I can say that I have stuck with these braves all year with all the fair weather fans always putting them down but i am now agreeing with them. this is the biggest group of undefachievers in the league and im sick of watching it. football season cant come soon enough. thanks for another disappointment bravos
ahh yes, I forgot why I don’t usually stay on the blog during games. You’d think the world was coming to an end.
Be careful GA! Don’t get dirty!

Never have understood why all the admiration for Bobby Cox The man gets his team in a position to challenge for a wild card. Then, just like the old days, he cannot get them motivated to beat one of the worst two or three teams in the majors…the PADRES. For crying out loud, this old man must think the only games that count are the ones against the contenders?! I am so sick of his poor game management skills and inability to get the most out of a player. He leaves it up to them to play well. The total antithesis of Billy Martin. And his coaches are pretty weak and non-expressive (like Terry Pendleton). No aggressiveness, no spirit, just that coy attitude of “Chipper” who bats .300 consistently (unless there is someone in scoring position). Unreal.
Paul Lentz: “Pete………why would Bobby pinch run for McCann in the bottom of the 9th, but not Garret?”
Again I understand your arguement about running for GA, but not for one of the reasons you stated, which was to stay out of a potential double play.
“The most runs scored in an inning this season for the Padres!”
“The most hits in an inning in Mets franchise history!”
too bad the rain couldn’t come before this inning
Somebody will surely tell me to lay off O’Flaherty and try to defend him but I’m sorry, this guy has never been good.
I’ve never seen anything from him to be impressed with. That was one of the worst relief appearances I’ve seen in years.
There have been many, it was just one but just about as bad as it gets.
I’m sure that Frank Wren will address the lack of quality defense in the corner outfield positions in the off season.
For the first time, I’m in favor of Tim Hudson returning to the rotation when he is activated. Might as well audition him so they can decide what to do with him in the off season. Improving the lack of power and defense in the outfield is a MUST by Frank Wren.
Thank goodness Moylan pitched with a sense of urgency…
Of course, it may be too late to rescue us from O’Flaherty’s sense of disurgency…
it will be great to have someone who can actually play defense in LF next season
Look at that! An out!

Finally, and end to the slaughter. Come on Braves – GET SOME DAMN RUNS!!! Man, tryin to clean up my language and they’ve got me cussin’ again.
Peter Moylan told me to tell you thanks for the props, Jim.
Didn’t John Smoltz dominate this team just last week?
True Braves Fans
Pads double up on the Braves before I even get home? What have you guys been doing?
August 26th, 20099:09 pm
Why is it that every starter we face has an ERA of 5 to 6 but looks like a world beater against the Braves.
Paul, why bring Hudson back and risk getting re-injured ? Season is done, let him pitch next year.
Well looks like baseball season is over for me. Two preseason football games left until the real season starts. Go Colts.
If the Braves get swept in this series, Bobby shouldn’t be allowed in the clubhouse on Friday.
Pathetic display of being prepared to compete, is what this is.
Wow…that was bad. And yeah, not sure how Church gets the error on that…
August 26th, 20099:10 pm
I wouldn’t be upset if the Braves got rid of Chipper. He’s old and going downhill fast.
Historical week for the Braves!
This just came to me
Atlanta Braves = Lucy van Pelt
Atlanta Braves Fans = Charlie Brown
You can figure the rest out…
Looks like T’Hawkin might be having one of his B/F’s again tonight.
What’s happening? I’m watching the Little Leaguers.
Martin Prado on a Motorola RazR from 2B
Did ya see that, Steve? I got the Coors Light Freeze Cam play of the game.
6 for 8 with RISP all in this inning and its still not over. and of course another team comes in here sets a team high for the yr .. forget it i am not wasting my money to drive to philly and watch this junk.. unrealll.. way to go atlanta . these 2 games just cost you ur season.. 6.5 back after tonight congrats to a lineup that sucks..
I feel bad for you DOB having to follow this wonderful team. That was a joke. We already scored for our one inning of the night so we done for. I want to say we will come back and win……not gonna happen. Night all be on later to see what Cox has to say about this one.
August 26th, 20099:11 pm
Who’s gonna be the first to say “so are we!”?
Martin Prado on a Motorola RazR from the dugout
oh wait, I’m in the dugout, not 2B. My bad.
Brooklyn Braves Brawler
Biography Channel has a biography on Metallica that looks interesting. Better than the game for sure.
The Braves just have no heart. They don’t win games when they have to. This team doesn’t have the heart of a champion.
Be careful Chuck UGa. You may tick off the many Bobby Cox lovers on this blog with your negativity about the old wife beater.
August 26th, 20099:12 pm
The little leaguers could beat this crappy Braves team I bet.
Error (properly) changed to McCann, not Church, in sixth.
All runs still earned in that inning.
And our boy strikes out. Damn.
The Braves have lost all credibility in the attendance arguement.
Who the @#$% is going to pay their money to watch that #$%&.
F that. I haven’t been to a game since June… amazingly, it was a loss… but they’re not getting me back with that horses*** play.
I was starting to feel bad last night but certainly not anymore.
No, because Little Leaguers score runs.
We will see if these guys have any heart. No way in hell should these games even been close for crying out loud.
Can’t expect KK to win. He wins on an average of just over once a month, and he already one in August.
I think this dud they just brought in is a Hall of Famer, or at least we will make him look like one.
Tiger Woods -
This is just his job. He’s a Royals fan….at heart.
AAAGH!! What’d you do that for??
I feel bad for you DOB having to follow this wonderful team.
LOL Oh please.
August 26th, 20099:13 pm
Seriously, any team that looks this pathetic against the Padres should not even for a second believe they have a shot at the playoffs. The Braves sure know how to disappoint people don’t they? Thankfully the NFL season will start soon, because I have had enough of these losers we call the Atlanta Braves. For me, here is the new Tomahawk Chop.
No No No Oh Oh Oh, No, No, No, Oh, Oh, Oh. What a pathetic excuse for a team these Braves are. I won’t even waste my time or money watching these losers next season. I may turn their game on if its on free TV, but no more paying good money to watch them completely fall on their faces. BTW, Tell Eric O’ Flaherty when he sticks his fingers in his mouth after getting the ball back to go a little further and make sure they get stuck.
What does it matter what the Braves do with Tim Hudson? We should be eliminated by the time he returns anyway. He can start a bunch of meaningless September games against other team’s minor leaguers.
LLWS is awesome to watch. Rooting for the team from San Antonio Tx. Went to high school there
Hey Brian… Your boy Anderson is 2 for 2 tonight with no walks. You must be dissappointed.
Soph – I have to ask…is it “sof” like sophomore, or “soaf” like “Sophie”?
Coxlover……there is NO WAY that Frank Wren would consider picking up Hudson’s $12 mil 2010 option unless they see him pitch in September. That would be economic suicide.
here we go and this braves team are wannabee’s and pretenders. playoff teams dont allow a team thats going absolutely nowheres to score 6 runs in an inning.. the pressure is on the braves and look what it is doing to them.. putting them where they belong…
I know I wouldn’t want to pay good money in an economy like this to see performances like this… Awful. I might be inclined to ask for a refund.
August 26th, 20099:14 pm
“That’s a 1-for-30 skid for Chipper over 10 games, with one RBI. DOB
Yet, when a week or so ago, when I stated that I thought he was “slowing down” a bit and beginning to break down, you mocked me for stating just that.
Hmmm? I guess it only took 4 or 5 more games for it become “news worthy”, huh?
Yunel “hearts” one out to right. On the slo-mo replay you can relay see him “urgencify” all the way through the ball.
Rally coming, I hope. Yunel got a good one, and now it’s time for Roach to get his heat on again.
It amazes me how most of the “regular” posters aren’t around, but there’s a buncha new names popping-up bashing away. At least when I criticize I do it under my own name, bashed or not…
Moylan has been lights out since the All Star break. ERA down to 3.09 and will be under 3 pretty shortly. Not a bad effort after the start he had in his first few games. Gotta give credit to this bloke for really stepping up after surgery last year, mammoth effort
Ah, and still at .287…what do you know? I was wrong again…
The Braves just have no heart. They don’t win games when they have to. This team doesn’t have the heart of a champion. – Coxlover
I said this in May hoping it would turn around.
These last 4 innings will determine if the Braves have it in them to play with a “sense of urgency”.
Mac can’t hit those high fastballs.
Ben Hill's Own
Who deleted my post? Chipper isn’t on the up-and-up, trust me.
Chipper is a DH in 2010
August 26th, 20099:15 pm
This is the worst hitting lineup the Braves have had in 19 years.
and not one single home run given up this year by moylan
If the Braves come back, I don’t want to see any of you Armageddoners cheering. Because apparantly the season ended in the top of the 6th.
That was good. We’ll take it however we can get it.
They teased us into late August this year. Kawakami is still a 5 inning pitcher. Man I hate that they spoiled us during the 90’s, I feel soooooooo ……… (fill inthe blank)
jeffrey – Soph like Sophie/Sophia.
August 26th, 20099:16 pm
Double steal so they can pitch to NO(hit)rton
Tell Joe Simpson to say “Rare Error” 3x fast
OK Church time to kill the rally.
lol Crime Dog. Bobby Cox really inspired Esco to “heart” that one out there. And he instilled that sense of urgency in LaRoche to run that one out.
Way to go Bobby!
Steve from OH
Still ain’t goin’ on the mug, Marteen.
i got excited and got sucked back in, too, but these braves are done…..you can’t lose two out of three to the lowly padres when trying to make the playoffs…………maybe next year.
Hard to believe the Braves have given up 6 runs to the worst offensive team in MLB !!!!!!!!!
God these guys are slow.
That was a favorable call.
I see the Shark on deck…this baby ain’t over people !!!
August 26th, 20099:17 pm
Norton will save the day. Ole Bobby has the answer with him.
Has NO(hit)rton gotten hit August hit yet?
Braves 70, think of what a hitting tear KJ will go on once we are eliminated.
N8: Buy a dog, something to give you the attention you deserve.
Chipper and his 6 RBI in his last 21 games, almost has no business hitting in the 3-hole right now. Sad, but true.
jeffrey d -
Even if the Braves come back tonight… would you still be inspired by this team? Seriously?
Thanks Soph…just wanted to make sure I was saying it right in my head
Lets Go Braves !!!!!!!!!
Churchy! I like, I like.
leave the puter for 5 min and look what happens….. shoulda came back with more urgency, this ones on me….
Oh they won’t be back, jeffrey d… until the next time the Braves don’t have a lead in a game.
Way to go Church
Chop It Up All-Star
August 26th, 20099:18 pm
Nice to see a little fight in this team – keep it going!! Oh wait, here comes Greg Norton.
Good Job Churchy, way to come through
This would be a huge win if we can comeback.
Okay, I’ll stick with the game now. Good hitting by Church. I’ll have to take BP drugs if they keep this s*it up.
I predict…a walk.
Shamus, I’m here. These past two days have been an abject waste. I agree with Chipper DH: this is a pretty horrible hitting lineup. Can’t even blame TP, can’t make filet mignon out out bullsh!t.
Great Norton is up…im going to put the kids to bed, im sure i wont miss anything
3/4 of this team should be replaced by next season, and most of not all the coaching staff. Fire Cox and replace him with Ned Yost. Get rid of McDowell and replace him with either Mazzone or Maddux. Get rid of Pendleton and replace him with anyone that has a clue. The only coaches I would care if they stayed or left is Hubbard and Perez.
This team needs a complete shakeup. Bobby Cox has run his course and has worn out his welcome. This team needs a pick me up and it will never happen as long as Cox is here. When a manager puts a guy in to pitch hit with the game on the line whose BA is lower then the price of a candy bar (Norton) then its time to go because you obviously can’t make a smart decision.
Fire Cox Now. Anyone that will bring Norton up in this situation is an absolute fool. He obviously has some pics of the old fool.
A single to right center – why the hell didn’t LaRoche score from first?
Uh-oh, blog descending into no-props territory, LOL.
But a final props to RHR for, well, clueing me in to how much fun “props” are, LOL. And a final, final props to VJ for “disurgency”. I like it, I’m stealing it.
More props to give tomorrow, so tune in then.
Even if the Braves come back tonight… would you still be inspired by this team? Seriously?
ummm….yes. They’re 7 games over .500 and have been one of the top teams since the All Star Break. One clumsy inning and one bad game yesterday isn’t going to change that.
Inning over. At least Norton will be out of the way by the end of this inning. I’d rather see someone else come up later when we need an important pinch hit.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
