CrimeDog ……..Yang played today with a “sense of urgency”. He definitely played with it on that second shot on the 18th. Dude went AFTER the hole on that shot.

In other words, he played to WIN. He didnt play to “not lose”. I have loads of respect for that.

I’ve gotta agree with Random…Chipper may not be putting up MVP numbers this year, but is he expected to every year? He is still our best pure hitter. His presence in the lineup makes it a tougher lineup, even when he is struggling(which he’s not now). And I seem to remember him coming through with several clutch hits this year. He may not be 27 anymore but he’s still the HOSS!

I posted back 6 or so weeks ago in response to some posters calling for Moylan to be traded or released.I thought it was WAY too soon to give up on him.

In my view his stuff was as electric as ANYBODY’S IN BASEBALL the 2 years prior to his injury.I know that’s a very big statement..and I stand by it.

I really can’t think of any pitcher who could get the amount of movement he had both in and out and on high and low pitches.

While he doesn’t have the WOW pitches all the way back just yet, he’s getting there.

Braves will be playing seriously shorthanded tonight (provided they play). Bullpen’s down a man with Soriano, and they’re down two position players with Prado and McLouth. Prado’s being checked by a doctor now, just to try to rule out anything more serious than dehydration or lingering effects of flu bug.

Bobby said they still don’t want to DL McLouth, because they think he could be ready in a few more days. But in meantime, they can’t pinch-hit him because then if they decide to DL him, they’d lose those days he’s already missed and have to start the assignment from the day after he pinch-hit.

As great as Soriano has been this year, except lately, I don’t think we sign him. He’s too injury prone, more than the average player anyways, and he’ll be too expensive. Jeff321…………in this case, Bobby Cox has to rely on both Nate McLouth and the training staff to give him a timetable on when McLouth can play again. Based on that, Bobby said that he hopes to not have to DL McLouth.

However, he isnt going to use McLouth as a pinch hitter, in case they have to DL him, therefore being able to retro him from yesterday.

I have no problem with being critical of Bobby. However, in this case, Bobby is in the total right here.

jeffrey d…….it isnt like the ESPN announcers are “going out on a limb” by saying that the Phillies are a lock to make the postseason.

Look at their “track record”. With basically the same core of players the past 3 years (and in their prime), the Phillies not only have shown that they are clutch down the stretch….but they are the defending champs. And of course they had a 4 game lead over Florida coming into today.

So knowing that, why wouldnt the ESPN announcers say that the Phillies are a “lock” to make the play-offs? The Braves or Marlins are going to have to PROVE to the country that they can dethrone the Phillies.

This rain delay could be costly because if the Braves have to play late into the night……they have to come right back at 1pm tomorrow and play the Diamondbacks in a make-up game.

The Braves need to dig down deep and overcome these obstacles if they want to gain some ground.
