Believe me I’ve been watchin it “alllll niggghhtt lonnggg”
ala Ron Gant
Nova Scotia Steve
Looks like Granny’s got a jumbo
This is not a team, it is like computer, if one of its parts fail, it just doesnt work at all…………next day, you get a spare and it works full speed.
There are no grays for this atlanta team, it is full speed or not working at all.
August 26th, 20097:44 pm
See, I have no idea what that song was.
Could anybody tell what the guy was playing after the catch?
He’s stumping me.
Jerry Jerry Jerry
That’s about as far as Garret can bend over. There will be NO dives from the G man in the outfield.
Jerry Springer at the ballpark. Now that would be worth the price of admission.
August 26th, 20097:45 pm
Jerry Springer? WTF!?!
Send MFIKY after Jerry Springer…should be fun to watch
McFann, You were right and I was wrong. After some internet research, I discovered that the “you don’t make friends with salad” line is indeed from The Simpsons. My apologies. No more Bobby, I was just trying to emphasize the point that the Braves’ lineup was constructed with flaws. Hopefully that will be rectified this winter.
the way KK’s pitching, he’ll have that ERA around 3.40 by season’s end … maybe lower
Props to Springer for being a Braves fan.
August 26th, 20097:46 pm
Maybe Jerry will be our good luck charm ~_~
Paul McCartney and Jack Nicholson in front row behind home plate at Yankee Stadium for game with the Rangers (ex-Braves, except for Tex).
Jerry Springer… there’s your celebrity, Braves.
Turner Field is officially the place to be.
August 26th, 20097:47 pm
McFann, I highly recommend watching reruns of Cheers, which are occasionally shown on TBS and Peachtree TV. Very funny show.
August 26th, 20097:48 pm
Jerry Springer’s just tryin to get the LaRoche girls to come on his show…
He saw them last night…
I get sea sick watching Eckstein bat.
Note to KK…I don’t think the Pads can score 3 runs by midnight…unless you walk a bunch of em’…jes sayin’…
Any of you hear that brief chant of “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry”?
TBS – Very Funny
August 26th, 20097:49 pm
44 pitches for KK – ominous!
Years ago, celebs from every corner of the world were seen at Turner Field. As the Braves fortunes go, so goes the quality of attention grabbing celebs at The Ted.
Jerry Springer is as close to A list as the Braves can draw today. hehehe
AndyC………………Thank you for the props at 7:45. I have said REPEATEDLY that I was a Braves fan. I finally got a sense of URGENCY and flew all the way from Chicago to ATTEND a Braves game in “person”.
August 26th, 20097:50 pm
They just showed Vivian Whitlock, a Braves fan celebrating her 100th birthday. She’s here, wearing a Braves cap, chewing gum, and waving to the camera when they showed her on the video board.
August 26th, 20097:51 pm
Love the screen name Chauncey. Very high brow. Great movie as you can probably attest.
I can’t believe some of the balls Garrett gets to without sliding. I kind of hope he doesn’t start diving, he might not ever be able to get up.
August 26th, 20097:52 pm
Wow, Jerry Springer on the blog. You remind me of this other guy that posts here.
August 26th, 20097:53 pm
bravesgrl4life I’ve asked my husband for a jersey for Christmas. It must might have to be McCann’s. Was thinking Hanson, but I might be changing my mind on that.
Good choice! I got mine for Christmas in ‘07. I’ve gotten more wea out of this shirt than any shirt I’ve ever owned, I would guess…
Supes I fully expect B-Mac to lead the club in RBI’s this year.
Wouldn’t be surprised. He did it last year (which is partly why he’s batting cleanup this year. )
I had brian penciled in for 20+HR, 35+ Doubles and 85+RBI when the season started.
Well, looks like he’s gonna make that! But hopefully he hits quite a few more doubles, ’cause he’s got 30 now…
No sweat…that was Dan Kolb’s Mom that originally gave the quote. Like I said, never watch the Simpsons…
My parents like Cheers, though.
lay off Loaf, left field aint no swimmin pool, baby
Vivian Whitlock – apparently eating a jumbo hotdog earlier in the 1st inning
Wayne in Utah
Nice tater by Mac! Do we dare get Chipper a day off tomorrow?
Escobar, while he is great at times, frustrates me with his attitude at times. Would the Red Sox take Escobar and Schafer for Ellsbury and Lowrie?
I love that!
August 26th, 20097:54 pm
I love hotdogs…
Mitchell, Peter Sellers was a genius.
Agree with you on Garret…..don’t think it’s wise for him to start diving.
Ballgame© (2010 or bust)
What happened to Coachie? Did someone chase him away? Steve from OH??
And Jerry Springer
I can’t believe some of the balls Garrett gets to without sliding.
I meant diving not sliding. Of course.
Should Ryan really be playing? I thought he was injured. What’s the difference between today and last night?
They probably juiced him up.
KK, hit one out of here.
Loaf on a Blackberry heading to left field
I don’t slide ’cause Life Alert no worky at Turner Field
August 26th, 20097:55 pm
I’m going to pretend Jerry Springer is a Padres fan.
I sure hope if I make it to 100 I will still be able to hit the Ted. In fact, Bobby Cox may still be managing the team (just kidding). Kudos to Ms. Whitlock! Hopefully the bravos gave her some free tickets.
August 26th, 20097:56 pm
Randy Cross, Jerry Springer……..who else is in store for tonight?
August 26th, 20097:57 pm
What’s up with these guests in the booth? If it’s not about baseball I don’t want to hear it.
Would the Red Sox take Escobar and Schafer for Ellsbury and Lowrie?
Why would anyone want to do that?
Happy Birthday, Ms. Whitlock. When I am 100, I want to celebrate just like you!
August 26th, 20097:58 pm
Is Ms. Whitlock with Jerry Springer at the game? Talk about an odd couple. At least she knows he can dance.
mets up on marlins, 2-0
You notice I didn’t name the film we’re talking about.
We’re the only ones cool enough to have seen it and recognize that name.
It’s a fact.
August 26th, 20097:59 pm
Do we really have to have these stupid interviews every night pluging other SportsSouth shows? I don’t care! I’m here to watch baseball!
Ok, we don’t need to actually see him talking about that show. At least keep the cameras on the game…
Church looking good out there. Dude isn’t a bad CF.
Sons of Saban
August 26th, 20098:00 pm
Ok…..that’s enuff about Teblow !!!
August 26th, 20098:02 pm
Keep the guest within baseball. No more Golf, SEC. I can flip a channel if I need other sports. I realize they predicted the Padres series being off the chart boring, but come on. Baseball only please.
I miss Skip, Pete and Ernie. Most of the years those guys were calling the game, the team just wasn’t very good. They knew it and the fans knew it.
Boog, Joe, Chip and anyone else associated with the broadcasts (Powell and Sutton)spend each evening telling us just how close the team is to being a threat for the playoffs.
At least there was a sense of reality with Skip and crew.
August 26th, 20098:03 pm
Curacao in Semifinals once again in Little League World Series playing Taiwan and then possibly Warner Robins in Finals. Do they have another Andruw or JJ and are they all still Braves fans? Or perhaps they are more like future Randall Simons.
Roman Gal @ 7:59–
That’s exactly the way I feel!
Pet peeve: Random interviews during innings–ESPECIALLY is they pretty much (or completely) ignore the game at hand.
Should clone Diaz for sure ~_~
August 26th, 20098:04 pm
August 26th, 20098:05 pm
Springer was in fact once the mayor of Cincinnati so I take it he’s somewhat of a Reds fan although I’m saddened to report and even sadder to actually know that he grew up a Yankee fan. I would assume he still is.
I never miss an E! True Hollywood Story. And why would I?
August 26th, 20098:06 pm
My favorite Peter Sellers movie is Dr. Strangelove. Here’s my favorite line from the movie
August 26th, 20098:07 pm
I saw the introductions to a Curacao game, and most of the kids had JJ and Andruw Jones as their favorite players.
What I don’t understand is how so many of these kids have ARod and Pujols as their favorite players. Several GA kids too. I mean… when I was that age, my favorite players were Fred McGriff, Chipper Jones, and Javy Lopez. Irresponsible parents letting their kids be such frontrunners.
Oh, and hey, ARod’s a cheater… Manny too. Kids these days…
August 26th, 20098:09 pm
If Diaz had a bit more plate discipline, he might make a good lead-off guy. His average is usually good, and if he did not take a crazy-man swing each and every at bat, he could get some deeper counts. Then again, he usually gets a hit after his crazy-man swings.
August 26th, 20098:10 pm
ESPN, the self promotion champions of the world, doesn’t even have people in the booth to pimp their own shows. They’ll have other people in, but to talk about other things… usually relatively pertinent things.
Refresh, will ya?
Good play, Mac.
August 26th, 20098:11 pm
Can somebody tell me what’s on the Padres’ sleeves? It looks like Homestar Runner
Don’t let em give you any crap on The Three Degrees. That is a great song. Good mood (ahem) song, too.
Have you heard the new Drivin-n-Cryin CD? Thoughts on it?
I’m havin’ problems with that too, McFann. Goes back like three posts or somethin’.
August 26th, 20098:13 pm
Chauncey, funny you mentioned Pete Van Wieren. He stopped by today, was in Bobby’s secondary office, the one by the dugout, chatting before the game. I miss him, too. Love to hear him tell stories.
By the way, Pete’s quite the accomplished poker player and has been entering a lot of tournaments lately. He’s beaten a couple of the guys who’ve appeared on ESPN, including the 2003 World Series of Poker champion, Chris Moneymaker.
Church! Great play! Good inning for KK.
August 26th, 20098:14 pm
Eckstein loves his greenies…..as does Byrnes, and Counsell. Why they get a pass, I’ll never know.
Oughta be a law dammit!
August 26th, 20098:15 pm
As good as Dr. Strangelove is (LOVE Slim Pickens in that movie too … and George C. Scott), Peter Sellers was outstanding in “Shot in the Dark.” As was the lovely Elke Sommer.
Sellers was great in “The Party” as well.
Besides the painfully off-key tomahawk chops commercial, this one with the Home Depot guy is my least favorite “This is my team” tacky commercial
August 26th, 20098:17 pm
Well, as he was getting that out, I was starting to call for a double. guess I was behind the mark. Oops!
Van Wieren >> Hellmuth.
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson
munz @ 7:23
“KK gets out of this, Braves make the playoffs.”
well, he got out of it…
August 26th, 20098:18 pm
Loaf is 2 for 2 tonight. Wow!
August 26th, 20098:19 pm
I’ll be glad when Turner Field retires this song. Which will probably 10 years from now.
Just trying to figure out a way to infuse some speed into the lineup for next year. Personally, I think YE is overrated.
Time to run out to one of Guy’s “Diners, Drive-in’s and Dives” tonight…
August 26th, 20098:20 pm
StingerSplash, haven’t heard that CD.
You who like blues-influenced rock with an edge, there’s a new (at least new to the States) British band called Band of Skulls (sounds like a ride at Disney or something, doesn’ t it?) that put out a solid debut. They sound like Led Zep one minute, White Stripes the next, and also like The Kills or Yeah Yeah Yeahs (when the girl in the band sings lead).
CD’s titled Baby Darling Doll Face Honey (yeah, I know, they really need to work on titles)
Really? Odd…it doesn’t usually do this during games.
Ground-out to first…dangit. Oh well…he cann get to .290 his next AB (sittin’ at .288 right now).
Yeah, like last night when Adrian Gonzalez hit that homerun and it took them a minute to say anything about it.
Brooklyn Braves Brawler
August 26th, 20098:21 pm
KK is dealing, as usual!
August 26th, 20098:22 pm
That interview last night was BOOOOOOOOOOOORING
bravesgrl4life Well, as he was getting that out, I was starting to call for a double. guess I was behind the mark. Oops!
No sweat…he’ll get it soon! Been a while…last double was on August 16th against “JAY” Happ.
There's an app for that
Where is the “Loaf scores from first” app?
Steve from OH
A take on Johan Santana’s contract:
Lets see if my mojo’s workin – 3fer, please, Roachy
August 26th, 20098:23 pm
Or not, guess I waited too long again. Stupid net.
Good grief…now I did miss that one. Saw the tail end of it…was all about golf, right? Ugh…
August 26th, 20098:24 pm
Church got robbed
Robbed, robbed, I tell ya.
Dangit…think he was tryin’ to hit it for you, though.
Both Chipper and Church hit it to the wrong part of the ballpark.
August 26th, 20098:25 pm
These Braves radio guys are just horrible. Constant off topic babble.
Didn’t look like it would’ve been a homer, but could have been a big hit. This Gwynn’s better with the glove than the bat.
August 26th, 20098:26 pm
Here’s some rehearsal footage of Band of Skulls….
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
