Geez, why does it have to be an extreme? We either have to love and adore Chipper, or hate his guts and want him of the team. Same with Bobby Cox. Is there no in between?
Yes, Chipper’s defense is awful and he’s cost us runs in multiple ways tonight. Yes, Bobby Cox overuses his pen and writes up questionable lineups. I can still appreciate what they’ve done in the past for this franchise and still be disappointing in their moves this season. I can also be happy when they succeed.
Chipper is a good hitter who’s in a slump, and a below average defender. That’s who he is. Put down the freaking pitchforks.
Escobar for Supreme Court
Well you and steve settle for obp and avg, and i will settle for the power numbers and rbi. Would you rather have Ichiro are Ryan Howard everyone has a different opinion. I will take the power thats what in my opinion is more important.
None of us know how Chipper really is, but on the field he just seems like he could give a fu** at times. Now ain’t the time, but no way he doesn’t realize that.
I think Escobar is our best hitter, but I don’t have any stats to back it up. He’s got a good idea, can hit to all fields, a little bit of power, and best of all he’s clutch.
Well NMB – He did sign that 3 year deal which btw I did not agree with… also I don’t have to remind anyone here he is a 10/5 guy so I doubt he would want to go anywhere.
Maybe that wasn’t the best thing there. Matty has been swinging very well, and I realize that K-Rod is a righty, but as Herm Edwards would say, “You play to win the game.”
I hate howard, I’ll take Ichiro. Thats not the argument though. Chipper is the whole package, and keep in mind that was only his second E since the All star break.
Escobar for Supreme Court
Wow, Also prove to us he isnt the leagues smartest hitter.
The snartest hitter….no. One of them for sure the smartest is Pujols no doubt.
Right now? Absolutely. But still, kind of avoiding the question, because LaRoche has only been here a few weeks, and doesn’t have enough Braves’ PA to qualify for the discussion. Plus, if you took his overall stats, he’s not better than Chipper.
So I bet you were bashing Mac when he was on an 1 for 43 slump 5 days ago, werent you. He was the only reason we stayed in it up to the all star break.

HE IS 37!!! Hes not going to crank out a +.300 40+ homers 120 RBI season but at the same time he hits more doubles and singles now which are just as good for driving runs in.
Actually forget howard ill take Pujols he is the whole package, not chipper. By the way i hate howard too and chipper is my favorite player but hes not the best anymore.
Steve from OH
I belive escobar is our best hitter because of how clutch he has been leading the world in hits with risp and he has power, average, and a good eye.
If he found out just before or during the game that a body has been found on his farm (per AJC), I might be tempted to give Chipper a pass tonight for his mind being elsewhere.
But I swear, the first thing I thought was Please don’t let it be a Hooters girl.
Smartest, no chipper def. has more smarts then him, hes faced more pitchers, knows the strike zone better, played longer.
