since you didn’t know, Lentz, Norton is still on the team because he is a switch hitting PH and allows Bobby to carry the extra left hander in the pen instead of another bat on the bench, like it or not, I understand it
The A Bomb………..As far as I’m concerned, Carlyle has had plenty of “opportunities” to prove that he is worthy of being anything more than a mop up guy.
Just like Greg Norton has proven throughout the whole 2009 season that he sucks as a hitter at this point in his career. How many more pinch hitting “opportunities” do you need to see him get?
Last year his stuff was good, real good. Look up his stats (Jurrjens)
look them up yourself. he was a big help for a while no doubt, and I’m pleased that he was;and I’m very pleased to see him get a chance to come back after his diagnosis since I am diabetic too. Read too much L. Ron Hubbard in my youth I guess,CHOP-But the league caught up to him the last few months-and perhaps the diabetes was affecting him too already-but for whatever reason he did not pitch well at all at the end. Sure appreciate what a help he was, but he was not the best pitcher on the staff all year. ERA 1.55 in the first half and 5.35 in the second.
If I were a Braves player and read some of the garbage some of you write about them I’d set up a meet and greet with you only to greet you with a choke. Yeah, I’d choke the sh** out of you. Some folks here are either hateful, ignorant, or just lonely and miserable…or all of the above.
Lentz I am not saying he is the best pitcher but I trust him more than Acosta. The rosters are about to expand anyways so I doubt he will be given many big situations. It wasn’t like he had horrible rehab numbers. Stop ragging on a dude just because you lost a couple of points in fantasy world.
When do I EVER miss a person’s point? Not to be arrogant, but I’m right at least 99% of the time and so the jealousy runs wild on me. So what, I write LONG posts and make valid points….. who else can say that I’m spot on 99% of the time?? I’m waiting…….
Chop Chop………..do you really think that some fan didnt heckle Carlyle when he gave up that homer? Then again, judging by the attendance at the game, maybe no one was left to heckle him.
I’ve seen a number of people make fun of Schafer’s ears tonight. However, no one has come to “his rescue”. Athletes are targets for heckling.
Also, Carlyle was ripped for giving up a lot of runs earlier this year. Many on here attributed it to his diabetes. So when he gave up the homer tonight, I chimed in with the “did you forget to take your insulin shot” remark.
It was JUST ONE FREAKING REMARK. It wasnt like I posted 5 paragraphs about it. And besides, dude isnt IMMUNE to some heckling. If he feels like he is, then he is in the WRONG PROFESSION.
So, who are you really? Hiding behind another moniker? WAYNE
well first off Wayne the comment was about Jurrjens usual responses not yours. And secondly I am me. I post on here off and on and as NotAgain. Can’t help it if you missed my gems. too bad for you. Try a little reading comprehension when you do see one old man.
I really don’t think most of the players gives a rats azz about what’s said on a blog. Many of us are good Braves fans, and some are some real “loosers”. I suspect the players know that.
Besides, with their travel schedule, they don’t have time to worry about bloggers.
But Frank Wren is reading, and listening to what both Paul and I say. He knows we are both smart. If we talk about a certain player or strategy enough, eventually, he will say, “Hey, that Wayne and Paul on the blog were talking about so-n-so the other day! I think I will do exactly what they suggested!”
The A Bomb…………again, you are missing the point. I dont need to do any research on diabetes. His story is NO DIFFERENT to me than Reid Gorecki, Diory Hernandez, Manny Acosta or Brooks Conrad. What matters is what I feel he is capable of doing for the Braves. And I dont feel that Carlyle can help us win. That is why I dont like him. And as long as he pitches like he did tonight, I’ll continue to rip him.
He sucked in the past in the Majors (his rehab stint in Triple A does nothing to change my mind)…..he sucked tonight……and he’ll probably suck in the future. Diabetes has nothing to do with what I think of him. It’s a non issue to me.
Just like what Smoltz and Glavine did for the Braves in the past had nothing to do with whether I wanted them on the team this year. The distant past is a NON ISSUE, especially when the recent past shows that you SUCK.
CaliChopper – props to both teams. helluva an effort. its sad that the game had to end like that. no worries tho, as i said earlier warner robins will be back.
Tuesday happens, I am not bothered by Tuesday. We know why Tuesday happened. KK’s shoulder conked out, and the rest unspooled.
With a potential playoff rotation of Vazquez, Jurrjens, Lowe, and Hudson, and the added bonus of Hanson in the bullpen, this is a World Series-caliber pitching staff. This season will be one of the most baseball-tragic seasons in recent Braves’ memory. All this because of four games:
Soriano blows a save against the Marlins.
Soriano blows a save against the Dodgers.
Soriano blows a save against the Phillies.
On Monday, the Braves cannot drive in the winning run from third in the ninth against the Padres.
Those four losses are why the Braves will not make the playoffs this year. Even with their pathetic, crappy, inept hitting, the rotation mentioned above is head and shoulders above any other rotation competing for a playoff spot right now.
Better than the Giants. Better than the Phillies. Better than the Cardinals (even with a born-again John Smoltz). Better than the Rockies. Better than the Marlins. Better than the Dodgers. Better than the Yankees. Better than any other team in the AL.
Choke on that thought, Braves fans. What a freakin’ tragedy! All because the (lack of) brain trust placed ALL of their eggs on a Francoeur comeback basket back in January, and left this platinum pitching staff with this crappy pot metal pile of junk called a lineup.
“Diabetes has nothing to do with what I think of him. It’s a non issue to me.”
So…your first response to him giving up a HR and a walk was to say heckle him about not taking his insulin? That makes sense…
Look, rip the guy all you want if you don’t like the way he pitches, you’re allowed that…just stay away from the knocking the guy because of his disease. Can you please at least understand that?
Obviously you are not as good at writing as you think you are. Jurrjens didn’t respond, and I did. So who looks like they need to bone up?
And sorry I have missed your golden nuggets of wisdom. When I come on here, I spend too much time. when I am gone away, I rarely jump on just to read what some of you folks are saying.
Try to be a little more clear next time….
BTW, I am not buying your story, for whatever it’s worth.
Will………..you root for your players the way you want to. I’ll root and jeer them my way.
If some of you want to be “blindly” loyal to Smoltz and Glavine…….then I’ll be “blindly” loyal to my fantasy baseball picks. You root for BUMS who cant perform anymore………I’ll root for who I pick on my fantasy team that day.
One good thing (among many) about living in America is that we are all allowed to “not have to think alike”. Fans heckle at the ballpark all the time. Why should the internet be any different? Carlyle gave up a homer, I heckled him. So freaking what?
Yall some fools! Hey, I love reading all the haters hatin on me….makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. If I ain’t got no haters then I don’t feel important.
My, my where are all of these witty comebacks coming from all of a sudden? You’re still a butthead though.
What is this feeling, So sudden and new? I felt the moment I laid eyes on you; My pulse is rushing;
My head is reeling; My face is flushing; What is this feeling? Fervid as a flame, Does it have a name? Yes! Loathing Unadulterated loathing!
MiaBchBravesFan you’re so right. They really belong in the postseason. I can remember thinking after each of those blown soriano saves that it was just too bad. We finally had everything working for us and soriano, who had been spotless all season, comes in and craps the bed. Poor braves.
And guess what. Now, Soriano’s back to normal. Its almost comical.
Lentz – I didn’t say anywhere I thought he can hit, I dare you to find anywhere I said that. I said like it or not, I understand why he’s still on the roster. Now quit ranting and go play god with your fantacy team before we have to break out a dribble bib for you.
They’re people before they’re athletes. Barry Bonds is a d-bag, but i don’t wish him ill. I may hope that Matthew Stafford falls flat on his face on the Lions, but I don’t want him dead or whatever.
And I’d rather see Buddy give up a run in blowout game and cost me fantasy points after making a great comeback from diabetes than have him cut and lose his job and livelihood.
So, just keeping a tally – you called me ugly and stupid. Just wait till tomorrow. I got you. I gotchuuuuuuuu.
Do you want some ammo? My girlfriend just broke up with me…. You could use that. Btw, Wayne That is the main reason why I was acting like a ‘dickhead.’ Just didn’t think that was appropriate for the blog
Lets take some predictions on this weekend. I got Braves winning on Friday and Sunday for a 2 out of 3 weekend. Lee might throw a no hitter against us though in the middle game.
Regardless of whether the Braves make it to the playoffs this year, the topic around here most of the offseason will be Javy vs. Hudson…who stays, who goes. It’ll be fun.
Anyone who claims they will only get their news from one network shows how narrow minded they really are……..I guess it gives them more time to flex their “internet muscle”
Do you want some ammo? My girlfriend just broke up with me…. You could use that.
Nawwwww, I can’t use that against you.
I’ll just have to be extra creative tomorrow after I’m rested up and firing at all cylinders. You were okay today, you just went a little berserk with the Javy thing, that’s all. Happens to the best of us.
If the AAA Pirates can take 2 of three against Philly, then damn it, so can we!
Had the last series taken place in Lamade St…er, Citizens Bank park, we would have taken 2 of 3 last time. 5 or 6 freaking balls ran down on the warning track for us, then Ryan Howard’s nose flicks one out to dead center…
Dunce is such an idiot because he is a selfish, godless man. Doesn’t give a damn about anything but himself.
His heartlessness displayed tonight toward Buddy’s situation, and his comments a few weeks back about our military guy’s (and Mitchie-san in particular) are indefensible.
Anyone who claims they will only get their news from one network shows how narrow minded they really are……..I guess it gives them more time to flex their “internet muscle”
No one said that, Wayne said he doesn’t like Fawx news and refuses to watch it, and neither do I.
BTW, I am not buying your story, for whatever it’s worth WAYNE
ain’t worth much. I’ve been here and posted. And you were supposed to respond, but the comment was about Jurrjens. Still can’t comprehend that huh? Well I’ll know not to waste any time commenting to you again. Perhaps a remedial English class would help you some? Have a good night old man.
JA Son: like everyone in this room, I LOVE the Braves. I’d rather win 14 straight divisions and one WS than root for the dirtbag Marlins and their two Series’ wins.
To see this pitching squandered because of this pack of meatballs called a one-to-eight lineup, makes me blind with rage, makes me wanna puke! What a waste! What a freakin’ waste!
Oh, and one more thing, as long as Chipper Jones’ crippled tail is starting at third for the Braves for the rest of his career, the Braves will go nowhere past 162. He needs to go to Texas and be a DH.
I’ll just have to be extra creative tomorrow after I’m rested up and firing at all cylinders. You were okay today, you just went a little berserk with the Javy thing, that’s all. Happens to the best of us.
Come on, be a man and direct your comments towards me. Don’t be a chicken. Man up.
Besides, I just decided years ago to quit letting the Clinton News Network tell me what to think. While the one I watch leans the other way, it is leaning MY way.
So, don’t be such a chicken dude. If you want to jam me up, you know where I am. I have very thick skin, lay it on!
But it’s all good. Some of my best friends haven’t been Hannitized …… yet!
His heartlessness displayed tonight toward Buddy’s situation, and his comments a few weeks back about our military guy’s (and Mitchie-san in particular) are indefensible.
****************************************
And thats why he was (ahem) “banned”….right AJC? DOB? right……..
I haven’t forgiven Brandon Marshall since he murdered my fantasy season last year. What he did in practice the other day just makes me dislike him more.
Doesn’t mean I want him dead or fired! I just didn’t draft him this year.
Wayne said you sounded like a kid in your post. I asked him how was that different than most of your posts, but he was too stupid to understand what I said. Either one of you could have responded, and now both of you have. I am so thrilled. Now if we could just teach Wayne how to read English and control his temper, something would actually get accomplished here tonight. I don’t hold out much hope for him though.
Kurdt Kobain, of Vick as a football player, yes. I don’t even like football that much but I wouldn’t miss a Falcons when I had the chance. Love dogs more.

Impressive Triple A stats ONLY IMPRESS me when they are backed up by IMPRESSIVE MAJOR LEAGUE STATS.
So when Hanson won the AFL MVP award, you just thought, “Phht! Who cares!”?

My, my where are all of these witty comebacks coming from all of a sudden? You’re still a butthead though.
What is this feeling, So sudden and new? I felt the moment I laid eyes on you; My pulse is rushing;

Great to see Buddy back tonight.

The Hoss needs to go out to pasture.
