Geez, why does it have to be an extreme? We either have to love and adore Chipper, or hate his guts and want him of the team. Same with Bobby Cox. Is there no in between?
Yes, Chipper’s defense is awful and he’s cost us runs in multiple ways tonight. Yes, Bobby Cox overuses his pen and writes up questionable lineups. I can still appreciate what they’ve done in the past for this franchise and still be disappointing in their moves this season. I can also be happy when they succeed.
Chipper is a good hitter who’s in a slump, and a below average defender. That’s who he is. Put down the freaking pitchforks.

None of us know how Chipper really is, but on the field he just seems like he could give a fu** at times. Now ain’t the time, but no way he doesn’t realize that.

I think Escobar is our best hitter, but I don’t have any stats to back it up. He’s got a good idea, can hit to all fields, a little bit of power, and best of all he’s clutch.
This team sucks at bunting.

Right now? Absolutely. But still, kind of avoiding the question, because LaRoche has only been here a few weeks, and doesn’t have enough Braves’ PA to qualify for the discussion. Plus, if you took his overall stats, he’s not better than Chipper.

Smartest, no chipper def. has more smarts then him, hes faced more pitchers, knows the strike zone better, played longer. When Pujols is chippers age if he is still playing he will be as smart as Chipper but to say someone who has only played for 6 seasons is smarter then a HOF player who played for 14 years…just not possible.
