Norris–nope, just Paul Lentz. Not the blog in general. Just Paul.
PS–chill out and vent? Oxymoronic…
The second-most important game of the night just got underway…
August 25th, 20098:45 pm
cool steve. I understand with Paul. He is weird.
latos now praise famous men..
i just want to thank everybody here … in all seriousness … i work nights mostly, and watching the game is frowned upon where I work … so, what do I do? i continually refresh this blog, and am able to follow the game just as well … i keep the game-tracker on as well, but when things slow down there, or something happens that the game-tracker doesn’t illustrate, I can always count on you guys … thanks again!
Why is it that th Braves allow average pitchers to shut them down time after time?
August 25th, 20098:46 pm
According to wikipedia, the guys name is Matthew Latos, so its technically NOT his parents fault he spells his name with one ‘t’. For what thats worth…
Good thing Loaf didn’t have to move too far
vent and chill out….. healthier
August 25th, 20098:47 pm
Dodgers up 1-0 in the 1st.
August 25th, 20098:48 pm
Middle of the lineup…let’s do something here guys.
August 25th, 20098:49 pm
We’re going to score here….I’m feelin’ it!
third time looking at the Pads pitcher, and the Braves do nothing different from the 1st two times.
DOB It would appear the Braves are Latos-intolerant….
Ow…ow ow ow…
We can agree on that one Norris, LOL! Weird…is a bit nice, but hey, you’re probably nicer than me too.
August 25th, 20098:50 pm
JJ’s cruising now. He could probably go another inning. Good comeback after his long, 26 pitch first inning. The dude is a stud.
Now let’s score some runs for him!
August 25th, 20098:51 pm
That’s the third or fourth time they have started the inning with that shot… at least the SS guys are good at their jobs… Which is more than I can say about the Braves offense tonight.
OK, Chipper, BMac, Anderson…hmm.
Well, BMac had the good game on Sunday, but he’s been having trouble putting together a few good games in a row…Chipper, don’t know what’s wrong with him…
August 25th, 20098:52 pm
i can’t even believe this is happening tonight. big game. knowing we can gain ground. after a day off. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
If a moral victory for you is a walk why in the hell to you keep swing at the first pitch………..damn chipper
christina who? I am unfimiliar with this name…
August 25th, 20098:53 pm
Wow, we suck
Like I said…
August 25th, 20098:54 pm
so chipper is tired … work maybe 3 hrs a day
wow we are 7 innings in and a rookie is shutting us out.. against the freakin san diego padres.. come on..
We are just getting embarrassed by a rookie on an awful team. He is making our batters look stupid.
August 25th, 20098:55 pm
From the manager, all the way down to the lowly Ed Norton, there’s no inspirational leader on this team
This is starting to get pathetic. Lucky for us that Jair Jurrjens is keeping us in the game.
Yeah, .285 now…he just can’t seem to get it to go up and stay up!
August 25th, 20098:56 pm
1. Go to Hooters after game
2. Chew another piece of gum
3. Swing at first pitch
If GA doesn’t hit a HR here… the game is over
Paul, I’m waiting…
August 25th, 20098:57 pm
Latos are not to be latrifled with.
Man this pitcher just beat the Braves on Aug. 3, pitching 7 innings of 6 hit 2 run baseball.
Tonight anothr gem agaist our Atlanta Braves.
At least he worked the count a little bit…. but in the end, he’s just making up for Chipper swinging at the first pitch, so the net result is another easy inning.
Braves are in a hurry to lose. Game is 15 minutes shy of 2 hours and we’re already in the 8th! Yikes.
August 25th, 20098:58 pm
Move on Steve. Like to Ohio
This is pitiful. If you’re serious about making the playoffs, you don’t let the second-worst team in the league and some no-name thug come into your house and shut you out.
Two more innings to go, Bravos. Wake the *&#! up!!!!
Chipper now 1-for-27 with one RBI in his past nine games.
Something tells me he will be out of the lineup tomorrow, Infante at 3B, Church in CF.
getting 2 hitted by a rookie and one of the worst teams in the league wow… just awful..a chance to make some ground up against a bad team and we are losing.. love adrian gonzalez but hes the best player on that team and the only one.. the day off made them leave there game and the bats home..
August 25th, 20098:59 pm
better get a run next inning. bell is pretty tough. EMBARRASSING
Where did Jurrjens4CY go?
No More, No More Bobby
obvously this lack of offense is all bobby’s fault, why doesn’t he teach them how to hit??
Here’s a good PSA for teens (or anyone doing it) about texting and driving.
Somebody in our dugout should be cussing and throwing things! And preferably breaking stuff!
August 25th, 20099:00 pm
Refresh, DANGIT! Did you eat my post??
Rockies and Phillies losing.
That was a generous strike three call for the first out of the 8th.
and why the heck hasn’t jeff321 been on here hatin, there’s plenty of hatin to be had right now…
August 25th, 20099:01 pm
Yep, you sure did.
I’m really bored. When does the game start?
If anyone thought this is a playoff team, this game is proof they’re not. It is inexcusable what is going on tonight. They are being 2-hit by a freakin rookie on the second worst team in the league. Playoff caliber teams come out and go for the juggiler against these type teams. What do the Braves do, they sleepwalk, unforgivable.
Chipper better be off the team come next season.
JJ might be the best bad (record) pitcher in baseball …
August 25th, 20099:02 pm
Latos hasn’t pitched more than seven innings in any of his seven starts.
Braves are first team he’s faced a second time. Would also be the first he’s beaten twice, obviously.
Dan Kolb's Mom
ok time for a 5 run eighth.
Atlanta Braves baseball…..Playing without a sense of urgency since 1996.
August 25th, 20099:03 pm
Shamus – dugout is yours, tear it up, just don’t wake up Bobby
This game is 1 out of 162. It is proof of nothing, other than Mat Latos is dealing through 7 innings, Jurrjens through 8.
Does anybody disagree that Bobby can’t inspire a team, even a little?
August 25th, 20099:04 pm
This is more pathetic than our normal patheticness, I really feel for the poor people who actually paid for tickets to see this mess. We are what we have been for the past three years, a mediocre, slightly over .500 team. We just happened to bundle a year’s worth of wins over the past 2 months.
Shamus Thacker –
This is why I’ve never liked their “not too high…not too low” approach they’ve adopted long ago.
No broken coolers
We can beat Santana and Lincecum but can’t hit Latos.
August 25th, 20099:05 pm
Thought that was what he does when he gets kicked from a game…?
This game has playoff implications, and we’re playing it like we’re 20-games out.
The Braves need to get better offensively next year, too. So, let’s stop worrying about the Padres.
August 25th, 20099:06 pm
JJ’s doing his job. Gotta give it to him…..and get him some runs!
Mixxo, pretty sure I saw on Baseball Tonight Derek Lowe throw a cooler in the dugout after he was taken out Sunday.
Jair may be running out of gas right now. He’s up to 112 pitches.
Alright, time to take out JJ.
August 25th, 20099:07 pm
Mixxo – but hey the pitchers are learning to give the position players snotty looks, does that count?
Well, I haven’t seen him stand on the dugout railing and give an inspiring soliloquy in a while…
“They can take our bats, but they can never take our…sense of urgency!”
smart move Bobby
JJ can’t be frustrated with himself…he has to be frustrated with his teammates.
Head up JJ. Not your fault we’re not hitting this bum.
August 25th, 20099:08 pm
Rockies and Phils down currently
can the pen hold or will they put it out of reach ….
Maybe the pitchers should start swinging rather than bunting since they already doing all of the work anyway
August 25th, 20099:09 pm
Someone give Chipper a Hooters discount card, that’s his Mecca. He needs to get refocused!
Actually, it counts for a lot! Glad to see it too.
So once again, maybe an opportunity to pick up ground, but nooooooooooooooo
Everyone except JJ deserves a big
Bobby’s the one who should be cussing and throwing things; show a little passion dammitt…
Chipper will be the first one giving a quote tonight after the game.
August 25th, 20099:10 pm
Amazing what announcers say– “JJ just frustrated with himself”. Are you kidding me? His team scores no runs, and he has to pitch around a lazy left fielder adding base runners and more pitches to his pitch count.
Poor JJ. Feel for him.
Since we’re blaming outside factors other than the players themselves on this offensive showing, I’ll go with blaming the fans. After all, this is a game with playoff implications and there’s only 15,000 in the stands. It’s the fans who are to blame for not firing this team up. Or maybe, just maybe, it’s the players’ faults.
This is a great game. All we need now is for our BP to shut you guys down.
August 25th, 20099:11 pm
Whew. Runs, please!
Maybe more fans would come out if the hitters did their job
Boog just said that the Padres ar clinging to a 1 – 0 lead. The Braves have 2 singles!
Nice job by O’Flaherty. Time for the offense to “pick up the pace”. Our pitching is giving us a chance to win this game.
August 25th, 20099:12 pm
no adjustments at all by anybody at the plate tonight
Outside factors? 2 hits? Then it must be blame TP day
August 25th, 20099:13 pm
Mario Mendoza……….Does Chipper like to go to Hooters? I wasnt aware of any Hooters controversy concerning Chipper.
moment of truth inning, if they can’t score here in the bottom of the 8th I don’t see them scoring in the 9th
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
