yes brandon it is…….just got a really good idea. on this blog we should talk about the Atlanta Braves baseball season….what you all think?
August 28th, 200912:50 am
Lol. Ok. I’m caught up. Lets all sleep tight…
So who here is for a six-man rotation? That would be different. I’ll be surprised if it happens regularly, but it might actually help.
Just give in to playoff-mania, No More Bobby. Let it consume you.
Brandon from Warner Robins
Yo Tiger. I missed your round at the Barclays, I was in statistics and Economics. What did you shoot?
August 28th, 200912:51 am
on this blog we should talk about the Atlanta Braves baseball season….what you all think?
The Atlanta Whats?
August 28th, 200912:52 am
I have a confession… I have a huge man crush on Matt Ryan.
I’m 1 under. Only five off the lead. Hope you can watch me tomorrow, I’m gonna do something special for all golf fans.
By the by, whoever predicted that Cliff Lee was going to twirl a no-hitter against the Bravos this weekend is right on target. Maybe Matt Diaz will ruin it with a gork to the short RF line.
August 28th, 200912:53 am
That’s my guy right there. Love him.
August 28th, 200912:54 am
And thats why he was (ahem) “banned”….right AJC? DOB? right (SOONER)
you really can’t successfully ban an individual from a board like this, all you can do is block an IP address. There are any number of ways around that and it would be foolish wasting time banning every new one used.
Tiger, I’ll be watching. Put on a show!
Kurdt, MATTY ICE MVP!!!!
I have a huge man crush on Nate McLouth.
DISCUSSION: Should Nate move back to the 4th, or 5th spot now that we have 4 legit leadoff candidates?
I don’t want a six man rotation. That means guys like JJ, Vasquez and Tommy don’t get as many starts. Doesn’t sound like something that would benefit us all that much……..Kurdt, you aren’t the real Kurt Kobain? I had no idea. shocked.
August 28th, 200912:56 am
Jurrjens4NLCY – 4?
Naw. I am good. “C U L8R” (Just thought I let you remember what is was like to be a teenager again)
August 28th, 200912:57 am
So when Nate comes back you want him to bat fourth?
*Wrangler jeans commercial on TV*
Okay I take back what I said earlier about athletes being human beings. I want Brett Favre dead.
jurjjens i would say 3 put chipper at 8….no only kidding.
1. diaz 2. prado 3. chip 4. mccann 5. mcclouth 6. yunel 7. laroche 8. anderson….what you think?
August 28th, 200912:59 am
I know, nolie…i wish something could be done about him, but whatever…
So, six-man rotation?? I don’t know…i go back and forth on that concept and can’t decide what i prefer. i guess it could help, at least doing it a couple of times through the rotation.
It hasn’t been THAT long.
I’m going to bed. I’ll be mean to you tomorrow. Night!
August 28th, 20091:00 am
I like it, So when there is a righty, Church plays? or no church?
Wayne in Utah
Actually, I have lost a lot of respect for DOB. He says one thing, and then doesn’t follow up. He is counting on the fact that most on here want Braves talk so much, they will put up with about anything.
What I don’t think he realizes is that Paul offends about 3/4 of the posters here to the core. Lots of folks leave when they realize Paul is on.
To be honest with you, I left for a while, then decided to come back and push the envelope, just to see what would happen. I decided to talk about politics just to see how far I would be allowed to go. I hope my friends understand, and I have a lot of left leaning friends, that I hope will forgive some of my comments.
Pretty darn good chance that I leave in a few days anyway. I have a business venture that I am getting very involved in that will take up most of my blogging time anyway, but the AJC and DOB’s lack of giving a shyt about whatever Paul says, makes leaving easy.
After I do go, I will probably come back once in a blue moon, to converse with my friends, but I will encourage my friends to stand up for decency, and demand that the lowlife Paul be banned permanently.
He is one godless man. It will tick him off to hear it, but I pray for him. Take that Paul! I pray he will never get a disease like Diabetes. I pray that he will never lose the freedoms that our military affords him, which he so openly disdains.
OK Wayne, get down off your soap box. The problem with a guy like Paul is that he causes me to get worked up for what, a low life ingrate!
Another good reason to eventually say goodbye.
Paul, I PRAY to GOD for your sorry kiester every day!
August 28th, 20091:01 am
GOOD NIGHT SOPH!
I want Yunel 5 when lefties on the mound.
Why don’t you just kiss my azz, and we can call it a date… WAYNE
like I said I wasn’t very optimistic about the anger issues after all these years. You old hardline rightwingers need your rages to build up your feelings of inadequacy and justify all those conspiracy theories. Watch out! CNN is gonna getcha.
Tiger: from the sound of Bowman’s interview with Hudson, Hudson will spell KK, then spell Hanson because the rookie is right at his innings’ ceiling. Which ever starter needs a blow, Hudson will fill his spot, then also work out of the pen.
I think it’s a brilliant idea, especially for Hanson. Gotta protect The Future.
I Love baseball, but I’m worn out by the abject mediocrity. My team has no chance even though the Team of Choice on This Blog is tied with them for 2nd place. i’m big into reality and I not only call a spape a spade I call crap “Crap”–Enough for me. If someone steps up out of Los Angeles, Detroit or Texas to keep the ESPN teams out of the World Series I will be elated. In the NL, I really don’t want the man Who Invented Baseball to be in the World Series. Also want Manny to again be on the outside looking in. I don’t want the Phillies in because of the lunacy that could possibly start about Charley being a “Genius”–Gosh!!So Let’s Go Tigers v. Rockies.
D-Backs CRUSHING San Fran 10 – 0!
August 28th, 20091:02 am
I would say the way Matty is playing right now don’t you have to ride his hot streak out?? Not sure but the dude is raking. I would say church is odd man out for now.
My Line Up.
I like that lineup too Tiger…Diaz is swinging the bat so well I don’t know if you can take him out and its not like you can count on Church to be healthy that day
August 28th, 20091:03 am
You old hardline rightwingers need your rages to build up your feelings of inadequacy and justify all those conspiracy theories
Not to intrude, but Faux is very right winged, and I hate that….
August 28th, 20091:04 am
That sounds like the best idea to me. I would def go for that. Like you said gotta protect Hanson for sure.
Who is Paul??
JJ- now that we have 4 legit leadoff candidates? who are the 4?
The A Bomb
Wayne — No worries, man.
DOB — next time you’re in San Francisco why don’t you invite Lentz to meet this BUM named Buddy Carlyle — see what he goes through.
There is a difference between opinion and ignorance. Sorry to say Lentz has no idea where the line is.
August 28th, 20091:05 am
Matty Diaz is what? 18 for his last 36 or something like that. thats impressive. keep him in the lineup
August 28th, 20091:06 am
Brandon I like that lineup a lot. I really do think Mcclouth almost needs to hit second, think he fits perfect there. Really like the idea of Roche at 4 but because Brian is our young “main man” he will always be in the 4th spot no matter what.
August 28th, 20091:07 am
Fox is right winged. CNN is left wing. Everybody gets to be told what they want to hear.
August 28th, 20091:08 am
You always have to watch out for lefty/righty stuff….
For instance BFWR had:
Switch (who hits better against rightys)
You don’t want to be too LOOGY vulnerable….
And yes, Diaz is so crazy hot right now, keep him in the lineup until he cools off.
Though Church is an enormous upgrade over him on defense, and truthfully is a pretty good hitter. I like the guy a lot.
August 28th, 20091:09 am
Ive been searching for the McCann home run off Clemens in the playoffs a few years back, anyone know where i can find it. I sat all afternoon watching Sid Bream’s “The Slide” and Otis Nixon’s “The Catch” and of course the Final Out of the1995 World Series.
August 28th, 20091:10 am
Blaine Boyer pitching with an 11 – 0 lead with zero outs….
I on the edge of my seat, chewing my nails…..
Well said. But as Nolie pointed out you can really ban him…but if I recall, DOB has directed posts to Dunce since the “banning” which bothers me. Anyway….
Good luck on the business venture! If you have a legit reason to stay off the blog that’s cool….but i’d hate to see someone like Dunce push good people away. I’ll stay on here even though he’s still around, but will ignore him until he crosses the line…like he did, yet again, tonight.
We should be able to hammer righties. We can easily turn every position except SS into a lefty. And Yunel hits righties better than lefties anyway.
Good point on the defense Kurdt, Matty def hurt us last night with his glove.
JJ4NLCY Good point. I forgot that we are left handed heavy.
August 28th, 20091:11 am
Infante, Church, McLouth, and (I guess) Diaz…
And notice SoonerBrave, I took the high road every single time.
He is easy to expose if you keep your cool.
August 28th, 20091:12 am
It will be interesting to see how that works out for Huddy if he really is gonna relieve two guys on and off.
Blaine Boyer….man i miss him. Wish we had him instead of Buddy Carlyle…only kidding.
Did Blain Boyer throw 96 – 97mph in Atlanta?
August 28th, 20091:13 am
Haha. Bennett was worse than Boyer, I wonder why he left first…
August 28th, 20091:14 am
I know he was at least 94-95 mph. Know he threw hard but not sure if he was throwing 97 or not.
If Garrett Anderson weren’t made of brittle china, an OF of Anderson, McClouth, and Diaz would be tolerable. But when two out of the three are lame, and Church still has a balky elbow, your OF is the reason why the Braves hitters are sucking on pipe.
August 28th, 20091:15 am
i agree nolie, it should be interesting. the concept sounds good on paper, but not sure how it will work in reality with such irregular rest between starts.
JJ – Nate leadoff, Church isn’t quite the lead off type, tho a good number 9 on an american team, Not sold on Infante there, maybe when he gets his groove back, Matt D has done a good job rather have his power a little deeper
August 28th, 20091:16 am
Matt D will make a great DH one day
August 28th, 20091:17 am
Night all. I will leave you all with this. If this happens everyday for the rest of the season, we win and everyone else we need to lose loses, we will make it into the playoffs. Just a thought….
If Schafer makes it back then I see Nate as a 2, 3 if they don’t pick up another power bat
August 28th, 20091:19 am
CaliC: Uh, no.
In the AL, every DH position is a power bat that can hit 25-30 dingers.
Sorry, but the day Matty hits 20 dingers will be the day I start for the Braves. . .
Ain’t gonna happen.
up in arms over a solo hr. geez.
August 28th, 20091:20 am
JJ I don’t think he threw that hard I would say more like 94 but he might have touched that high a few times…kid can throw gas only problem is the walks and the fastball is straight
Just my opinion, for what its worth and if you have a better one lets hear it. unlike someone else… I’m not 99% right
August 28th, 20091:21 am
I am not sure where we got crossed up, but you have misunderstood me. I am so far right, I make Sean Hannity look like a moderate!
And yes, there is a movement going on in our government to slowly take away your freedoms….totally unconstitutional, but happening anyway. Our new administration is pushing the envelop.
You can stick your head in the sand, or you can open your eyes, and ask some quesstions. When has our government EVER ran anything well. Hell, they don’t even know how to run the military well. So, let’s let them take over healthcare.
Wake up folks. (better read this one fast, cause it wont be left up long!)
Tiger, does that mean that if I breathe, I will live?
August 28th, 20091:22 am
Bennett was worse than Boyer, I wonder why he left first (JJ)
likely part of it was that Bennett was Bobby’s designated groundball guy. He always wants one.
August 28th, 20091:24 am
MiaBchBravesFan – Matt D hits and hits too well to be a PH but the glove isn’t all that good, still think he will end up a DH some where
August 28th, 20091:25 am
When you were talking about bashing righties, at first I thought you were talking about my politics……funny as heck!!!
WAYNE, I knew I was right. You are a conspiracy nut-job. Sic ‘em CNN!
If we can get to the point where Diaz is our version of Greg Dobbs = championship,
August 28th, 20091:26 am
Just a little info…. I am a Ron Paul supporter…
I thought you said both parties pissed you off….
Or is this not you?
Where is UGA and BAS? I’m thirsty.
August 28th, 20091:27 am
I can’t believe Paul is bragging about being right 99% of the time. I mean…who does that?
Did you write that?
Utah Wayne: please leave your ‘tics at the door. This is a Braves’ forum. Your ideology need not apply. There are OTHER blogs for what you gotta say.
August 28th, 20091:29 am
jeffrey d . . . when you’re in a room alone with a half a box of Cheez-Its and partially drank Red Bulls, who will challenge your percentage of correctness?
Actually I’m surprised he didn’t say 100%!
August 28th, 20091:30 am
I dont think thats him
You got me pegged.
I said I was conservative, I didn’t say I was a republican.
Try to keep up. I really don’t give a damn. Didn’t you read that?? Besides, report me. They won’t do squat. Paul Dunce is living and posting proof of that. So, why not have a little fun?
August 28th, 20091:31 am
Signing off, Goodnight everyone!
August 28th, 20091:32 am
Or give a decimal or something
August 28th, 20091:33 am
I’m curious. Is Paul Lentz an August Leo? That would explain a lot of things. . .
August 28th, 20091:36 am
I don’t know what an August Leo is, but I’m guessing it’s annoying.
7 out of Division (still a long shot) and 4.5 out of Wildcard. Pretty good considering we lost the series. We MUST win 2/3 to stay in wildcard, and we must sweep to get back in division in my opinion. GO BRAVES!
August 28th, 20091:38 am
this weekend is huge. i believe the rockies are going to san fran. if we can take 2 of 3 and the Giants can win a couple. right back in it.
August 28th, 20091:39 am
Like I was telling you the other night, don’t let anybody (including me) tell you what to think. I was an unabashed liberal when I was young. Read the book “The 5000 Year Leap”. Learn about our great constitution. Then ask questions. Why is this happening? Why is that happening?
Besides, I don’t think Patrick Henry said “Give me security, or give me death.”
Welfare has it’s place, and it is not at the furtherest point from where it is needed, the federal government. It is needed in families, churches, and neighborhoods. Not in the government. Not mentioned anywhere in your constitution.
But, don’t take my word for it, I am a right wing nut job. Ask questions for yourself.
Show me where our Executive Branch has the rights under the constitution to set up Czars??? Look into the background of some of these “Czars” and tell me you want them working in a free society. Communism and Socialism has no place in our government.
Or, you can just stick your head in the sand, like so many are doing, like had done for years.
(again, read this one quick, it won’t last too long)
August 28th, 20091:41 am
nice and quiet early, it shows up, all hell breaks loose, it slithers away quietly then nice and peaceful again. Amazing
Tell ‘em Wayne
Buddy — keep plugging away. You are the man.
Lentz — you’re extremely limited. You need an insolence shot.
August 28th, 20091:42 am
Now things get REALLY interesting heading into the Philadelphia series. A sweep puts Atlanta right back in the thick of things.
This team hasn’t had a real seven- or eight-game winning streak all year. Now would be a wonderful time for one.
Moving Matt Diaz to leadoff might be one of the smartest moves Bobby ever has done. I say we keep him there.
August 28th, 20091:43 am
Good riddance to the political pundits.
Good night to the Braves’ fans.
ok, then where you put McLouth?
You’re right, Millsaps! Don’t think they’ve had more than 5 a couple of times. They need 7 in a row, and it’s theirs to win/lose!!!
August 28th, 20091:44 am
Re-Sign LaRoche. He’s a ballplayer.
Can’t wait till McLouth comes back. But who do you sit down? Infante? I dunno.
August Leo? Paul? Don’t think so!
August 28th, 20091:45 am
Yeah, I was yelling, “Welcome back Rochey!!!” Tonight at the ballpark after he hit the homer and was playing 1st base.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
