Who woulda thought that YE Yang would be the one to take down Tiger? Who even knew that the guy existed before today?
Tiger is clearly the worst golfer in history – almost as pathetic as the Braves will be if they lose tonight…
August 16th, 20097:03 pm
GG002 We’ve blamed ESPN so many times already.
There’s a real good reason for that…
August 16th, 20097:04 pm
Impressive. Not only did Yang outplay Tiger heads up, the did it while starting the day 2 shots behind.
Yang wins by 3 shots.
August 16th, 20097:05 pm
Touche. Well played. Tiger just didn’t have a sense of URGENCY. Bruce Bochy would have eagled 18.
August 16th, 20097:06 pm
Tiger is just not clutch. Right, baseball fans? He must suck.
It’ll be interesting to see his post-match interview.
Or (even better), Tiger must suck because he got beat by AAA YE Yang….
August 16th, 20097:07 pm
andre ethier 4-5 hr 4rbi…at least it’s not just against us, if you tell me jason heyward turns out to be exactly like andre ethier then ill take it and be happy. guy is a monster
CrimeDog ……..Yang played today with a “sense of urgency”. He definitely played with it on that second shot on the 18th. Dude went AFTER the hole on that shot.
In other words, he played to WIN. He didnt play to “not lose”. I have loads of respect for that.
Wow, Ian Kinsler from Texas got hit in the helmet yesterday too.
August 16th, 20097:08 pm
Sounded like the crowd was really fired up for Y.E.S. Yang (a Jim Nantz-ism).
Good to hear. It’s so stunning when one of these guys actually goes toe-to-toe with the Great Tiger that it should be appreciated.
Random and McFanno sittin' under a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g!
The Bird and Indian
Steve from OH: Good one.
August 16th, 20097:09 pm
Well said, Crime Dog – and, clearly, Butch Harmon is to blame for shoddy coaching
August 16th, 20097:10 pm
ESPN just said the Sox release Smoltz at 1pm tomorrow for whoever was asking earlier.
August 16th, 20097:12 pm
I would love to see Smoltz go to the Marlins. I’m confident that we would rock him. He’s nowhere near the Smoltz of old.
August 16th, 20097:13 pm
Paul, FYI, you don’t hit an eagle, you make an eagle
Piedmont Blues (ex-BFIR)
August 16th, 20097:14 pm
Late to the party DOB, but thanks for posting the Church vs Frenchy stats. Goes to show you how dependent RBI are on where you hit in the order and how well your teammates do their jobs.
No, VJ. Stevie is to blame. He uses keeps putting the pitching wedge in Tiger’s hands in CRUCIAL situations.
August 16th, 20097:15 pm
The braves may still make a move for Smoltz. It wouldnt surprise me.
They guy was striking people out and was looking sharp for a few innings each time out. He would be great in the pen. Thus explains why several teams are wanting him.
to repeat what i heard Kruk say this morning for those that didnt see it earlier:
NL Wildcard teams should fear the Braves the MOST going down the stretch.
August 16th, 20097:18 pm
Not wishing anyone to get hurt, but Nick johnson left the marlins 1st game with a hammy strain.
Well, Rockies are beating the Fish 6-1 in game 2.
August 16th, 20097:19 pm
No No No, I want to see Smoltz In Texas…Smoltz will try to stick it to the braves F.O. every chance he gets
August 16th, 20097:20 pm
Joe Morgan just said Jair Jurr-genz.
August 16th, 20097:21 pm
Soph — thanks re Smoltz timetable
I’ve gotta agree with Random…Chipper may not be putting up MVP numbers this year, but is he expected to every year? He is still our best pure hitter. His presence in the lineup makes it a tougher lineup, even when he is struggling(which he’s not now). And I seem to remember him coming through with several clutch hits this year. He may not be 27 anymore but he’s still the HOSS!
“Y.E. Yang just hit an eagle on 14″
LOL. Looks like Dentz is as big an expert on golf as he is on everything else.
August 16th, 20097:24 pm
Joe, I saw that too this morning, and was glad to see us finally getting a lil respect on BSPN
What is this………..you OFs hitting 6th, 7th and 8th??? Are we in some kind of problem here?
I just read that JF interview, kind of touchy.
August 16th, 20097:25 pm
That rain came through the Keys for two days. It rarely rains down here continuously, but it did for almost two days. It will be fortunate to get the game in tonight.
And the Keys officially have two Tropical Storms headed this way. Anna and Bill were named yesterday and are due Thur. and Friday.
Just read the piece on the initial Texiera trade about losing Feliz and Andrus. It discusses Feliz’s pitches clocked at Here is what he has thrown so far (speed in parentheses):
FB 72.7% (98.1 mph)
CB 17.2% (81.4mph)
Elvis Andrus is contributing for Texas and what do we have? Adam LaRoche at first again. (stole that one from a blogger at THT.

smoltz isnt going to try and stick it to anyone. They guy left the braves to go to a team he thought would get him to the world series. However in the process he didnt perform. Smoltz has nothing to stand on and would be thankful at this point for any team to give him a chance.
August 16th, 20097:26 pm
Well, I got my Dish upgrade, but since hubby has let me watch Friday and Saturday’s games, I am back to GameDay tonight. Probably won’t watch whole game as have to get up before 5 tomorrow morning. So, to end this post GO BRAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!
I posted back 6 or so weeks ago in response to some posters calling for Moylan to be traded or released.I thought it was WAY too soon to give up on him.
In my view his stuff was as electric as ANYBODY’S IN BASEBALL the 2 years prior to his injury.I know that’s a very big statement..and I stand by it.
I really can’t think of any pitcher who could get the amount of movement he had both in and out and on high and low pitches.
While he doesn’t have the WOW pitches all the way back just yet, he’s getting there.
I feel for Prado with the dizziness.. Of course I just had major ear surgery a week ago, but still, being dizzy is no fun at all.. Hopefully he gets over that soon.. I am not as worried though with Infante back and able to play 2nd..
August 16th, 20097:27 pm
No tarp on field, and they’re chalking the lines right now, getting ready for an on-time start.
Having said that, there are dark clouds coming over the south rim of the stadium as I type.
4GB Div race-
2.5 GB WCR
Oh that surely is a sweet scenario.
August 16th, 20097:29 pm
Rangers agead of boston in the WCR……….WTH………
August 16th, 20097:30 pm
Movement of rain just below Macon seems to be stalling. Looks like clear sailing now, I think.
August 16th, 20097:31 pm
And now, they’re pulling the tarp back out, or at least getting ready to, as it gets darker here….
DOB, whatever rain is associated with the clouds you see will be gone very soon.
August 16th, 20097:32 pm
It may come through hard, but be gone within 15.
August 16th, 20097:33 pm
All I can see in the weather channel is that rain chances are to decrease drastically in the next hour from 40% to 5% in 3 hours………..thats good news
August 16th, 20097:36 pm
Tarp coming back out?
August 16th, 20097:38 pm
Tomahawkin (August 16th, 2009 6:39 pm): “You Damn Skippy and you know that in someways that I’m right”
Your and idiot. And a fool.
That’s what I know.
Prado might just have an inner ear infection that’s gotten worse being out in the heat. Can’t afford to have him out very long.
Doc Holliday, good news but how will affect Vazquez? You hope it doesn’t throw him off too much. Now Happ can get thrown off and it’d be fine.
DP……….I guess that you cant tell when someone “misspoke”. I’m trying to type this out while playing 3 different online poker tournaments.
People do make mistakes. Of all the mistakes and typos I see on here, some of you can be real sticklers when I make a mistake.
Braves will be playing seriously shorthanded tonight (provided they play). Bullpen’s down a man with Soriano, and they’re down two position players with Prado and McLouth. Prado’s being checked by a doctor now, just to try to rule out anything more serious than dehydration or lingering effects of flu bug.
Bobby said they still don’t want to DL McLouth, because they think he could be ready in a few more days. But in meantime, they can’t pinch-hit him because then if they decide to DL him, they’d lose those days he’s already missed and have to start the assignment from the day after he pinch-hit.
August 16th, 20097:40 pm
DP…………oh, by the way, congratulations on setting the Guinness Book of World Record for “most Gay DP porn scenes in a day”.

August 16th, 20097:41 pm
Radar on weather.com shows they’re about to be socked with red at the stadium ant minute…
Here y’all go. Shoulda shortened this link I guess. lol
Turner Field Weather…
May be it’s time to DL McLouth and bring Conrad up.
August 16th, 20097:43 pm
As great as Soriano has been this year, except lately, I don’t think we sign him. He’s too injury prone, more than the average player anyways, and he’ll be too expensive. I can see us signing Gonzo and have him be the closer next year. I could be wrong, but who cares, I think that’s what will happen.
cricket………….DP is on the DL, and I dont mean disabled list, lol.
August 16th, 20097:45 pm
gonna rain for the next 30 minutes, then probably have about an hour or so of clearer weather. Braves’ll have to get an early lead, we might see just 5 innings
August 16th, 20097:46 pm
Cricket, Good call there since Infante can play the OF.
Is martin available for PH?
August 16th, 20097:48 pm
TnBrian, I agree. Shouldn’t sign Soriano because of the reason’s you just said. But I don’t know about Gonzo being the closer. FW should attempt to resign him (as far as I know Mike really likes Atlanta), and then pursue a guy like Jose Valverde to hold down the role as closer
Translation: Cox doesn’t care about playing the division leader with a short bench. Makes ya wonder if he really wants to win or not, no?
August 16th, 20097:49 pm
With the link I provided you can enter your home address and pinpoint it on the map. Same can be done with The Ted. Just enter Turner Field, Atlanta GA
August 16th, 20097:50 pm
Which sites you prefer for poker? I play live a lot but planning to get involved more in the online poker scene.
August 16th, 20097:51 pm
Yeah Jeff. Bobby Cox doesn’t want to win. Of all the stupid things I have read on this blog, that’s up there.
August 16th, 20097:52 pm
How high, would you say?
Jeff321…………I have to side with Bobby on this. The Braves did the same thing twice with Escobar earlier this year. From what Bobby said, he would rather be without Nate for a few days (and have be short handed for a couple of days)……then be without Nate for 15 days and having a full bench with someone like Blanco.
While I feel that Blanco has uses………he cant do what McLouth can. Bobby is in the right here.
August 16th, 20097:53 pm
After this moves through we’re set for the night.
Yes, if Infante wasn’t available, we would have to bring up Diory and I don’t want to see it in these dog days of the season.
top 50? maybe, being a premium hitting catcher is not as valuable as you seem to think since he misses a lot of games and he is not a good defender. I was teasin’ McFann a bit with the 89.
nolie, we totally disagree if you think it’s a maybe when considering position value, contract status, and age. Absolutely a Top-50 player.
August 16th, 20097:55 pm
And Top-15 may be strong, but it really isn’t that far off from where I think he should be.
August 16th, 20097:56 pm
30 min delay
August 16th, 20097:57 pm
“”Yes, if Infante wasn’t available, we would have to bring up Diory and I don’t want to see it in these dog days of the season.”"
Not even in the cat days do I want to see that.
Oh, holy crud…NOT A RAIN DELAY!!
Prado available for PH??????????
August 16th, 20097:58 pm
and Lowe isn’t pitching
Hope Prado gets a good report from the Doc! Say a little prayer for him…
August 16th, 20097:59 pm
cricket………….it looks like my post got ate up. To answer your question, I play a lot of tournaments at pokerstars.
August 16th, 20098:00 pm
Paul Lentz, do you actually think Clout is going to be 100% in 3-4 days? Or do you think he’ll be more like 70% and at risk to re aggravate the injury? See, its a game and either way he’s not gonna be ready for the stretch run w/o a DL stint.
Thanks Paul, I’ll check it out.
Will do McFann!
Jon Miller says 8:45 at the earliest.
August 16th, 20098:01 pm
Why is Soriano not available?
See, its a game and either way he’s not gonna be ready for the stretch run w/o a DL stint
Says the man who is NOT acting on the expert advice of the Braves’ medical staff. This is a fun game.
August 16th, 20098:02 pm
Before this series started, we were 7-2 against the Phillies and now that we clawed back to get into the pennant race and WC race, they play like the Bad News Bears again.. The Braves deserve to lose this series, and not even come close to making a playoff berth.. Nice to see that the worthless Braves showed back up at a crucial time in the season. Screw them, I am finished with them this year..
I see you’re back @ 7:26. The day after this post. Short year.
August 16th, 20098:03 pm
I’m going on record. There will be NO delays after present one!
these clowns on ESPN just said to pencil in the phills for the post season
August 16th, 20098:04 pm
Jeff321…………in this case, Bobby Cox has to rely on both Nate McLouth and the training staff to give him a timetable on when McLouth can play again. Based on that, Bobby said that he hopes to not have to DL McLouth.
However, he isnt going to use McLouth as a pinch hitter, in case they have to DL him, therefore being able to retro him from yesterday.
I have no problem with being critical of Bobby. However, in this case, Bobby is in the total right here.
August 16th, 20098:05 pm
braves4ever these clowns on ESPN just said to pencil in the phills for the post season
Which is why I ain’t watching…
Shamus I’m going on record. There will be NO delays after present one!
Yeah, like when you said BMac was gonna hit two homers on Friday.
August 16th, 20098:06 pm
these clowns on ESPN just said to pencil in the phills for the post season
I know right? They’re talking like the Phils are already leading the division or something.
August 16th, 20098:09 pm
The tarp is off the field.
McFann, don’t know what it is, ESP has been fuzzy lately. Need to see voodoo doc and get it straightened out I guess…
I expect Joe Morgan to go get the trophy and polish it all through the game and present to the already crowned phils
If they lose tonight, the Phillies will have a 4 game lead with more than 40 to go and they are penciled in for the playoffs? The Marlins and Braves are literall nipping at their heels. ESPN’s favoratism is as transparent as cellophane.
August 16th, 20098:11 pm
Hey KeyLargo, I got your fishing buddies info, thanks. It looks like that storm will hit land in my area around midnight, I guess we will get pretty wet. I was down at the beach earlier and there were some 4 foot breakers, but really not much action. Lets go BRAVES.
Will you pansies give it a rest?!
jeffrey d…….it isnt like the ESPN announcers are “going out on a limb” by saying that the Phillies are a lock to make the postseason.
Look at their “track record”. With basically the same core of players the past 3 years (and in their prime), the Phillies not only have shown that they are clutch down the stretch….but they are the defending champs. And of course they had a 4 game lead over Florida coming into today.
So knowing that, why wouldnt the ESPN announcers say that the Phillies are a “lock” to make the play-offs? The Braves or Marlins are going to have to PROVE to the country that they can dethrone the Phillies.
August 16th, 20098:12 pm
Might be a good idea…
Or, ya know what you could do…say BMac’s gonna go 0-5 with 3 K’s. Then maybe, y’know…
August 16th, 20098:13 pm
If the Braves win 5 of the next 7 against the Phils (just duplicate what they’ve already done thus far), and beat up on the Nats the last week and a half of the season, the Phils will be penciling in pars and bogeys at the links in October. Sorry ESPN: wishing it to be true doesn’t make it so.
We have a month and half left of the season and 3 teams (yes the fish) with a chance to win this division and the Rockies are real in the WC. Phillys will not win the Division and may miss the WC.
August 16th, 20098:15 pm
This rain delay could be costly because if the Braves have to play late into the night……they have to come right back at 1pm tomorrow and play the Diamondbacks in a make-up game.
The Braves need to dig down deep and overcome these obstacles if they want to gain some ground.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
