I've always been of the mind that it's ever so appropriate for the opposing pitcher to bear the burden of breaking up a no-hitter.

There -- I said it.

GO, Jav-y!!! GO, Vaz-quy!!!

Some amazing fact:

In the last 30 years only 6 pitchers have posted an ERA below 2.00 in the :
1. Clemens 2005 1.87 & 1990 1.93 (HE IS A CHEATER)..........spelling

2. Pedro M. 1997 1.90 & 2000 1.74

3. K. Brown 1996 1.89

4. Maddux 1995 1. 63 & 1994 1.56

5.Gooden 1985 1.53 (Drug addict but maybe clean at the time)

6. Ryan 1981 1.69

So thats 6 guys in 30 years.......9 times between them.......I would erase Clemens data because he is a shame to our sport. That leaves Pedro and Maddux accounting for 4 of the 7 times it has been done in the last 30 seasons.............

Not only that but Maddux did it back to back........pretty amazing.........and he lead the league in ERA 3 times in a row since he had a 2.36 ERA in 1993....... Thats the most dominating span by any pitcher in a 3 consecutive year span since Koufax lead the league in ERA from 1962 to 1966 while dealing 3 sub 2.00 ERA.

Lew: "Supes-It’s not a matter of whether or not Hudson will ever come back to what he once was, but when that might be. He’s only signed for this option year and if you go back and look at Smoltz’s return from his TJ surgery, he wasn’t effective until June and even then it was as closer."

Doctors say it takes 18 months to fully recover from TJ surgery. Since Smotlz had his surgery in the spring, he didn't hit that 18 month mark until the END of his first season back. Hudson will hit the 18-month mark in the spring before the season begins.

I think locals don't just follow teams as much as they do players. When the players come and go as much as in Miami people get dissapointed when their "favorites" are only a better paycheck away from playing for another team.

If finding such a player is so easy, why haven’t we done it? We could certainly use some speed in our lineup, and right now we have one outfielder down and another leaving the game with back spasms. A young Nyger Morgan type would be nice to have right now.

Jim, the Braves (we?) have--McLouth, Anderson, Church, Diaz are all about as good or better than Morgan.

You know what's better than speed? Actually being able to produce at the plate. And the current outfield has produced.

In order to get Morgan, the Braves would have had to give up some good, young players. Why do that when he's not a huge upgrade over what you already have?
