chilidog, between D-Lowe’s 15 million and Chipper’s extension, people may be pining for Mike Hampton’s contract by the time the 2011 season ends.
After all, all people had to complain about Hampton was his not being available. Imagine had he been available and sucked? How ugly would that have been?

I would rather the Braves be a tease and get to watch some exciting games in August and September, than have the season be over in May. And I never ever root against my team. Apparently that’s just me, though.
But yeah, when games matter more, the losses hurt more. And this is pretty painful.

jackets77……..your 9:30pm post miscategorizes what I was saying. I DO NOT want to see Norton pinch hitting at any time. I was just tying to put a “positive” spin on him already being used because I know that Bobby Cox is hellbent on using Norton as his #1 pinch hitter off the bench.

Of course, the only starter without a hit is Chipper Jones. I hope to God we rid ourselves of him after this year. Sign Derosa to play 3B or just put Infante there. He is done. The Braves are getting swept tomorrow.

I think the hitters kinda wanted to win this one, but the pitching staff obviously got together and decided they just couldn’t be bothered tonight.
Sweep is getting closer and closer;all the fault of the dumb punks who were on here touting the Braves over the Pads. Baseball gods hate hubris and stomp on it whenever they find it. Some folks just never learn though.

any word as to which Braves have passed waivers if this play continues into the weekend and the Braves decide to peddle a few assets. Maybe an AL team needing a DH would go for Loaf. What kind of ransom would be available for Gonzo or Soriano or Vazquez if the Braves get swept by the Pads?
If the Braves get swept by the Pads and fall out of contention I wonder if the Braves will look around and see if they think they can get a deal better than in the offseason or better than draft pick compensation?
I was hoping the anti-DOB praise curse would work here but as I was typing I watched McCann loose the ball trying to throw to second followed by an RBI single off of Acosta’s glove. Maybe I just need to post this to turn our luck

Do you realize the disadavantage the Braves are at playing in front of crowds like these? Braves fans make these important games seem like spring training games; sitting on their hands, not knowing when to clap, and generally being unaware of what is happening on the field. I was at a game two weeks ago and started clapping loudly for a strikeout in the first and the people around me looked at me like I was crazy. Unreal. That said, this is an embarrassing way to end the season.

Honestly, I tuned out for a few innings and it was 3-0 Braves. When I turned it back on KK was in trouble and it was 4-3 Padres. Then, EOF self-imploded and made it worse. Now, Manny is making it horrific.

and Ryan Howard hits a bomb. Ballgame in Pittsburgh…..8 games out now. I get to watch Lowe against Cliff Lee in Philly on Saturday, can’t wait to see that shelling.
Might as well give Chipper’s ass the day off tomorrow. I mean, if they lost the first two against the Pad’s with him going hitless, might as well get him two days rest and at least give him a shot at catching up with a fastball over the weekend.

The Phillies could put the finishing touches on ending our play-off chances this weekend. If that is the case, then perhaps the Phillies would be interested in giving the Braves a top prospect for either Soriano or Gonzalez.
The Phillies will make the play-offs. However without a reliable closer, they wont advance past the first round. If they are going to make a trade, they have to do it before Monday evening. You know that they have to be concerned about Lidge.

Acostus strikes again. No idea why he is still on the team. No idea why Bobby would give up on the game so early, but maybe he realizes the offense sucks and wasn’t coming back anyways!?!
Greg Norton also strikes again, another key at bat, another crucial situation, and he does nothing. Why the heck is he still on the team?
Matt Diaz and Loaf comprise the worst two LF/RF combos in the history of baseball. Those two look like Manny and Adam Dunn playing the outfield, just awful.

Well this is it. We are what 8 games back in the division and now about to be 6 back in the wild card. I think its time to start with the kids and see what happens. We arent going to make the playoffs and to continue the season without these kids getting some major league experience before next year will be a big mistake. I think it is sad to have lost two games in a row to the padres when we are in a playoff hunt. Bobby making poor managerial decisions makes me livid.
We had prado and anderson start yesterday when they havent played in a week. Any body who has common sense knows that they were going to be rusty. So, you start the guys that have been playing and if you get a lead then you bring those guys back into the lineup. You ease them back. I mean geez it was obvious when prado went O for 6 last night. It just amazes me that these people make all this money to be leaders and decision makers and they cant do any better than that. I think they need to make up some kind of reality show and let a blogger be a manager for a week.
