I think that is ultimately why Norton is a liability. He is obviously having a poor season at the plate, but when you have a guy that can only play first base in an emergency, it really hurts on a night like this.
i agree. not only is fourth a perfect spot for adam post all-star breaks…brian is more suited for the fifth spot. if chipper and escobar could getting going soon… chipper, mcann, laroche, and escobar at 3, 4, 5, and 6 is scary for opponents.
DOB……very appropo that DBT’s grace the blog song. Braves are on the backburner tonight as I am heaxding to see Hood, Cooley , and the boys( not forgetting Shanna). Sent you a shotof the National. Action shot later. Pull the Braves through. Downing a few pints atPenny Lane Pub ready to go Truckin.

Those of you watching the game on tje Extra Innings package back me up… Thank God Escobar hit that home run. It’s the first play the Braves made they can’t blame on the home plate ump. For God’s sake shut up!!
That’s probably it. When they’re batting during games when Chip announces, they’re too busy thinking “I sure hate that man. He’s SO annoying. And how bushy are his eyebro….”
Great first inning there…good to get Tommy some early runs…
I know, listening to these Marlins announcers on the MLB package is painful…these guys spent the WHOLE bottom of the 1st complaining about bloop hits and the 2-2 pitch to Laroche (which clearly looked a few inches off the plate and in) saying that it was in the same spot as Hanson’s 2 strike offer to Gload which to me looked to tail back and catch the inside black…
Doc Holiday (August 22nd, 2009 6:38 pm): “Oh I get it, the fewer teams finish ahead of us we get to feel better?”
You got it!
(I never could understand when I was in school, and finished a race right after three guys that tied for first, why wasn’t I second????? They tried to tell me I came in 4th!!!)
No, of course it’s better ’cause we’ve already caught five teams, and now only need to catch three more.
Nut you knew that.

Adam’s stats as a Brave this year are almost XBox stuff -
Coming into tonight:

Tomahawkin…..well documented in baseball’s rule of 64 from decades of records. Score less than 4 you lose 80% of the time. Score more than 6 you win 80% of the time. There is nothing the Braves can do to improve a wining percentage long term when scoring 3 runs. Ain’t happening dude.
lexbrave (August 22nd, 2009 6:42 pm): “the thing that makes me nervous is that the braves have played their best baseball of the season and have been the nl’s 2nd hottest team (as dave pointed out) over their past 40 games and they still have only managed to make up 2 games in the wild card (they were 6 back 40 games ago) “

I’m loving this aggressive baserunning
Is it me or do we play better when we are aggressive on the basepaths instead of sitting back and waiting for the 3-run homer…
That sit back and wait for the 3-run himer philospohy leads to a lot of DPs…
I’d like the braves to be this aggressive on the basepaths more when we play the Phillies next. They own us in that aspect of the game
