If I knew, 10 minutes ago, that Chipper would be intentionally walked, surely Bobby had to, right?
But he still had Omar bunting? Trying to give up an out? So David Ross can win the game —- make him a genius, Rossy!

The first time I ever saw David Ross was in spring training, watching him launch a homer to left off Oswalt.

Just get a hit Rossy.

Why walk Chipper? He hasn’t had a clutch hit since the Carter (as Governor) Admininstration.

Now a slow bounching ball over the head of a corner infielder. on an accidental check swing

Phillies have a serious problem with Lidge. He’s suddenly turned into the Brad Lidge that the Astros were happy to give a fresh start elsewhere. That lead of their’s isn’t so safe. if he can’t get it together.

The Bird and The Indian:

Every game matters at this point. So yes, you do. Vazquez is a stud athlete. He is fine. Alternatively, Kawakami could work if you prefer that. The Braves must sweep this series. They need to win 2 of 3 for the rest of the year, and since they won’t do that against the Phillies and Marlins for the entire year, they need to build some reserves by sweeping chumps like the Padres.

Steve from OH,

He was put in as a pinch runner at second in the series at Texas. There was a line drive off the wall. He acted like a squirrel in traffic — headed to third, then back to second, then tried to score when he saw the ball wasn’t caught. He was out by 20 feet. Granted, it was a tough read for even an experienced baserunner, since the left fielder’s back screened the vision of a runner between second and third.
Sox made up for it by scoring nine runs after that, though.

Herschel Talker: Kawakami is no faster than Garrett Anderson. Javy wouldn’t have scored from first either. Nate, Diaz, and KJ are the only ones that would have had a shot at scoring there. You don’t risk trying to run your best pitcher 270 feet at full speed when it doesn’t gain you but 5 feet at most. You said every game counts and I agree, that’s why I want Javy pitching every 5 games instead of Kris Medlen.
