If we can get Cheech to come back, we can put on one of our best acts for your mom…good old uncle pervy.
Come on in Dan Kolbs’ mom and take off your clothes, i mean your coat…
August 27th, 20096:03 pm
Great are the days of Glavine, Smoltz, Maddox and Avery.
Thomas: The pitching staff is good but they are not great.”"
I’d almost have to disagree with that. Our starting staff (specially with Huddy back) relative to other staffs, is pretty dang close to great…
I’ve been wondering why they have been acting strange since that breakfast. That was a funny one, Mr. Thacher.
August 27th, 20096:05 pm
WHY, IN THE NAME OF HANK AARON OR ANY OTHER EMINENCE YOU MAY CHOOSE, DOES BOBBY COX PIT/CH KK, OR LEAVE HIM IN AFTER TWO LONG BALLS ,GIVEN THE EXPERIENCE WITH KK SO FAR THIS YEAR? THIS IS SHEER STUPIDITY AND STUPIDITY OF THIS SORT IS WHY THE BRAVES HAVE NO CHANCE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A CHANCE. HOLY COW!!!!!!
I hope the boys can stay afloat a few more days. I’m thinking that bringing up some younger guys will give them a shot in the arm on Sept 1. I just hope it’s not too late by then. Next week will most likely tell the story with the back to back series against the Phillies and Marlins.
August 27th, 20096:06 pm
Shamus Thacker- Just read the first few comments on the blog before skipping to the end and I must say, the “I’m and idiot” cracks me up every time.
Who is this Paul Lentz? Is that his real name? I don’t know if I would come on here with my real name, especially after reading some of these folks posts.
August 27th, 20096:07 pm
Are you mad about something?
Chong: Come on in Dan Kolbs’ mom and take off your clothes, i mean your coat…”"
Now Chong, you know she’s got on summa them big ol’ old-lady drawers. We don’t wanna see that, now do we?
How long you been out?
If a Braves-Padres game is rained out, and nobody is there to see it, does it make a sound?
August 27th, 20096:08 pm
You are completely right. We’ve never had a shot. Wait, who was the manager when we won all those consecutive division titles? Why can’t we bring him back? Oh wait, IT’S THE SAME GUY!!! I CANT CONTROL MY CAPS LOCK!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!
Hey Maxwell, they named an atom bomb after me, but named a coffee after you…so I guess you right. Peace.
John – if you’re going to complain about Bobby Cox,
1) At least know what you’re talking about. Bobby pulled KK at almost the first sign of trouble last night (and after allowing ZERO homeruns)
2) Don’t do it in all caps
August 27th, 20096:09 pm
hey its not over yet guys!! This team can get hot again, Chipper will break out of this slump and have a good last month, Huddy is coming back, McLouth will be back and we can still finish strong and make a push for the WC
We were playing great ball and only gained like 1 gm or somthing in the big stretch, cause the teams ahead of us wernt losing.
Lets see how the Braves look after the Phillies series before we call it quits, i’m fustrated just as much as yall but this team can finish strong
And I thought Maxwell Smart was a clever name. Not sure I would have picked that one Mr. Pants.
Thanks. KK’s gotten a real bum-rap with the lack of run support. And yeah, he’s gone up against a lot of #1’s and pitched very well.
August 27th, 20096:10 pm
Maxwell – you’ll see Paul Lentz. I’ll let you form your own opinion. Right now he’s probably working on his latest post. Should be ready in an hour or two.
Crime Dog- I make a sound. It goes like this: “We’re just putting off the inevitable of being statistically eliminated from the playoffs”
August 27th, 20096:11 pm
Maybe I should change my AJC Blog name to Maxwell House Smart? I think I can change it can’t I?
VA Braves Fan, sure Chipper will break out when MLB allows roids. And how long does it take to work again? He’s done!
Here’s a reasoned indictment of Bobby Cox for the more mild mannered Cox bashers.
I hope Wren does the right thing this winter…
August 27th, 20096:12 pm
Paul started with random CAPITALIZATION and then shifted to “putting quotes” around random words. Finally, he has graduated to inserting a hyphen into “PLAY-OFFS.” I wonder what’s next! The suspense…
He’s also gone up against some #4s and dropped some #2s.
Thank you Jeffrey! I will look forward to reading this Paul’s remarks. I think?
August 27th, 20096:13 pm
Maxwell- If you can name the movie my name came from you get a Braves rainout as a prize
August 27th, 20096:14 pm
haha, I remember that. He reminded me of Joey from Friends, when he didn’t know how to correctly use air quotes
August 27th, 20096:15 pm
I know the movie…can I name it??
Mr. Maxwell House Smart…because you deserve all the respect and dignity. What do you think of our self-admitted genius, Bobby Cox? Peace.
I am guessing you like Brian McCann? What is that O at the end of your name and how did you get that little squiggly line above it?
I watched “Friends” a few times. I never did like that show.
August 27th, 20096:16 pm
Nah, I’ll let Maxwell
Your nuts to think Chipper used roids, his numbers are nothing like the known roid users. here you think just because Chipper is in a longer than usual slump that he got off the roids is why. thats ignorant man.
August 27th, 20096:18 pm

Chong: Come on in Dan Kolbs’ mom and take off your clothes, i mean your coat…””
Now Chong, you know she’s got on summa them big ol’ old-lady drawers. We don’t wanna see that, now do we?
I’m betting on Depends…especially after watching danny boy pitch in atlanta
The ONE and ONLY reason we have games like last night?…Chief Nocahoma isnt here anymore!
August 27th, 20096:19 pm
Wasn’t that something that Walt Disney did to try to spoof WWII?
August 27th, 20096:20 pm
Truth, give us a break….Chipper never significantly bulked up, his head didnt grow a couple sizes, etc. like Giambi, Bonds and McGwire, et al. Nice try.
I think you’re on to something there.
First of all, it’s “you’re” or “you are” not your. Second, Chipper’s pattern is a mirror image of Manny, Big Papi, A-Fraud, Sosa, and all the other cheating players. Anything to gain an advantage and score a huge paycheck.
August 27th, 20096:21 pm
McFann, your KK post from previous page is spot-on. Guy’s been solid.
August 27th, 20096:22 pm
Me either. I love some Seinfeld, though.
August 27th, 20096:23 pm
Maxwell- It’s from Ace Ventura, When Nature Calls. Probably one of the most underrated comedies of all time.
The maddening thing about this team is that they could get swept here against the Pads, then go to Philly and wake up and sweep the Phils. Then we’ll start believing again, then the Nats will come in and, well, you know….
Actually, I have never heard of Bobby Cox referring to himself as a genius. I take it you don’t care for our manager, as I suspect many here don’t. I can understand that some folks think he should have won more World Series in the 1990’s. I lean that way myself.
But, I am inclined to think he is a very good manager. I don’t recall hearing anything said by real baseball people that he is anything but a very good manager. His players seem to love him and he seems to get a lot out of his players.
He might be getting close to retiring? I haven’t heard for sure though.
August 27th, 20096:25 pm
LMAO the same pattern of those guys my A$$……. Chipper has 1 (ONE) 40 homer season the rest of them have 5 or more
Chipper is a singles hitter, Chipper didnt win a batting title last year by hitting homers
Here come the Rox……AGAIN!
Jack Daniel and I have decided to celebrate Friday a day early, after celebrating two days early yesterday…
August 27th, 20096:26 pm
McFann – On the nose with your KK posts
next wave of rain has hit. I’d be shocked if we start on time.
If you get a chance, go check out this web link.
August 27th, 20096:27 pm
Maxwell I am guessing you like Brian McCann?
How’d you know?
That “O” is a turtle…It’s a bit of an involved story, but I found a turtle in the evening os July 8, 2008. The Braves were out West playing the Dodgers that night, so with nothing else going on until 10, I typed up a little 1 paragraph story about the turtle and posted it on the Blog (turned out to be a hit…even DOB liked it! ).
The game started out rather boring, I believe, and after I had already gone to bed, the Braves were needing some runs. One Blogger, Uga-brave, bored with the game, mentioned my turtle. The Braves had a rally. They won the game 9-3 (and BMac hit 2 HR), and people began to call my turtle “Rally McTurtle”.
He’s got his legs inside his shell right now, though–he’s sad about last night’s loss.
August 27th, 20096:28 pm
Rockies still down 3-2 in 9th.
The Truth: First of all, it’s “you’re” or “you are” not your.”"
Truth, your and idiot.
Broxton = proof any fat man can don a uni and pitch in the bigs.
Always wondered about that but never thought to ask. I like it though.
August 27th, 20096:29 pm
I didn’t know the rally turtle had a story! That’s good stuff
VaBraveFan – well put re. Chipper. Man, it hurts me to watch right now but he did put some good swings on the ball last night. I think he’s about ready to break out.
Chop Chop – you have good taste re. Friends – worst TV show in history. Well, that and the last 5 seasons of Happy Days – Jump the Shark!
Madre Padre – and what sport do you fall back on when the Chargers suck as bad as the Padres… oh wait you have none, just sol
August 27th, 20096:30 pm
Yeah baby, pizza just arrived! Say goodbye to the munchies.
Nova Scotia Steve
Dodgers Win…4 back if we win
IT IS NOT OVER
LA wins 3-2
I love L.A!! lets get us a win tonight boys!!!!!
Dodgers win….we’ll lose fer sure now.
August 27th, 20096:31 pm
Far from it
MLB Trade Rumors said Braves would be a surprising candidate to claim Rich Harden.
August 27th, 20096:32 pm
See if this gets you Altanta fans going…
Some of my best work…and I LOVE LA
Have fun and make sport of me, but just wait until the rest of the names are released from the list of 104 roid users. Larry Jones will be among them as well as several pitchers you have held in esteem. You forget that he did hit with power, as late as 2007. You just don’t forget how to hit, period, but your bat speed slows. Great hitters never experience these dractic declines, but of course you knew that.
That’s an interesting story. Whatever happened to the real turtle that Rally McTurtle was fashioned after?
August 27th, 20096:33 pm
Oh no! The battery is dying on my iphone! i wont be able to go back and see if everyone got their urgency on. i didnt have time to stop and get mine, better get downstairs to the emUrgency room and see if they’ll hook me up before ballgame! time.
Thanks for the props everyone, i didnt go back and read but i know i got some!
4 1/2 games back if we win, not 4
August 27th, 20096:34 pm
Check the loss column dude…4 games…we have a game in hand on Colorado
August 27th, 20096:35 pm
Frank Drebin outta no-where
The Truth – First of all, it’s drastic. Not dractic.
Second, shut up.
And Shamnus, your a piece of s^&*.
The rockies dropped 2 of 3 to the dodgers.
Marlins won 2 of 3.
SF has won 2 against D’backs (so far).
I’d say if we win tonight, there hasnt been too much change in the WC picture. (Ofcourse we got hammered by SD) but still…
Pleeease rain this one out! I’m not over the last two yet.
“A must win situation”.
August 27th, 20096:38 pm
What’s our record in must-wins since ‘95?
August 27th, 20096:39 pm
Jeffery, why don’t you look up the definition of dractic…maybe it would increase your vocabulary.
Steve from OH
Yeah, Friends was never my favorite, either. I much prefer Scrubs or some old Arrested Development.
Will the game start on time tonight?
August 27th, 20096:40 pm
Hey, “Season’s Over” folks…. don’t you get it— ANYTHING can happen between now and the end of the season, anything. I’ll just keep watching, knowing that, while the rest of you give yourselves strokes over something you have absolutely no control over.
Dude Chipper isnt 28 anymore……… he has a ton of lingering minor injuries as well being 37 years old, and not to mention every great hitter goes threw slumps. Your just being ignorant, you wouldnt say anything about Chipper and roids if the Braves were winning and Chipper was still struggling. Your just trying to pin the teams stuggles on our Slumping Star by saying he is off the roids.
Are you a Mets fan??? cause if your a Braves fan you dont deserve to be one
August 27th, 20096:41 pm
Some people don’t like Scrubs. I am not one of those people. I think it’s hilarious.
August 27th, 20096:42 pm
I prefer the old reruns of Law & Order to all these new shows. All those shows with sexual innuendos are also not very interesting. Friends and Seinfeld come to mind. I don’t allow my kids to watch those shows.
Frank Drebin: “Pete…
Check the loss column dude…4 games…we have a game in hand on Colorado”
Dude, check your math ok it will be 4 1/2 games if you want me to explain, let me know
August 27th, 20096:43 pm
Scrubs is brilliant.
August 27th, 2009
Some people don’t like Scrubs. I am not one of those people. I think it’s hilarious
I thought you were referring to a Norton at bat when I first read your post.
August 27th, 20096:44 pm
He didn’t say that the word “dractic” exists. However, if we type dractic enough, Google will link to this page whenever dractic is typed. That would be a dractic change to the English language. It’s the kind of dractic measure we need.
Dractic dractic dractic.
Wren should offer Bobby a contract for next year, but only if he agrees to wear that big ol’ mega-humongous “Rally The Brave” baseball noggin during games…
August 27th, 20096:45 pm
Wow…a word so rare only one person knows it. And we’re so lucky to have that genius on the blog
Steve from Ohio
That was very funny. You had me going for a moment there. I am thinking, well, I need to add a new word to my vocabulary.
I guess I am a bit gullable, OK.
The Lie(off ballenced Truth) – You must have lost your mind also. 1 names won’t be released .2 chipper has had the same build and stats since he started playing, no toothpick to over grown like Bonds or Big Mac. 3 if you want to pick a Brave you should be thinking Sheffield or Javy. Chipper? nah no chance
August 27th, 20096:46 pm
VA Brave, I’m a 40+ year Braves fan, and it’s “you’re” not your. Don’t they teach that in public schools in Virginia? I appreciate your comments about his age; however, is he not being paid to perform now, not just on his past laurels? Why do the Braves have to reward last years’ performance with today’s dollars? And, hasn’t he been reward very generously, excessively, over the past years?
Just filling out my scorecard. Ever notice that other managers, unless someone gets hurt or goes stone cold leave their lineups pretty much alone day after say. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Cox juggles ballplayers when the wind changes. Or,if everything is running smooth, jump in the middle a screw it all up! If anyones at the game near the Braves dugout please scream this at Blobby for me. Bat LaRo 4th and BMac 5th you dumb knocker!
wish “The Sopranos” would come back. But then again, I think Tony was wacked.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
