Hey DOB, what do you think about Keb Mo’s music?
I feel a walk coming on.
WTF!! NORTON…again!! i’m sick of his ass!!
August 26th, 20099:19 pm
You’re welcome jeffrey!
They’re still the Padres for F’s sake.
I’ll take as many errors as they want to give us.
Greg Norton……………………… please
N8: Buy a dog, something to give you the attention you deserve.
Padres reliever Adam Russell leads the NL with a .934 “urgencey quotient”
Brandon from Warner Robins
DOB @ 9:17 that was a good one.
Bah… wrong part of the park.
Where the F was that?
Brooklyn Braves Brawler
Would have rather had KJ up than Norty there.
August 26th, 20099:20 pm
not even warning track power. Not impressive
Norton up with 2 outs in a clutch situation…..unfortunately, I know how this ends.
Well, we got one. A couple more chances as long as we don’t fubar this next inning too.
What diet plan is Tony Gwynn on ? Looks like he’s lost about 300 pounds.
DOB. Please tell us that Cox needs to go. You have waited way too long. Is there anyone with sanity out there?
DOB (August 26th, 2009 8:55 pm) “So you go dig on Anka. I’ll take a little Gamble-and-Huff Philly soul anytime, i.e. the Intruders, the O’Jays, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes.”
I don’t think nobody here’s “diggin’ on Anka”. (Except maybe TnBrian.
Just sayin’ that “When Will I See You Again?” is just every single bit as sappy as “Havin’ My Baby” — and ever so more so.
Makin’ no other judgments about any other songs by anybody els, for example “the Intruders, the O’Jays, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes” — just them two songs.
They both sappy.
Norton really doesn’t have anywhere near the power he had a year ago. Whether that’s from getting older, losing weight in the offseason, I don’t know.
August 26th, 20099:21 pm
David Pollack in broadcasting.
i didn’t know fubar could be used as a verb… but I like it!
Are you saying that wasn’t a spot for an important pinch hit? Where’s your sense of urgency?
nolie……….scoring 1 run in 12 innings against a bad pitching staff isnt indicative of a team trying to win every game (Paul L)
that’s just fan emotion talking. I played, coached and scouted and those things happen to teams at all levels. Teams do not think like fans do. They are attempting to win every game, as is the other team too dude. The best team in baseball loses 60 games and every one of them is to a weaker team if they are the best. It is the way baseball was designed. It ain’t like football or basketball where yo have teams with 80 or 90% win rates. The basis of the entire game involves a very high failure rate for all teams.
Now granted a really bad team can get knocked around so much that they more or less get to feeling that they can’t win much of anything, but any reasonably successful team is out there attempting to win every game. 40-50% of the time they aren’t gonna succeed, usually no matter what team they are playing.
All that live or die game to game crap is strictly fan baggage. That’s what fans are all about, after all it comes from fanatic
I’d rather have a cat up than Norton
jeffrey d………I guess that the 4th inning of last week’s game on Tuesday and offensive “lay down” after the 3rd inning against the Mets “doesnt count” as “uninspiring” either?
Our lineup is very weak. Unless lots of significant changes are made, gonna be weak next year too.
The writing is on the wall folks…
I wouldn’t expect any other come back than that from you DOB.
After all, you’re the blog-master. When you think somebody is wrong, you rip on them. Yet far too often, within a week or so, you’ve got a blog headlined on stuff the bloggers have been griping about.
Rather than actually converse about the subject, or better yet (GASP) apologize, and say something along the lines of “You know what? It appears you might have been right. Chipper does look lost out there, despite his over all numbers” (which you threw in my face when arguing why he wasn’t “slowing down”).
But no. You tell me to buy a dog, thus avoiding the whole conversation.
Canadaian braves fan
can someone please explain why Norton is still on this roster
Chop It Up All-Star
Cassidy Hubbarth, yes I will be watching..wow!!
My name is Greg, and I’m in recovery for rally killing (sorry, it comes from my Celebrate Recovery group).
I like everything about that Cassidy Hubbard. I may watch Gridiron Live just for her.
It seems like I ask this every game….why the $%@@ is Norton up there in a key pinch hitting spot again????? Does his avg have to drop below .100 for Cox to realize that he can’t hit this year?? Schultz told me in the other blog that its because the braves have nobody else….wtf…someone, anyone from the minors would be better that this…conrad? ANYONE BUT NORTON! DAMN…that could have been a big inning with a competant hitter..
Look at it this way, we don’t have the thought of Norton pinch hitting again hanging over our heads for the rest of the game.
Yet another reason not to care about the Braves.
Greg Norton. The Padres would probably cut him.
It doesn’t make sense. It’s bad business.
August 26th, 20099:22 pm
Moylan would have had a more productive at-bat than stupid Norton did
RHR – why the frown at Pollack broadcasting? Because he’s not a good announcer or because he should be playing football?
CrimeDog: With Norton at the plate, it’s a walk alright – back to the dugout.
I like David Pollack. Sucks that he can’t play football anymore.
Greg norton..why even bother to tell something about the guy…seriously Cox has reach a new low on this one…
This just came to me
Time to adopt the Cubs way of life?
Anyone have a plausible explanation for why Greg Norton is still wearing an MLB uni?
Does Greg Norton have pictures of Bobby Cox with a farm animal?
Hey, Greg. I think its time to hang em up. I hear they might be looking for an assistant manager in Visalia next year.
August 26th, 20099:23 pm
You people here are…without doubt…the biggest azzes I have ever seen. Get behind “Our” Bravios !!!
Do we have NO one else available other than Acosta?
Greg’s not in recovery….he’s in relapse
Peavey – best deal never made, sounds like he may be done
August 26th, 20099:24 pm
Hey Greg, Denver has got to be a nicer place to live in August than the ATL!!
Do we not have anyone else in the entire organization that can bat in most crucial part of every single game? MY GOD. I can’t believe this…Over N over. I give up Bi%$ing about this, they will NEVER learn.
Bring out the haters.
bravesgrl4life you wouldnt happen to live in the middle GA area would ya?
Wow leave for a while and come back to this sh1t ……. so dissapointing i cant see us making the playoffs with this kind of play should have been a easy 3 gm sweep its so fustrating
Ok… I would rather have Greg Norton on this team than Manny Acosta… there I said it.
Somebody said something about a team having heart. San Diego does
wow….have we just given up 8 runs to the padres?…really?
jeffrey d -
Don’t worry Boss……you won’t find me here with my playoff rotation proposals. Promise ya that!
WOW. I haven’t gotten to the part of the blog from during this game, on page 6 now… but I bet it’s holy hell up ahead. Think I’ll quit while I’m ahead. Hang tight y’all, it really ain’t quit as bad as it seems….but SEASON!!!!
Okay, friends, I’m outta here. I can’t watch any more. I don’t like blood.
Good night. Good night to any hopes of this season going our way.
Schultz told me in the other blog that its because the braves have nobody else
If that’s the case the Braves farm system is in serious trouble if there’s no one playing better than Norton.
Are we playing the Bronx Bombers?
CrimeDog………dude, do you really think that I want to see Norton up there pinch hitting “at any time”? I know that we needed a clutch pinch hit here.
However, knowing that Bobby loves going to him, I would rather see Bobby use him in the 6th and get him out of the way……then save him for the 8th or 9th inning.
Meanwhile, I think that Manny Acosta is in danger of getting sent down to the Minors. Acosta has been inconsistent. Just a terrible pitch.
And BObby’s other buddy comes in to put gas on the fire. Pitiful.
unbeleivable what a let down
Doing the same thing over and over and over..hoping for different results..it hasnt work cox..what does he do??…he keeps insisting..geez…
hahah 8-4 against the worst team . really great
August 26th, 20099:25 pm
wow congrats to the braves.. u wonder why people dont show up. this is why…. completely shamefull and embarrassing. this team is a joke..
I’ve been saying the Braves have no heart or sense of urgency since ‘97….but who the heck listens to me.
Greg Norton, Manny Acosta, Kelly Johnson, Reed Gorecki, Eric O’Flaherty should not be on this team.
our team shows no urgency to take advantage of this 3 gm series with the last place padres
Oh, I missed Uh-Cost-Us coming in. That explains the homer.
Oh yeah, we fubarred it.
Yikes, to deep center.
There’s always tommorrow, although that’s what I said yesterday!
This one’s ugly. Acosta’s such a disappointment this season. Can’t imagine them counting on him again whatsoever for next year….
CaliChopper: Only got one of Keb Mo’s CDs, and that was about a decade ago. But I liked it, still have it.
This has to be a low point in the season for the Braves, giving up 8 runs to a horrible Padres offense at home.
Atta boy Acosta, serve one up for the russian space program…
chris from md
Trust me on this one– Carlye up tomorrow; Acosta to Gwinnett.
Chris from MD
Frank Wren knows pitching.
Frank Wren does NOT know hitting.
If Norton is not in danger of being sent down, no one on this team is!
August 26th, 20099:26 pm
Acosta appears to have some ability, he just needs to learn how / when to use his pitches.
All those clamoring as to why Cox doesn’t use Acosta more …
You’ve just been given exhibit A from Mr. Kouzmanoff.
Steve from OH
Just a gritty, emotion-filled, performance by San Diego. One word for y’all. Heart.
(Not the band, the organ.)
Frank Wren knows pitching? Was he asleep at the wheel when Bennett was here?
RIP ATLANTA BRAVES SEASON
AUGUST 26TH (WHEN NORTON PITCH HIT WITH ANY CLUTH SITUATION ON THE LINE, AND WHEN MANNY ACOSTA THROWS ANYTHING BUT A STRAIGHT FASTBALL)
PIRATES TIED THE GAME FOR CONSOLATION
if we lose tonight its just another nail in the coffin for us… Wild Card is looking farther and farther away
August 26th, 20099:27 pm
This is a bad thing happening and sounds like another bad loss, but the season is far from over. Braves are still in it. They do need a sense of urgency, but it’s not time to hang the boots up yet. If they are playing like this in a week or two, then claim it’s over, because it would be over then.
Not only are the Braves not going to sweep the Pads as expected coming into this series, the Braves are on the verge of being swept.
Turn out the lights, the party’s over,
They say all good things must come to an end. . .
Acosta needs to be honing his “abilities” in AA or AAA
I’ve tried to remain optimistic during this entire season of ups and downs, but, I’m sorry, when Greg Norton is your prime pinch hitter in clutch situations, you are not a playoff-caliber team.
There is NO EXCUSE for this BULL$H&T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These team has looked ASLEEP the last two nights
How did they score two more?
Look at that dugout! Pitiful!
Can someone cue coach Jim Mora?
August 26th, 20099:28 pm
That’s Jim Mora Sr. Not Jr. No way Jr.
This game defines the Braves season. A heartless bunch of losers who don’t care about winning.
“Trust me on this one– Carlye up tomorrow; Acosta to Gwinnett.”
I sure hope so.
Frank Wren will be a busy man this off-season…again!.
