I know the attendance is not what the Braves want but it seems like a relatively decent crowd on this evening.
I’m not sure what more than expect from people when they can’t put away the Padres.
They’re just too inconsistent for people to really believe in. Sort of like Matt Diaz.
That’s right, I said it. Matt Diaz, not my favorite player by any means.
Boy, I sure hope all those people who were talking about a sure sweep are wrong and we win at least one of these games. Or it will not only be BALLGAME! but SEASON! and DECADE! Better call suicide hotline now and get them on alert for many blog denizens who who implode if this geme is lost. Braves are such LOOSERS!!!
Martin Prado on a Motorola RazR from 2B
You got a problem with giving me my props, Steve?
August 26th, 20098:55 pm
damn it. just like that the wheels come off. why can the Braves just never put a team away when they’re ahead? Always have to give a sizeable lead away and make things tense in the later innings.
oh boy………….are we gonna get swept by the padres?
K.K. flirted with danger without any damage in the first inning, and again in the second inning. But you can only do that so many times, usually. He got stung this inning. This thing has turned quickly…
Trosh: You should talk to Random about music, not me. You and I (and Random and I) have very different views on what is and isn’t good music. Nothing wrong with that. But Random is of like mind with you. I’m not. At all. So you go dig on Anka. I’ll take a little Gamble-and-Huff Philly soul anytime, i.e. the Intruders, the O’Jays, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes.

Where’s my paycheck?
Are we just throwing meatballs up there? geez, everything hit hard.
Steve from OH
Hey, it’s not like I’m giving out mugs with your picture on it, Marteen.
Not an O’Flaherty fan either.
Nor have I ever been.
Go figure, Madre Padre was right. We are the ones getting swept. Good call sir.
Still no word on American Aquarium? If you like Jason Isbell, DBTs, Wilco … you really ought to give them a listen
Brooklyn Braves Brawler
Chipper is killing us offensively, right now.
Bad read on Mac? Yell it out Mac!
Hudson is supposed to start September 2nd.
this team is worthless and anyone who wants to take up for chipper still well your an idiot hes killing the team argue all you want but your boy is not producing.
Good night, folks
OK this is sad.
oh come on
August 26th, 20098:57 pm
McCann just hurt ‘em with that dropped ball. Cost a run, the second run on the play.
It’s getting ugly, ugly, fugly
A Razor? Get with the times, Martin. I’ll bet you’re still on dial-up too.
I’m scared to hit refresh this thing…
Dan Kolb's Mom
wow. we are sh*tty. game over. season done. you dont bounce back from consecutive losses to the worst team in the game.
Ladies and Gentleman…your 2009 Atlanta Braves. Later folks.
GOODNIGHT PEOPLE.. way to go guys.. allow the 2nd worst team in the league to score 5 and goin for more..this team sucks.
Is Derek Lowe pitching? This is familar
Just tuned into the game and the blog (since the game started)…. not even going to go back and read…I pretty much already know what it is going to say with the Braves trailing 5-3
Oh man padres score 5 in an INNING haha braves are just awful could be 6 or 7 hell maybe 8.
August 26th, 20098:58 pm
Where the F was O’Flaherty?
Take him out Bobby.
Gave the E to Church, but I think he’s got to review that. That should go to Mac, for sure.
A 5-run inning by the Padres. Don”t think those words have be uttered all year!
David Ross's Mom
I’ve been calling for that cute Ross boy to start for weeks…
Are we sure McCann doesn’t have ADD like LaRoche and Lowe? He looks absolutely clueless sometimes behind the plate.
I’ve said it before, and I truly believe it: Worse defensive catcher EVER!
Now the Keystone Cops have taken the field with Braves uniforms on.
August 26th, 20098:59 pm
Damn, EOF what’s up?
Does anyone really think the Braves have a chance to make the playoffs ? If you do, you are just dumb. This season is over folks. At least we have the Falcons to look forward to.
What a collective meltdown. This 6th inning has been brutal. Kawakami, Diaz, LaRoche, O’Flaherty, and McCann all contributed to this horrific inning.
I guess you could say that “the sense of urgency” when it comes to coming together and “losing focus” rose up real quick this half inning.
Get the brooms out… Padres are sweeping this series
This is just a pitiful team coached by a pitiful manager. Diaz did not get the ball in center that almost anyone else in the NL would have gotten. Ohflarety reverting to his old self. And Chipper an absolute liability at the plate. Disgraceful team.
We are just our own worst enemy, aren’t we?
It’s a good thing the Braves aren’t in a playoff race…this game would be really detrimental if they were…
Our playoff hopes (as small as they may be now) just took a HARD HIT(just like the blog title, Thanks DOB!!)
August 26th, 20099:00 pm
This is not the mark of a playoff team. Maybe the best thing the Braves have done lately is keep people interested until football season starts. Because they’re playing this series like they’re waiting on football season.
First, big old monster props to nolie! for just being nolie. Don’t need no other reason.
And triple mad props to Steve-OH at 6:21P. Way fine, brah, good on ya.
And no props for The Truth (or whoever), who addressed me as someone equating Bobby Cox and Omar Minaya. Don’t believe I ever said anything resembling, my man.
Now! Let’s get some of that good whining on board! Kawakami loses the lead, so whiners away!
and the 2009 season just officially ended for the Braves
3-4 earned w/ 5-6 innings
KK is very predictable in these types of games. Not really a great outing from him though 7 hits, at least 4 runs in only 5 innings.
Its nice to see people still get dressed up to go to ballgames.
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson
we need to hold him here and wake our offense up… its not like stauffer is pitching a gem.
If anyone actually thinks we will come back well QUIT DREAMING its the braves dude they cant hit chipper jones is awfulllllllllllllllllllllll
August 26th, 20099:01 pm
Seriously Braves..the Padres..the San Diego freakin padres…yeah why bother to even show up!… I’m going to go shoot myself.
This is bad enough.
A 3 and 3 road trip would have been good enough if we could have won or swept this series.
Not saying it’s over but… Eric O’Flaherty sucks. I’ve never liked this guy.
One things for sure, the Braves will make a game interesting.
Walk Eckstein to get to Gonzalez their best player. Solid strategy by Mr. O’ Flaherty
At least the guys got to meet Jerry Springer, right?
Apparently…Eric brought the gas can in with him… from the pen…
I’ve said it too Murph. He’s a horrible defensive catcher. Working on his DH resume’ I presume.
August 26th, 20099:02 pm
Time for you to break out your good mojo, bravesgirl4lyfe
If you don’t think the Braves have a chance to win this game, or go to the playoffs, or whatever, thats great. Stop watching. No need to waste your valuable time. See you in Spring.
Well, folks, let’s look at the positive side of things. This will be the first time in years the Braves will be playing in October. Of course, that’s only because the regular season ends in October, but it’s still an accomplishment, right ?
La Jolla Dawg
Thankfully no one here is even following the Padres anymore (that’s how bad they are) so I shouldn’t have to deal with any teasing…
August 26th, 20099:03 pm
f*ck this. im going to watch monsterquest on history channel. its about moby dick.
Thank you Loaf… sigh.
This is like Game Four of the 1996 World Series on a smaller scale. Stunning collapse.
Sons of Saban
Oh well….10 days til college football…bring it on !!
This frigging team could not beat any of the Little League teams on earlier.
Make that a six-run inning for the Padres. They haven’t done this since Steve Garvey played 1B for the Pads.
R U f***ing kidding me!
August 26th, 20099:04 pm
That was pretty amazing by Church. Runner on 3rd, hitter hits a single to center and Church almost throws him out.
Meanwhile, the meltdown continues.

Don’t do it Chief!
Stick around. It’s going to be an exciting finish at the end of the year…..for somebody anyway.
Loaf, Don’t dive! Wouldn’t want you to display any athletic ability whatsoever/
wow O’flarety came in and was absolutely worthless just embarassing really
Why can’t we beat these bottom feeders?
I think i’m gonna go watch re-runs of the Golden Girls. Anything is more fun than watching this crap.
mlb tv is bashing us for missing the cutoff man earlier…
You must have me confused with someone who makes MFIKY/Loaf/KK money. I’m just tryna survive here.
Great work, Eric! Thanks for stopping by!
See ya tomorrow.. And something to ponder while I’m away:
Coxy is working hard on his new streak. Its called “third or worse” four years in a row!
$%#@ this. all that needs to be said i think.
We will not make the playoffs. Forget it. If we can’t beat the Padres, we don’t deserve it either. Really pathetic efforts. Really disappointing….
August 26th, 20099:05 pm
Thank GOD For Football!!!
2 days till high school football starts, thank God football season is upon us.
I think I’m feeling sick. Ugh. And it’s all to do with this inning. Too, too much of a reminder of Lowe a week ago.
I feel sorry for those who keep getting suckered in and buying tickets to these games. Seriously, in this economy there are better than in life to spend your money on than Braves tickets.
braves is the worst team I’ve ever seen. WTF!
I can’t believe. Lose to Padres?
The Padres have batted around on the Braves!! This is getting very, very U G L Y!!!
Be careful GA. Don’t get dirty!
see you guys next season. i am out. football soon, so dont despair. and the phils/angels world series should be pretty entertaining.
this is Dan Kolb’s Mama signing off for the 09 baseball season.
i love you guys.
August 26th, 20099:06 pm
Monsterquest is on, Score! Better than this foolishness!
Awww, the Padres are so excited. Can’t say I blame them…
Wow Bobby goes to the pen. Anyone think these smucks will score again. No way. Same old S–t.
I like how teams set season records against us.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
