Can we make up a definition for dractic? Some suggestions please.

Some of thos Braves fans on the AJC Blog are a bit dractic. Meaning they are not very knowledgeable about the subject at hand?

You just don’t forget how to hit, period, but your bat speed slows. Great hitters never experience these dractic declines, but of course you knew that.

What is the creepy thing living in your garden? Is it a spider? If it is, it’s probably a Writing Spider. They are normally yellow and black. You find them this time of year just before fall starts. They are big but are harmless. I have a big one in my yard and I like to go look at it. I think it’s kinda cool.

from his chat today it looks like he doesn’t think freeman will hit for power, therefore he won’t hit enough to be an above average first baseman.

and he thinks the only other real prospect the braves have other than heyward is teheran.

he also thinks heyward shoul dbe called up and service time is overrated.

I’m not sure. I found him again either the next day or two days later, fed him some juicy worms (LOVE feeding box turtles worms!), but haven’t seen him since. It’s very rare that we find turtles at our house. We’ve got some nice woods behind our house, but there’s no water real close to us. The day I found him was a wet, kinda muggy day–those are the kinds of days on which we’ve found turtles. But we’re lucky to find one a year. :(

I have some photos of him somewhere…I’ll look for ‘em so I cann post a couple on PhotoBucket and get the link on here.

Just realized I didn’t tell you how I got the head on him–”shift, option, J”. Our computer is a Mac, so I don’t know if that’s a “Mac thing” or not…but I was pretty proud of myself for finding that. After reading the late-night blogging about Rally McTurtle, I knew I had to come up with a “typie” that looked enough like a turtle to put next to my name.

It fits with my main theme as a Blogger, too, since most of my post center around BMac. I’ve always kind of compared him to a turtle in that he’s not the fastest guy out there (though I have seen some turtles that cann scoot!), and he always gives 100%. Turtles show a lot of fortitude.

AndyC

Yes. It is a three-inch, big-reared, black and yellow spider, and it is the biggest spider I have ever seen outside of a petshop. My sister found it while looking for a whiffle-ball she had hit into the garden. And she found it the hard way–came with about a foot from sticking her face in its web! Needless to say, we still haven’t found that ball…

Thanks for the name. Their webs are kinda cool with that zig-zag action, but good-golly are they big!! This isn’t the first one we’ve ever had, but it’s totally the biggest… 8O

Ah! That makes sense.

They better have no int’rest in coming in our house!! Oh my gosh…I know she’s gonna stay outside, but just the thought of that thing moving gives me the creeps. 8O

They are good spiders, only eat insects.

Yeah…we did see something one time that said she will eat a hummingbird if one gets stuck in her web–that’s not what the spiders are out there for, but it cann happen…not very often, though. (I’d Google it, but I don’t want to see any pictures of the spiders…)

The first time we ever had at our house was a few years ago–she made a web in the window of Mom and Dad’s master bedroom. We watched her grow (creepy as she got bigger, but educational). Then one day, when she was fairly large, this giant bee-thing got stuck in her web. The bee bit the spider and she shriveled up. We were pretty sad about that, I have to say.

(We had one of those bees kill a baby bird in the nest around that same time, too. They’re really mean.)

Our cousins had some Writing Spider egg-sacs a few years ago. Pretty sure they did hatch the next year…wow…tons of spiders. 8O

We’ve sent away for Praying Mantis egg sacs in the past. That is FUN to watch them hatch and then raise a couple of the Praying Mantises!

The Truth – Go away dude, there is no way Chipper has been tainted by drugs. Guy has virtually looked the same for the past 10+ years, never “bulked up” or “cut up”. His power is generated by bat speed and a combination of heavier bat.

Why is that some people will never stop with this sh*t. Chipper Jones has never failed a drug test, will never fail a drug test b/c he doesn’t use that stuff, never had to.

I guarantee if Chipper used ‘gear’ back in the day, with his frame of 6′4 he could have easily gotten up to 230-240lbs, and instead of hitting HR in the 30’s, he would have hit them in the 50’s as far as numbers.

Yes, I’m in my final years as a teenager (I’m gonna make it!). Actually, the only baseball I play is in the backyard…but obviously if I did play any organized baseball (well, guess it’d have to be softball), obviously I’d want to at least try out at catcher (think I’ve got the bat for it if I’m not going for the whole BMac, Mauer, Bench effect, LOL). Don’t know how my D would be…

But yeah, I’m liking the choice I made for favorite. It’s funny ’cause when he first came up (mind you I was just starting to really get into the whole baseball thing) I wasn’t a huge fan. But as the season progressed, I started to develop a liking for him. LOVED that homer off Roger Clemens!

Then Ms. Rogers wrote a story about him that was in the paper on March 5th, 2006. I read that, and I was like, “I like this guy…he’s seems like a good person and should be a good player.” Franco was gone to the Mets, so hey, how ’bout BMac for a fave? And we all know how his 2006 season went! :D

Now I’m all over his stats and everything…and I’m calling dibs on writing his baseball-ography someday!

The reason it made my jaw drop is because I watch the games…I know he get an at-bat ALMOST every night.

What made my jaw drop is Matt Stairs is an awesome pinch hitter on a good team and has tons of pop.

Greg Norton has done absolutely nothing expect one big hit for an RBI late in the game that we held on for a 4-3 win last month.

How this man’s pay-cheques have Atlanta Braves on them is beyond the rhelm of understanding.

Braves are running out of time. Every time it appears they are making headway, they lose ground again. This is simply a mediocre team from players to management.
