The Padres are such a bad team, folks. I don’t know how some of you can hunker down like this game (or the next one, or the one after that). Look at Cabrera. What the f*** is he doing?

David O’Brien……….I’m with Bobby Cox on this one. He’s totally right in keeping Chipper in the #3 spot in the order. While his production has tapered off, he still is able to draw walks, plus his presence in the order puts stress on the pitcher on the mound.

Not enough emphasis is being put on his presence in the batting order. Teams pitch him carefully, even when he is struggling, because they know he is capable of busting out of his slump at any time.

Some slumps last longer than others. However, until Chipper shows by his play that he isnt able to properly bust out of slumps, I see no problem with Bobby keeping him in the line-up in the #3 spot in the batting order.

Based on what I saw in that inning, Everth Cabrera doesn’t have any heart. In fact, I’d say that Headley, Venable, and Kouzmanoff have no heart.

I would have put in Kelly Johnson. He is the fastest man on the roster with McLouth out. I also think it would have been very close one way or the other, but worth the try for the win.

I suppose the fact that they did not run on Loaf means that their announcers, who were describing how bad Loaf plays in the field, must not talk to the players and coaches on the Padres. By now, anyone not aware of Loaf in the field has to be blind.

Paul Lentz

August 26th, 2009
7:36 pm

Pete………why would Bobby pinch run for McCann in the bottom of the 9th, but not Garret? Given Garret’s ailments, I actually feel that McCann is more a fleet of foot than Garret is at this point of the season.

One bad move can change the course of a game.

I play a lot of no-limit poker tournaments. One can play well for hours and build a nice stack of chips. However, if you misplay one hand, it can cost you the tournament. When you play poker, you have to be focused every single hand. On slip and you could be busted.

I feel that this Braves team loses it’s focus at times.

Meanwhile……………..NICE GOING McCANN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! McCann is falling in love with the 3-run jack.

Even tough Chipper is struggling, the Padres pitched him so carefully that he walked him on 4 pitches. Meanwhile, McCann comes to the plate and gets a hold of one.

I have been adamant on keeping both Chipper and McCann in the #3 and #4 spots in the order.

Actually Prado is the thing that happen here. We put Prado in and made him the starting second baseman and brough LaRoach back. The team started to win. Then Prado got hurt, Church got hurt, Anderson got hurt and here you go. Back in the lineup goes Johnson, and some rookie who has no power. We need strong hitters and we just dont have that. Chipper is not the hitter he used to be and he hurts this team now more then helps. I am sick of seeing him go o for and he has done that a lot lately. We have some strength but not enough.

I hope in this off season the braves dump Lowe, and KK and start the season with Hudson, Hanson, Jurrjens, Vazquez and Medlin. Lowe is not a ace and KK is ok but the other guys are better. So trade those two pitchers and get some hitting. We need a outfield and a bench. Norton hitting 150 is not a bench. Good players filled in with trash does not make a good team.

McFann,

I fully expect B-Mac to lead the club in RBI’s this year. I also expect him to lead or be 2nd in HR to LaRoache.

I had brian penciled in for 20+HR, 35+ Doubles and 85+RBI when the season started.
