IF MC CAN IS WORRIED ABOUT HOW MUCH HE MAKES COMPARED TO FRANCOUER, THEN HE NEEDS TO START CATCHING THOSE PASSED BALLS AND HIT AS WELL AS FRENCHY IN GAME WINNING SITUATIONS. YOU CAN NOT EXPECT MORE PAY FOR LESS PERFORMANCE. IT TAKES MORE THAN AN ALL STAR BIRTH TO GET A RAISE, AND HE BARELY MADE THE ALL STAR TEAM THIS YEAR.

QUIT COMPAREING SALARYS BETWEEN PLAYERS. EVEN AN IDIOT KNOWS IT IS ABOUT WHAT A TEAM NEEDS ACCORDING TO POSITION. THE HITTING HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH IT, IF THEY ARE OUTSTANDING AT THEIR POSITION. THE BRAVES CHOSE TO SPEND ON PITCHERS THIS YEAR, AND IT HAS PAYED OFF. FRANCOUER WAS NOT HAPPY IN ATLANTA AND YOU DO NOT NEED A PLAYER ON YOUR TEAM THAT DOES NOT WANT TO BE THERE. WHATEVER THE METS DECIDE TO PAY HIM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT THE BRAVES PAY THEIR PLAYERS. ATHLETES ARE STARTING TO REALIZE THAT MONEY DOES NOT BUY HAPPINESS. AND THE MOVES CAN EITHER BE GOOD FOR THEIR CAREERS OR BAD. RE: JOHN SMOLTZ AS AN EXAMPLE. THEY ARE ALL OVERPAYED, BUT YOU WILL NEVER CONVINCE THEM OF THAT : HENCE:BIG EGOS.

I have been a Braves fan since 1957 - my father and I saw Warren Spahns 300th win against the Chicago Cubs in Milwaukee County Stadium. I don't do blogs, but watching the game this afternoon - this question is burning a hole in my brain. WTF is Kelly Johnson doing playing Major Leauge baseball? He is a poor hitter and without a doubt, the worst fielding Second Baseman I have ever seen. He couldn't catch a pillow if you threw it to him underhanded. Does he have pictures of Bobby Cox with animals or what? .

brent a.: "Wayne, the point is, these teams don’t have to fold. Even though we don’t play the two teams out West, one of them HAS TO LOSE at least 5 games in head2head competition with the other. It’s opens windows - at least a creak."
Brent, thats true but the problem is that also means the other team is going to win at least 5

The clear difference in us and Philly is power. I feel like we lost in HR derby this weekend and really our pitching wasn't "that bad." Every time through their 3-6 hitters I felt like I was holding my breath, with one eye not wanting to look as soon as our pitcher let the ball fly from his hand and the other eye too curious to not look, wincing on every swing. Every time we got through an inning without someone hitting a HR I let out a collected sigh of relief! WHEW!! But sooner or later you just knew that a pitcher would make a mistake and it would be crushed. Whenever our guys batted you were just hoping they could just maybe hit a single somewhere. Their 5 Hr's to our 2 told the story over the weekend. At least they felt sorry for us and gave us a game! We had to have our best lineup available to beat them and we lost McLouth and Prado, our table setters. It was never more evident than in these games that we really need a big RH bopper in the middle of the lineup to compete with these guys without everything having to go perfectly our way in order to win.

mid town joeI do not see the Braves winning a series. The past 3 games are my barometer.

then you dont know anything about baseball.
