I rather watch rosie o donell slip n slide naked in slow motion than watch reruns of americas funniest home videos. i think peachtree tv is just f*cking with us.

Fun fact–Norton has a .338 OBP. Unfortunately, that’s the only thing he’s done well this season…
EfSC–yeah, I knew that. He hit pretty well in AA last year IIRC.
Brave in Broward
We got a chance. The Marlins manager is an idiot. I live in Ft Laudrdale now, and I know. The Braves have Jones, McCann and Laroche due in bottom of 9th, Pinto has been looking real good and the goofball has his “closer” Nunez warming up who has not pitched in a week , will come in wild and Braves will pull this out. Trust me. Anyone who lives down here knows there is no mystery as to why this guy looks like an 8 year old who just lost his lollipop.DOOFUS!!!! And a Cox disciple.
Escobar for Supreme Court
August 21st, 200910:42 pm
Agreed I was talking about that earlier it is really sad cause we beat the good teams.
“Heck, even many fans of this blog start saying “ballgame” when we go down 1-0….Can anyone get some stats on the braves record when they score first?”
A majority of the people who call ballgame in the 5th inning when we get down by two and remain scoreless know that our offense rarely comes back in games, that’s why we do it
I was the one who’s not pregnant! Adrienne of the Braves PR staff was doing most of the heavy lifting on the windows and that was embarrassing since she’s about seven months pregnant. So I got up and tried to redeem myself.
I could tell Chip was cracking from here, because he looked over at me from the TV booth and made a funny face as he was ragging up. Course while we are still tapping at our computers, I believe the TV booth is empty. perhaps they are back in the press box cafeteria, having a snack!
The windows are to protect our computers from the rain. I’ll take the kidding every time!
And Josh Caray is sitting a couple rows back here and just made a great point. Had we started this at 7:10 like we should have, this game would be over.
August 21st, 200910:43 pm
chilidog75 – I think the same think about Hanley could be said about Pujols. The guy is sooo much more of a monster than people give him credit for. Pujols and Hanley should be the two biggest stars in the game, and they aren’t. People are soo in love with Manny and ARod…yet Pujols and Hanley are soo much more of complete players. I love watching Pujols and his fundamentals. Always looking to take the extra base, he gets guys over when he should. Really a complete player, not just a huge HR/RBI guy, but everything.
This is probably going to be a loooooong delay.
Here is a picture of Medlen and his nice pink backpack.
More rain delay music
Yea I think so to Im surprised no one has wanted to trade for him.
Brave in Broward…
I lived in Boca Raton for a year and only ran into 2 Marlins fans the whole time I was there…
Has their fanbase changed any? I’m guessing No
August 21st, 200910:44 pm
Pujols is all over the place every person in america knows who he is. He is now the poster play in MLB
Carroll – Is Chip as disliked amongst the writers/announcers as he is amongst the rest of the world?
You don’t have to answer that. Just wink if it’s yes.
Norton really does have good at bats, that’s why he has so many walks, the problem is that when he gets ahead, he never seems to get hits or drive in runs.
I understand the finances of it — free agency and all.
And I wouldn’t expect Heyward to out-produce the Church/Diaz combo, which as I mentioned has been pretty dam solid for a month now.
But I wouldn’t mind him taking AB’s away from Reid Gorecki —- or even Garrett Anderson for that matter (when he gets healthy).
August 21st, 200910:45 pm
He got the job because his dad was a great announcers and its sad he cant live up to the legacy but he needs to know how people feel about him.
August 21st, 200910:46 pm
But Garret Anderson is a professional hitter! He’s so…professional…sac flies…batting average…blearghh…
I want to know what Medlen carries around in that thing other than maybe a jacket
August 21st, 200910:47 pm
Will – it’s just stuff for the bullpen guys. Gum, dip, etc.
cabravesfan – sorry – lightning knocked out computer right after your post, so I did not get a chance to respond. And then I got distracted by other things going on. And I really don’t remember what you said. But I’m sure it would be a great idea, whatever it was. And, by the way, it is still raining here rather heavily.
B. Pena with a game tying HR in the 9th 2 outs
chris from md
Does anyone have a clue as to when this game might resume?
Chris from md
Everyone knows who Pujols is, yes, but the fact that he is the best player in baseball, and pretty much should’ve won the MVP every year for I dunno how many years in a row now, is saying something. You hardly ever since the Cardinals on ESPN. They have a great staff, a great offense, yet it is always the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, and Cubs on ESPN.
August 21st, 200910:48 pm
Rain…tell me more. It’s been so long….
Mitchell, you should’ve gone and played tennis. Maybe, we would’ve won. Just a theory.
If we lose this series, It’s gonna be a really tough pill to swallow. Especially since we will lose ground in both the division (Which I think the race is over) and the WC…
With the Pressure On Lowe Will come Correct Sunday “Bank On It!” And feel free to call me out if he doesn’t…
The “Feast or Famine Awfense on the other hand is another story…
I live in Jupiter, where both the Marlins and Cardinals train. when the Cardinals are home, you see a sea of red. When the Marlins are home, seats can be had by the dozens.
Did anybody else notice Hanley posing after his first inning single? He may have had a chance at a double if he didn’t stand at home plate and freeze for the cameras.
August 21st, 200910:49 pm
Whew…clouds just opened up in Gwinnett. It’s pouring
hahah Sheff just got tossed from the Mets game…what a a**
Diaz is a bad RF and he belongs in LF and no on a whole Heyward would not out produce the combo..but GA prolly wont be a brave next year so the church/diaz comebo moves to LF McLouth and or Schafer in CF and Heyward in right is what I think is going to happen next year.
August 21st, 200910:50 pm
*cue evil laughter*
where exactly is turner field in atlanta? east?
The Cardinals have one of the richest history of all MLB clubs ESPN loves them
You folks in Atlanta need to thank your lucky starts you don’t have to listen to Tommy Hutton and Rich Waltz on a nightly basis. Marlins broadcasts have to be among the worst in the majors.
cabravesfan – it’s wet – in fact, I can feel some bouncing on my feet (have doors open to let cool air flow through)
I believe the TV booth is empty. perhaps they are back in the press box cafeteria, having a snack! Carroll Rogers
You’re kidding me right? JJ cleaned out the buffet line a few innings ago. Please JJ, not the steam trays.
August 21st, 200910:51 pm
lucky stars…not starts
Is there any reason that Gorecki isn’t playing RF? I don’t know much about him, but Diaz has looked pretty bad in RF this year and doesn’t have much of an arm. Not sure what Hanley was doing on that double he hit to the gap on Diaz. Easy double on Matt’s arm, guess he was wanting a single? No idea. Especially with two outs?
Its almost out of Atlanta
August 21st, 200910:52 pm
jeffrey’s right – that backpack is full-on hazing by the vets, and in addition to whatever he needs to carry out it BETTER be full of any possible item those boys want. Smart boy to embrace it.
“And Josh Caray is sitting a couple rows back here and just made a great point. Had we started this at 7:10 like we should have, this game would be over.”
like most of us on here Josh Caray must have no faith in this Awfense as well in knowing that the Team and the manager don’t posses the Testicular fortitude to keep the come back going from being 5 runs down…?
I agree Smitty, but I only listen to them when they are playing the Braves.
August 21st, 200910:53 pm
If Heyward doesn’t get called up this year I doubt he will start the season with Atlanta. They will probably wait like they did with Hanson so they get an extra year out of him.
Matt, no offense but next time: you can Look up turner field’s location on Google earth or ballparksofbaseball.com
Turner field is a mile due south of Downtown
I thought the Braves always start games at 7:35 on Friday evenings though. I’m not sure why they would’ve started at 7:10 today.
August 21st, 200910:54 pm
Will- I think it just has some crisco, bardol, vagisil and a couple jalapenos at most LOL
MFin04- That’s why I believe Hanley is a step below Pujols. He may be as talented, but he doesn’t have near the focus Pujols does.
August 21st, 200910:55 pm
matt: Turner Field is the southernmost point of downtown Atlanta, and practically in the center of Metro Atlanta.
That Abacoa Development Kicks Ass…!
And Smitty I called Hanley out Posing on one of my posts earlier at about 8pm
Does anyone think we will come back and win this? Chipper base hit, mccann walk, and laroche does the rest. I call it here.
Step below Pujols ain’t too bad
August 21st, 200910:56 pm
I really dont wanna start this again. I think he will most people dont. I know about the whole rule where he would lose a year.
Tomahawkin- i live in Abacoa above the shops. It’s a one block walk to the park
Guys, if they let this game go on it probably won’t resume until about 2 AM. It started raining at my place about 2 hours ago (30 miles north of ATL) and is still going. I would assume it will be a raining atleast for another 1 hour at the field. As much as I don’t want to see them call this game, it’s probably time to hit the sack
August 21st, 200910:57 pm
I’m excited about the Falcons. Offense looks good.
I didn’t see your post. I’m usually not online during games, only now because of delay.
The dude is hitting .360. He must be focusing pretty well.
August 21st, 200910:58 pm
a643dp – it would be interesting knowing Eddie Perez. When I was at ST there was a simulated game for KK and Eddie was funny with the stuff he was yelling from the bullpen. From yelling the “Mine mine mine” thing that they do at Turner Field to arguing balls and strikes. Weren’t many people there so could hear him very clearly.
aight thanks tamahawkin and ballyard hotdog
August 21st, 200910:59 pm
chili- He is immensely talented, but is often called out for his lack of hustle. There’s a lot of untapped potential there.
August 21st, 200911:00 pm
Smitty Is there a Tri-Rail station there yet…? Off of Dixie Highway…?
Not trying to get into same conversation just saying unless they call him up this year then I doubt he will start next year here. Don’t think they will start the season counting on him unless they know what he can do at this level.
August 21st, 200911:01 pm
There’s no TriRail in northern Palm Beach.
Rockies and Phillies still losing. We won’t lose any ground on either team. The Rockies play 4 with the Giants, then 3 with the Dodgers, and then 3 with the Giants. We need to take advantage fast. Huge next ten games for them and I think we can go ahead and make up some ground.
August 21st, 200911:02 pm
Will, That was part of my arguement. I think they want him up here. Diaz is killing them in Right and he plays an above average Left. So if the platoon combo just moves over there we wont miss them and GA is getting old. They need Heyward in Right next year.
OK Tiger Woods…
Take It To the Bank….! You’re calling a Braves Comeback…
Who is the most likely candidate to replace Medlen when the game gets back underway?
August 21st, 200911:03 pm
Its the 8th right?
Heath – probably going to be Acostus to put the game away, with Hanley coming up third.
August 21st, 200911:04 pm
The Sports Night’s show on peachtree tv’s number one headline is the Falcons, not the Braves who are in a playoff hunt, but fkn football. The south has no use for the Braves. What a shame.
August 21st, 200911:06 pm
Smitty – A large Amen to your 10:51 comments on the Miami broadcast crew.
Damn…When I left in 2003 there were plans to locate a tri-rail station for the Abacoa area adjacent to the RR tracks
I guess the city/county/state probably ran out of funding for that…
August 21st, 200911:07 pm
August 21st, 2009
MFin04- That’s why I believe Hanley is a step below Pujols. He may be as talented, but he doesn’t have near the focus Pujols does.
As good as he is, he’s not the player Pujols is either.
August 21st, 200911:08 pm
It’s the 9th.
August 21st, 200911:09 pm
No, there’s no construction for a TR there. I moved down here from Macon in’04 and have only ridden TR once, from Boynton Beach to Miami. They better do something if they want to draw any fans from North Palm Beach to the new Marlins Stadium. not many people want to drive down to the Orange bowl site to see a Marlins game.
I see Brad Penny is still shuttin em down!
The Boy Wonder made a couple of GREAT free-agent pitching acquisitions this offseason. Really well done there Theo.
Yankees 20, Red Sox 11 in the ninth …. good lord
Booney or Manny Acosta will be in…Seems most logical
August 21st, 200911:10 pm
SoWeGa- Agreed 100%. He’s also an a$$ to fans.
August 21st, 200911:11 pm
Both do different things really well. Pujols is a more powerful hitter, but Hanley is going to hit for more average and have the stolen bases. Pujols to me is more scary as a hitter, but Hanley hits just as well just not going to be you with the home run as much. Two hall of famers so it really doesn’t matter who we say is better.
Hanley’s as close to Pujols, in my mind, as anyone else in baseball.
I would take Hanley over Mauer (barely) because of his combination of speed and power.
But I think they’re your top 3 players.
August 21st, 200911:12 pm
Tomahawkin, I’m in advertising and it would shock you but the Marlins are in the top 10 in local ratings. The numbers they get(When contending like now) are unbelievable. However, as you know with all the New Yorkers down here and the seniors, this may be the CHEAPEST and tightest area in the Western Hemisphere. And of course a great number of these idiots are so upside down on their mortgages that they can barely pay the water bill, let alone shellout money for a baseball game.
By the way, Nick Johnson has to be the biggest Goldbricker in Major League Baseball. For 6 days he has been telling this idiot manager and management that his hamstring is getting better and now he comes out and says he might not be ready next week. I don’t want to read anyone saying how we should go after this big piece of goo over the Winter. I pulled up his record of games played and all I can say is “Yip Yip>” And I just noticed he is starting to actually look like Gonzalez. How sad is that. We will get to Nunez if the Village Idiot inserts him.
Hey chilidog75 , The sox still have a chance, a touchdown and as onside kick and who knows.
“I moved down here from Macon in’04 and have only ridden TR once, from Boynton Beach to Miami. They better do something if they want to draw any fans from North Palm Beach to the new Marlins Stadium. not many people want to drive down to the Orange bowl site to see a Marlins game.”
That was the Same Argument from People who didn’t want to drive down to Pro Player Stadium (Whatever Corporate Name you want to call it)
The Marlins will struggle with attendance in their second year of their undeserving new ballpark
August 21st, 200911:13 pm
Mets 1 out away from beating Phils…. 4-2, 2 on, 2 out, Howard at bat in the 9th.
A little early to call him a HOFer. Hanley won’t always hit for higher average, he just has this year. At this stage, Pujols is also a better defensive player.
Steve Holt!!! (fists in the air)
Does it seem like the braves always lose the fist game of a series?
The rain is now only in southern Atlanta it should be out in ten to twenty minutes
You’re really down on the dude.
We’ll give you Escobar for him (assuming you’re a Marlins fan). Hell, I would give you anyone in the entire franchise for him. And I’d even throw in Greg Norton just to sweeten the deal a little bit.
August 21st, 200911:14 pm
I Absoulutely hated the Snowbirds Down there…As well as the Bandwagon Yankee/Melts Fans…
wow, just saw a huge bolt of lightning beyond center field. the laptop is unplugged
August 21st, 200911:15 pm
Landshark Stadium is actually very accessible via the turnpike. I only go down when the Braves are in town. I expect Marlins Stadium to do well for a year or two, then fans will remember the team is the Marlins and will stay away like a hooker from church.
Brandon from Warner Robins
I hate the Yankees. They beat boston 20-11.
August 21st, 200911:16 pm
I wouldnt trade Escober the defense is so much better. Marlins have considered putting him in the outfield. Dont get me wrong hes a great hitter. Prolly better then Escobar but I still wouldnt take that trade.
chili- I’m a Braves fan. Lived in Ga for 33 years, FL for 5. I see him all the time on TV.
Tomahawkin- The local sports talk down here is 70% Yanks, Sox, Mets. It’s sickening.
August 21st, 200911:18 pm
Pujols career averages 40hrs, 125rbis .333 avg. 425 obp .625 slg
Hanley 25-30hrs 80rbi .317 avg. .385 .535
Obviously Hanley was a leadoff guy for a while, so he is very versatile in that way, but he seems destined to be a 3 hitter for the rest of his career. Had two 51SB years early on.
That’s pretty sick.
Escobar for Supreme Court,
I think you might be a little biased though.
I’m quite sure our front office would do cartwheels (heck, they’d do a whole Mary Lou Retton routine) if that trade was ever agreed upon.
August 21st, 200911:20 pm
Career: Pujols .333 .426 .628
Career: Ramirez .317 .386 .574
Pujols plays better defense and is much more community oriented as well.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
