Maxwell- you are truly living up to your name. I had no idea. Way before my time (no offense if you’re an old-timer).
Can we make up a definition for dractic? Some suggestions please.
Some of thos Braves fans on the AJC Blog are a bit dractic. Meaning they are not very knowledgeable about the subject at hand?
I thought you were referring to a Norton at bat when I first read your post.
That would fit there, haha. Though that’s not my position on Greg Norton.
I’m just “and idiot” I guess
He’s got his legs inside his shell right now, though–he’s sad about last night’s loss.
Poor little guy, it has been a depressing few days.
Gullable (adj) – 1. Able to be turned into a gull. When I went to the ocean on Tuesday, a magical gull bit me. I am now gullable.
August 27th, 20096:49 pm
It is easy to be SMART when you have http://www.google.com.
You just don’t forget how to hit, period, but your bat speed slows. Great hitters never experience these dractic declines, but of course you knew that.

It’s been I tough week. College started back and I am taking 6 classes, and now my boy Heyward is hurting. He needs a little rest before he takes down the AFL Tommy Hanson style.
What is the creepy thing living in your garden? Is it a spider? If it is, it’s probably a Writing Spider. They are normally yellow and black. You find them this time of year just before fall starts. They are big but are harmless. I have a big one in my yard and I like to go look at it. I think it’s kinda cool.
Keith Law usually sucks, but...
August 27th, 20096:51 pm
from his chat today it looks like he doesn’t think freeman will hit for power, therefore he won’t hit enough to be an above average first baseman.
and he thinks the only other real prospect the braves have other than heyward is teheran.
he also thinks heyward shoul dbe called up and service time is overrated.
The Truth: And Shamus, your a piece of s^&*.
Shoot, thanks Truth. That’s the next kindest compliment I’ve received today. Your and idiot, being first… I feel so appreciated….
Things keep going like this I’ll consider a political career…
Truth – And Shamnus, your a piece of s^&*.
Truth is, it’s “you’re” or “you are”, not “your”…practice what you preach, dude.
August 27th, 20096:52 pm
Been a Braves fan since they whuped the Damnyankees in the World Serious. In them days they put a TV in the school auditorium and we could all go in and watch if’un we’d been good boy’s and girls! Guess they figured if they din’t we’d cut school and watch or listen on radio anyhow! and they don’t teach too much in public schools anywhere anymore!
Chocolate Milk anyone
…I have lots
August 27th, 20096:53 pm
Any update on game start time?
And Shamus, I would probably vote for you, too. Anyway, it’s past time for Cox and TP to go…in my humble opinion.
August 27th, 20096:54 pm
You caught my spelling error! No spell check on the AJC blog. Funny though.
Is there something with your and idiot that I don’t know about?
That’s not what he said. Someone suggested that the Braves will have nothing left after Heyward gets called up. Law used Teheran as an example to disprove his point. Not to suggest that Teheran is the only legit prospect apart from Heyward.
August 27th, 20096:56 pm
Thanks! Yeah, poor guy just doesn’t get much help.
CrimeDog, jeffrey d, faninva–
Thanks! He has received some grief in the past, but I think that was mostly just teasing on the part of the people dishing it out…
I’m not sure. I found him again either the next day or two days later, fed him some juicy worms (LOVE feeding box turtles worms!), but haven’t seen him since. It’s very rare that we find turtles at our house. We’ve got some nice woods behind our house, but there’s no water real close to us. The day I found him was a wet, kinda muggy day–those are the kinds of days on which we’ve found turtles. But we’re lucky to find one a year.
I have some photos of him somewhere…I’ll look for ‘em so I cann post a couple on PhotoBucket and get the link on here.
Just realized I didn’t tell you how I got the head on him–”shift, option, J”. Our computer is a Mac, so I don’t know if that’s a “Mac thing” or not…but I was pretty proud of myself for finding that. After reading the late-night blogging about Rally McTurtle, I knew I had to come up with a “typie” that looked enough like a turtle to put next to my name.
It fits with my main theme as a Blogger, too, since most of my post center around BMac. I’ve always kind of compared him to a turtle in that he’s not the fastest guy out there (though I have seen some turtles that cann scoot!), and he always gives 100%. Turtles show a lot of fortitude.
Yes. It is a three-inch, big-reared, black and yellow spider, and it is the biggest spider I have ever seen outside of a petshop. My sister found it while looking for a whiffle-ball she had hit into the garden. And she found it the hard way–came with about a foot from sticking her face in its web! Needless to say, we still haven’t found that ball…
Thanks for the name. Their webs are kinda cool with that zig-zag action, but good-golly are they big!! This isn’t the first one we’ve ever had, but it’s totally the biggest…
It’s been brought up a few times on here how everyone always seems to misspell “you’re an idiot” by saying “you’re and idiot” instead.
Well just because he isnt earning his money right now doesnt mean he was on roids……..
I agree we gave him alot for the next 3 years, for a 37 yr old with lingering injury issues.
I’m gonna keep using YOUR cause i really dont care if its proper because i have somthing called COMMON SENSE and know what the word means regardless.
I admit you definitly know more about the game than me being a braves fan for 40+ years and thats great, but to say Chipper is roiding cause of a slump is wrong.
I’m gonna defend my favorite player of all time, Chipper is why i became i braves fan when i was a little kid, i cant help but to say hell no to someone mentioning Chipper and Roids together lol
Nova Scotia Steve

Almost game time…LaRoche girls where ya at…
August 27th, 20096:59 pm
So to answer your question Maxwell, it’s a bit of an inside joke that keeps on giving
August 27th, 20097:00 pm
They just said first pitch would be around 7:30
What’s this “us” and “our” and “we” stuff? You hooked up?
August 27th, 20097:01 pm
VA Fan, thanks for being a true fan and supporting your player. You have an admirable trait of loyalty, and although we may disagree, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. We both want the Braves to win…come here and let me give you a big, old hug.
Yeah, it has. He hopes to be able to come out tonight…and that BMac will have a much better time behind the plate.
Hey y’all! To save time, when showering me with compliments by anointing me a “piece of s__t,” or “idiot,” shoot, just combine the two…
Shidiot suits me fine… Thanks again for the love….
dogsbrekky (Hurricane means big waves woohoo)
August 27th, 20097:02 pm
Hudson back Monday, oh the great karma I feel lord.
Go Braves, let’s start a 20-2 run tonight (with one of the 20 wins please)
August 27th, 20097:03 pm
That’s why they are called Writing Spiders, because of the zig zag designs in the webs. They are good spiders, only eat insects. They have no interest in coming into your house. They are garden spiders. The big ones are the females. You will soon see a big egg sack on the web that contains a bunch of baby spiders.
August 27th, 20097:04 pm
Panic move to rush Huddy back. I hope he’ll be OK.
The “us” and “our” and “we” stuff is referring to me and my family–Mom, Dad, Big Brother, Little Sister and me.
Steve from OH
August 27th, 20097:05 pm
Big Brother? He’s here? Watching us?
August 27th, 20097:06 pm
Shamus, I’m sorry. You’re a good person and I would be proud to vote for you. Thanks for you good sense of humor.
Showin’ us the knowledge…well done.
Its all good man lol i’m surprised know one else jumped in on your comments lol everyone is entilted to a opinion and we all just want the Braves to win
August 27th, 20097:07 pm
Shidiot – I like it. You don’t have to censor it.
That rain looks pretty dractic
You must be a teenager, from what I can determine. I think you have made a wonderful choice of Brian McCann to be a big fan of. He is a top notch young man, and maybe someday you can play some baseball with him? What position do you play?
My 12 year old son wants to be a shortstop, but he has his dad’s clumsiness to a degree. But he loves the Braves too!
August 27th, 20097:08 pm
Steve from OH: Big Brother? He’s here? Watching us?
Yikes! Everybody needs to log off quickly! Steve – very funny!
Maxwell–are you really new here?
August 27th, 20097:09 pm
B-Mac Spotlight is on.
August 27th, 20097:10 pm
Jeffery, you are THE MAN. Not only is the rain pretty dractic, but it’s coming down like Katts and Dawgs, too. Thanks for your sense of humor.
Thanks Truth, same here bud…
Props to you for giving me props about the spider info.
Looks like “The Truth” is really coming around
Too bad he still can’t spell my name right
August 27th, 20097:11 pm
That was pretty funny Jeff D
August 27th, 20097:12 pm
Steve from OH
Actually, I am very old!
August 27th, 20097:13 pm
AndyC That’s why they are called Writing Spiders, because of the zig zag designs in the webs.
Ah! That makes sense.
They better have no int’rest in coming in our house!! Oh my gosh…I know she’s gonna stay outside, but just the thought of that thing moving gives me the creeps.
They are good spiders, only eat insects.
Yeah…we did see something one time that said she will eat a hummingbird if one gets stuck in her web–that’s not what the spiders are out there for, but it cann happen…not very often, though. (I’d Google it, but I don’t want to see any pictures of the spiders…)
The first time we ever had at our house was a few years ago–she made a web in the window of Mom and Dad’s master bedroom. We watched her grow (creepy as she got bigger, but educational). Then one day, when she was fairly large, this giant bee-thing got stuck in her web. The bee bit the spider and she shriveled up. We were pretty sad about that, I have to say.
(We had one of those bees kill a baby bird in the nest around that same time, too. They’re really mean.)
Our cousins had some Writing Spider egg-sacs a few years ago. Pretty sure they did hatch the next year…wow…tons of spiders.
We’ve sent away for Praying Mantis egg sacs in the past. That is FUN to watch them hatch and then raise a couple of the Praying Mantises!
Jeffery, I was only using the dractic form of spelling…………….Have a great evening and let’s hope the Braves can win.
Just trying to embiggen my vocabulary, Nova Scotia Steve.
Which reminds me…hope the Braves don’t play like a bunch of wooses tonight.
Tony was clipped. David Chase didn’t want to completely close the door, but you know he had to be burnt out.
Just a question… has anyone seen The Truth and Lentz together anywhere or could they be the same person?
Funny stuff Jeffrey d
So, has the world ended for everyone on the ole blog yet?
August 27th, 20097:15 pm
The Truth is on fire! you were in a slump for a while lol
McFann, you’ve been dying to use that in a sentence, haven’t you? LOL.
I literally saw locusts and burning sulfur raining down on here last night. Literally.
August 27th, 20097:17 pm
So, has the world ended for everyone on the ole blog yet? – Heath
No not yet Heath. My boys are up against the mighty California team tonight in the LLWS semis. Everyone says California is unbeatable…..even though Texas beat ‘em.
I have never heard of sending away for Praying Mantis egg sacs. That sounds kinda cool!
i see you asked Kieth Law a Q on his chats
August 27th, 20097:18 pm
Frankie Knuckles -
ya, i agree. Tony was clipped. Can’t listen that Journey song without thinking of that final episode. At the time, I hated the ending. Guess I’ve come to appreciate it a bit, I guess.
August 27th, 20097:19 pm
Heath – So, has the world ended for everyone on the ole blog yet?
Depends, are you BBQing?
They are signing the National Anthem. That is a good sign. Let’s hope the Braves prevail.
Maxwell Smart – “would you believe chief, missed it by that much”
your and idiot is a long standing joke about someone’s poor grammar from a while back, it is used quite often now by those in the know
August 27th, 20097:20 pm
Two words you wouldn’t expect to see on this blog. Yet it’s mentioned three times on this page alone.
Charlie Morton pitching for the Bucs so I can kill some time before I have to drive back to the country… mlb.tv has its strengths afterall
August 27th, 20097:21 pm
funny stuff again Jeffrey d
greg norton sucks
jeffrey d – LOL. ah, you’re on roll.
They are signing the National Anthem. That is a good sign. Let’s hope the Braves prevail.
Must be a lot of hearing impaired persons in the crowd tonight.
Heath – some people are still leaving until next year – for the tenth time this week
August 27th, 20097:22 pm
The Truth – Go away dude, there is no way Chipper has been tainted by drugs. Guy has virtually looked the same for the past 10+ years, never “bulked up” or “cut up”. His power is generated by bat speed and a combination of heavier bat.
Why is that some people will never stop with this sh*t. Chipper Jones has never failed a drug test, will never fail a drug test b/c he doesn’t use that stuff, never had to.
I guarantee if Chipper used ‘gear’ back in the day, with his frame of 6′4 he could have easily gotten up to 230-240lbs, and instead of hitting HR in the 30’s, he would have hit them in the 50’s as far as numbers.
That right there is your freaking proof.
Chipper Jones – Drug Free Player.
DEAL WITH IT “The Truth”.
Just damn, sounds like you want him to be “guilty of it”?
August 27th, 20097:23 pm
Thank you for the information. If I am referred to as “your and idiot” then should I be offended, or is that a good thing?
You must live out near the coast? I hope the hurricane doesn’t harm you in any way.

August 27th, 2009
What do you ‘need’ to hear?
Dangit! Really? I gotta steal the remote…
Yes, I’m in my final years as a teenager (I’m gonna make it!). Actually, the only baseball I play is in the backyard…but obviously if I did play any organized baseball (well, guess it’d have to be softball), obviously I’d want to at least try out at catcher (think I’ve got the bat for it if I’m not going for the whole BMac, Mauer, Bench effect, LOL). Don’t know how my D would be…
But yeah, I’m liking the choice I made for favorite. It’s funny ’cause when he first came up (mind you I was just starting to really get into the whole baseball thing) I wasn’t a huge fan. But as the season progressed, I started to develop a liking for him. LOVED that homer off Roger Clemens!
Then Ms. Rogers wrote a story about him that was in the paper on March 5th, 2006. I read that, and I was like, “I like this guy…he’s seems like a good person and should be a good player.” Franco was gone to the Mets, so hey, how ’bout BMac for a fave? And we all know how his 2006 season went!
Now I’m all over his stats and everything…and I’m calling dibs on writing his baseball-ography someday!
My 12 year old son wants to be a shortstop, but he has his dad’s clumsiness to a degree.
Saw a stat today that kind of made my jaw drop…Greg Norton lead the National League in pinch hits AB’s this season…more than 10 more then Matt Stairs.
The reason it made my jaw drop is because I watch the games…I know he get an at-bat ALMOST every night.
What made my jaw drop is Matt Stairs is an awesome pinch hitter on a good team and has tons of pop.
Greg Norton has done absolutely nothing expect one big hit for an RBI late in the game that we held on for a 4-3 win last month.
How this man’s pay-cheques have Atlanta Braves on them is beyond the rhelm of understanding.
- egg sac -
August 27th, 20097:25 pm
Oh, and Buck Belue said it right on 680thefan earlier today…
EOF should SHUT his pie hole.
Chipper Jones is the one that should make statements, Brian McCann too. That’s about it.
I don’t care if Chipper goes 1-30, he’s still a VETERAN voice/leader on this team and will be here long after EOF is gone and forgotten by Braves Fans.
Norton has 75 pinch hit AB’s this season
I can believe it. I ask only because I don’t want to go back and wade through all the “the end is near” posts.
Braves are running out of time. Every time it appears they are making headway, they lose ground again. This is simply a mediocre team from players to management. They are not good enough to go on an extended streak. They have 3 teams to pass for the wild card aside from the 5 1/2 games deficit. It is not going to happen.
August 27th, 20097:26 pm
Mrs. Phillips: greg norton sucks”"
Like an F-5 filled with Hoovers…
“Garrett Anderson ran the bases like he had an Egg Sac on his back”
Heath – well if you aren’t then yeah its ended….
August 27th, 20097:27 pm
Haha! Oh, of course…
It’s a lot of fun…think we’ve only ever gotten one that didn’t hatch. To be safe, we usually order two. And if they both hatch, all the better!
We got them from…”Insectlore.com”.
Too late! They showed bits of the Spotlight but game time now.
I don’t follow that closely…is the world tournament that the Ripken’s just hosted different from the game (tournament) that is on tonight? Were they different and still running concurrently?
August 27th, 20097:28 pm
I’m lonely. :poke:
maxwell smart – we are on the eastern end of Long Island, Quogue, and half the beach and 3/4 of the dunes were washed away by an earlier storm but there is a chance Saturday morning that the end of a type 1 (weanie) Hurricane will hit…. should be good for some “tasty waves” on Sunday… just hope everyone is okay further down the island as there is not a lot of protection in built up areas..
BTW – Your moniker is my favorite tv character ever, used to watch him every day after school downunder… they still play the show there to this day
That’s not a beer belly on Bobby, it’s a big-ol’ egg sac..
August 27th, 2009
Before I answer… I forgot to ask, did you ‘want’ the world to end?
August 27th, 20097:29 pm
Arg!! Too late for Spotlight.
I’m gonna see that in it’s entirety one of these days…I’m not kidding!
Did someone say egg sac?
You,never,Blobby not a bad idea!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
