin’ some speed there.
And Garret is absolutely giddy after that play.
wow, givin Chipper that egg seems to have made Loaf a step quicker
August 27th, 20098:59 pm
GA must be reading the Blog, got some bees in that slow butt….
coolest slide ive ever seen… hopped up like nothing happened…
August 27th, 20099:00 pm
Maybe Crawford is a good idea for the Braves to look into this winter. Everybody knows he’s a great leadoff hitter and a very good OF. Crawford/McLouth/Heyward is a very good OF. Resign LaRoche and hope he can have more 1st half power this time. Still love Vazquez back.
How does the weather look down there? Are we going to get a deluge later?
I’m kind of surprised that Hudson is going to get the start Monday, but I understand the rationale behind it. Gotta find out a little bit about where he is with his comeback. 12 million is a pretty penny to spend on a 34 year old coming off of Tommy John. I’ll say it again, trading Kawakami this winter gives this team the best chance to win in 2010. I won’t be heated if they deal Vazquez, because if they get blown away with a huge prospect package(or at least bigger than you’d expect for one year of Javy) or a proven bat, then it’ll be hard not to do it.
Wayne in Utah – What are you gonna do about Diaz, Church, Infante, Medlen and Moylan?
was wondering same thing, specialy Medlen, have to think he’s close to untouchable
August 27th, 20099:01 pm
Tell It Like It Is 6. Fix McCann’s eye sight. He is misplaying too many balls behind the plate. Something is not right.
Oh please, let’s not talk about that…that makes me really nervous!
No one else appreciates LaRoche walking up to BIB?
Yes! Keep Medlen!
August 27th, 20099:02 pm
Vasquez could pitch a shutout
Braves for 2010, nice breakdown. I agree with most all of that, especially the part about the lack of positional prospects in the Braves system.
I like LaRoche’s current walk-up music more than anyone else’s on the team.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
